Chapter 5: Heroes of New York (ニューヨークの英雄たち; Nyūyōku no eiyū-tachi)
Note: This chapter takes place parallel to Chapter 5 of the Mega Man X3 manga.
It was 7 pm. It was already dark outside at that time because it was winter. In Queens, a part of New York City, everything was peaceful. There were not so many people walking along the streets of the district who were returning home from work or just walking around. Suddenly we notice that a lone figure is standing at the top of the building.
Sonic looked around. New York was somewhat reminded the hedgehog of megacities in his world such as Sunshine City, Central City and Seaside City. When he looked around, the hedgehog was lost in his thoughts.
"Although Eggman, like Doppler, is an evil and mad scientist, but unlike the latter, his words still often made sense." thought Sonic. "When I remember his words, I feel uneasy. But why did the Doppler give me the chance to get the emerald when he could have got it in the first place? Maybe he was testing me or is it something else? Besides, what are these visions that I saw? Are these memories or untold stories from my planet's past? More question than answers…As always. But I'll figure out these two strange cases later...Or tell Tails about it. Now I have two things to do: A. Find clues so I can find Tails. B. Stop a group of mavericks that will blow up Manhattan. But…Where is Manhattan?"
Soon Sonic went downstairs and began to walk along the street. Darkness, light from street lamps, snow, ice and silence gave this street an atmosphere. During this, the hedgehog was looking for a map of the city so that he could get to Manhattan faster. As soon as the blue speedster reached the other street, he suddenly heard something. Sonic looked around for the source of the sound. He began to walk carefully so as not to attract attention and prepare for danger. He always did that when he, along with Tails and Knuckles, thwarted the plans of his nemesis. As soon as he walked about 50 meters, suddenly an ice wall formed in front of him. The blue hedgehog jumped away from the ice wall.
"In the name of Freedom, don't tell me Dr. Doppler is already here with his bots!" Sonic said irritably with a serious look.
As soon as he said that, suddenly the reploid stopped in front of them. This reploid had a female figure and wore crimson, orange, and yellow armor. He also had black under armor, a helmet that covered her face completely except for his eyes, which even had crimson goggles, "pointy ears" and roller skates. Sonic readied his fists in case this reploid attacked him, but instead the reploid spoke in a friendly, feminine tone with a Spanish accent.
"Hola (ola) chico! Are you okay?"
"I'm fine." Sonic replied, realizing that the reploid was not dangerous for them.
"Well, thank God." said the female reploid. "Wait, are you that blue hedgehog from the news?"
"Yes, I am." said the blue hedgehog with a smirk, but he didn't seem surprised. "And my name is Sonic. Sonic the Hedgehog."
"Glad to meet you. I'm sorry that Pazmar nearly froze you". said the crimson reploid. "We're dealing with Mr. Big Bad Guy here."
"Who is Pazmar?" Sonic asked.
"My partner and best friend." reploid replied. "And here he is."
She pointed behind her back and Sonic saw another reploid, but a larger one. The appearance of this reploid was based on the arctic wolf. The color of his armor is blue, light blue, blue, white and teal. He had blue teeth and claws on his hands and feet, and a blue "backpack" on his back. The ear openings, neck and forehead were turquoise. The eyes of the white wolf reploid were blue. One of his ears was damaged.
Pazmar dealt with one huge robot.
"By the way, I forgot to introduce myself," said the female reploid. "I'm Rollera and I'm with Pazmar are your friendly heroes in the area. Now wait here for me..."
Rollera went rollerblading to her partner.
"Hey Pazmar!" she told him. "Let's show Mister Bad Boy our signature trick! Are you ready?"
The wolf reploid nodded his head in agreement. The first went Pazmar. He opened his mouth, and a cold stream of snow came out of it, which froze the legs of a large robot so that he could not move. The wolf reploid spouted a cold stream once more, but it formed an icy road. Rollera drove along gradually emerging roads. When she got to the right height, Pazmar jumped and reached the same height as the female reploid. They lifted their legs in sync and…
BAM!
They kicked the robot's head, leaving a large dent. Both heroes landed on the ground before the robot's head exploded due to damage. Rollera and Pazmar got to their feet and high-fived each other.
