I've been thinking of writing a story about Adam being a sinner, and I've read amazing stories like Hope in Hell and the series of Profane that can do this way better than me, but I still decided to give it a shot... Those stories heavily inspire me, and a particular AU on Youtube where Abel is the leader of the exorcists and not Adam, Adam aims to give sinners redemption just like Charlie, saffiro's AU is my main inspiration for this.
Heaven.
A few hours after the last extermination.
All the angels in the council flew from one place to another in a panicked state, paperwork was everywhere, documents were flung throughout, and nonstop arguments filled the room. The reason? The last extermination failed.
They lost many of their exorcists, and not only did they lose their commander: Adam. But Hell had found a way to attack and kill the Angels, using their own weapons against them.
To make it worse, thanks to Adam's sloppiness, Hell now had a full arsenal of angelic steel at their disposal to use at any time, at any moment. Sera's worst nightmare had become a reality...
How could he have made such a terrible mistake!? Sera couldn't believe it, he always assured things were fine, "under control" he would always say waving his hand! This is nothing of the sort, they lost people! They gave Hell the means to uprise! Heaven is in danger and without a protector...
Adam... He has failed, and the price for it was his life.
He's not here to be scolded by Sera, he was not here to make an excuse, to put on a puppy face... To nervously laugh and crack a joke trying to break the tension... To attempt an escape with Lute and then laugh thinking he got away with it...
Laugh, Adam won't laugh anymore.
Adam won't smile anymore.
Adam won't be here anymore.
Adam is gone.
Her vision blurred, and something wet slid down her cheek. A tear...? Sera brought her hand to her face, touching the liquid coming from her eyes... Indeed, these were tears.
No, she couldn't possibly be... But she is.
There's no way that Sera would cry over the loss of— Her son…
A pain grew in her chest, the tears became uncontrollable and the image of Adam refused to leave her mind. It kept nagging her no matter how much she tried the memories of Adam kept coming one after the other, and then another, and another one, without end.
And the Lord formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
"Sera..." A grand voice called for her, Sera knew Who was calling her, she immediately turned around and was met with a wonderful gaze. He was here, He came down to see her and her brothers and sisters. "I call him: Adam. He is the first man"
Next to him, there he was... The one who would become the Father of Humanity, amazed by the sight of the Angels in front of him, he was like a curious child trying to understand what the Seraphims were.
"I entrust you his care" He said, with a wide smile on His eyeless face as He saw his creation next to him, like a little boy shy of the people in front of him, the four eyes behind Him full of kindness and joy, he then returned his gaze to Sera, which made Adam follow and look up at the tall Seraphim as well.
"Of course, Father...!" Sera did not expect to hear those words, but she would not refuse a petition from Father. She extended her wings and flew in their direction, as she arrived the Seraphim could see the face of amazement Adam had, it was quite adorable.
"Greetings, I am Sera, the High Seraphim" Sera presented herself, bowing down as a salutation.
"...Sera" Adam repeated under his breath, he was truly amazed by the height of the woman.
Sera smiled gently, it was such an odd feeling she was having... It made her chest feel warm.
"I think you two will get along just fine" He said, arms behind His back, pleased by what He was seeing, it was His queue to leave but before He could teleport–
"Wait, Father!" Sera called for Him. "I am not daring to question You but I must know, please... Why do You trust me with his care?"
He didn't answer right away, He held His chin, thinking the appropriate words to say but his smile never faded away. "I believe those who are to come will need aid, guidance, care, and love, a special someone to watch their steps and see them grow... Since he's the first, you can be that first guide for him Sera, you have the heart for it"
That being said, he finally teleported away, leaving Adam under the care of Sera, the Seraphim touched her chest with both hands by the words of Father and her attention went to Adam, who was a little nervous.
Sera understood what He meant, and she made a vow to ensure his growth. Another 7 Seraphims, higher than her flew down, curious by the creation of Father too, Adam saw them all and couldn't help himself from feeling small, except for a peculiar one who was surprisingly smaller than him staring at him with great curiosity too..
Sera did not waste any more time and kneeled next to him, offering her hand. "Do you wish to see the Garden of Eden? It shall be your new home"
Upon hearing those words, his eyes sparkled in amazement, nodding as he accepted her hand.
And that day, Sera for the first time felt one of the warmest feelings she has ever felt.
Sera was hyperventilating her heart racing like never before, the pain in her chest growing stronger by the second as more tears continued to escape her eyes without a single sign of stopping.
