Episode 5: A Second Dream?
ll
ll
ll
A few moments after the pain fades away, Usagi wakes up in bed to her old phone ringing.
ll
ll
(Usagi) What the hell?
ll
ll
Hesitantly, she picked up the phone. On the tiny screen, the screen read "Mina".
ll
ll
ll
(Usagi) Feelin guilty are we?
ll
ll
She answered, bracing herself for Minako to start begging for forgiveness over the phone.
ll
With the thought in mind, she answered in an annoyed tone.
ll
(Usagi) What?
ll
ll
ll
On the other end of the line, Minako sounded surprised.
ll
ll
(Minako) Jeez, did I wake you up too early?
ll
ll
(Usagi) Yes, you did. Now what do you want?
ll
ll
(Minako) Well, I was wondering if you were up to joining me and the girls later. We were thinking about going to the winter festival today and were wondering if you would want to come with us.
ll
ll
(Usagi) (The girls?) What're you talking about Minako? Aren't you all busy nowadays with your careers?
ll
ll
ll
(Minako) Wow, you must be REALLY out of it right now. Yeah, we all work part time except for Rei, who works at the Hikawa Shrine, obviously, but I wouldn't say we have careers just yet.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Um... O..kay... Sure, I'll be there. Where is it at?
ll
ll
ll
Minako relayed that the festival would be at the Shrine.
ll
ll
The two talked about how they were going to dress along with everyone and other trivial topics, but for Usagi, the conversation was a million miles away.
ll
ll
She would absent mindedly answer all of Minako's questions, but in her head, she was so confused.
ll
ll
(Usagi) (It's winter? I thought it was around spring the last I checked.) Why does Minako sound happy when the last time I talked to her, she was ashamed of herself?) (All of us together again? How did she manage that?)
ll
ll
She talked to Minako for a little longer before the two disconnected.
ll
ll
ll
(Usagi) What's going on?
ll
ll
Not wanting to sound crazy, Usagi went over to look at a calendar. It was December... 16th.. of 1993...
ll
ll
(Usagi) No... this can't be. It's 1996... I have to be sure of this.
ll
ll
Later, Usagi got ready to go for a walk, clear her head.
ll
ll
In the kitchen, there was another, larger calendar.
ll
ll
She saw that her mother was in the kitchen as well and asked her.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Hey Mom? Todays December sixteenth, 1993, right?
ll
ll
2Purposefully, Usagi said 1993 instead of 1996 to be sure that she wasn't crazy.
ll
ll
(Ikuko) Wow Usagi, first you're sleeping in late and now forgetting what day of the week it is? Yes, it is December 16th, 1993.
ll
ll
She still wasn't positive of the change. She went outside. She was gonna drive to Mamoru's old apartment and see if he knew what was going on. Was this a dream? A memory? A trance?
ll
ll
She went outside but her car wasn't there. Nor was it in the garage.
ll
ll
Before she panicked, she felt that getting to Mamoru was more important.
ll
ll
ll
So, she grabbed a jacket an old jack at walked over to his old apartment. If it really was 1992, Mamoru would still be finishing college locally. He wouldn't have even gotten the offer to go to school in the United States.
ll
ll
She walked up the familiar stairs of the luxury apartments and went straight to where she remembered he lived.
ll
ll
At his old door, she hesitated. She hadn't seen Mamoru in over a year. Could she keep herself from weirdly jumping all over him with tears in her eyes?
ll
ll
She held her hand over the door's surface and used the back of her hand to knock on the door a couple of times.
ll
ll
ll
It was quiet. It would appear that no one was there.
ll
ll
ll
As she felt that it made sense, the door opened to reveal a smiling Mamoru Chiba.
ll
ll
As he greeted her, everything completely stopped for a second.
ll
ll
There he was... Right. In. Front. of her.
ll
ll
She had almost forgotten how gorgeous his face was.
ll
ll
The sharp jaw line... the six-pack of rock hard abs that lay hidden under his shirt.. and those eyes... It was like she was looking at the Moon through his eyes... The white moon surrounded by a deep blue space...
ll
ll
ll
He went from smiling to confused as he began waving his hand in front of her face.
ll
ll
(Mamoru) Um...? Usagi? You there?
