The Sorcerer Hero: Deku
Chapter sixteen: Nazarick vs. the League of Villains, part two
Sekijiro Kan, the Blood Hero Vlad King, as well as the homeroom teacher for U.A.'s Class 1-B, led his students out early in the morning to begin training at the summer break training camp. "Ain't it a bit early in the morning, Kan-sensei?" complained Togaru Kamakiri as he sleepily rubbed his right eye.
"We need to be up and at 'em for your training," Kan replied, equal parts firm towards his students and understanding of how they're still a bit tired, "We especially don't wanna fall behind our peers and friendly rivals in Class 1-A, do we?" Kan said the 'peers and friendly rivals' bit while casting a (very firm) glance at his student Monoma.
Monoma was about to speak up, but his classmate Jurota cut him off by saying, "It would appear that Class 1-A is... already hard at work training." The way Jurota trailed off, the shift in his tone, told the rest of Class 1-B that something was up. Turning to look, they all saw that Class 1-A was not only training already, but the training looked borderline hellish.
"A thought occurs, Kan-sensei," Itsuka began, "There's a combined forty students here, and only you, Aizawa-sensei, and the Wild Wild Pussycats as pro heroes to supervise us. That's a total of six pro heroes. Don't you think that's a bit lacking compared to how many hero students are here?"
"I actually agree," Kan began, "And suggested to Nezu to send and least two more U.A. teachers along to help manage things. Both Yamada and Inui volunteered to help out. Even Aizawa saw the logic in having more pro heroes help supervise you kids. But things are getting tighter than ever for the pro heroes, what with those Nomus showing up multiple times, and don't even get us started on those big black skeleton warrior monsters."
Ibara Shiozaki turned her gaze over to where Ainz was training, shooting Fireballs at the surface of a lake to contain what he was doing. "I got it that Midoriya of Class 1-A has a history of vanquishing those unholy monsters that even Nomus have trouble with," Ibara said, "Perhaps he could end up as the salvation that society needs."
Kan nodded once in understanding. "Yeah, I got it from All Might that Midoriya destroyed five of the six big black skeleton warrior monsters that showed up at Aldera Junior High, and would have done the same with the sixth and final one had All Might himself didn't come in and take it out for him."
Some of the Class 1-B students looked surprised by what they heard. "Wow, so Class 1-A does boast some power after all," Shihai remarked dryly.
"Well that means we have to work all the harder to catch up to those heathens in Class 1-A!" Monoma declared, "We can't let them leave us in the dust, now can we?" The rest of Class 1-B all gave cheers to show that they were spurred on to try to catch up to what Class 1-A was boasting in terms of power.
...
The students gave a lot of effort during their training, and later on that day, close to dinner time, the exhausted students prepared their dinner. It was provided for them the previous night, but now they had to cook dinner themselves. At least the ingredients were provided for them, and they all agreed to make curry. Ainz took note of how Bakugo had a surprising level of culinary skill, at least enough to make some more basic dishes served in the cafeteria in Nazarick (if you asked Ainz).
While the students worked, Ainz while he was rinsing some veggies was surprised when Kota came up and handed him an unopened bottle of water, before turning around and running off to hide. Ainz chalked it up to a little kid being shy. "Well now Midoriya," Mandalay said as she walked up to the Sorcerer King, "Kota appears to have taken a shine to you."
"It is sweet, I will admit," Ainz remarked, "Although I confess a curiosity as to why."
"It's because you said he has every right to be upset his parents are dead," Mandalay began to explain, "All he's heard on the subject all his life so far is that they died heroic, noble deaths and that he ought to be proud of them. No one before you ever considered things from Kota's point of view, no one ever considered the fact that he's a young kid who still needs a loving, nurturing home life." Mandalay had a troubled, resigned look on her face. "...A home life taken from Kota by the villain who killed Kota's parents."
Ainz nodded once in agreement. It was messed up that a young kid would essentially be expected to be happy their parents are dead. Ainz remembers a few of his old guild mates who'd kill whoever told a little kid to be happy their parents were killed. Ainz had already taken in three young kids who lost everything, having them cared for by his interests in the second New World, and not just due to how he wants to cultivate their potential as assets to his goals.
