Shattered Innocence Ch. 19
After living in the Hotel for a few days, the young seraphim had really adjusted herself to those around her.
Emily comes down to the kitchen for breakfast. "Oh, that smells good."
"It better!" Angel Dust, wearing an apron that says F(Bleep) the Chef, smirks as he flips one of several pancakes at once. "I'm the one making it."
"Can I have some?" the young seraphim asked as her large eye opens even though droopily.
"Of course, sister. But I ain't adding pickles this time!"
"That happened only once," she takes a seat near Charlie and Vaggie.
The Princess nudges her. "Nice to see you two getting long."
"Yeah, well. It's still not easy but it helps."
"What helps?"
While Angel was setting the plates in front of the three he tells them. "She knows that I only suck c(bleep)s and that I only let those with c(bleep)s such my c(bleep)!"
Emily becomes flustered. "Oh, my! I know that this is Hell, but I never thought I would hear that word used so many times in a single sentence."
"Ya better get used to it, sister," he takes a seat away from her. "Not sure what kind of religious cult you were part of to end up down here but there is a lot of stuff it sheltered you from."
Charlie looks up in thought. "I'm actually curious about that," and turns to the disguised Angel. "From what I've seen you are the picture of what a good soul should be. Not many Sinners say grace over their meals, aside from the nutjobs that use religion as an excuse to do bad things anyway. But you're also polite, refuse to cuss. I mean? If I didn't know any better, I'd say you're an angel in disguised," she lets out a chuckle as does Angel Dust. Vaggie just gives an awkward laugh while Emily shares a broken smile.
The young Seraphim then feels someone gripping her chair and she freezes. Glancing up, the New Carmine finds that sinister smile of the Radio Demon and her chest eye widens while hoping out of her seat.
"What a funny thing to say," Alastor then spins the seat around so he can sit in it himself. "She does appear quite Heavenly though," his eye lingers on Emily to gage her reaction.
"Wow!" Angel Dust raised a brow. "Never knew she'd be you're type, Smiles."
"Seriously, Al," Charlie walks over to a shivering Emily. "Enough with flirting. It's creeping her out. It's creeping everyone out," the next part is then said under her breath. "Even me."
Emily is still terrified not knowing exactly how much this Overlord knows and not knowing how much he doesn't.
"It's, it's alright," the disguised angel tries to wave it off. "I know that it's just part of who Alastor is. You really can't fault him for being himself."
"That there is what I'm talking about!" Charlie points. "You take others into consideration as well. How could someone like you possibly end up in Hell?"
"I don't fully understand myself," Emily looks down. "I was raised to have absolute faith. I hung onto every single word of my… family. I accepted what was good and what wasn't. Everywhere I went was full of so much light," a tear runs down her cheek. "But as soon as I found the one lingering shadow in what I thought was the perfect life, they didn't want anyone else to know, so she thew me out as if I was nothing!" she burst out crying and soon felt a set of arms wrapped around her as Vaggie hugged her.
"How could your own sister do that do you?" the eyepatch woman ponders out loud.
"I don't know. I just don't know."
Charlie then tilts her head. "Vaggie? How did you know it was her sister?"
"Uh…"
The Hotel Manager was saved by her girlfriend's phone going off.
Checking the message, the blonde's eyes widen. "My dad is on his way!?" she starts rushing around to clean the kitchen. Even snatching away the uneaten pancakes from Angel Dust.
"Hey! I wasn't finished."
"Sorry! I gotta make sure everything is perfect!"
"Wait!" Emily speaks up. "Your dad, King Lucifer, is coming here? Today?"
Everyone stops and stares at the young seraphim.
"Emily," Charlie steps up to her and takes her guest's hands. "I know how you feel around men but despite being the literal King of Hell, he's not that bad of a guy. I'm sure that you'd like him if you get to know him," she then smiles softly.
"Maybe…" the disguised angel could only share a broken smile in return as a bead of sweat runs down her head. "I, uh, I'm actually not feeling well. I-I think I'll head up to my room for the day," she then starts running out of the kitchen.
"Emily, wait—" the Hotel Owner reaches out but is stopped as her other hand is grabbed by her girlfriend. Turning around, Vaggie shakes her head and Charlie lets out a sigh in defeat.
.oOo.
As soon as Emily got to her room, she locked the door and then went to sit on the bed.
She has seen King Lucifer many times during meetings with Sera. He knows her face. If he sees her then everyone will know. How will they treat her then. From experience, Emily knows that not all demons will take kindly to the sight of an angel.
Emily lets out a sigh as her wings sprout and one folds over so she can caress it. At first, she flinched with every touch as it brings back memories. But the young seraphim soon calmed down.
The disguised angel had no idea how long she was sitting in her room before she was brought out of the trance as something bursts through the wall and she lets out a shriek.
After a few moments, she peaks out the hole in her wall to see some demon sharks attacking the Hotel. Emily then ducks as she spots Alastor stepping out of the building but much taller and much, much scarier. There were sounds of blood curdling screams before it quieted down.
Still unsure what to do, Emily just sat there for awhile before deciding to check downstairs. To at least see if everyone is doing okay.
Once she was at the top of the staircase, Emily peaks around the corner and is met at the sight of Charlie hugging a shorter blonde man that is recognized as King Lucifer. There was a ping in her heart as she misses having moments like that with the Carmines.
The two break apart and Lucifer tells Charlie. "Okay. I can get you the meeting but once you're in Heaven, I won't be able to go with you. Will you be okay?"
"I'll be fine," with a soft smile Charlie takes his hand to reassure the King.
"That's my, girl," the King of Hell returns the smile as magic starts shimmering around him. "Good luck, Kiddo!" and when he turns to teleport away, his eyes meets Emily's and the magic dissipates. "The Hell are you doing here!?"
Emily quickly backs away in an attempt to escape but soon bumps into something. Looking around, she finds that she is somehow at the bottom of the stairs. Doing a quick one-eighty, the disguised angel is now face to face with Lucifer and her large eye opens to stare up at him.
"Dad!" Charlie steps between them. "This is—"
"I know who she is," Lucifer grabs the young seraphim by the wrist who immediately starts pulling away. "Come on, Emily. Let's get you back home."
"Wait! You're majesty! You don't understand!"
"You're right. I don't understand," he conjures a portal. "Who knows what your sister will do once she finds out you're here."
"Sera doesn't care about me!" Emily screams as she uses all of her strength to pull herself out of the King's grasp and falls to the floor.
There was gasping around her, and the young seraphim looked up to see that everyone had a look of shock. Even Alastor's eyes were widened. The look in Lucifer's and Vaggie's eyes are more out of worry with the eyepatch woman holding a hand over her mouth.
Reaching up, Emily finds the lack of horns from her head and glancing behind, her wings have sprouted.
"Emily," Charlie takes a step towards her. "Y-you're an angel?"
At that, Emily looks away out of shame while pulling her legs up to her chest and simply says. "I'm sorry."
