Title: Pain, Suffering, Healing

Rating: M

Pairing: Naruto X Anko/Shizune/F Gaara/F Kurama, Lee X Tenten, Tsunade X Jiraiya, Shikamaru X Temari,

Summary: People could go through periods of pain, people endured times of suffering, but after all of that came the healing. Uzumaki Naruto has suffered through pain his entire 17 years of life. Now three beauties will do their best to heal his soul, mind, and heart.

So I made the choice to create these chapters called Interludes. These chapters are more or less background information that has Nothing to do with the original story. I just thought that I would add them to the mix to help kinda set the stage for the next round so to speak. Each Interlude will have one piece of background information that will lead into the next part.

Review Response

Biginferno: Thank you. Maybe one day I'll visit a Naruto X Samui story, but for now, this is just one of the fun stories I'm doing.

Yami Luna Kitsune: Feed the Kitsune more

TwinstarDragon: Won't say what I have planned for Kushina, but I will admit that I was NOT a fan of how easily Naruto forgave Minato especially after looking at the past and relziing Minato could have lived, but he wanted to go out a Hero

Fafnir the golden monarch: Oh I agree.

Spark681: Glad you enjoyed it.

Cobalt027: Achievement reached Guilt-tripping dad after what he did. Yes Naruto and Yasaka will have their moment, but that's a ways off.

HyperA2019: Here is the chapter four

Ryu wolf: Not sure about that. As much as I love the Red Death Sword Kushina, I don't know if i'm going to go that route. Maybe... IDK. I'll just let these hands of mine carry me.

Krieger techpreist: The style I'm using for this story is a little different from my normal style I'll admit. The best way I can describe the style I'm using is the parts converge on healing as the parts make up the whole of the entire chapter. The Original story was only 5 chapters long and I remember where it ended, but from the chapter 5, i'll have to go and do what I have to do to.

Dbtiger63: I know what you mean. Honestly in Naruto proper I don't think Naruto was really loyal to the village. I think he was Loyal to people. At least until The Pein attack. Mostly he was Loyal to Sarutobi and I think that shows in the Land of Waves Mission, where his loyalty was tested when he learned his new friend killed his Teammate. Not even a best friend at that point just a Teammate that he didn't see eye to eye with.

Majestic Yo-kai Fauntleroy: Never read to much of the Naruto Manga. I did buy the Vols when they originally came out up until the Chunin Exams. But yeah the way they Wrote Minato in the story was fundamentally flawed.

Interlude 1

Location: Konoha

Place: Naruto's Apartment

Time: 2320

It was his second to last night in Konoha. Uzumaki Naruto was both worried and excited to leave the village to get stronger. He looked down at the backpack that contained a few scrolls, his entire savings -15000 ryu in cash-, some clothes, and his personal journal. Aside from some Raman cups and the photos of him with Konoha, Moegi, and Udon, Team 7, and the photo with Old Man Hokage... Naruto didn't own anything. If he thought about it too long he would lose his mind. Naruto didn't know much about the person who raised him. He knew it was a woman with silver hair and he use to call her Kagu-nee. She hadn't been around in years.

Uzumaki Naruto went to his bed and sat down. It would be the last time he probably slept here. Three months ago his new Sensei... No Sensei was disrespectful, his Master Jiraya the Toad Sage convinced Tsunade to allow him to take Naruto out of the village. Not just for his safety as an Organization consisting of multiple S-ranked Rouge Shinobi, but also to train Naruto. Aside from signing the Toad Contract, the Shadow Clone, Rasengan, few academy Jutsu, his self-made Taijutsu attacks and the Earth Release: Head Hunter Jutsu, Naruto's arsenal was limited. Sure, his stealth skills were at least Jonin. But few missions in the Modern Shinobi era required that Skill set. it didn't fulfill his desire for a good fight. Naruto already knew that he was going to specialize in combat and would probably go into the Assault Division or the Rapid Response Teams, But he wouldn't get to join one of those teams until he reached Chunin. (1)

A knock sounded on his door rousing him from his funk, plastering on a smile he opened the door and saw that it was his teammate Haruno Sakura. Compared to how she was in the start of their careers she had changed. While she still dieted it was healthier than before. This allowed her to put on the necessary weight and fat a young woman of her age required. Her arms had taken on a bit of tone and her once flat- DON'T SAY IT OUT LOUD- chest had grown ever so slightly. He still couldn't get over how short her hair was. It looked nice on her as opposed to the long hair she used to have.

Sakura smiled at Naruto, her hand behind her back and she was rocking on the balls of her feet. "Hey, Naruto. Mind if I come in?" asked Sakura.

"umm Sure Sakura-chan. I honestly didn't expect any visitors this late," said Naruto as he allowed Sakura inside.