ll
ll
(Usagi) OH! Sorry about that. It's just been a while since I've seen you.
ll
ll
ll
(Mamoru) Huh!? We were together just a few days ago. It's not like I disappeared off of the face of the Earth.
ll
ll
ll
After laughing a little, Mamoru was curious.
ll
ll
ll
(Mamoru) So...? What brings you here this early? You're usually asleep until nearly noon, so something must be up... unless someone dared to force you up!
ll
ll
(Usagi) Eh... you could say that.
ll
(Mamoru) well, if you're still a little drowsy, I can make us some hot tea while you're here.
ll
(Usagi) That sounds...
ll
ll
In her head, she thought that, even if this was a dream, this was the closest she'll be to Mamoru for a long time, so she might as well make the most of it.
ll
ll
(Usagi)... wonderful about now.
ll
ll
(Mamoru) Great, come on in, get comfortable and I'll get that tea ready for us.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Okay!
ll
ll
ll
ll
ll
It was hard. She couldn't tell if all of this was... a memory... a dream or even, in the extreme case... real life time travel. She had a sneaking suspicion that this wouldn't last, but she wondered, to what extent?
ll
ll
ll
But after Mamoru had brought their tea and held her close, she knew that regardless of her situation, she would happily live in the moment of this mirage.
ll
ll
ll
{Real Life}
ll
ll
ll
On the Moon, the Lotus watched Garuda... She felt... for the first time in ages, she felt something.
ll
ll
It was the same feeling as when she first rediscovered the Tenno... Worried... and frustration.
ll
ll
Back then, she was too late and the factions of the time almost had their hands on her children. But now, they are causing harm to themselves within the Warframes, nearly damaging their psyche had she not thought quickly enough.
ll
ll
ll
ll
Surprisingly enough, the two that the main one was usually arguing with, came by to visit her once a week.
ll
ll
But, at the same time, the battles were continuing, each one becoming more difficult than the last.
ll
ll
With Usagi and the Warframe recovering, she had no time to search within the Archives for weapons to give Ember and Mesa. For now, they had learned parts of their abilities and have begun using them and nearly mastering them. But it was a slow process since they were almost never available. But when they were, they were helpful, taking Garuda's place among the team for the time being.
ll
ll
It would take Garuda and Usagi two whole days to recover, uninterrupted. But what was unfortunate, was that Garuda was once a human, and that may have unforeseen circumstances that will only be revealed after they are separated and Usagi is removed from Garuda.
ll
ll
ll
With everything going on, The Lotus couldn't help but wonder... there was still ONE presence left on Earth that hadn't come to the Moon yet. Did the girls know this person? Were they what the girls called a "Former Sailor Guardian"? Would she, or he, be willing to lend their strength to the cause? Or would it be similar to the first two, where she would only assist them during certain times? Only time would tell.
ll
ll
ll
{Usagi}
ll
ll
ll
After having tea with Mamoru, Usagi felt more relaxed than ever. She was happily walking home, having felt the touch of her lover for the first time in over a year. She reminisced the places she was seeing. Most of them were gone in the present day. They were places that only the teens and adults at the time would understand. But now, she got the chance to see them, just one more time. Something everyone wishes they could do.
ll
ll
She then went somewhere, that hadn't felt the same since then, Furuhara Motoki's cafe. Ever since the Sailor Guardians broke up, every time she tries to cheer up there, it ends up doing nothing for her anymore. It just reminds her of how it used to be.
ll
ll
She walked inside, and she was greeted by a slightly younger Motoki and Unazuki Furahara.
ll
ll
Taking a seat by a window, she looked around. The cafe was teeming with life. It was something she missed when she got older. She missed coming here and talking to her friends when she still considered them her friends that she would happily die for.
ll
ll
Unazuki, as per usual, was all over the place. Taking an order one second, then bringing out another order in the next. Then she spotted Usagi and ran over to her.
ll
ll
ll
(Unazuki) Hey Usagi! Weird seeing you here this early in the morning. Everything okay?
ll
ll
(Usagi) Don't worry, I just got up early for once, that's all. (Why does everyone assume something's wrong, just because I woke up early!? Was it always like this and I never noticed?)
ll
ll
ll
(Unazuki) Can I get ya anything while you're here?
