Bridge Field and The Digging Duo
Once the group arrives back at Motostoke, they head for the bridge that Hop pointed out earlier.
"So, what do you all think the Pokemon on the way to Motostoke are going to be like?" asked Lincoln.
"Well, Hop did say they were very strong." said Ronnie Anne.
"Maybe we can train up our Pokemon some more for our upcoming gym battles." suggested Luna.
"Maybe we can catch some more for our teams." said Lana.
"We should definitely try training up the Pokemon we got that would have an advantage against ghost type Pokemon." said Lincoln.
"What kind of Pokemon would be good against ghost types?" asked Lola.
"Ghost type moves are effective against ghost types; but if you want an advantage both in offense and defense, go with dark types; and normal types are completely immune to ghost type moves." said Lincoln.
"Maybe I'll get my Liepard from storage and train her up for a bit." said Clyde.
"I'll focus on Zoroark for now." said Lincoln.
"I'll get my Linoone from storage and train her up; I also got Sharpedo also." said Luna. "I can also train up my Loudred; he's a normal type and he has a dark type move."
"Maybe I can find a cute dark type for my team." said Lola.
"I can get my Sneasel from storage and train him up for a bit." said Ronnie Anne.
"I can train up my Gourgeist." said Sam.
"And I have plenty of ghost types on my team." said Lucy from behind Sam, scaring her.
"My Herdier is a normal type that has a dark type move." said Lana.
"Let's just focus on getting to Hammerlocke for now and train up the Pokemon we planned on." said Lincoln.
"Good call." said Clyde. The group does some Pokemon swapping, with Clyde exchanging his Quagsire for his Liepard, Ronnie Anne swapping her Sneasel for her Eevee, and Luna swapping her Eevee for her Linoone.
The group makes their way through an area called Bridge Field. As they do, they train up the Pokemon they planned on.
Lincoln's Zoroark learned Agility and Imprison.
Clyde's Liepard learned Nasty Plot.
Ronnie Anne's Sneasel learned Icy Wind and Fury Swipes.
Lucy's Duskull learned Curse, her Gengar learned Sucker Punch, her Noibat learned Super Fang, and her Dartrix learned Sucker Punch and Leaf Blade.
Leni's Gardevoir learned Psychic, her Tsareena learned Teeter Dance, her Vulpix learned Imprison, her Lopunny learned Agility, her Dedenne learned Rest, and her Goldeen learned Waterfall. Also, during Goldeen's training, she groze up and started to glow.
"O-M-Gosh, my Goldeen's evolving!" said Leni. Everyone gathered around as they watch Goldeen start to change; when she was done, she was bigger, most of her body was a reddish-orange with black stripes, the horn on her head was bigger, and she had two fangs sticking out from her lower jaw. Leni takes out her Rotom Phone and points it at her newly evolved Goldeen.
"Seaking, the Goldfish Pokemon, and the evolved form of Goldeen. Using its horn, it bores holes in riverbed boulders, making nests to prevent its eggs from washing away." said Leni's Rotom Phone.
"She doesn't look as elegant as she did when she was Goldeen." said Lola.
"Well, that doesn't mean I love her any less." said Leni.
Lana's Salazzle learned Venoshock, her Palpitoad learned Aqua Ring, her Sandaconda got stronger, her Trubbish learned Belch, her Eevee learned Baton Pass, and her Herdier learned Helping Hand. Her Palpitoad,Trubbish, and Herdier all began to glow.
"Hey, a lot of my Pokemon are evolving!" exclaimed Lana. Everyone watched as Lana's Pokemon began to change; when they stopped glowing, Palpitoad was bigger, he had arms and short legs, a light blue underbelly with light blue and black bumps all over his body. Silicobra was bigger and coiled up; Herdier was bigger and was covered in dark gray fur with long whiskers hanging from his snout; and Trubbish was now bigger, had arms, and resembled a ripped garbage bag with garbage coming out of him. "Cool!" She points her Rotom Phone at her newly evolved Palpitoad.