It wasn't that Konoha was a necessarily dangerous place. However, the part of the Village that Naruto lived in wasn't the safest place at night.

Sakura looked around Naruto's apartment. It was cleaner than she expected and Naruto seemed to live a pretty spartan lifestyle. She noticed that he had a work bench next to a desk that had books, scrolls and the like scattered on it. Sakura picked up one of the scrolls and saw that it was a scroll on politics, another was a scroll on common tactics used by enemy shinobi of another nation. Sakura looked at Naruto. She knew that her teammate was brash, but she never realized that he was always trying to improve himself in ways other than just combat.

The pinkette smiled to herself. "Well, he did say that he was going to be the Hokage one day. It's only natural that he works on himself,"

"So Sakura what are you doing here?" asked Naruto.

"I... I wanted to speak with you before you left. I know that you won't be back for the next 3 years, but I hope. I hoped to give you a proper goodbye.

"A proper goodbye?" asked Naruto.

Sakura reached up and slipped off her clothes and walked over to Naruto.

"Naruto blushed and looked at his crush's body. "Sakura-chan what are you doing!?" asked Naruto.

Sakura put a hand on Naruto's face and leaned in for a kiss. Naruto's lips pressed to Sakura's in a tender kiss that was just crashing her lips into his. It wasn't the explosion of emotion or the joyful union of two souls who were destined to be together. It was... lacking. But he was a teenage boy with a number of hormones running through his body. Otherwise, he felt nothing in this moment.

No love, no passion, no need for them to speak. As Sakura dragged him to the bed.

Location: Konoha

Place: North Konoha Gate

Time: 0800

Naruto and Jiraiya stood on one side of the gate facing Tsunade, Shizune, Iruka, Kakashi, Konohamaru, Moegi, Udon, and Sakura.

Naruto walked up to the Konoha corps who were all crying. Naruto pat his hand on their heads.

"Boss we're going to miss you," said Konohamaru.

"Come back soon and be our Sensei," cried Udon.

"We love you, big bro! Make sure you stay safe out there," cried Moegi rubbing her tears away.

"Don't worry about me you guys. When I come back I'll teach you guys how to be awesome shinobi," said Naruto.

Shizune walked up and bent down just enough and hugged Naruto, before kissing his cheek. This made the blond-haired young man blush. Shizune might have had a 'girl next door' appearance, but to Naruto she was still a beautiful woman. Perhaps it also had something to do with the fact that Naruto, Shizune, and Tsunade had bathed together when they were on their way back to Konoha. Naruto had also gotten Shizune to act like a child. It may have been for only a little while, but it mattered.

"Came back to us in one piece Naruto-kun. We need our future Hokage to be ready to take the seat," said Shizune.

Naruto smiled. "Don't worry Shizune-nee-chan. When I return I'll become the Hokage and you can be my assistant,"

Shizune not being able to help her smile. "Oh? I'm guessing that you have your reason Na-ru-to-kun," said the brunette.

Naruto blushed and looked away as the others laughed with only Moegi and Sakura not taking the bait.

Kakashi walked up to Naruto and pulled out a scroll. Naruto took the scroll from Kakashi.

"I'm not going to lie and say I was the greatest sensei in the world. In fact, I was a horrible Sensei. Aside from the Head Hunter Jutsu I've neglected your training," said Kakashi with an eye smile.

"Kakashi-sensei it wasn't that-," started Naruto.

"Please Naruto don't spare my feeling. I've been a shinobi for the better part of 20 years and I;ve done things I'm not proud of. Allowing you and Sakura to fall by the wayside is my greatest mistake to date. Not even the mistakes I made with my own teammates was this grave as I've unintentionally sabotaged you two. The scroll contains a few jutsu that I pulled from the library inside my head. I've also put in a short sword. I know that swordsmanship isn't your strong suit, but it may just save your life one day,"

Naruto bowed to Kakashi. "Thank you, Kakashi-sensei. I promise that I'll train hard to not disappoint you," said Naruto.

Kakashi smiled. "Naruto even if I ever become disappointed in you for something I want you to remember that the person that you can't disappoint ever is the person that stares back at you in the mirror. Train well Naruto," said Kakashi.

Iruka walked forward next in his hand was a box. "Ever since you earned that headband. You've lived up to everything that it means to be a Shinobi of Konoha. But... I've always regretted giving it to you," said Iruka.

Everyone looked at Iruka in wonder and shock at his words. Tsunade balled up her fist but held her tongue. Jiraiya looked on having an idea of where this was going. The Konohamaru corps were yelling at Iruka for disrespecting 'The Boss' but no one was paying them any mind.

