Adrien opened his eyes gently so that the small amount of light wouldn't hurt his eyes, His head spinning slightly. He sat up slowly looking around to see where he was.
He seemed to be in a small cave-like room. Most of the walls had beautiful rosy vines and moss but some of the walls were just plain and rocky. He was laying on a large smooth rock, it also had a soft pile of leaves, moss and some sort of grey-ish fabric on top. There really wasn't that much stuff in the room other than a few random scattered objects on the floor.
He shifted so his legs were dangling off the stone. As he did he grunted from the pain in his shoulders. He looked down seeing that his shirt was off and there were bandages on the top part of his chest and his shoulders. He placed one of his hand on the bandages, they were soft.
"Good morning!" Said a soft feminine voice.
Adrien turned his head towards the voice.
A girl. She was lifting some vines revealing some kind of doorway. She had dark hair pulled into two small pigtails on the side of her head. She had bright blue eyes and had soft white-like skin. She was wearing a cute short blue dress with a few scrapped up and dirty parts, not many though. She also had a small flower crown on her head with purple and pink flowers a couple daisies also. But the most prominent thing about her was the fluffy white wolf ears on the top her head, along with a white wolf tail swinging from left to right
She seemed to be holding some kind of white fabric in her arms but Adrien couldn't tell what it was.
He had no words as she entered the room and made her way over to him.
"Good to see you're not dead." She smiled and sat down next to him on the stone. Adrien shifted giving her more room.
"Uhm... thank..you?" He said awkwardly lifting his hand and rubbing the back of his neck. He found himself doing that whenever he was feeling awkward, or in some cases embarrassed.
She nodded and placed the white fabric in his lap.
"Sorry, I tried to clean it but some of the blood wouldn't come out." She stated as he folded it out realizing it was his shirt.
"Oh..." was all he thought to say as he lifted his shirt.
"M! 5 feet away!" The booming voice made Adrien jump when he heard it.
Another wolf-like human was leaning against the wall next to the door. It was a male this time, he had dark grey hair that matched his ears and tail, he had bright yellow eyes and tan skin. He was wearing a blue button up shirt along with a leather vest and brown baggy pants of some kind.
The girl grumbled slightly and scooted away from Adrien... just barley though.
The male stomped over towards them with his arms folded. As he got closer Adrien noticed that he had a scar on his forehead, three scratch marks directly next to each other.
"I see that you didn't die...fascinating." The wolf said.
"Why are they so shocked by that!?" Adrien thought to himself with a confused expression on his face.
"Uhm... what are you?" Adrien broke the silence after a few minutes of plain staring.
"We could ask you the same question."The male glared.
"We're werewolves." The girl said plainly.
"M!" He turned towards her shocked that she just told him.
"What!? 'M' asked with annoyed look on her face as she folded her arms.
"You just-" He facepalmed.
Adrien started to slowly put back on his shirt while they were arguing. The girl saw and grabbed the left side of the shirt.
"Let me help." She said.
For some reason the look in her bright blue eyes made Adrien blush, but he just nodded.
"So, tell me what were you doing in our woods." The male demanded as the girl finished buttoning Adrien's shirt.
"Your woods?"
"Answer the question."
"Uhm... we were just going on a small walk."
"Yeah sure, then why did your friend have a blade!?"
"He's not my friend."
"Then why we're you with him?"
"It's... a long story..."
"Okay we have time... but still why did he have a weapon?"
"It was a pocket knife."
"So?"
"Uhm, most...humans.. " Adrien looked up at the man's fuzzy dark grey ears. "We carry them in case."
"In case of what." He darted back.
"I don't know... we get stuck or...something dangerous appears..." Adrien shifted.
The wolf was about to counter but then looked at Adrien's shoulders and decided not to say anything.
"What your name sir?" The girl asked. "You are a guy right?"
"Oh- yes I am, and my name is Adrien." He smiled.
"Marinette! But you can call me M or Mari...or whatever." She said scooting right up next to him. Her tail was wagging.
"And that's Ein!" She said pointing towards the annoyed Wolf man.
"Oh- alright... so those are attached?..." He tapped her ear and she jumped.
"Oh sorry!" He apologized.
"I-it's okay!" She said placing her face in her hands to hide her now very red face.
There was a moment of quiet before she spoke again.
"I-I'm going to go get some water!" She stated and ran through the vines.
Ein went over once she had left completely and placed a hand on Adrien shoulder leaning next to his ear.
"Listen, 'Adrien' I don't know what you're trying to do here, or why you were in the forest, and the only reason that you're not dead right now is because of her! So if you want to keep it that way you better listen to everything she asks you to do." He whispered aggressively making Adrien push back as far on the rock as he could, his back was against the wall now.
Ein backed away as soon as Marinette walked back into the room.