He also wants to cultivate Kota's amazing potential, but said nothing about his thoughts aloud.
Eventually, all of the food was made and everyone dug in. Ainz took a small amount of curry, surprising his peers in Class 1-A with how small his appetite was. He couldn't tell them it was due to how he has no need to eat food due to being undead, but he was, with the body he inherited from Izuku Midoriya, able to eat and drink, doing so only for the sake of appearance if need be. The food and drink he consumes simply vanishes after appearing in his undead stomach.
As Ainz sat his plate down, Mandalay asked someone to go find Kota and bring him back so he can eat. Ainz volunteered, saying he'll even bring something to Kota if need be. Mandalay thanked him, and told him where to find Kota's secret base which is where she suspects Kota went off to. Ainz would know where Kota is anyway due to subtly sneaking a Shadow Demon into Kota's shadow to keep an eye on him, as Ainz has decided Kota would be a valuable asset to him.
Ainz, carrying a plate of curry and a glass of water, went to find Kota, eventually finding him alone. "...Oh, you're the guy who understands me," Kota said, "Umm, sorry about punching your balls during your first day here."
"It is of no consequence," Ainz assured Kota, offering him the food and drink. As Kota took it, Ainz said, "I got the gist of your history. Personally, I find it obscene that people only focused on the valiant side of the story, without considering how those left behind may feel. Sure your parents had given their lives in the line of duty and that is heroic, but telling the loved ones left behind only that they ought to be proud is wrong. The loss hurt you, and that ought to be acknowledged."
Kota looked at Ainz in awed amazement. Suddenly, the young boy after setting his meal aside threw his arms around Ainz and hugged him. Ainz then heard gently crying coming from Kota as the young boy hugged him. The Sorcerer King had no problem with this, he was reminded to an extent of Enri's younger sister when she visited Nazarick, a young child showing nothing but sincere and touched amazement to him.
Ainz Ooal Gown, right there and then, silently vowed all the more to make sure Muscular suffers for what his actions had done to Kota Izumi.
Later at night, at a location overlooking the training camp, Dabi with Spinner and Mirajane by his side and the other villains in the LoV behind them spied on the training camp with a pair of binoculars. "Tomorrow night is the night we strike to pick up Endeavor's baby from U.A. Day Care," Dabi said as he lowered the pair of binoculars he was holding.
"Taking a U.A. student from a training camp like this," Mr. Compress began, "And right from under the noses of the pro heroes. That will go a very long way to giving the heroes the middle finger to end all middle fingers."
"And it doubles as a middle finger aimed at Endeavor," Mustard remarked, "It's like killing two birds with one stone."
Nodding once, Dabi said, "The boss man says he also wants us to nab Ragdoll of the Wild Wild Pussycats, but I have no idea why. Either way, we're grabbing her too."
"How many pro heroes are at the training camp again?" Beros asked as she stepped forward from where she stood with Rappa.
Dabi turned his head to look at his archer. "A total of six," Dabi said, "Two U.A. teachers, Eraserhead and Vlad King, and the Wild Wild Pussycats."
Muscular scoffed in annoyance. "So only six adults and a bunch of brats? Man, there's so few good ones worth killing."
"My bet is that the heroes are going for a quality over quantity approach here," Rappa reasoned as he folded his arms over his chest, "We may see some good sport yet. And who knows? Maybe one or two of the brats can prove to be rowdy."
Dabi considered the two brute types he had; he'd reason Muscular to be stronger, but Rappa was a more skilled fighter, not to mention faster, and he was more obedient and less likely to go off script. He also showed a willingness to afford others at least some respect. All in all, Dabi would vote to keep Rappa over Muscular, only wanting both because of issues with not wanting to be short on personnel and needing literally everyone willing to come.
"...Aside from Ragdoll as the boss man wants her," Dabi said, "The other pro heroes at the training camp can die for all I care. But let's avoid killing any kids. We're going to get the heroes on our backs enough as it is as we plan to kidnap two people. The last thing we need to do is get the body of a student attending U.A. Day Care on the six o' clock news, that'll turn the heat under us up even more than we can handle at the moment."