"I've regretted giving it to you since it was the headband I wore for the better part of 10 years. Since I became a Shinobi. It was bang up dented and not becoming of a Shinobi of your caliber Naruto. So I want to make up for that mistake here and now. Hand me that headband," said Iruka.

Naruto unwrapped the headband and looked at it. Sure, it wasn't shiny and new like the ones the others got upon graduation. But he received it from Iruka, his teacher and the first person to acknowledged him. Naruto gripped the headband tightly and handed it over to Iruka. Iruka put the headband away and opened the box. In it was a brand-new headband. But instead of the normal blue cloth was a black cloth that was longer than normal. The plate shined as if it was factory fresh.

"Uzumaki Naruto... exactly one year ago, you failed the Graduation Exam of the Konoha Shinobi Academy. However, you upheld your duties as a citizen of Konoha and helped apprehend one of our own Shinobi who planned on going rouge. Under the laws of Konoha any academy student that preforms and completes a B-ranked mission or above or acts in the interests of the village will be promoted to full shinobi or kunoichi status with the rank of Genin. Congratulations Genin Uzumaki Naruto," said Iruka taking the black headband out the box and wrapping it around Naruto's head.

Naruto smiled. "Thank you, Iruka-sensei. I'll make sure to do this headband proud," said Naruto.

Iruka nodded and stepped back.

Tsunade stepped forward and pulled out a scroll. "There's so much I want to say to you brat. So much, but there isn't any time to say it. When you return to the village you and me are going to talk, drink, and fight because of everything I have to tell you, but I have other things that are important to say. Genin Uzumaki. In light of everything you've done. Defeating Gaara of the Sand, Saving Daymio Kazahara Koyuki and retrieving The Fifth Hokage of Konoha. I Senju Tsunade, Fifth Hokage of Konoha and Current head of the Founding Senju Clan hereby grant Uzumaki Naruto the rank of Chunin," said Tsunade.

Naruto took the scroll and smiled at before he summoned the vest that was inside. It looked different from the other vests. It had seen some use, but it was well maintained, and it looked like it had recently been repaired and some updates to it.

"This vest. Belonged to the first man I ever truly loved. Shizune's uncle Koto Dan. He... he wanted to be Hokage as well. One of the few people who had the skills and power to one day be Hokage. Naruto. If Dan and I had ever had a child... I'm sure that he would have been just like you. So... from now on can you not call me Baa-chan," started Tsunade as she blushed a little and looked away. "Instead... call me Kaa-chan,"

Naruto smiled at Tsuande before he hugged her around the waist. "I may never get to know who my real mother is, but... I'd like to think that she was like you. Kind and warm Tsunade- kaa-chan," said Naruto.

While he back was turned to others and only Jiraiya able to see Tsunade had a conflicted look upon her face. Tears streamed down her face as she wrapped her arms around Naruto's shoulders. Even though Tsunade and Jiraiya were married both knew that he would never replace Dan in her heart. It was one of the reasons they never had a child together. Maybe... maybe Naruto should have been that child. So many ifs, but the time for regrets of their choices had long passed.

"Alright Brat... there's one more person who needs to talk to you before you go," said Tsunade pulling away from Naruto.

Tsunade walked up to Sakura and placed a hand on her shoulder. "Please don't make the mistakes I made Sakura," said Tsunade.

Sakura walked up to Naruto as he looked at the vest in his hands. Sakura sighed. "Jeez Naruto... how about putting it on instead of just holding it huh?" asked Sakura.

Naruto nodded to his childhood crush and removed his orange shirt and put on the vest. Sure, it was a little big, but he could adjust it later. He handed over his jacket to Sakura who smiled.

"It looks good on you," said Sakura.

"Thanks, Sakura-chan," said Naruto.

Sakura hugged Naruto. "I promise that i'll get stronger so we can bring Sasuke-kun back and be Team 7 like we should have been. That is my promise to you," said Sakura.

"And I promise that I'll be strong enough to protect you and Sasuke in the future and Our Generation of Team 7 will go down as the strongest Generation," said Naruto with a smile.

Jiraya and Tsuande laughed. "You got a long way to go to achieve that brat. Remember Tsunade-chan, Orochimaru-baka, and I are the Original Team 7 and we were known as the Sannin for a reason.

"If that's the case Jiraya-sama than wouldn't Anko-san, Shziune-san, and The Fourth Hokage be the second Generation of Sannin?" asked Kakashi reading his book.

Jiraya and Tsuande looked at each other before they burst out laughing. Shizune looked at her master and pouted.

All in all. It was better to leave on laughter than tears. Naruto smiled at his friends and his new family before he and his master took off on their five-year- originally three- training journey.

And cut. So did anyone spot the plot of pt 2? I honestly think that it's actually a really simple find. Any who I hope to see you all in the next chapter.