ll
ll
(Usagi) I'll probably get a small sundae, haven't had one in a few years that's been any good except for here.
ll
ll
(Unazuki) Okay, got it! I'll bring that out in a few minutes!
ll
ll
Off she went, leaving as quickly as she arrived.
ll
ll
ll
Usagi took a moment to just... relax... look around.
ll
ll
Here she saw that, she really was back in the year 1992...
ll
ll
The way people dressed, they way they spoke to one another...
ll
ll
The way buildings looked, the way things were advertised...
ll
ll
Although it had only been a few years, it felt like a different world around her.
ll
ll
Unazuki came back with Usagi's order.
ll
ll
(Unazuki) Here ya go Usagi, anything else-
ll
ll
(Unazuki) Hey... are you okay?
ll
ll
Usagi felt her face. Under her eyes, she could feel a wetness, a tear coming from her eye.
ll
ll
(Usagi) It's nothing... It just feels like I haven't been here in a while.
ll
ll
(Unazuki) Are you sure, I can-
ll
ll
ll
Another customer waved Unazuki over.
ll
ll
(Unazuki) Coming!
ll
Before she left, she glanced at Usagi.
ll
ll
(Unazuki) Hey, if somethings wrong, just let me know.
ll
ll
Then Unazuki Furahara went off to continue her day.
ll
ll
After finishing the Sundae, Usagi pulled out her old phone and went through the contacts.
ll
ll
The bars surrounding her selection were blinking, waiting for her to call the person she had selected.
ll
ll

ll
ll
Her thumb hovered over the call button for what felt like forever. She couldn't remember how many times she called this name, how she needed her so many times for a crutch to lean on... and she never answered.
ll
ll
She finally gathered the courage and called the number.
ll
ll
ll
The phone rang a few times, searching for a connection.
ll
ll
After the first three times, Usagi was about to end the call, before someone on the other end picked up.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Um... hello?
ll
ll
(Rei) Hey Usagi! I'm at your house. Minako wanted everyone to go shopping together for Kimono's for tonight's festival. You ready?
ll
ll
(Usagi) You came to my house? I MEAN!- I'm sorry Rei, I'm not there right now.
ll
ll
(Rei) What the- you left your bed so early!? Before the afternoon?
ll
ll
(Usagi) Yeah, I did.
ll
ll
(Rei) So where are you?
ll
ll
(Usagi) I'm at Motoki's Cafe. I'll meet you outside.
ll
ll
(Rei) Are you sure? It's a little cold outside and-
ll
ll
(Usagi) Don't worry, if I meet you outside, you won't miss me inside.
ll
ll
ll
(Rei) Ok then, see you in a few minutes.
ll
ll
ll
After about ten minutes, Rei walked up to Usagi.
ll
ll
After exchanging some pleasantries, Rei walked with Usagi to meet up with everyone.
ll
ll
Walking next to Rei, Usgi almost felt the tears welling up again.
ll
ll
THIS, was all she wanted all those times ago... to just BE around one of them, be in their presence. Now, it was like a dream, being able to just walk with one of them.
ll
ll
Rei turned to Usagi, confused.
ll
ll
(Rei) Hey. Are you crying Usagi.
ll
ll
She indeed, had shed a few tears as they walked, but Usagi already had an excuse.
ll
ll
(Usagi) It's the wind! The cold air gets in my eyes.
ll
ll
(Rei) This is why you should've stayed inside, Usagi! I swear, when it comes to you...
ll
ll
The two walked until they were at the local mall in Minato.
ll
ll
It was a small shopping center. During their time together, Usagi forgot how many times they visited this place to hang out together. Whether it was to buy ingredients for cooking, school supplies, basically any reason thay had to come to this place together, they did.
ll
ll
It wasn't until after they disbanded and everyone started their careers did they stop hanging out here. Every time Usagi came here to try and relax, it never failed to serve as a reminder of the way things used to be, as did many things.
ll
ll
ll
When Rei and Usagi found everyone else, Usagi couldn't help but enjoy the geniune happiness she saw on Minako's face. Nowadays, it was a forced smile for hundreds of thousands of fans every time she did a show.
ll
ll
(Minako) USAAAAGIIII!
