Yu-Gi-Oh 5Ds: The Judgement of the World

Jesse and Judai were protected by the shields despite Crystal Dragon not going after the pair. However how the dragon was just hosing down everything with its breath weapon... They 'were' dangerously close to the group given how erratic the dragon's breath weapon was being used. While Trueman and Yubel had little reason to care about dragon breath weapons, after all, the dragon wasn't going after them. But it was enraged and corrupted by Yubel's control over Jesse. Yet this was causing the group to be forced into spreading their shield out long and flat, a shape that cost even more energy to support.
Superia soared into the air and joined her power to the shield, the group free to watch when she would modify the direction. Some discreet gazes shifted to Zalinka only for to be reminded that she didn't really do 'good' with staying aware. Not when her Barrier Maiden was out.
Carly's Ladies began manifesting back inside the shield at Carly's side. Yet their focus was off to the side where a massive orb of corrupt white was starting to manifest.
"I suspect that Ryu can't help with both spots," Yusei murmured to Aki who nodded.
"Black Rose, do you recognize that card, spirit?" Aki asked as she waved Asuka down to alert them about the in coming fireball.
"She is younger than us, but she serves God directly," Black Rose Dragon purred out of the shadows as she slithered her way to Aki's side. "But she is with God since the war, how is it that he is calling 'her' down?"
'She's 'with' Yugi?' Aki was taken a back at the idea that someone was serving Yugi and able to manifest... 'No wait, Black Rose is a part of my soul. Its the same as with Zalinka isn't it? This spirit is 'part' of the woman with Yugi.'
"We'll help the little bird." Several spirits, with Queen Dragun Djinn leading the charge, notified the group as they took off flying towards Crow's location. Snapping Aki back to the fact that the shield was blocking 'Crystal Dragon' not literally anyone else... The field wasn't great for her plants yet Ryo and Asuka's spirits began speeding through the air heading towards the black feathers and fire.
"Ladies! Help me get," Carly began as she began to stand up, "Jesse to the hospital. Even if you changed his fate he 'needs' to see a doctor as soon as possible!"
"No! He tried to hurt you and doesn't..." En began when Carly cut her off.
"I didn't raise you to be so cruel! I would never abandon any of you if someone used Mind Control on you and had you turn on me! Its the same exact thing!" She argued, forceful she couldn't do, panic alarm, she could and her tone caused the Ladies to flinch in surprise.
It was Hikari who glided down in front of Carly, her lips slowly sliding up into a smile. "You're absolutely right, you didn't raise us like that. More over the pain that the Gem Beasts feel is one we don't ever want to face so we can empathize with their outrage..."
The Ladies glided over to surround Carly before gathering her up, "we'll take the pair to a hospital in Tokyo." Swee explained before she turned and joined her fellows as they flew off towards Jesse's prone body.
"I'll be ok Jack! My Ladies are good people!" Was the last thing the group could hear from Carly amid the flames of the dragon and the cracking as Ice Barrier's shield would crack then refreeze.
"We need to follow that example..." Momoe called out her voice shaking as she fought down her own terror.
"Well if you have any suggestions for 'that'," Junko asked as she pointed to the massive orb Yubel had manifested above their head.
Only the Ladies had the power to affect its direction and sure the shield was 'up'. But could they shield both the dragon 'AND' the angry duel spirit?
"Where? Where did you take Jesse?" Crystal dragon's fury couldn't be contained as it swept the grounds with its vision. "What have you done with him?!" The dragon began spewing out fireballs instead of the steady stream of fire.
"You need to relax!" Stardust grumbled as he appeared above the serpent shaped dragon and dove down as a silver arrow. "Lets go home and I can explain!"
The dragon's silver looked more pronounced around the stained black of the Crystal Dragon before the pair disappeared. Gone in a burst of flames as Stardust forced Crystal's muzzled face against him. Thus forcing 'Sanctuary' to activate.
"Where are the other Gem Beasts?" Fubuki asked as he scanned the skies where at one point he could see the various colors of the beasts approaching. Yet with Jesse gone, they had blinked out of existence. Even more strange was that they didn't just manifest, like why not and join the fight? Why hang back?
"I don't know if I want to be hopeful that they followed Carly and won't be a threat at the hospital, or terrified that they 'will' be a threat at the hospital..." Kazu admitted before he lowered his head as the strain on his neck got bad. That was what he told himself, the reality of staring at that terrifying black thing in the sky was more the reason. Between 'it' and that massive white orb that was bleeding the color out of everything was another matter. It was growing in spurts and turning massive as its corrupted white light just bleached out the sky blue shield that Ancient Fairy was generating.