"Well done, Pazmar!" Rollera said in a joyful tone.
"Wow, your attack is good." Sonic said with a grin.
"Well, how do you like our show?" Rollera asked as she rode up to them.
"Great!" said the blue hedgehog. "You were both great at your signature stunt. Are you and Pazmar the Maverick Hunters?"
"No, we're not hunters," the female reploid replied before she pointedly spoke. "We are local heroes who save New York every day!"
"Cool!" Sonic said. "I like to think that besides the maverick hunters, there are still people who fight with them."
"Thank you!" Rollera said with a smile.
"I don't want to sound rude, but why are you and your partner doing this during the evening?" the blue hedgehog asked her. "Do you feel more comfortable this way? And your friend is always so silent, I see?"
"Yes, you're right about us being more comfortable doing our heroic business at this time." the crimson reploid said with a confident smile before this smile disappeared. "And what about Pazmar… He's mute."
Rollera noticed that Sonic was looking at her in confusion before explaining:
"He lost his voice box before we met. I do not know the circumstances how it all happened, not only because he could not speak, but because of memory loss."
"Understood," said the blue hedgehog. "You both really work as a team. And... Do you know where Manhattan is? I have important things to do there."
"What's up?" Rollera asked curiously. "Let me guess: you will join X and beat the bad guys there like you did in Raga? I've heard a lot about it on the news."
"Actually, X did more of the work than me." Sonic said. "But my job is to get into Manhattan. There's a group of mavericks out there that's going to blow up the whole area, and I have to get there before they can do it."
"So, you're going to beat the bad guys?" Rollera asked with stars in her eyes.
"Well, we can say so," said the blue hedgehog. "I also need to collect information from which I will get leads to find my friend."
"Wow! So cool!" the female relpoid said happily. "Can Pazmar and I join you?"
"Fine!" Sonic said as he raised his thumb and blinked one eye. "Will you show me where Manhattan is? This is my first time in this city."
"Si mi amigo!" Rollera said, skating forward. "Follow me and Pazmar!"
"OK!" said the blue hedgehog before he followed two local heroes of Queens together towards Manhattan.
A few minutes later...
Upon reaching the streets of Manhattan, Sonic, Rollera and Pazmar saw a bunch of people standing near the skyscraper. Realizing that something serious had happened, Rollera stopped near a man in a work suit and asked:
"Excuse me, sir. Do you know what happened?"
"The Mavericks attacked the Empire State Building," the man in the suit replied. "Some of the Maverick hunters got in there, but they didn't come out. I don't know what they want in this skyscraper, but I know it's no good."
After the man told the whole situation, she turned to her partner and the blue speedster. The three of them nodded their heads and in front of the surprised crowd, the trio quickly entered the skyscraper.
"It's that blue hedgehog!" said one reploid from the crowd, recognizing Sonic as the famous hedgehog from the news.
"And with him Rollera and Pazmar!" the middle-aged woman said loudly, as she did not expect both heroes from the neighboring area to be here.
Inside, Sonic, Rollera, and Pazmar fought off the Mavericks. The blue hedgehog used his speed and his acrobatics to destroy the robots in an instant. The reploid speedster not only used speed and acrobatics, but also hand-to-hand combat. And the wolf reploid froze, cut with claws and teeth a large number of robots, and destroyed everything in his path.
They soon reached the top of the Empire State Building. They entered what looked like a computer room. There, the trio saw an unfamiliar purple reploid with a gun on his shoulder, who was doing something at the large monitor of a huge computer. Suspecting that he was doing something wrong, Sonic began to walk towards the mysterious robot.
"Hey you there!" reploid drew attention to the blue hedgehog, who addressed him. "May I ask what are you doing at the computer? Are you play ... Ah!"
Before he could speak, the hedgehog was caught in an electromagnetic trap, causing both Rollera's and Pazmar's eyes to widen in shock.
"Sonic!" shouted the crimson reploid.
"Hey, what is it?!" Sonic asked, looking at the mysterious reploid. "What's happening?!"
"Doctor Doppler knew you'd come, Sonic the Hedgehog, to ruin everything." the reploid turned towards them, who had a helmet with the letter "V" on his forehead, which covered his face completely except for one intimidating eye. "By the way, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Vile. I'm an old friend of Mega Man X. I heard you fought two Mavericks with X. Your skills are very impressive. You're even better than X in some ways..."