"...So that's a no on stabbing any of them?" Toga asked.
"If you can stab them in a way that'll not kill them, fine," Dabi replied.
Spinner gave Toga a quizzical look before turning to look at Dabi. "...She's a few picnics short of a sandwich," Spinner whispered.
"A good number of them are," Dabi whispered back, "But I need as many hands on deck as I can get my hands on."
The next morning, the students were right back to work on their training, working their quirks to the limit. Ainz was able to get more details on how the quirks of his peers worked, mainly Yaoyorozu's quirk, Creation. It was very appealing to him, especially if it was capable of spawning materials and various ingredients from YGGDRASIL. If Creation could do that, then Ainz was planning to mark Yaoyorozu as an essential person.
If the League of Villains were planning to kidnap Yaoyorozu instead of Todoroki, Ainz would have been a LOT more active in preventing the soon to come villain invasion on the training camp.
Ainz learned that Yaoyorozu's quirk uses extra weight as a fuel source, which explained why she liked the high calorie shakes at the one eatery under the Mr. Suzuki business umbrella. In terms of what a quirk uses as fuel, Yaoyorozu's Creation is the same as Agari's Fat Doctor. As such, Ainz as he cast Dragon Lightnings against a rock to look like he was training wondered if Yaoyorozu would be able to use the obesity granted by Stout Strength as fuel for Creation, and if so will it regenerate overnight like how Agari's Fat Doctor and Stout Strength combo works.
The more fuel Yaoyorozu had for her quirk, the better. Especially if she could make what Ainz was hoping she might be able to make. Ainz resolved to test that theory as soon as he could.
...
Later on in the evening, the students got ready for a game called the Test of Courage. Ainz got it that it was essentially the students trying to scare each other in the woods. The students who had failed the practicals of the finals were dragged away by Aizawa for extra lessons, including Monoma of Class 1-B as Kan asked him to as he was going to be busy going over a few things with one of his other students, that being Yanagi.
As Ainz was getting ready to be sent in with Mineta, Mandalay said, "Hey, can one of you go find Kota for me?"
"I'll go," Ainz volunteered, "He's probably at his little secret base again." Ainz secretly knew that Kota really was there, he still had that Shadow Demon hiding in Kota's shadow to keep an eye on him and protect him as Ainz had declared Kota to be a valuable asset to him, and the Shadow Demon told Ainz that Kota was alone and where. Ainz went alone into the woods, more or less making a straight beeline for Kota.
...But even Ainz was going to be surprised by what he was going to see.
"Alright team," Dabi said, "I got it from the spy within U.A.'s ranks that Todoroki is outside and alone. Ragdoll is near the lodge building, but Eraserhead and Vlad King are nearby, and Vlad King has one of his female students with him."
"So what do we do?" Toga asked.
Spinner turned his attention to Beros. "Can you snipe at the pros without killing them? Dead pros will also set living ones on us faster."
"I can pin a fly to a tree from one-hundred meters away and keep the fly alive," Beros said, "Putting an arrow in the knees of the pros will be a cinch."
"Mr. Compress, you're coming with me," Dabi said, "As I got quirk suppressing handcuffs to slap onto Endeavor's baby, and you'll capture him with your quirk after that."
Mr. Compress nodded in the affirmative. "Gotta catch 'em all, as the old saying goes."
Dabi turned to look at Spinner. "Spinner, I need you to lead forces to the lodge to capture and contain Ragdoll until Mr. Compress and I can come by to collect her. As soon as we have both of the targets, the League of Villains will use Mirajane's quirk to warp the hell out of here."
"Who will I take with me?" Spinner asked.
"First off, you're taking Beros," Dabi began, "She'll snipe at the heroes to take them down, preferably non-fatally as you have a point on how killing here will set living pro heroes on us faster. Twice is also going to give you a numbers advantage. You'll also take either Muscular or Rappa to be the big strong beefy bodyguard to protect you and or Beros in case any pro heroes get close."
