Valentine's Day was one day Mila never thought she would get to celebrate with anyone outside her family. That is… until she met Tech, the one man who didn't use her for her brain… because he already had a big one of his own.

Mila remembered how impressed she was when she first met Tech, seeing him use such advanced technology, at least more advanced than where she was from, and seeing how he was so gifted, that caught her attention. But it wasn't just his tech-savvy skills she was attracted to. Tech had a lot on his mind, and didn't seem hesitant to speak it.

Mila also found that while Tech was booksmart and tech-smart, he wasn't the best at flirting. But, she didn't have a problem tutoring him in the art of romance. Something about him told her they had chemistry just waiting to be experimented with. And she thought Tech's glasses definitely brought out his eyes.

Tech, on the other hand, never gave romance even a first thought. Being a clone created for an army, he focused only on the missions he and his brothers took. His best friend was his tablet, he spent all his time working with technology and data, and when he looked at women, he usually just looked back at his tablet and didn't give her a second glance. To be fair, he wasn't the most social, and he did that mainly with strangers. But then, he met Mila.

At first, he didn't think much of her, but when she showed interest in the things he did, something felt… different. When he was with her, he felt like he could open up more easily, and like his social skills improved whenever he spent time with her. She was a great listener, she was very smart and understood him in more ways than one, and whenever he looked into her eyes… it was impossible to look away from the beautiful hazel jewels that were her eyes.

Then one day, with a little help from some friends, Tech got the courage to ask Mila out on a date. A simple picnic, just the two of them, in a lovely garden in the old Jedi Temple, and some time after that, they had their first kiss. Then one date turned into another, and simple pecks on the lips turned into hot makeout sessions that once they started, it was hard to get them out of it.

But this Valentine's Day, Tech took Mila on a much fancier date than she was used to. She thought somehow she probably should've anticipated it, but she was overcome with surprise and ecstasy when she and Tech danced to a romantic song, which ended with Tech getting down on one knee and said, "Will you marry me?"

Now, Mila stood happily with Tech, admiring that gold band with a diamond marigold wrapped around her finger. Her engagement ring. It was so beautiful; Mila never thought she'd see the day she would wear it. And knowing how hard Tech worked to make it perfect, special, just for her, that made it all the more wonderful. But it wasn't the precious metal or the diamond that she loved about it; it was that it came from Tech's heart.

Mila and Tech celebrated their engagement with a lot of kissing when they got home from their date. But of course, they had to stop, as reluctant as they were, to get to the first step in getting married: announcing the engagement.

Tech's friends and family were all so happy for them when they announced their engagement.

"I told you he would do it," said Boba playfully punched Wrecker. "Now you gotta clean my room for a month."

Wrecker groaned as he lost the bet he made with Boba.

"Congratulations, Tech." Hunter said, holding Tech's shoulder. "We're all very happy for you."

"Are you guys gonna have kids?" Wrecker asked, eager to be an uncle.

Tech seemed to choke on air when Wrecker asked that.

"Don't let my papa hear you say that, Wrecker." Mila said. "I already worry enough how he'll react when we tell my familia the news."

So, Mila hid her engagement ring for the time being when she returned home, and when the family gathered for breakfast the next morning, Mila stood up so everyone gave her their undivided attention.

"Everyone, I have an important announcement to make." Mila said.

"Another invention?" Camilo said.

"Not this time. As some of you may know, I actually went on a date with Tech last night. It went really well, and it was wonderful. He took me to this fancy restaurant where we danced, and he had a really special big finish where…. He got down on one knee and…."

The family all started to get filled with anticipation, whereas Bruno looked like he was about to have a heart attack as they all had a hypothesis of what Mila was about to tell them.

It was then that with a big smile on her face, Mila lifted up her hand to show her engagement ring and said, "Tech asked me to marry him!"

The family all cheered with "Felicidades!" for Mila. All except for Bruno, who fainted. Mila was only nineteen and she was already engaged to be married!

"Mila, tell me you are joking. You're still a teenager!" Bruno said in a panic.

"I'm nineteen, Papa. I can make my own decision."

"I know you're nineteen, Milagro, but have you given any thought to this?"

"Yes, Papa. Believe it or not, I thought long and hard about it, and like it or not, I'm engaged. Tech and I love each other and we're going to be married. And I want the whole family to be part of the wedding, but I need your full support."

Mirabel hugged her cousin.

"You have all our support, Prima." smiled the younger cousin. "You've supported me all our lives, and you're always using your smarts to help all of us. This time, it's our turn to help you make the most special day of your entire life as wonderful as it can be."