ll
ll
Minako ran up and tackled Usagi with a hug.
ll
Usagi felt a little bit of air be forced out of her system.
ll
ll
(Minako) So sorry I woke you up, but this was important.
ll
ll
ll
ll
Minako's apology fell on deaf ears as Usagi looked at everyone.
ll
ll
Minako was happy and full of life...
ll
Makoto wasn't full of bruises or scars...
ll
Rei was more relaxed and timid.
ll
Haruka, Michiru, Setsuna and Hotaru were all wearing normal, human clothes.
ll
ll
ll
There they all were... laughing... smiling at one another... being the good friends she used to know...
ll
ll
But in the midst of her reminiscing, she saw something extremely out of place behind Setsuna.
ll
ll
It was a humanoid figure, but before she could make out any details, Minako shook her back to the group.
ll
ll
(Minako) Um hello? Earth to Usagi?
ll
ll
(Usagi) C'mon! Let go find a Kimono before they run out!
ll
Before going with Minako, Usagi looked back to where she had seen the out of place, humanoid figure. But, alas, it was gone.
ll
The rest of the afternoon went normally. She went with everyone to try on a number of different looking kimonos. Each one made everyone seem radiant.
ll
ll
But, finally, after only a few hours of searching, they had all found kimonos to wear for the night.
ll
ll
ll
(Rei) So the plan's the same right? We'll meet at the base of the Hikawa Shrine?
ll
ll
(Minako) That's right!
ll
(Haruka) Well, we'll see all of you in a few hours!
ll
ll
Everyone went home to get ready.
ll
ll
ll
ll
Later in the evening, after the sun had went down, Usagi walked to the Shrine to meet everyone.
ll
ll
ll
ll
Rei wore a Rust Red and pure black kimono, it had an intricate pattern that created a beautifully woven pattern of opposites throughout the design.
ll
ll
Ami wore a deep sea blue kimono that had images of crystals and snowflakes all over it to create w winter-themed Kimono that nearly matched her dark blue hair.
ll
ll
Minako wore a bright yellow kimono that was fitted with tiny pink stars on the sleeves and the collar to create a design that attracted many eyes. Minako looked slightly uncomfortable, wishing less people would stare at her, but nonetheless, she wore it with pride.
ll
ll
Makoto wore a kimono that featured a forest design. it was many different shades of green, that seemed to go with her Sailor uniform.
ll
ll
Michiru, Haruka, Setsuna and Hotaru all wore kimonos that matched the planets they represented.
ll
ll
They wore flat colors with constellations on the back that feature their planets. (This was extremely difficult and over the top in Haruka's opinion, but Michiru convinced her to do it with her along with Hotaru and Setsuna.
ll
ll
Then, after Usagi had finished checking everyone out, she could feel the blood flushing her face as Mamoru walked over to them in a pitch black kimono that featured a tuxedo design on the front.
ll
He and the girls were on their way.
ll
The girls had fun. They went to various stalls, tried amazing street food, played small games with strangers. It was the greatest night that Usagi had had in a long time.
ll
ll
But as they were having fun, Usagi sensed a deadly presence.
ll
ll
She looked around and saw a woman in a kimono of red, white and gold.
ll
ll
After Usagi made eye contact with the Woman, she began to walk away.
ll
Usagi excused herself for a moment, stating that she had forgotten something from before.
ll
ll
ll
The others were none the wiser and continued to have fun along with Mamoru and a few of his friends.
ll
ll
Usagi persued the woman, going to a small hill outside of the festival.
ll
ll
When Usagi had finally caught up to the woman, she was standing at the top of the hill, staring back out to the festival.
ll
ll
Now, Usago saw the woman in full view.
ll
She was naturally pale in color. Here eyes were a crimson red. She had black hair that was tied
ll
She wore a kimono that was simply incredible.
ll
ll
It was a striking pattern of velvet red and white, with golden stitching. The endings on the sleeves and the collar were also gold to complete the look.
ll
ll
ll
(Woman) So... you are Usagi Tsukino. The operator who uses me to fight the sentients.
ll
ll
ll
(Usagi) What does- Who are you anyway?
ll
ll
ll
(Woman) Well... I'm sure you could've guessed it by now but... I am the one you call, Garuda.