Science had taught him about how light was reflected through various things and through so much ice it 'should' have been broken into visible rainbow colors. Yet perhaps it was a sign of its corruption for the white light never altered its color as it glared into the shield. So everything was becoming this washed out sickly white that brought to mind the time in the hospital. When the girls were pale from lack of sun and hope...
While Ryo noticed something flickering in the corner of his vision despite being low to the ground. He looked away from Yubel and found a flash of gold leaking from the edges of a card in Ryu's deck. "Little Kaiba what is that card?" He called out drawing Ryu's attention from the sky to the deck.
Ryu blinked as he looked down at the cards, since it wasn't a duel he just pulled out the card in question. Black Luster Soldier stared off to the side in his hand.
Uncle Kaiba's Ka Beast.
'Popular mythology states that Set was merely the god of storms and chaos, yet he had another facet to his duties. He protected outsiders who visited our homelands as a host would look after well meaning guests, that was the myths that were faith when your Uncle was born. As Yugi's General his duty was to protect the Pharaoh and the country and as he became a god it stuck. Kaiba's greatest divine strength is to protect others, so if you ever end up needing to save someone pray to your Uncle. Regardless of how he acted in my time, he will be forced to answer it. Kaiba will protect your loved ones in times of need if you ask him. But he will not protect you, he can't protect the self, only those loved by the one calling upon him. So you need someone to join your prayers with your own so that you can be protected." Uncle Malik had explained as they watched the sun set from Ryu's office.
"Uncle? That sounds like the 'god' existed before Uncle Kaiba. I don't get it, did my Uncles merely copy the pre-existing gods?"
"Yes, and no. In your Uncle Kaiba's case, the God was already in existence. His family named him in the honor of the God hoping he would develop the positive qualities Set possessed. Because of that when Kaiba awakened to his own divine nature he gravitated to those attributes. Protecting others is easily viewed in the modern sense as a positive. But his storms are to cleanse an area of negative energy or evil spirits. Even his power over chaos was meant to call forth the removal of stagnation and allow new things to be born. In the natural order we see this, when a random act of a storm sets fire to a forest. Yes, the older trees die, but the saplings that would never have grown otherwise now find their chance."
Malik gestured towards the sky, "Yugi was different though. It is our duty to never let him be bored with us."
"How come? What happens if Uncle Yugi gets 'bored'?" Ryu asked twisting in his seat to give his uncle his full attention.
"He'll forget we exist and once he does we stop existing," Malik answered looking down at Ryu through the corner of his eye. "We are literally products of his imagination hence how we can live in so many alternate realities. Then when we die, he gathers us up, forgets our sins and transgressions and allows our good sides to live in the actual world."
"Wait so we're like living in a simulated reality?" Ryu tried in confusion.
"Yes, because we wouldn't stop breaking Yugi's heart. He sits here in the living world because Kaiba forced him back, but he also resides in the land of the dead judging every one of us. But since there are multiple realities someone may be good in one reality and evil in another. So he splits us, he keeps those of us who are good and allows us to pass on to the real world and discards the evil."
"But how do we know if we're good? I mean if he's not the Christian God that means we don't have really anything to go off of on how to behave..." Ryu pointed out cautiously as he saw his uncles eyes cloud over. The pinch at the corners of his mouth and the wetness forming at the corner of his eyes.
"Ryou told me to never ask, that being mortal we didn't need to know Yugi's pain because it would likely break us. But I was brash and stupid and I bugged Yugi until he showed me a glimpse of a day in his 'divine life'." Malik shook his head, "just live your life because any answer I give is just going to be hard. Because knowing Yugi as a 'person' and recognize that he's above that by a pretty large margin..."
'Bugged Yugi until...' didn't end well and somehow bugging Uncle Malik in the same manner.
"So what does that spirit do?" Junko asked, as she pulled Momoe close to her if the situation meant they had to run.
"In game? Not much, he's just a Ritual monster that is pretty powerful and his art work is used for some other cards. But its true 'lore' is why its here... Its my Uncle's Ka, so like Ancient Fairy Dragon is to Little Ruka... And its 'ability' is the same in the game unless you know Uncle Kaiba and his divine self... Its a sign that Uncle Kaiba is 'listening' so as weird as this is going to sound. If we start praying that everyone is safe he'll protect us. So the rules are that you can pray for him to protect someone else just not yourself." Ryu explained before he turned his gaze back to the fire being spewed by the dragon.
"So it being here is a sign that we know that someone is listening enough to help?!" Kazu asked floored by the suggestion. His mind grinded to a halt then sped to so many tragedies from Satellite to everything that Yubel and Trueman had been up to. "What about everything else? Why didn't he protect anyone else?" Kazu demanded, forgetting that he was talking to a child as he glared in growing horror.