"Hey!" the blue hedgehog said loudly, offended by such a statement. "X is not a weakling and he is strong in his own way! I even saw him deal with Buffallo and rhino right in front of my eyes. By the way, what was the name of this rhino?"
"What were you doing near the computer?" Rollera suddenly asked, driving up to Sonic's electromagnetic trap and looking at Vile with narrowed eyes.
Behind her, Pazmar bared his fangs and growled angrily at the purple Reploid.
"Oh, I'm just telling true facts," Vile said, pointing his cannon at the three of them. "And what I was doing near the Information Computer ... I will not say. What about you three idiots? I will inform the Maverick hunters that you are already dead!"
Soon, the purple reploid's cannon began to charge. But suddenly…
BA-WHOOM SNAAP
"Ah?" the purple reploid asked, and looked at his cannon to find that it was frozen. Vile suddenly felt a blow to his jaw. He flew to the side and landed on one knee.
"Hey Mister Purple Guy!" Rollera said, riding up to him, followed by Pazmar. "You weren't taught good manners or something?"
Vile didn't answer. He snapped his fingers. Soon one player entered the room. It was a huge snake-like mechanoid that was even taller than Pazmar and had a round ball on its forehead. His body was marsh-colored, he had only one eye.
"I'll leave you with him for now." the purple reploid said. "I don't want to waste my batteries on you. I will have a fight with X in the future anyway. Sayonara."
Vile pressed something on his hand, it "turned" him into purple flash and he flew up. The heroes were left in the same room as the boss.
"Rollera! Pazmar!" Sonic shouted in the mind and began to think of ways to get out of the trap.
Hearing sounds from above, the blue hedgehog looked up and saw how the mechanoloid was quickly approaching him with sharp teeth. But suddenly, someone, who curled up into a ball hit the mechanoid's head hard. After that, the stranger came out of the ball shape… He was…
"Tails!" Sonic exclaimed happily when he saw his friend.
"Sonic!" Glad to see you alive and unharmed! said the little fox in turn as he pulled out the Miles Electric. "Don't worry! I know how to free you from the trap!"
"Is he your friend?" Rollera asked the blue hedgehog.
"I am," Tails replied, starting to do something on his device. "My name is Tails, what's your name?"
"I'm Rollera, and this is my partner Pazmar." the reploid woman replied, pointing at the wolf reploid. "Glad to meet you."
"Glad to meet you too," the little fox smiled, having finished doing something on his tablet. "... And it's ready!"
He pressed his finger on the Miles Electric screen and the trap disappeared. Sonic got to his feet.
"Thanks, Tails!" the blue hedgehog thanked his friend.
"My pleasure." replied the little fox with a smirk. "Ready to fight?"
"That's right, buddy!" Sonic said with his trademark smirk before he turned to Rollera and Pazmar. "Are you both ready?"
"Since my birth!" the female reploid said with a smile under her mask, showing thumbs up along with her partner.
The battle has begun. Sonic, Tails, and Rollera actively attacked and beat the snake mechanoloid. Pazmar used his breath to freeze the robot's lower body to slow it down. During this, the mechanoloid hit female reloid with its tail, causing her to fly off into the wall. Seeing what happened to her, Pazmar forgot about the robot and ran to help her. But the snake mechanoloid took Rollera by her leg with his teeth and threw her into the wall again.
"Rollera!" Tails shouted in fright and shock when he saw what was happening to her.
The fox flew towards the female reploid to help her up, but the mechanoloid hit him with its massive arm.
"Tails!" Sonic shouted and looked at the large robot with clenched teeth before he.
Seeing what happened to his friend, Pazmar was furious. He jumped onto the wall and climbed it with his claws until he reached the top point and jumped from there. The wolf reploid froze the eyes of the mechanoloid so that he could not see what was happening.
Meanwhile, Sonic helped Tails and Rollera to their feet and saw that the snake-like robot's eyes were frozen in ice. Taking advantage of this, Tails grabbed Sonic and quickly flew upwards while Pazmar, who had landed on the ground, picked up crimson reploid and ran to where it would safe for her.