ll
ll
ll
(Usagi) You're Garuda..? You're one of the people that became a Warframe?
ll
ll
(Garuda) Indeed. I was infected by a strain of infestation, treated like a test subject, then put into the care of a scarred child to fight against sentients millennia ago. And here I am again, at the mercy of someone such as yourself.
ll
ll
(Garuda) But, I must admit... this is vastly different than any previous operators.
ll
(Garuda) Under normal circumstances, I would be seeing the Orokin empire, the Zarimen Ten Zero... but this... This is none of those things.
ll
ll
ll
(Usagi) Then what is it?
ll
ll
(Garuda) Well, the Void DOES work in mysterious ways. It seems that your wish to be with the ones you treasured most was granted. I've watched you be with these people all day and every time, you seem to be deeply and emotionally impacted.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Yeah... I guess you're right.
ll
ll
Garuda turned around to look at the Moon, but was completely taken by surprise.
ll
ll
(Garuda) Is that... really... Lua?
ll
ll
(Usagi) Yes. That is what you call Lua, but we today just call it the Moon.
ll
ll
ll
(Garuda) I've heard ancient retellings of what Lua looked like before the Orokin and sentients had their ways with it... but I'd never imagined it to be so... beautiful.
ll
ll
(Garuda) And this place... What is this place?
ll
ll
(Usagi) This? We are in a place called the Minato ward of Tokyo Japan.
ll
ll
(Garuda) Japan...?
ll
ll
Garuda seemed puzzled by everything around her.
ll
ll
(Garuda) This is all just so... odd. The Orokin... they... never had anything so simple, yet so magnificent. There are so many vibrant colors, the people are happy, no one is fighting... it's all so... strange, to me.
ll
ll
ll
(Usagi) Well, your Lotus told us that you had laid dormant ever since something called the "New War".
ll
ll
(Garuda) Although I'd rather not admit it, that was a time I'll never come to forget. The Tenno of the time, my fellow warframes... it was a disastrous sight that saw to the freedom of our system from most of their terror. But it seems that my services are once again needed to defend all of this from their destructive grip.
ll
ll
ll
The two shared a newfound comradery, but Garuda had more questions.
ll
ll
ll
(Garuda) Let's talk about you now.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Okay, what would you like to know?
ll
ll
ll
(Garuda) Those people. Who are they? They seem like any other human in this place, so what made them so special?
ll
ll
(Usagi) Well... it's a little complicated.
ll
ll
(Garuda) I've lived many life times, full of complicated circumstances. This won't be any different, I assure you.
ll
ll
(Usagi) They... were, my friends at one point.
ll
ll
(Garuda) Were? What does that mean!? Are they... deceased?
ll
ll
(Usagi) WHAT!? NO, nonono of course not.
ll
ll
(Usagi) They just... grew apart from me, with their careers and their own lives.
ll
ll
(Garuda) Odd. I would've thought that when individuals such as yourselves would have stayed together. But if they separated from you so easily, then what even brought you together in the first place?
ll
ll
(Usagi) You really want to know?
ll
(Garuda) Of course I do!
ll
ll
(Usagi) Okay... but you cannot laugh at this, I'm serious!
ll
ll
(Garuda) I won't.
ll
ll
Usagi took a deep breath before explaining the end.
ll
ll
(Usagi) The five of us were brought together to recreate a group known as the Sailor Guardians. A group of magical girls who fought off threats that would threaten the safety of our town, all the way to our entire planet. We were taught to believe that we were reincarnations of these great and powerful warriors that would come about to rebuild the "Silver Millenium" on Earth, when the time was right.
ll
ll
Garuda had a serious look on her face.
ll
ll
(Garuda) Do you, by chance, remember your past lives?
ll
ll
(Usagi) Ever since we were made aware of them, the memory is hazy, but we remember who we were, and dying, of course.
ll
ll
(Garuda) Do you... remember who you were?
ll
ll
ll
(Usagi) I, was Princess Serenity, daughter of the Queen of the Silver Millenium, Queen Serenity.
ll
ll
Garuda suddenly stood up and faced Usagi, taken aback.
ll
ll
(Garuda) By the seven... it's you... you were one of the Children of the Zarimen...