"Sera! Look what I just created! Do you like it...?"
His creativity, no more.
"I prepared something for you Sera, I hear you and the other Angels sing all the time... I decided to try it too, with an instrument of my own, I hope you like it!"
His passion for music, no more.
Memory, after memory, all of them rewinding in her mind non-stop, from their time in Eden where she would see him sleeping in the trees, exploring new places in the garden with excitement, his happiness when meeting Lilith for the first time, trying to show him around everything he knew about the garden, his broken heart when Lilith escaped from the garden with Lucifer, the eyes of someone hopelessly in love when meeting Eve for the first time.
His arrival to Heaven, the sadness in his heart when finding Eve was not here... Remembering how from there everything started to go downhill for Adam. His attitude changed, his smile changed, it was no longer a kind smile, it became arrogant, distant...
Was he distant? Or was he pushed away?
The sensation is there again, the feeling of her heart being stabbed over, and over again.
The last memory of Adam... Was him apologizing to her.
"Sorry" Before he extended his wings and flew away, shame in his face by the disappointed stare from Sera.
The last thing Adam will ever see from here will be that... Disappointment.
The point of break arrived, and Sera finally screamed. Her agonizing screen echoed in the room as she held her face, her nails digging into her skin, not enough to cut her but still to leave a mark as her desperation continued to grow...
Sera cried.
The High Seraphim cried her soul out.
How much time has passed? People knocked at her door, but she refused to open, screaming to leave and so they did. They were waiting for her in the hearing, to have the meeting and decide the next course of action immediately. But she can't... She can't, her heart is torn apart. The job commended by Father... She failed it.
No, it's not failing the job it was entrusted to her that pains her.
... It's losing her son.
Sera didn't know for how long she cried, for how long minutes or perhaps hours she locked herself in that office screaming and sobbing, it was her fault, if she didn't allow the exterminations in the first place, if she didn't let Adam go in the first place, then he wouldn't have died.
He wouldn't have been... Murdered.
That's right... Murder. Adam's death, it's a murder, assassination, by the hands of sinners.
By the sinful and filthy hands of those demons
Sera ceased to cry up to the realization that Adam's demise wasn't only her responsibility, now... It's because of the sinners in hell that the First Man... Went down. It's...
It's their fault, wanting to rebel, wanting to upraise... Sera knows this all too well, they already lived it once. Lucifer did it...
Something in Sera's heart began to darken the more she thought about it... Those sinners, those demons always taking everything from everyone.
And now they want to be here? Lucifer's misguided daughter with that Hazbin Hotel plan tried to-... Right… now a sinner is in their fields.
Sir Pentious.
His presence makes everything more complicated! Souls can be redeemed? How?! How did the Morningstar daughter manage to do such a thing? Does this mean that the sinners, these demons , have a way into heaven? Sera couldn't believe it.
"Don't you see Sera!? This means sinners can be redeemed!" Emily's voice echoes inside her mind... The joy and happiness in Emily's face...
Sera knows Emily is just hopeful... She's a kind girl who wishes the best for everyone in heaven, and her kind soul can't let her ignore what's happening in Hell anymore... She's so well intentioned that now she's making the happiness of these Sinners her responsibility too.
Emily's image burdens the weight in her chest, but if this continues... If Sera allows this to continue… then Adam won't be the only one...
Emily could be the next. No, she can't allow it, it would drive her insane if she lost Emily now too! She can't lose her too!
It can't be allowed, divine judgment is clear... And trusting this "redemption" would only lead to Eden all over again, or worse. Sera can't take that risk, even if it pains her to break Emily's illusion, she's too naive to understand the risk that involves letting sinners inside.
Sir Pentious has to go.
Sinners must face divine judgment.
Sera rubbed her face... Took a deep breath and combed her hair back together. There's a meeting she must attend to.
Hell
The Battle was over… the Hotel was repaired. The only thing left was to clean up the mess outside. Lucifer stepped outside the Hotel, while Charlie and her friends began to plan what was next on their list, there was much to do.
Lucifer smiled at the sight of her daughter chatting with everyone, he couldn't be any more proud. The King of Hell took a small breath and extended his wings to fly towards a specific spot outside, the same place he left his coat after the battle ended.
Under it layed Adam's body, covered by his white coat, now soaked in golden blood. He took a deep breath before removing it.
His eyes were closed, and there were no signs of breathing, no signs of life at all. Lucifer closed his eyes, frowning and clenching his fist before covering his face again.