"Seismitoad, the Vibration Pokemon and the final evolved form of Tympole. This Pokémon is popular among the elderly, who say the vibrations of its lumps are great for massages." said Lana's Rotom Phone.
"And this says my Seismitoad learned Drain Punch." said Lana. She then points her Rotom Phone at her newly evovled Herdier.
"Stoutland, the Big-Hearted Pokemon, and the final evolved form of Lillipup. Stoutland is immensely proud of its impressive moustache. It's said that moustache length is what determines social standing among this species." said Lana's Rotom Phone. She finally points her Rotom Phone at her newly evolved Trubbish.
"Garbodor, the Trash Heap Pokemon, and the evolved form of Trubbish. The toxic liquid it launches from its right arm is so virulent that it can kill a weakened creature instantly." said Lana's Rotom Phone.
"Cool!" said Lana as she runs to Garbodor and hugs him, getting some of his trash on her.
"Gross!" said Lola.
Luna's Gigalith learned Rock Blast, her Toxtricity learned Toxic and Discharge, her Loudred learned Roar and Supersonic, her Poliwhirl learned Body Slam, her Sharpedo learned Crunch, and her Linoone learned Scary Face.
Lola's Cinccino got stronger, her Alolan Vulpix learned Ice Beam, her Primarina got stronger, her Sylveon learned Draining Kiss and Misty Terrain, her Staryu learned Light Screen, and her Azumarill learned Rain Dance.
Sam's Meowstic learned Light Screen and Reflect, her Toxtricity learned Toxic and Discharge just like Luna's, her Gastrodon got stronger, her Gourigeist got stronger, her Stunfisk learned Bounce, and her Vulpix learned Flamethrower and Imprison.
After they trained their Pokemon, the group continue on their way north towards Hammerlocke. Along the way, they notice two men wearing mining uniforms standing along a canyon pass leading up to a house that looked like the nursery that Sam got Toxel at.
"Excuse me." said one of the men.
"You talking to us?" asked Ronnie Anne.
"Yes, we want to talk to you kids about something." said the other man. Not wanting to seem rude, the group walks over to the two men.
"What do you want?" asked Lola.
"We're the Digging Duo!" proclaimed one of the men.
"In exchange for Watts, we can dig up rare and valuable objects for you." said the other man.
"Valuable?" replied Lola with interest in her voice.
"Yes, and all we require is 500 watts." said one of the men.
"Do any of us have enough?" asked Lola.
"I think I have that many." said Lincoln. He takes out his Rotom Phone and transfers some watts to the two men.
"Thank you." said one of the men. With that, the two men started to dig ferociously. Several minutes later, they finish and present the items they found. They uncovered a Fire Stone, a light blue stone that had a snowflake in it, a turquoise-colored stone, a Star Piece, and a Rare Bone.
"Whoa; look at all this stuff." said Clyde.
"I recognize some of that stuff; but what is that turquoise stone and that light blue one with the snowflake in it?" asked Lincoln.
"The turquoise stone is a Dawn Stone." said one of the Digging Duo men. "It can be used to evolve a female Snorunt, or a male Kirlia."
"I have a male Kirlia." said Clyde. He grabs the Dawn Stone and puts it aside for now.
"And that other stone is an Ice Stone; it can be used to evolve an Eevee into a Glaceon, an Alolan Sandshrew into Alolan Sandslash, and an Alolan Vulpix into an Alolan Ninetales." said the other Digging Duo man.
"These men are good diggers; I wonder if they do burial plots?" asked Lucy. Lana runs to the Digging Duo.
"Hey, I think I have enough watts." said Lana. She takes out her Rotom Phone and transfers watts to the Digging Duo. After that, the Digging Duo began digging; minutes later, they took a rest. They dug up a green stone that had a lightning bolt in it, some sort of metal ball, a bag of Stardust, and what appeared to be the fossilized remains of a fish.