Spinner took a quick look at Muscular and Rappa before turning to look back at Dabi. "I'll take Rappa if that's okay. He's giving me vibes that he'll be far more likely to stick to the plan than run in guns a'blazin to fight on the front lines. Plus he and Beros get along well enough, that familiarity ought to make him more likely to stick close and keep Beros from getting hit by any pro heroes."
Dabi nodded in agreement with Spinner, then turned to look at Muscular. "Muscular, I guess that means you can keep things in check at random. Remember, don't kill anyone unless it's Mandalay, Pixie-Bob, Tiger, Eraserhead, or Vlad King. If any of the kids or Ragdoll pop up, just smack them away gently and continue on."
"Yes, mom," Muscular replied in an annoyed tone, like he was a child being scolded. The way that Muscular replied to Dabi told him that he was being proven more and more right about how he was not able to fully trust Muscular. Dabi was suspecting that, barring Muscular or maybe Moonfish, that his forces here will refrain from killing, giving them some time to work with Todoroki and Ragdoll before the heroes take action.
Dabi failed to see how things won't go as planned otherwise.
In the woods, Class 1-B students Yosetsu, Juzo, and Nirengeki were getting ready to scare some of the Class 1-A students. "I just hope that Class 1-A remembers that this is basically a game in good fun and that we do NOT share Monoma's attitude towards them," Nirengeki said.
The others nodded in agreement. "Oh yeah, they ought to be chill," Yosetsu remarked, "Todoroki especially as he told me he was gonna refrain from getting with Momo and even try to help me get with her myself."
"Oh yeah, your crush on Yaoyorozu," Juzo said, "Yeah, Todoroki and his classmates are a lot cooler than Monoma gives them credit for. I even got it from Togaru who got it from Bakugo that Midoriya is, like, hella powerful. You remember those big black skeleton warrior monsters that were on the news for the Hosu incident?"
"I heard that there was only three in Hosu," Nirengeki said, "But six at an incident at Aldera Junior High."
"I was getting to that," Juzo said, "Well anyway, Midoriya according to Bakugo killed five of the six big black skeleton warrior monsters at Aldera, and would have killed the sixth one as well had All Might not of flown in and took the kill from Midoriya."
Both Yosetsu and Nirengeki looked surprised. "No... no way..." Nirengeki said, "Those monsters are terrors that have even pros scared to move... but Midoriya took out five as easily as Itsuka can chop Monoma on the back of the head?"
Gulping nervously, Yosetsu said, "I... I hope I don't have to compete against Midoriya for getting to date Momo. I don't think that even how I feel about and for Momo will give me enough of an edge to overcome that much power."
Juzo was about to speak up, but stopped short when he and the others smelled something funny. "Damn, Nirengeki," Juzo said, "I know you love microwave burritos, but do you have to let out your farts whenever?"
"Dude, that wasn't me!" Nirengeki insisted, "I... I..." Nirengeki and the others with him grew very tired, then they all fell over, having passed out.
After the three boys from Class 1-B were out of it, Mustard walked in and saw that the gas from his quirk was working like a charm. "Feh, hero wannabe losers," Mustard remarked as he looked at the downed boys.
...
"Ah, there you are Kota," Ainz said as he walked up to where Kota was sitting, "Mandalay was a bit worried about you so she asked me to go fetch you as I figured you'd be here."
"Oh, hey Midoriya," Kota said, "Mandalay told me your name as I kind of like you because you actually care to understand me."
The Sorcerer King smiled gently. "I can understand a lot of people if given time to-"
"-Both let me kill you so I can shove my feet up your asses and use you as slippers! Ah ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!"
Ainz, acting quickly, cast Time Stop to freeze time. While time was frozen, he saw a frozen in time man with his muscles overgrown as if by some extreme form of hypertrophy try to fly on in to strike at him and Kota. Ainz figured that this was Muscular from the League of Villains, and that their attack on the training camp to take Todoroki was starting.
Ainz, wanting to make a bit of a show, grabbed Kota and pulled him away enough to ensure that no harm would come to him. He then dropped the Time Stop, and when time resumed both Muscular and Kota were confused. "How did you move so quickly, kid?" Muscular asked.