"You had it coming, you prick..." Lucifer muttered, but despite saying those words, it didn't feel like he truly meant it. He remained there kneeling next to his body without saying any other word for minutes, just...
Silent company.
. . .
Lucifer remembers when back in the day it was only Adam and him, in Eden, things were different. At that time, he would lay down next to him under the trees, sitting in silence beside him, enjoying Eden's harmony and peace.
Now this? This just felt depressing. What is he even trying to do right now? Adam is dead.
And that's for the best, without him exterminations will no longer be a threat, his daughter will be safe, and maybe he can convince Heaven that they need to give her and her idea a chance, not like they would risk the chance of engaging in a war with them now that they could fight back.
War is the thing they wish to avoid the most, he knows it from personal experience all too well.
Yet, why doesn't it feel right? It's this sensation in his chest that's telling him to stop smiling like everything is okay when it isn't. Things change, nothing will be like before and it's time to move forward, aid his daughter and take matters into his own hands with his Kingdom.
The Kingdom that Lilith entrusted him...
Lucifer took a deep breath before standing up. Once he did, his phone began to ring.
He had a bad feeling about this...
The ID confirmed this feeling. He closed his eyes, refusing to read that name again. But it was to be expected, he ignored the call and just decided to wait for the eventual text message.
And as said, the text message arrived:
"Heaven. Now."
...This is going to be a long day, that's for sure.
"Dad?" Charlie called for him, Lucifer turned around and noticed her daughter along with a couple of her friends, and her girlfriend. Maggie? Was it?
"Char char!" Lucifer said her nickname, and with a smile, he approached her. "I'm going to be a little busy, I have a meeting to attend, yada yada, blah blah! Boring kingdom duties!" Lucifer spun his cane in one hand, before hitting the floor with it.
"Oh- Do you need some help with that? Maybe we can-" Charlie offered, but Lucifer panicked. The last thing he wants is to have her in Heaven now of all times!
"No! No no no! No need, my little duckie!" Lucifer panicked at first, but quickly recovered, booping her nose. "I can do this, it's just...You know, things that need to be done by the King!"
He then glanced behind him, looking over his shoulder, at the body of who once used to be... The First Man...
He failed to see the nails gripping the floor.
"Although... Maybe you can help me with something?" Lucifer rubbed his neck a little. "Behind you it's... Uhm you know his body..." He made a small pause, letting Charlie process it first. "...Maybe you can take care of it? Bury it around, or perhaps take it to the canniba- wait no no, don't do that! If they taste archangel flesh they'll demand more- Uh-" Lucifer then held his chin thinking for a moment. "You know what? Just bury it... Please?"
Charlie didn't know how to respond, she blinked a few times, but this was not a request she would've denied... "I'll do it. Even if you didn't ask me to, I would've done it"
"...Of course you would" Lucifer smiled at her, holding her cheek for a moment. "Well, it's time to get to work!"
Leaving heaven waiting is a big no! He spun his cane one last time, he extended his wings, and started to fly away, far enough that Charlie wouldn't see the portal opening to Heaven.
Charlie stood staring at her Father flying away, she didn't see that her friends went to check on the body that her Father trusted her.
Angel removed the coat and his eyes widened in surprise, as Vaggie covered her mouth in shock, Husker for his part just raised an eyebrow as Nifty giggled in excitement.
"Charlie... You got to see this!"
Heaven
Failure.
Failure. Failure. Failure. Failure. Failure. Failure. Failure. Failure. Failure. Failure. Failure. Failure. Failure. Failure. Failure. Failure. Failure. Failure. Failure. Failure. Failure. Failure. Failure. Failure. Failure. Failure. Failure. Failure. Failure. Failure. Failure. Failure. Failure. Failure. Failure. Failure. Failure. Failure. Failure. Failure. Failure. Failure. Failure. Failure. Failure. Failure.
Failure.
"AAAAAGHHH!" A scream, a scream from the soul, a scream of pain of a broken heart.
Lute kept throwing everything away, her room was a complete mess, a TV broken, a sofa upside down, glass shattered everywhere, windows shattered, holes in the wall, and overall everything upside down.
This pain, doesn't matter how much she screams, how much she cries, this is not a pain she can get rid of this pain, this feeling of suffocation that doesn't allow her to breathe properly, to think straight, all she can do is cry as she continued her rampage this time taking down the refrigerator.