ll
ll
Garuda came closer to Usagi.
ll
ll
(Garuda) To think... that I would be reunited with you... after so long... my first operator... Princess Serenity.
ll
ll
(Usagi) I... was a tenno back then? But how!? I don't! I have no memories of you! No memories at ALL! But... I remember the Queen!- She told me about you!
ll
ll
(Garuda) Here, allow me to show you... a fragment of the memories that were taken from you.
ll
ll
From under her red and white sleeve, Garuda revealed a golden talon that slashed the air.
ll
ll
The force of the slash created a small portal and the two walked through.
ll
ll
They were on the Moon, but it wasn't the Moon, it was the Silver Millenium.
ll
ll
As the two entered, there was debris falling everywhere, rumblings beneath the ground that shook everything around the two.
ll
There were Warframes, shooting, slicing, dodging. Moving all around them as a war raged on the Moon.
ll
There were humanoid soldier that wore heavy looking armor that were ugly, grotesque and deformed. They too had weapons of gold and white.
ll
There were also other humanoid soldiers that looked like they were from a sci-fi movie. they wore suits that looked like space suits and blocky helmets that glows in the center.
ll
ll
She heard them speaking, but in a language that sounded ancient and at the same time like gibberish.
ll
ll
The Tenno fought and easily tore through their ranks.
ll
ll
But they were pushed back by the Sentient forces that adapted to their attacks.
ll
ll
Then, six Warframes came from behind Usagi and Garuda, herself being one of them.
ll
ll
They stood in front of them. Garuda at the center, an unfamiliar looking Warframe at her right, Ember at her left. Then besides Ember, was Mesa. Besides the unknown Warframe was another one.
ll
ll
After the six had landed in front of them, they bolted forth into battle, taking on the sentients and putting up a good fight, but they were being worn down as the other two types of enemies were advancing on them when the three, Gara, Banshee, Octavia and Nova all joined the fight alongside them.
ll
ll
Their group was one of many squadrons that were fighting a large scale enemy.
ll
ll
There was a sound of jets above them, but to Usagi's amazement, there were Warframes in the skies using what looked like metal wings to combat odd-looking aerial units using heavy weapons to shoot from the skies, and giant warships, supposedly called, RAILJACKS, to destroy large scale.
ll
ll
After a few seconds, the gunfire became so loud and the shouting, so close, that Garuda decided that it might've been too much for the girl and took her back to where they had came from.
ll
ll
ll
After uncovering her ears and regaining her surroundings, she snapped her head to Garuda.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Was... Was all of that... real? Were we really there!? How could I have ever forgotten something so monumental, how-
ll
ll
(Garuda) Usagi. The reason those memories were locked away, is because your mother, the queen, decided that you, and all of the other warriors that were reincarnated, should have a chance to forget the war, and move on after the Sentient forces retreated and the Orokin empire was overthrown.
ll
ll
(Garuda) But since they are back, it seems that the memories will return to you.
ll
ll
The world around the two began to brighten, into a white light.
ll
ll
ll
(Garuda) It seems that we've healed up to where you are able to transfer out of me unharmed. Goodbye Usagi, we'll talk soon.
ll
ll
Before Usagi could shout at Garuda to wait, she and her shouts were enveloped by the white light.
ll
ll
Out of the chamber Usagi transferred out of Garuda, shouting her name one last time.
ll
ll
ll
The Lotus was already by her side.
ll
ll
(The Lotus) Usagi! Usagi, are you okay!?
ll
ll
(Usagi) Yeah! Yeah, I'm okay. Just had a heart to heart with Garuda.
ll
ll
(The Lotus) Garuda? You... spoke to your Warframe?
ll
ll
(Usagi) I did. I spoke to her as a human, before being infected.
ll
ll
(The Lotus) Interesting... there has only ever been one case where an operator was able to speak to the human host of a Warframe. But that was supposedly an isolated incident.
ll
ll
ll
(Usagi) Really huh?
ll
ll
ll
(Usagi) So... can I go home?
ll
ll
(The Lotus) I don't suppose why not. But before you go, would you mind recounting your time with Garuda?
ll
ll
ll
(Usagi) Sure! And I hope you like stories...
ll

End of Episode 5: A Second Dream?