"My quirk is a lot more versatile than I tend to show," Ainz said, having Kota stand behind him. Although Ainz had an idea who Muscular was, he had to play dumb as neither Muscular nor Kota was aware of that. "Now then," Ainz began, "As I have no doubt that there's going to be a fight here, it is common courtesy to give me your na-"
"That's... that's Muscular!" Kota piped up while pointing a shaky finger at Muscular, "He's the villain who killed my parents!"
"You're gonna have to be a little more specific, kid," Muscular said, "I've killed the parents of a lot of people. But then again I've killed a lot of people. But I think I'll kill you kid, so I can have the entire family set dead as doorn-"
"And that was your first mistake, Mr. Muscular," Ainz interrupted, his tone and expression making it clear he was pissed, "Declaring an intent to kill someone under my protection."
Sneering at Ainz, Muscular said, "Oh? You think you can stop me?"
"I'm certain," Ainz replied, then moved to look like he was going to rush Muscular. But the moment Ainz took a step, he cast Time Stop again. This time he walked up to Muscular, used Harvest Quirk on him, cast a knock out spell on him, then dropped the Time Stop while looking like he was punching Muscular in the face. Kota was not just amazed by Ainz's apparent speed, but also his strength as he knocked Muscular out with one punch.
As Muscular's knocked out form dropped to the ground in a heap (Ainz planned to collect him later to take to Nazarick and let one of his loyal NPCs decide what Muscular's fate will be), the Sorcerer King turned to look at Kota. "It would appear that we need to alert the senseis and my peers that a villain had found his way to the training camp," Ainz said.
"What if there are more villains?" Kota asked, looking scared, "I mean, you should have no trouble, you just took out Muscular like it was nothing, but what about the teachers? What about Mandalay and her teammates? What about the other students from your school? What about me?"
"That if there are more," Ainz said, "Not only will none of them so much as touch you, but if they do anything to anyone here, the price they will pay for it WILL be steep." Ainz then told Kota that it was okay to leave Muscular where he was, he's too knocked out to do anything, then picked the young boy up and carried him off to go alert the rest of the training camp on what had happened.
Ainz supposed that he may have to rough up his own agents, Beros and Rappa, at some point if it comes down to it. They have proven to have value, Rappa especially, but Ainz was going to have to prioritize Kota. Besides, an attack like this was an excellent chance to bring more glory to the name of Izuku Midoriya, which will help with Ainz's long term plans for the second New World.
The heroes and the U.A. students had no idea what was going on. Out in the woods somewhere, Yaoyorozu, Jiro, and Mineta were confronted by the villain Moonfish. "Flesh..." Moonfish said as he moved towards the two girls and Mineta, "Must... must sink teeth into... into flesh..."
"Geh, this guy is a creep," Jiro said.
"Don't worry girls, I got this!" Mineta said, right before pulling the purple sticky balls from his head, they regrew pretty much instantly, and threw them at the feet of Moonfish, piling up enough to stick Moonfish's feet to the ground and keep him from moving. "...There, he's stuck," Mineta said when he turned to face Jiro and Yaoyorozu, "Now let's get the hell out of here!"
"You... you weren't even thinking about trying to score points with us," Yaoyorozu remarked, able to tell that getting lucky with a girl was the last thing on Mineta's mind.
Gently shaking his head, Mineta replied, "No, I just want all of us to get out of this alive! Now hurry! Let's get the hell out of here while the villain is stuck and can't att-"
*SHING*
*SCLORCH*
"AHHHHHRRRRRUUUUGGGGGHHHH!"
Yaoyorozu and Jiro saw it, looks of horror forming on their faces, as Mineta was pierced from behind by multiple piercing rods of teeth that grew out of Moonfish's mouth. Most pierced his torso, but one pierced his left shoulder and one pierced his head, going through the left eye socket. Both Jiro and Yaoyorozu screamed in horror at the tops of their lungs as they saw one of their peers in Class 1-A mortally wounded, and in the process of trying to help them escape from a villain no less.