Bruno had a hard time accepting it though. So, naturally, he had Mila bring Tech over so he could have a little talk with him.

Tech sat at a table across from Bruno, the latter looking more firm than he typically did, which Tech didn't appear fazed by at first.

"So… Tech, is it? You proposed to my daughter, so I hear." Bruno said.

"Yes, that is true. She has the engagement ring to prove I asked her to become my wife and that she accepted."

Bruno wouldn't admit it, but he had to give Tech credit for not cracking under the pressure he was already placing on him. He'd had talks with Mila before that Tech wasn't going to stop her from being with her family, but he still didn't fully trust Tech; the last thing he wanted was for anyone to take advantage of his daughter…. again.

"What exactly are your plans with my Milagro?" Bruno asked.

"At the moment, we spoke of having another date at a local park where Mila says she enjoys feeding the ducks, which fits since around the time of year on Naboo, there are many ducklings and-"

"That's not what I meant! I mean plans with her becoming your bride…. If that's your true intention."

"Why would I ask her to marry me if that was not my intention?" Tech didn't seem to understand at first what Bruno was saying.

Bruno was probably going to yell at him, but then he remembered Mila said Tech was neurodivergent and didn't always understand certain social cues, so he had to be really patient with him, but also just treat him as he would anyone else. And not wanting to upset Mila or end up hurting Tech's feelings.

"What I mean is what do you intend to do with Mila after you get married?"

"We are still discussing many important matters regarding our marriage, such as where we will live, and how many children we wish to have."

Bruno got worried at that first bit.

"You're saying you might not live here?" Bruno gasped. "What's wrong with Casita?"

"Nothing is wrong with it. It is a lovely house, however, given Mila's independence and the fact that we have begun our own successful line of work where I am from, we believe we would do well to find our own place to raise a family. However, we would still bring the children and ourselves to visit you and your family if that is what you are concerned about."

"Tech, I want you to listen to me very carefully. Mila is my miracle baby. My wife and I spent years trying to have a baby, and we were very blessed when we had our Milagro. She means everything to me, and so do my other two children. And just because I have two other children does not mean I take Mila's safety and future lightly. If you marry her, you need to take care of her, make her happy, and I don't need to use my gift to know that if you break her heart, Luisa will be the least terrifying member of this family to come after you."

Tech was no stranger to threats, but for some reason, when it came to dealing with the father of his bride-to-be, something inside him said this was a lot scarier than even facing Separatists and battle droids. But, if he wanted his wedding to go well, he had to get on Bruno's good side.

Tech thought long and hard about what he would say next, and he spoke.

"I am aware that you have concerns and that you want what is best for Mila. I want that for her as well. She means a lot to me, and she is the one and only girl to ever make me feel the way I do about her. Ever since I was small, I knew I was different, not only because I process moments and thoughts differently even if I were not a clone. However, when I am with Mila, somehow, I am able to learn to fit in a little better. Although I will always be a little different, it is because of your daughter that I am able to improve upon my social abilities, and I feel more motivated to become a better version of me. Whatever she needs in the future, I will fight to ensure she has it, and if she wants to have many children, I hope I can provide her with that. I love Mila, and I will fight for her. But if I must get your approval to become her husband, then I will do all I must to earn that."

Bruno had to admit, if he wasn't impressed before, he was definitely impressed now. No man Mila had ever brought home before ever said anything so bold, so deep before.

Bruno had never seen any man make Mila as happy as Tech made her. He knew his daughter was beautiful and had so much to offer, but he never thought any man would be worthy of such a treasure. It wasn't that he didn't want his daughter to be happy and someday meet a man who would take care of her; he didn't need Mila's brain to know he wasn't going to be around forever, and he wanted to be sure that Mila would be with someone who would love her and care for her the way she deserved to be, and the same went for his twins as well.

"You are a brave man, Tech. Definitely out of this world, literally and figuratively." Bruno said. "I've never seen Mila this happy with anyone. And, knowing the way you helped my Rosella when she was having trouble in school… I think your future bebés will be very lucky to have you as a father."

"Does this mean I have your blessing to marry Mila?" Tech asked.

Bruno thought; he didn't want to admit it, but Mila and Tech weren't getting any younger, and they wanted everyone in the family to be part of their special day. So, he said, "Yes. You have my blessing to marry my Milagro."

"You won't be disappointed, Mr. Madrigal." Tech thanked his future father-in-law.

"Bruno."

Mila was glad to hear that her father gave his blessing to hers and Tech's marriage. Now, she and Tech only had one more thing to do: start wedding planning