A few minutes of silence went by. Unless you count Adrien shifting uncomfortably as noise. Until Marinette grabbed Eins arm and whispered something in his ear. He flinched slightly then his expression turned into one of annoyance.
"No." He said at a normal volume.
"What! Why?"
"You know why."
She just folded her arms in response. He looked at her then he gestured towards Adrien. She frowned.
"Can...can I leave?"
They both turn to look at him.
"Yes-" "No." Ein's answer was cut off by Marinette's. They both had totally different opinions on the matter.
"Uhm..I don't really know if it's smart for you to leave." She sounded honest. He looked towards Ein and his face said it all. He was frowning at Adrien but looked at Marinette with respect.
"Then...what do you want me to do?"
"Stay here. At least for a few days. I don't know that much about humans, but I do know about wounds and the ones on your shoulders look like they hurt." She placed her hand on his forearm.
Adrien looked up at her while Ein started.
"Even though I think this is a terrible idea." He sighed. "I respect your decision. So I will allow him to stay here for a few days." Before Mairnette had time to be excited he cut her off saying "But only if you let me help you make sure that no one else sees him."
She nodded and hugged at him.
"Thank you!" He patted her head. Ein wasn't super tall but he was taller than Marinette. And Marinette -no offense- was short.
Adrien stared at them both not sure of what to say.
"So, Uhm- I apologize for having to keep you here, you seemed eager to leave..." Marinette rubbed her arm.
"It's...okay? Why do I need to stay here exactly?" He asked awkwardly as he went to stand up slowly off the rock.
As Adrien started to stand, he gulped after being hit by a strong glare pointed his way from Ein. Marinette didn't notice and just continued to talk.
"Well, to put it simply... it's quite dangerous. You seem strong, don't get me wrong. But we (as in werwolves) aren't the strongest creatures that roam this woods... I don't want to frighten you but I think there is probably a reason that we don't regularly see humans near our pack."
Adrien shifted and then nodded.
"Okay." He said simply.
"So will I just be staying in this room for a few days?" He took a step over placing a hand on the rocky wall.
"Yes."
"No."
Again Ein and Marinette contradicted each other.
"M, we both agreed that he wouldn't be seen by the others!" He whispered aggressively.
"Who said he would be seen if he left the cave?" Marinette smirked.
"Sir I promise to you that this isn't my fault!" Chris stated with fake confidence. He was standing in the sherif's office with his two friends/minions Jack and Heinz on both sides of him.
"Look me in the eye and start from the top and tell me who's idea it was to go into the woods." Daniel hated when people especially children went into the woods without warning anyone beforehand. He never wished of anyone to have the same fate as him and or his allies in the past.
"We were at school just minding our business." Chris started. "He came up to us and asked if we wanted to go on a walk into the woods. We agreed thinking that he meant near the entrance of the forest." He lied. "But he got aggressive with us when we realized he meant he wanted to go past the signs..." Chris turned his head to hide his face attempting to look fearful. Chris could lie but he wasn't a good actor.
"We walked with him so he would stop being aggressive, it was getting late and we kept pressing that we needed to go back home but he wasn't listening. We...well Adrien, got jumped by some kind of monster! The monster started to attack him so I grabbed my pocket knife and launched it at the creature." Chris said gesturing towards his empty pocket. "It hit the creature but instead of running at us it started attacking him more... we didn't know what to do so we all ran out of the woods in fear that we would also get attacked." Chris looked at the ground to hide his small smirk.
Daniel was silent for a minute as he turned and looked out the window like in some kind of movie.
There were a couple reasons why he could tell he was lying.
1. He could just tell, it was 3 against 1 there was no way three boys got bullied into doing something dangerous by one.
And 2. He had talked to Adrien before, he doesn't know him on a personal level but he knows that Adrien's definitely not the type of person to do that.
Even though he can tell they're lying, he can't tell about how much. The attacking and monster bit at least. He can tell the boys wouldn't purposefully kill him... not like a murder anyways. He wasn't denying that there was a monster, he was just worried that it might be to late.
"Hm.." He thought out loud.
"I've seen you kids before...you're not the kind to let people boss you around. Why did you let him?" Daniel pried.
"Oh- Uhm... he's kinda intimidating...have you seen him angry?" Chris chuckled nervously, a single drop of sweat rolling down his face.
Daniel didn't answer the question. Because he didn't want to, but also because he was cut off by someone walking quickly into the room.
The man wore silver armor with gold detailing, on the front of his chest armor there was a little bit of purple detailing along with the gold, seemingly in the shape of a butterfly. He also had a sword sheathed at his hip. His hair was light brown and he had pretty brown eyes that looked good in contrast with his light skin.
"I apologize for my intrusion! I'm here on behalf of the king." He stated with a puffed out chest. "You have been summoned to the palace."