The little fox reached a suitable peak and threw Sonic straight into the mechanoid's mouth. The blue hedgehog turned into a ball and approached its mouth with great speed.
CRUSH
It instantly passed through the mouth and torso of the mechalonoid, leaving a huge hole in the back of the mouth. The huge robot stood for a while before it fell to the floor. Rollera stared at the blue hedgehog in surprise as she and Pazmar kept a safe distance from the snake-like robot. She didn't expect this from him. There was a moment of silence before the female reploid rose to her feet and broke the silence.
"Sonic, IT WAS COOL!" Rollera praised, quickly approaching the blue hedgehog. "I didn't know you could do that! It even seems to me that your strength is equal to the strength of Mega Man X himself! Where did you get such tricks from and can you teach me how to do it?"
"Long years of self-training and creative solutions for acrobatic stunts." Tails replied.
"And so," Sonic approached Roller and Pazmar, and extended his fist to him, "thanks for the help! By fists?"
Everyone looked at the blue hedgehog in silence before the female reploid extended her fist and collided with Sonic's fist.
"By fists." she said.
Soon everyone joined in the friendly clash of fists.
"We winners!" everyone shouted except Pazmar, due to the fact that he had no voice.
A little while later…
Tails was inside the plane with an open cockpit while Sonic sat on the plane outside. Turning on the plane and finishing the preparations, Tails told the blue hedgehog about his discovery:
"When I was flying here, I discovered Eggman's tower, which is located in the middle of the ocean. We can fly there to contact the rest of our world. I think they are worried about us."
"I agree with you completely, buddy!" Sonic agreed and gave him a thumbs up, while blinking his right eye.
Tails blinked his eye in response before he spoke loudly.
"Ready?"
"Ready from the beginning!" Sonic replied, climbing into the cockpit.
"Hold on, we're on our way!" announced the little fox and closed the cabin.
Soon the plane began to move before it turned in the right direction and flew straight into the sky. This was observed by Rollera and Pazmar, who were standing nearby.
It is noticeable that Rollera did not have a helmet, but only a fully human face, which indicates to us that Rollera is not a reploid, but a human. She had bronze-brown skin, chocolate-colored bangs that were pointing upwards, and light brown eyes.
"Well, Pazmar?" she asked, turning to the wolf reploid. "Shall we go for milkshakes?"
Pazmar smiled and nodded his head in response.
"Fine! Rollera said. "Then what are we waiting for? Let's go!"
Both heroes left this place to go for their favorite drinks. In the end, they again saved another day for New York, as they always did.
With Sonic and Tails...
In the cockpit, a blue hedgehog and a little fox told each other their adventures.
Sonic talked about how he met with Mega Man X, Zero, Doctors Doppler and Cain, fought with two maverick bosses and got one emerald (he showed the white emerald to the fox), but added that he lost the yellow emerald during the battle with the maverick in the mine.
Tails, in turn, revealed that he met Marty and her pirate crew when he was flying over the sea and with Zero when he visited the weapons factory. The little fox also said that he found another emerald on a rock in the sea, and that at the factory he noticed that half of the documents on the computer had been deleted. Tails expressed his suspicions and concerns about this? and that Dr. Doppler was planning something. Sonic, after listening to his friend, began to think about it.
But then the little fox mentioned the absurd password he using to enter the factory, and both friends laughed at that. But the laughter stopped as soon as Tails told what Marty had told him when he was on her ship... About Sigma.

Why doesn't the plot of this chapter take place based on chapter 5 of the Mega Man X3 manga, you ask? Firstly, I thought that it would be "boring" and uninteresting not only for you, but also for me. Secondly, in addition to adventures with X and Zero, I wanted Sonic and Tails to visit other places in this world, thus revealing the world of Mega Man X3.
For those who don't know, the entire plot of the fanfiction will focus more on the adventures of the blue hedgehog and the little fox in the world of Mega Man X than on their adventure with X and Zero and the fights against the maverick bosses (by the way, this is evidenced by the title of the fanfic).
Forgive me for peeling this chapter late, like the other two chapters of Sonic Realization 2. I finished chapter 9, which was big in size, so I have to put it all on hold.
