(Scenes from Legends of Tomorrow Season 4, Episode 11)

Two more hearts are breaking tonight. Soon after Dr. Heywood has left the Waverider, his father is found dead in Director Sharpe's office. Most of the Legends attend the funeral in 2019 Washington D.C. a week later in support of their friend. It is common knowledge that Miss Darhk was present at the time of Mr. Heywood's death. She's once again a prime suspect on the lam. Dr. Palmer feels the most responsible as he gave her a second chance. He shouldn't blame himself. Just the same, I do not believe she did it either.

Charlie and Miss Wu stay behind for personal reasons. The latter is having a salad in the Galley, though she isn't eating. The shapeshifter tempts her with a rare-cooked steak. She reminds her that she's a vegetarian, although Kaupes are, as Charlie points out, carnivorous. The former recognizes she's being urged to shift into her Kaupe form, which she nicknames "Wolfie". Charlie believes Konane would want the lovelorn Miss Wu to embrace her "wild side". The new Kaupe disagrees, saying he'd always liked her as her old self. Charlie notices the words on Miss Wu's shirt fading. "These are the names of my favorite Jane Austen characters," she states.

I deduce, "It appears that you're experiencing the impact of a magical fugitive." Miss Wu requests me to contact Captain Lance at once.

"This better be good, Mona."

"A fugitive got to Jane Austen. She never wrote 'Sense and Sensibility', and 'Pride and Prejudice' disappeared too."

"Whatever it is, it's gonna have to wait." The irony is that the captain, Dr. Palmer, and Miss Tomaz are brought back shortly afterwards. They reconvene in the bridge, where Charlie and Miss Wu are waiting for them. The Fugitive is located at a wedding attended by Jane Austen in Bath, England, 1802. Miss Wu already has me plotting a course. She politely requests to assist on this mission. Captain Lance allows it just because. Dr. Palmer opts to "QB from [his] bedroom." Once he exits the bridge, he portals to an undisclosed location.

"Is he acting weirder than normal," the captain questions. Charlie, Miss Tomaz, and Miss Wu voice their agreement. The latter begins sniffing the disturbed hacker.

She comments, "Speaking of weird..."

"I think my sense of smell has improved because of Wolfie," Miss Wu infers. "And you smell exactly like... Nate." This detail interests Captain Lance and Charlie. A flushing Miss Tomaz tries to deny it. "It's definitely Nate. Nate and something else." She takes a deep whiff. "Arousal?" I am broadly smiling.

"No, I don't... I don't like Nate. That would be wrong and—"

The captain leans on the console. "He likes you," she smirks as she rests her head on his fist. "He confessed it when he swallowed the truth bug." That changes everything.

"We're so not passing the Bechdel test right now."

"It's okay to talk about guys sometimes."

"Come on," Charlie presumes. "I bet it's months since you got laid." The computer specialist gazes disdainfully at her. "Now, why don't you just go smash Nate?"

"Or better yet, you should go smash somebody else because if you're still thinking about Nate, then you know you're really into him." It's why Captain Lance did it with Mr. Constantine in the '60s.

"Why don't you talk to Nate," Miss Wu suggests. "Tell him how you feel." She has given a good piece of advice, and everyone calls her ditzy.

The captain and the shapeshifter dislike the chaste insight. "That is a terrible idea." Miss Tomaz, not liking the attention, dismisses their unsolicited help. I fabricate costumes for the foursome. They disembark upon landing at our destination.

Dr. Palmer portals back to the ship, but he isn't alone. Miss Darhk is close behind him. She worries she'll get him in trouble with the other Legends. The astrophysicist doesn't mind; besides, no one knows she's here except me. Not that it matters to them. Miss Darhk reveals that the demon Neron is the one who killed Mr. Heywood. While it is bad Dr. Heywood's father died, Dr. Palmer is relieved that she is innocent after all. He offers her to stay here until Mr. Constantine can find evidence to prove it. Miss Darhk is surprised that he's willing to let her be here. He concedes that it'd be "nice" if she did. A moment between the two is interrupted by Charlie. "Oy, Rayge. Where are you?" He promptly hides her in his quarters. The shapeshifter spots him scurrying from there. "What are you hiding in there?"

"Hmm? What? Nothing."

"Ah, buffing the old bishop, was we," she boldly quizzes. "It's all right, mate. No judgment here. Come on." She updates him on the mission as they head to the parlour. They ask me for any connections involving the situation. It seems that the wedding in Bath is the second one to have a "lust outbreak" in 1802. Why are humans so bent on sexual intercourse? These epidemics have provided the sexual revolution with a head start by 200 years. Miss Wu proposes talking with Miss Jane Austen to see if she knows anything that can lead the Legends to the fugitive. Charlie counters this; the servants often have the "real dirt". Somehow, I can relate to that. Captain Lance cheekily implies a "handsome coachman" may fit the bill. A peeved Miss Tomaz volunteers to see him. I hope she does not reconsider taking either Charlie's or the captain's advice.

