Paul drove immediately to the hospital before heading over to the police station. Maybe the doctor came in on his day off to check in on something.

Once he got there, Paul asked the receptionist if Dr. Webber was in. She said it was his day off.

"I was told that, ma'am. I'd like to speak with him about something."

"What do you want to speak with Dr. Webber about?"

"A patient who was taken in not long ago. Just want to talk with him."

"Maybe I can leave a message for him?"

"Yes. Tell him Paul Drake stopped by wanting to ask questions."

"I will. Is there any phone number you want to be contacted?" she asked.

He wrote down the information.

"Thank you. Tell me your name again."

"Paul Drake."

She wrote that down as well.

"Thank you."

"When is his next day here?"

"Tomorrow, but I will give him the message from you."

"Have him call immediately when he gets this message."

"Is it something important?"

"Yes."

"Have a good day, Mr. Drake."

"Same with you."

Paul didn't have any hope for Dr. Webber, but since he was out for the day, there was no other way Paul could contact him at home.

Then Perry and Hamilton went in his car for the ride to the police station.

"Let's see what we can get out of with the Johnsons," Perry said.

"That's why we're here. Follow me."

Tragg was at the front desk while the secretary was out to lunch.

"I see you're back, Perry."

"Yes, sir. We need to talk with the Johnsons about something."

"You can stay for a while, then you can get out of here. That child is driving me crazy with all of the crying since the minute they were taken in when the accident happened. I think I'm getting a headache because of the child."

"That's why we're here," Perry said.

"If they didn't have a child, this wouldn't have happened. I'm glad I'm not a father."

"My parents didn't have any issues with me," Hamilton said.

"Or mine," Perry agreed.

Hamilton followed Perry since he was here earlier and knew the way. When they got to the Johnsons' cell, the child indeed was crying.

"It's going to be okay," Claire kept telling their child.

"This is my lawyer, Hamilton Burger. We want to speak with you about something, Mr. and Mrs. Johnson."

"What is it?" Thomas asked.

"My car."

"Was it badly damaged?" Claire asked.

"Not at all very much. I haven't seen it since I was taken in the hospital the other day, but my private investigator saw it and said it didn't look too bad."

"What do you have to say about the car?" Claire asked.

"We go to court in a couple days from now, but I'd like to get this thing about my car without doing it in court with so many people who will be watching and listening to us."

"I understand," Thomas said.

"Tell us what we have to do, Mr. Mason."

"My car isn't the only thing we have to talk about, Mr. and Mrs. Johnson."

"What's the other thing, Mr. Mason?"

"Your child and the courtroom," Burger answered.

Now they were getting the idea about court.

"What time do we need to be at court?" Thomas asked.

"Nine o'clock," Burger answered.

"Tell us about the car."

"Well, I thought when you are ready to get home from your vacation time, you will have to pay for it in order for hitting me. Is that a deal?"

Both the Johnsons nodded.

"What about our child do you want to talk about?" Thomas asked.

"We don't want a child in the courtroom crying when the people and judge are trying to talk," Burger answered.

"We were sorry to hear you couldn't be our lawyer on this case, Mr. Mason. It makes sense now that you have him with you."

"Yes, it does. Were you able to get a lawyer?"

"Yes. We see him tomorrow at ten," Claire answered.

"Good to hear you found somebody. We agreed this would be on vacation time you guys would never forget."

"Yes. It would be something worth sharing for sure," Thomas agreed.

"What do you want us to do with our child?" Claire asked again.

"Do you know anybody out here that brought you here on vacation time?" Burger asked.

"Just a friend of mine," Thomas answered.

"Do you think that friend could look after the child?" Perry asked.

"We can try later and see since my friend's wife likes working with children, but I'm sure they will take our child away from us during the court session."

"Good."

While at the office, Della wondered if Perry, Paul or Hamilton had any luck with questions. She wished she could've gone with them, but it made sense for her to stay and take care of calls from clients.

While waiting, Della made herself a cup of coffee. It was past lunchtime, so she only made the choice with coffee, which wasn't much. Della wished she could have bought a sandwich with her.

She did wonder if Hamilton and Perry got somewhere with the Johnsons about his car, but she was able to hear about it.

"Everybody's having all the fun and I have to miss out by staying here. I have to do what Perry tells me," Della said to herself.

Paul walked into the office.

"Hi, Della."

"Hi, Paul. Did you have any luck with the doctor?" Della asked.

"No, I didn't. I was told from the receptionist he had today off, but would give my message to call me. That way I can tell him about the court date."

"Good idea. Have you heard from Perry or Hamilton?"

"No, I haven't. I wonder if they got something out of the Johnsons."

"We'll have to find out."

The phone didn't budge the whole time Paul was at the office hanging out with Della.

Both Hamilton and Perry saw they didn't have any more questions for the Johnsons, so now was the perfect time to leave the police station.

It was a good thing they were able to come up with an amount of money for the Johnsons to pay for Perry's car when this whole thing is over.

"I'm not resting anytime soon, Hamilton. I know they want me to, but I just can't stay home and not get any action from this case."

"I understand, Perry. When this is finished, you can get the car back."

"That was the plan. I'm happy that Paul and Della were able to reach out."

"Me too," Perry agreed, and then added, "I wonder if Paul got something out from that doctor who took care of me. I didn't pay much attention to what his name was, but now I know, I can call him by his name."

"Yes, we can. Your investigator is smart."

"Yes, he is. I don't know where I will be today if this didn't happen with the Johnsons from their vacation time."

"You never know, Perry. Probably the car without getting hit and somebody driving over the speed limit."

"Probably."

"It looks that way to me."
