The ballad of newt and owl: chapter 7

Chapter 7: here comes the mushroom man, part 1

It was an ordinary school day for Luz noceda and Marcy wu.

Or it would be, if some new… exchange students were coming in. Unfortunately, Marcy may or may not have forgotten that it was actually happening.

"Hey, Lu- whoah!"

Marcy had just walked into the classroom to find a large group crowded around the exchange students. Some were enthralled by gus' fabulous magic 'tricks', and some were amazed by hunter's numerous scars. Some were Drawn to Willow's natural charisma.

"Wow, 10 minutes in class and more friends here than either of us, huh?"

Marcy turned around to see Luz, grinning at the three. "As much as a love Ams, Gus and Willow were… probably my first friends ever."

"Yeah, i can relate. I had a really hard time making friends… honestly i'm really lucky i found Anne and Sasha early on. Anne was really kind and Sasha always stuck up for us, even if her methods were… unconventional."

"What was your old school like?"

"Well, it was nice, but it was a religious school to an extent," marcy explained. "And there were annoying kids. Maggie was always a pain in the butt, and there was this one degenerate called Darryl… yeah, he had these weird fantasies about Anne."

It was then that the three witches noticed them, leaving the people they were talking to.

"Oh, hi Marcy! Luz!" Said willow.

"How's it going?" Gus smiled at them.

"Yeah, i have no idea how schools work." Hunter said deadpanned.

Hunter was wearing an orange beanie with his yellow jumper to hide his ears. Gus was using illusion magic to conceal his, and willow had hidden her's with her hair.

"Hey, is that amity?" Asked willow, pointing at a girl at the front of the classroom. The girl looked back in confusion.

"Ehm, no," luz said. "That's amy. She kinda sucks."

"Hey! I heard that, Luzer!" She said back. Then she spotted hunter, and began to walk up to the group. "Oh, hey there. You new?" She said, smirking.

"Ehm… yeah?" Hunter said, confused.

"Well, little note, don't hang out with these guys. You know Luzer there used to have a crush on me? As if she could ever get a girlfriend! Plus, i'm straight! Not that i'm against lesbianism, but i AM against creeps."

"Uhmmm. I'm good, thanks?" Hunter was very confused to what was going on. Willow, on the other hand, did, and was ready to stop it.

"He's taken," she smirked at amy, and took hunter's hand.

Amy blushed. "Well, that's fine! I didn't want to date him anyway!"

"Oh, she totally wanted to date him."

Amy was in the bathroom, depressed.

"How the heck did Luz go from an absolute weirdo, to someone who acted like she barely even knew herself, to an emo, to having a whole friend group in less than a year?"

Suddenly she heard a flapping.

"Hello!"

She turned to the window to see a pigeon with a purple mushroom on it's head.

"…are you speaking?"

"Yes. I'm… your… spirit… animal?"

Amy gave the pigeon a deadpan look.

"Look, just trust me on this one. You can call me Gary. But i'm here to help with all your woes!"

"…how?"

"Close your eyes, and count to ten."

She closed her eyes.

"One, two, three, fo-"

It was then that she had a butt-ton of spores smeared across her face as a vial of purple goo was thrown at her head.

Meanwhile, in LA…

"Hey, Boobchuy!"

Anne sighed. "What is it, maggie?"

"I wanna know why you were on the top of a building, fighting a giant lizard robot."

"I've told you a thousand times, maggie," she began, "it was a hollywood film gone wrong. I had auditioned for a child acting role."

"Oh come on, we all know that's a lie. Tell me how you got anime powers!"

"I can punch you with them if you want," she threatened.

"Well, it looks like it's my time to step in," Sasha said, picking Anne up and lifting her away from Maggie, causing Anne to blush profusely.

"And what happened to you, Sash? You used to be cool. Now… now you've gone soft," and Maggie grinned deviously at that.

"I can assure you, I can still very much kick your ass," Sasha gave maggie a stern look, and placed a hand on maggies shoulder.

"You see, maggie, i was gone for 7 months. We're in high school now, and this is the perfect place to regain my social status." Her grip tightened, causing maggie some pain, and she saw sasha's eyes glow pink.

"If that means putting some people in place, then so be it."

And she let go of maggie's shoulder and walked away with Anne.

Anne was in english talking to Sasha when suddenly a loud knock was heard at the window. The teacher went to check it out, only to be hit in the face with some purple goo. She made a groaning noise as her eyes began to glow purple, and picked up something out of the window, which turned out to be a giant beetle with a mushroom on it's head. She held it up and it began to speak.

"Well, well, well! Anne, Sasha!"

"Oh, you have GOT to be kidding me."

Later on in the day, Luz, marcy and the others were packing up, when the entire school went into lockdown.

"What's happening?" Asked Gus, nervous.

"Hello, students!" Said a voice from the speakers.

"Who's that?" Luz asked to nobody in particular.

"I'm afraid you all are not allowed to leave yet."

And Amy walked in to class with a mushroom growing out of her head and her eyes glowing purple.

"No way," marcy said, "is this-"

"The last of them? I love that game! Although the fact that it's in real life is scaring me," said Luz.

"No," marcy said, "this isn't a parasitic fungus from a horror game. This is… well, I haven't met them myself, but…"

"Please, call me apocathary Gary."

Hey! So I have an explanation of how gary is back and it'll come next chapter.

I'm sorry this took a while, i'm not that good at writing this fanfic lmao but i'm trying.