It turns out the alluring coachman is the Fugitive. He is called Kamadeva; Miss Wu recognizes him as the namesake for the Kama Sutra. Go figure. Miss Tomaz has masterfully seized him, and he's currently in the brig. He touches the barrier with his fingertips. "Well, your days of ruining Regency-era marriages are over, Kamadeva," Captain Lance expresses.

"I only sought to grant people the courage to follow their hearts' desire." The debonair Fugitive eyes at the hacker.

"Oh, I think he likes you," Charlie observes, bumping Miss Tomaz's shoulder.

"Gideon, get us out of here," the computer specialist demands. Right away. Wait, something's not right. Miss Wu arrives in the lab. She lets them know they can't leave immediately. The last name on her Jane Austen shirt, Emma, vanishes in sight of everyone.

"Miss Wu is correct," I verify. "The historical records still indicate that Jane Austen's career is in jeopardy."

"We caught the fugitive," Miss Tomaz impatiently opines. "What's the problem?"

"Well, it's too late to knock on Jane Austen's door tonight," the captain decides. "We'll talk to her tomorrow."

Kamadeva appears quite encouraged. He looks in Miss Tomaz's direction. "So, I'm to spend the night..."

"Alone," she purports before she exits without looking back. Charlie ogles at him, muttering that the former is wasting a good opportunity. Captain Lance drags her and an enchanted Miss Wu out of the lab.

"Surely I can have a bed." Charlie blows him a two-finger kiss before the doors close.

Miss Darhk is toying with Dr. Palmer's figurines. She tries to fix one after it tips over. The astrophysicist enters with a brand-new nightgown he asked me to fabricate. She gracefully receives it and stands behind a lamp to change. Dr. Palmer turns around, so he doesn't look. He offers her his bed since she is his guest. She notes that it's big enough for them to share. Fully clothed, she tells him he can look now. He turns and softly gazes at her. The milky colored nightdress is modestly designed with an overcoat. The two lie stiff in bed together like boards. Miss Darhk's hand slowly reaches for Dr. Palmer's. He jumps up, insisting that the gentlemanly thing to do is for him to sleep in the armchair. He scrunches up then extends himself and falls asleep, much to her disappointment.

Kamadeva has a puckish streak to him. Not long after everyone is out of plain sight, he blows his magical dust into the air vent. It travels throughout the Waverider. The first to be affected are, dare I say, a couple. Miss Darhk and a bare-chested Dr. Palmer indulge their mutual attraction in his bed. His request for her consent is admirable. Next is the dozy captain, who singularly mumbles the focus of her desires: "Ava". Her birthday surprise is reimagined; this time, Mr. Heywood doesn't interrupt them. Miss Wu (as Wolfie) and Konane nuzzle all over each other. Someone is rocking Charlie's world. Miss Tomaz canoodles with the Fugitive, while Dr. Heywood smothers her with kisses from behind. As the two handsome men ravish her, she quickly cognizes the fervent threesome as an incurring dream. Encroaching on these torrid fantasies has me strangely piqued.

Awakened from her erotic dream, Miss Tomaz joins Captain Lance, Charlie, and Miss Wu in the Galley. They are each drinking a tall glass of iced water. "The Fugitive get to you," the captain inquires the hacker.

"Yeah," she abashedly responds.

"Well, personally, I really enjoyed my night blowing David Bowie's mind," Charlie mentions. "Who'd you get a leg over, Z? Wait, let me guess. Nate? No, Kamadeva." Her face says it all.

"Both," an intrigued Captain Lance asks.

"It was both! Blimey, Z, I didn't know you had it in you." The shapeshifter enthusiastically slaps the hacker in the back. She turns to a wistfully quiet Miss Wu. "What about you, Wolfie?"

The captain is perceptive to her pining. "You dreamt about Konane." She walks away from them. "Mona..."

"I'll get it," Miss Tomaz affirms. She sits across from a sobbing Miss Wu at the dining table. "Hey, hey. It's okay."

"He had the sweetest eyes," the latter cries. "When he would look at me, the whole world would disappear. And now, he's dead."

The former slightly nods, asserting, "Mona, I know it's hard, but try to have some perspective. You didn't know him for very long."

The harsh reality offends the young daydreamer. "So, you think I'm a fool too?"

"No, I just don't think anyone should give their heart away without thinking about the consequences."

"But romance is taking a chance on someone without knowing how it's gonna end up!"

Miss Tomaz cynically states, "Romance is something used to sell novels. It's not real."

"Well, it'll never be real for you," Miss Wu snaps while standing over her. "Not if you never try. Not if you never take a risk!"

Miss Tomaz contemptuously stares her down. "You know, it's hard to take advice from someone whose boyfriend turned her into a werewolf." That almost provokes Miss Wu to wolf out.