She failed, her job was to protect Adam and she failed. Her mission as a lieutenant, her job as her bodyguard.
... Her promise to him.
Lute stopped taking everything down, kneeling in the middle of the kitchen... Down on the floor, there was a photo, a photo of Adam and her. it was the last they took together... At what moment did she throw it here? She doesn't know, when you're blinded by rage it's hard to tell...
This photo holds a special feeling for Lute, they're both together, in their uniforms but... Adam remained maskless. The first time Adam trusted her to see his face, the first time Adam showed trust in more meaning than just his companion during the exterminations.
The first time Lute started to feel... These feelings for him.
For the first time ever, Lute felt something when it was not tearing demons part by part. The feeling of company, the feeling of joy, having fun.
... Feeling love.
And now... It's been taken from her, the filth that lives in that infernal pit took everything from her. Lute's rage began to build again, her fist met the floor, breaking it. At that moment, she made the promise to protect Adam not only as a lieutenant but as a woman that has a special place for him in her life.
And now, he was no longer here, she failed him, she failed her promise. The only one who ever understood someone like her, to never be freaked out or scared, was no longer here.
...But this is not going to stay like this. No, Lute will have her revenge, without Adam here, she's in charge now. Right?
Of course she is... Even if it pains her to admit. Now is not the time to cry, now is not the time to waste time in pitiful feelings like these. It was time to act, it was time to ensure each one of them received a taste of karma.
Lilith has been warned if she wishes to stay here... Then she must take care of that bitch she calls daughter, but that is not enough. They deserve karma, they deserve pain multiplied by 10!
Lute stood up, taking a deep breath to keep her emotions in order. Once she was able to bottle them up, she cleaned her tears with her only hand and walked outside. There's an army that she needs to prepare.
There were two types of pain in this world.
The physical and the emotional, one can heal, but the other leaves scars for life. Scars are ugly, scars are a reminder of that pain... And when that scar carries both physical and emotional pain, it's better to hide it.
So he did that, he kept his scars hidden the entire time. Refusing to acknowledge their existence.
But no matter how much you try to hide them, the more you keep looking away from them, the harder they will hit you when they finally come back and strike you.
And so, it happened just like that.
The letter in his hands... The words that he read in there, and the signature that confirmed it... Everything together began to hit him, over, and over again. Once again, one of them has to take something from him...
One of them has to ruin it all...
One of them... Took his Father's life, but this time there's no afterlife in the afterlife.
This is the end, his Father will no longer be.
He ripped the letter in two and threw it away... His hands trembled in anger and clenched into fists.
No, he can't lose his temper now.
He knows what this means... This is something he should've done a long time ago, this is something... He knew better than anyone if had done it before the results of today's extermination would've been far different.
He opened the door of his house and walked outside... He must head to Heaven's HeadQuarters.
Divine Punishment is about to have a new meaning for sinners.
"Fuck me..."
"...Where am I?"
"Why do I feel so light...?"
"Damn it... Lute, where are you?"
"We need to take care of him! Now! Before it's too late!"
"That voice... Is that Vagatha?"
"No! Dad told me to take care of him! Not get rid of him!"
"...What? What are they on about?"
"I believe this is taking care of him in a very efficient way"
"The battle is over, we don't need to continue to shatter blood like that!"
"...No seriously, what the fuck are they talking about?"
It sounds like a clear argument, but he still can open his eyes, and can't fully understand what they're arguing about, he barely can even recognize the voices, only the voice of that traitor bitch. Wait-
"... GUYS! He's waking up!"
"Shit, Move Angel, I'll take care of him!"
"VAGGIE NO!"
"Charlie, please step aside!"
"I SAID NO!"
His eyes finally responded, and he was able to open them... His eyes still needed to adjust to the light of the place, he had to blink a few times because of how blurry everything was. After a couple of seconds, he finally was able to see more clearly, and the first thing he could see...
Were those clown freaks from the Hotel, staring at him. Charlie, smiling nervously in the middle, Alastor tilting his head with curiosity, Angel with a smirk, Cherri next to him smiling just as bitchy as her spider friend, while Husker took a sip of a bottle of booze, Nifty clinging on the bed staring at him like some piece of juicy meat, and finally Vaggie, holding her spear next to her with a stare full of hatred.
"...Good morning!" Charlie finally said holding her hands together, with the most awkward smile ever.
...Nah, fuck this, he's passing out again.
Welp, there you go friends.