"Because Uncle Kaiba was Uncle Yugi's General. In his mind the 'only' people he needs to protect is Uncle Yugi and Father. Aunt Anzu said you have to essentially drag him along to get him to perform his Divine duties," Ryu explained. There was a solid deal of sympathy as he explained this, born from the fact that he had demanded the same answers from his Aunt when she explained it to him.
"That really doesn't inspire my confidence," Kazu warned with a frown as he looked at the spirit that was just... standing there encased in his armor that might as well have no joints.
"So what does it accomplish? Do we just get orbs of light that surround us? Does Yubal suddenly fall down a hole?" Yusei asked pulling everyone back on track. But he didn't really feel comfortable with how Ryu just shrugged. Like as not, Rua would have used that ability to protect Ruka the night that they got attacked. But if Power Tool's manifestation was due to Rua or Kaiba... well...
"I don't know, Father doesn't talk about it and my other aunt and uncles talk about it rarely. But I suspect, that because he would have known. That's how Tenjoin survived the volcano in China, Uncle Jounouchi used Uncle's ability and protected him." Ryu explained earning a start and retrospective look on Fubuki's face.
"I mean, it makes sense..." Fubuki confessed, as the volcano was never truly 'stable' and that he got as far as he did.. "So really anything could happen, like twisting fate to make sure the impossible becomes possible."
"So just pray that we want everyone else here safe..." Ryo asked in a tone demanding confirmation as he watched the orb continue to grow. "Because we don't have time for idle discussion here. If that shield goes down, if this is our only back up, we need to get started 'now'."
"Right," Momoe and Junko agreed as Asuka followed suit.
"It already started," Black Rose hissed, "the orb should have swelled to that size far more quickly.. the stories from the other spirits would confirm it I would say."
"Agreed," Fairy's tail flicked as she watched. "Yubel is struggling to make that thing though given its corrupted light and Set's proclivity of spirits is a 'Light' dragon."
"Well Yugi said He won't help us, but no one said anything about His General," Aki pointed out thoughtfully earning a look from Asuka and her group.
"I'm sorry, what?" Asuka asked causing Aki to internally sigh as the realization that she was at the point she was taking dragons talking for granted hit her.
"Black Rose was just noting that the orb should have long been that size and they're thinking its probably Kaiba's doing already. Though, I mean, 'what is prayer'? Are we expected to stand and stare at the sky or have we been doing it this whole battle?"
"Little Kaiba, how many of these spirits are in that deck?" Ryo finally asked in mounting curiosity and concern. In all the conversations the child had taken part in, he had never mentioned a spirit that could just 'see the future' or 'protect others but not the self'. He had only been able to explain that there were special cards that were direct references to those who had left. 'Fairies that become Ladies who can force the whims of fate to bow to them. Now these spirits that Kaiba just 'happens to have',' Yugi had said that this was 'their' fight. So was this it? The ability to deal with the disparity between the powerless teens and these rampaging Spirits was in the hands of two maybe three people?
"I don't know. Father isn't the type of man to face a threat with a deck of cards, so well..." Ryu answered as he tried to steal a peek under Black Lusters' face guard. Ka Beasts were supposed to hold similar features to their physical bodies and this wasn't a hologram or picture. Even Superia was meant to look like Isis, if she had blue skin and wings. His father never saw these spirits, perhaps they tried and he ignored them.
Yet as he spoke a roar tore through the air, a dragon yes, but too distant to be one of the Dragons or even Jesse's Crystal Dragon. Black Luster turned towards the sound, his head pointing before his body moved. "You wouldn't move for any other dragon right?" Ryu asked it uselessly.

"I don't think its a good idea to keep flying, we're sitting ducks up here," Malik warned as the serpentine dragon slithered through the night air towards the battle field. "They have dragons after all," he added hoping to remind Mokuba of how dangerous things were now. He began looking for a good place for the copter to land as the minutes began to stretch between himself and Mokuba.
An unpleasant thing when the silence forced him to remember that Zalinka was with them, untrained and unprepared... His scars pricked with his growing worry over his daughter. He hadn't been able to train her, how could he when he had no Ka of his own? His siblings were gone, anyone who had a Ka was either a Dragon or gone.
"Zalinka's a smart girl, between the two of them they shouldn't run into any trouble they can't handle..." Mokuba pointed out in distraction. "But they can 'land' in all manner of trouble that money can't save them from..."
Yet as Mokuba mused, Malik watched that scrawny Stardust Dragon dive onto the other dragon and disappear in a burst of flames. 'It sent itself to the graveyard?' "Mokuba what do you know of Stardust dragon's abilities?"
"Its main one is called 'Sanctuary' and it self destructs and takes whatever with him to protect Fudo. Like Kuriboh only a dragon."