"Hey, guys," Captain Lance utters. "Let's just take a breath."

"You're right," Miss Wu fumes to Miss Tomaz. "I might be stupid for being a romantic, but it's not Konane's fault." With that, she transforms into Wolfie, much to Miss Tomaz's consternation.

"Bloody hell," an excited Charlie proclaims. "Finally! You look wicked, mate!" What's not "wicked" is Wolfie instantly flinging her over the counter. She then storms off.

"Mona, wait," the captain yells prior to bringing the unconscious shapeshifter to the medbay. Miss Tomaz confronts Kamadeva sitting in the brig. "You shouldn't mess with people's dreams," she scolds.

He chuckles, "My powers don't create passion out of thin air. Whomever you dreamt about, you truly desire."

She circles around the imprisoned charmer. "It doesn't mean I have to act on it. It's called impulse control."

"You sound like a woman who has never let herself fall in love."

She stops in her tracks, confessing, "Where I'm from, love is a liability." Her discretion is excusable. On the other hand, it must be splendid to find such companionship.

"And yet a life without love is no life at all."

The skeptical programmer faces directly at him. "Tell me, what does a deity know about the human heart?"

Kamadeva pensively stands to his feet and yanks off a vial he wears around his neck. His human name was Sunjay, and he was born thousands of years ago. When Shiva immolated the actual Kamadeva, he stored his ashes into the vial. It bestowed powers that he "could have scarcely imagined". He smirks when Miss Tomaz asks him why he's telling his backstory to her. "Because I like you. And I think you secretly yearn to be impulsive and free... unless you lack the courage."

She deactivates the brig and takes him on his dare. She distrustfully convinces him to join her, citing his exact words. They consume the ashes at the same time. The effects kick in, and they run off to Bath like a pair of clandestine lovers. I listen in on her laughing and proposing marriage to the Fugitive. Marriage? Suddenly, she begins singing her deepest emotions.

Dr. Palmer is about to eat fruit crepes as a nighttime snack when he hears the music. "Gideon, where's that music coming from?"

"I've taken the liberty of broadcasting Miss Tomaz's comms."

"It's rather infectious." I concur. Miss Darhk comes into the Galley. Her shoulders are moving to the rhythm. She accurately surmises the effects as magical. He intends on articulating his thoughts in verse. He does so, which she reciprocates. She queries why he was reluctant to take the initiative. He discloses he would have if she was more flirtatious. In addition, it has gotten complicated with Dr. Heywood. She apologetically comprehends the state of affairs; however, she can't restrain her passion anymore. Miss Darhk persuades Dr. Palmer to risk it as it may be their only chance. He succumbs willingly, voicing his pardons to his best friend and Captain Lance. They dance seductively in the Galley.

The captain has waited until Charlie recovers to search for Misses Wu and Tomaz. In relation to the latter, I continue listening to her song. The former group has reached the senseless bride. "'I do'? What are you talking about," Captain Lance queries. "We need to find Mona."

"Wait a sec," Charlie entreats, "is this a Bollywood musical number?"

"You bet your ass it is," Miss Tomaz answers. The captain and the shapeshifter are now under the ashes' influence. As much as I'm enjoying this, someone reasonable needs to get them to regain self-control. Out of the blue, I hear Miss Wu's voice. She understands how humans allow themselves to be carried away with fancies. The idealist commends the realist for being "so brave, wise, and strong for opening [her] door". Instead of settling for a present yet fleeting illusion, Miss Wu invites Miss Tomaz to "have the courage to wait for something more."

"Don't listen to her, my darling," the groom coaxes.

"No, Mona's right, Z," Captain Lance asserts. "You don't even know this guy."

"He's been using the powers of a love deity for years," Charlie adds. "Guaranteed that he's got a wife."

"Is it true," Miss Tomaz queries him.

"Not exactly. I have 1,000 wives, but lucky number 1,001 is the most important." I can imagine the look on her face when he said that.

"Seriously?"

"So, you still want to marry me?" Please say no.

It takes her a full minute to be decisive. "No, I definitely do not." Miss Tomaz sings, "Now I've got my senses back, but I'll surrender."

Miss Wu joins, "Life's not over. I'll love again. I'll surrender." They acknowledge that, with their friends by their side, they will try real love if (or when) it comes their way. The Fugitive's second arrest causes the timeline to be repaired. Jane Austen's authorship is preserved. All that's left is to retrieve Mr. Constantine and Mr. Rory from present-day Washington D.C. The overall mission has influenced the Legends. Miss Tomaz (like Elinor Dashwood) has subtly allowed her feelings for Dr. Heywood to grow. Miss Wu (like Marianne Dashwood) has redefined her outlook on love and romance. Dr. Palmer and Miss Darhk has gotten closer in his quarters. Charlie is relishing her singledom. As for Captain Lance, I'm certain that she and Director Sharpe will get back together. Anything can happen.