Moonfish was able to pull his teeth back from the doomed Mineta, and seeing Mineta's doomed form jerk as the rods of teeth were pulled out of him made Yaoyorozu and Jiro scream in horror even louder. "Sunk... sunk teeth into flesh..." Moonfish said, "Must... must sink teeth into more-"
"HE WAS IMPROVING HIMSELF, YOU ASS!"
Moonfish was cut off when a Fireball, barely restrained enough from being strong enough to kill, flew into Moonfish and blasted him into a tree, knocking him out. Yaoyorozu and Jiro saw it as Ainz stood there, a scared Kota hiding behind him. As much as he wanted to, Ainz couldn't kill; he got it that pro heroes aren't supposed to kill, and a kill on record would be a mar against Izuku Midoriya. Ainz will have to settle for taking Moonfish later and letting one of the Nazarick NPCs do with him as they pleased.
...Scratch that. Ainz was going to take Moonfish's quirk, take him to the arena in Nazarick, bind him to a post, and lob unrestrained Fireballs at him until he felt better.
Ainz actually used Time Stop to safely take Moonfish's quirk and cast a spell on him to ensure he'd stay knocked out before letting time resume. Ainz turned to look at where Yaoyorozu and Jiro looked down at where Mineta, losing blood, was laying on the ground. Ainz walked over to where Mineta laid on the ground, checked for a pulse. He looked up at the girls who were joined by Kota. Ainz, a grim look on his face, gently shook his head.
"I'm afraid that our classmate Minoru Mineta is dead."
The girls as well as Kota began crying over the now deceased Mineta. Were it not for the witnesses as well as how the League of Villains has their spy who for all Ainz knew could be watching them right now, he'd of cast a spell to bring Mineta back to life while healing all physical damage his person had suffered. Mineta was actually improving himself as a person. He was becoming better than what he used to be.
And now Mineta, in an act the girls said was purely heroic, had been killed by a villain.
Ainz swore to make the League of Villains pay for this.
"Yaoyorozu," Ainz said, getting the crying Yaoyorozu's attention, "Can you use your quirk to make some manner of sheet to cover Mineta's body with? Given the situation, we're going to have to leave him here as for all we know there's more villains here. In fact, I came here after defeating one by the name of Muscular. The rest of the training camp has to be alerted."
Yaoyorozu was able to gather enough of her nerve to do as Ainz asked, using Creation to make a white sheet large enough to cover all of Mineta's body. Not exactly difficult given Mineta's short stature. "Where do we go now?" Jiro asked, barely able to keep herself from crying.
"We need to find others and group with them," Ainz said, "Safety in numbers and all of that."
"But what if we run into more villains?" Yaoyorozu asked, "What if they try to-"
"Midoriya defeated Muscular," Kota said, trying to be brave despite the situation and his young age, "And he defeated the tooth villain. Midoriya is strong. We have nothing to fear if we stick with him."
The girls agreed and left with Ainz and Kota. They had to leave the knocked out Moonfish behind due to lack of options, and even Jiro, the girl in Class 1-A arguably most against Mineta due to his prior perverted behavior, hated what had happened to the short grape haired boy. But there was an ongoing attack by villain on the summer break training camp. They had to go and warn the others, as well as help fight against what other villains there were.
END, CHAPTER SIXTEEN
Author's notes;
This chapter continues the training camp shenanigans, where Ainz just acts like he's training but due to being max level he can't actually get stronger. He also has to play dumb when he sees the attack by the League of Villains to kidnap Todoroki starting despite knowing about it as they don't know that he knows about it.
Unfortunately, that leads to Moonfish killing Mineta after he sticks the tooth villain to the ground with his sticky purple balls so he, Yaoyorozu, and Jiro can all run away. Ainz sees this after coming fresh off of making Muscular look like a complete and utter joke, and gets so pissed he barely keeps his power in check to avoid killing Moonfish. He still knocks him out though.
Ainz vows to avenge Mineta as he leads Yaoyorozu, Jiro, and Kota out of there to go see if they can help their friends, peers, and the heroes out of danger. The attack on the training camp will continue in the next chapter, where the other students as well as the pro heroes give their all to fight off the villains. Until then, later.