"What are those things aside from the Stardust?" asked Luna.
"The green stone is a Thunder Stone; it can be used to evolve Magneton to a Magnezone; an Eevee into a Jolteon, and a Pikachu into a Raichu." said a Digging Duo man.
"Maybe I can use that on my Eevee." said Lana.
"The metal ball is an Iron Ball; it decreases the speed of the Pokemon holding it." said one of the Digging Duo men.
"Why would we need that?" asked Lola.
"Well, you could sell it at a PokeMart for ten-thousand pokedollars." said the other Digging Duo man.
"Oh, that's okay, then." said Lola.
"And is that a fossil?" asked Clyde.
"Yes, it's a Fossilized Fish." said a Digging Duo man. "I heard there's a scientist near Stow-on-Side that has a machine that can revive fossils."
"Wow!" said Lincoln.
"Resurrecting the dead?" replied Lucy with interest.
"Lisa would really be interested in that." said Luna.
"I think that's enough for now." said Lincoln. "But we might come back to you guys when we pick up more watts."
"Okay, then." said a Digging Duo man. After the group parted from the Digging Duo, Lana takes out Eevee's pokeball and releases him from it; she holds out the Thunder Stone towards him.
"You want to evolve, Eevee?" asked Lana.
"You bet!" replied Eevee, happily. Smiling, Lana touches Eevee with the Thunder Stone and he starts glowing and the Thunder Stone vanishes. Eevee began to grow; when the glowing stopped, Eevee was bigger and had yellow spiky fur with a white spiky mane around his neck. Lana takes out her Rotom Phone and points it at her newly evolved Eevee.
"Jolteon, the Lightning Pokemon and the evolved form of Eevee. It accumulates negative ions in the atmosphere to blast out 10,000-volt lightning bolts." said Lana's Rotom Phone.
"This also says when he evolved, he learned Thunder Shock and he now has the Volt Absorb ability; that makes it that electric type moves that hits him heals him instead of hurting him." said Lana.
"Congratulations, Lana." said Lincoln. Clyde lets out his Kirlia and touches it with the Dawn Stone, making him start glowing and change before his eyes; when he finished, he was taller, his arms and legs were longer with his arms having blade-like elbows, and he had a teal crest on his head.
"Whoa, he looks so cool!" said Clyde as he takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Gallade, the Blade Pokemon, and the final evolved form of a male Kirlia. Sharply attuned to others' wishes for help, this Pokémon seeks out those in need and aids them in battle." said the Rotom Phone.
"That is awesome!" said Clyde. "And this says he now knows Slash after evolving."
"Can I use the Ice Stone on my Alolan Vulpix?" asked Lola.
"But I want to use it on my Eevee." said Leni.
"I want to use it on my Alolan Sandshrew." said Lincoln. "But since Lola asked first, she gets to use it."
"Okay." said Leni with disappointment.
"We can come back to that Digging Duo later when we get more watts and see if they can dig up more Ice Stones." said Lincoln.
"Okay, Linky." said Leni. Lola lets out her Alolan Vulpix and touches her with the Ice Stone, making her glow and change; when she finished, she looked like a regular Ninetales, but she was light blue, and her hair and tails were more wavy.
"She's beautiful." said Lola. She takes out her Rotom Phone and points it at her newly evolved Alolan Vulpix.
"Alolan Ninetales, the Fox Pokemon, and the evolved form of an Alolan Vulpix. While it will guide travelers who get lost on a snowy mountain down to the mountain's base, it won't forgive anyone who harms nature." said Lola's Rotom Phone.
"And this says she's part fairy now, and she knows Dazzling Gleam now." said Lola.
"That is awesome." said Sam.
"We're definitely gonna look for more watts for those guys." said Luna.
"Let's keep going." said Lincoln. "Maybe we'll find more active Pokemon Dens on the way."
"Good idea." said Ronnie Anne. The group return their Pokemon to their pokeballs and continue on their way to Hammerlocke.
