Chapter 22: 4th Bout with Infinite
Sky Warrior
"Where are Sonic and Shadow?" Silver asked.
"Damn, he somehow jammed the Warp Ring! I can't reopen it!" Knuckles complained.
"What's going on?" Amy asked.
"Infinite's back!" Silver answered.
"What?"
"And he cut off the Warp Ring before Sonic and Shadow could come back." Knuckles added.
"We've got to help them! Tails, do something!" Amy panicked.
Tails ran into the cockpit.
"What are you doing?" Cream asked.
"I'm trying to find out where Sonic's coordinates are so we can go help him and Shadow!" Tails answered.
Frog Forest
"You two are who I'm after the most! Once I'm rid of you both, I'll finish off your friends, starting with that pink girl."
"You won't lay a finger on her!" Sonic and Shadow yelled together as they charged at Infinite.
"Then try and stop me then!" Infinite roared back, preparing to attack as he glowed.
Sonic and Shadow dashed toward the jackal, but couldn't lay a hit.
"What the hell is this?" Shadow yelled.
"It's not the Phantom Ruby, but it feels like it though." Sonic replied before the two were thrown into trees. "Shadow, we gotta use teamwork to beat him."
"Don't sound cheesy, Faker." Shadow rolled his eyes.
"That won't work this time." Infinite said.
"We'll see!" Sonic yelled back as he and Shadow charged at Infinite and he did so as well, the three going at it hand-to-hand combat style.
It was a stalemate for quite a while until Infinite used his powers to subdue the hedgehog duo.
"Ngh, I didn't want it to come to this, but we have no more options." Shadow began to take off his inhibitor rings. He handed them to Sonic.
"Good luck, Shadow." Sonic told him.
"Chaos Blast!" Shadow shouted as he unleashed his attack on Infinite, who tried to block the attack, but couldn't, got hit, leaving him dazed and confused.
Sonic jumped out of the nearby bush and boosted on it the jackal, sending him flying away in the sky.
Shadow was out of energy and fell over, but Sonic caught him before he hit the ground.
"I got you, Shads. Let's find the Sky Warrior." Sonic told him as he put on Shadow's rings and took off in pursuit of the ship.
