Chapter 26: Game Changer
Above the clouds, far beyond the sight of any ordinary observer, Orochimaru soared through the sky. The thin air of the stratosphere barely registered to him as he pushed his newly acquired Saiyan powers to their limits. His body moved with a grace that belied the immense power he now wielded, the result of tireless training and experimentation.
Orochimaru's serpentine eyes gleamed with a dangerous light. He could feel the power coursing through his veins, his muscles rippling with every movement. He was becoming stronger, faster, more resilient with each passing day. And yet, despite all his efforts, he had not yet found the upper limit of his new abilities.
"Kukukuku," his sinister laugh echoed in the silence of the upper atmosphere. "This power... it's beyond anything I've ever imagined. And it's still growing."
He pushed himself higher, breaching the boundary of the stratosphere and entering the mesosphere. The cold, thin air was nothing more than a minor inconvenience. His adaptive abilities, enhanced by his Saiyan DNA, allowed him to withstand the extreme conditions without faltering.
Orochimaru closed his eyes, feeling the energy within him. The Saiyan cells he had grafted onto his own had merged perfectly, granting him not only their formidable strength but also their legendary adaptability. His body was continuously evolving, adapting to the stress he placed on it.
He smirked. "So this is what it means to be Son Goku. To grow stronger through every battle, to push beyond limits time and time again. With this power, nothing will stand in my way."
Higher and higher he flew, until he reached the thermosphere, where the sky was a deep, dark blue, almost black. Here, where the atmosphere thinned out into the vacuum of space, Orochimaru paused. The Earth lay far below him, a distant, curved horizon.
"This is not the limit," he murmured to himself. "I can still go higher. I can still become stronger."
His mind turned to the Dragon Balls, those mystical orbs that could grant any wish. He had learned of their existence through his spies and surveillance. He was Orochimaru, he had eyes everywhere. If he could gather all seven, he could wish for immortality. And then, he would never have to concern himself with death ever again.
"Kukukuku," his laughter echoed once more. "With immortality, I will transcend all. No longer will I be bound by the frailties of this mortal coil. I will become a god among men."
The thought of achieving his lifelong dream of immortality spurred him on. He envisioned himself, an eternal being, ruling over the world with an iron fist, free to pursue his twisted experiments without fear of death.
"But first," he mused, "I must gather the Dragon Balls. They will come for me soon. I must be ready."
Orochimaru descended slowly, his mind racing with plans. He would need to prepare for the inevitable confrontation with Goku and his allies. He, not they but he, was strong yes but not invincible. He had faced him before and survived.
This time, he would be the one to emerge victorious.
Landing back at his hidden base, he was greeted by his subordinates, who bowed deeply in his presence. Kabuto, his most loyal follower, stepped forward.
"Orochimaru-sama, everything is proceeding as planned. Our scouts have reported increased activity among the Leaf shinobi. It seems they are preparing for an assault."
Orochimaru nodded. "Let them come. They will find nothing but their doom."
Kabuto smirked. "Shall we begin the preparations for their arrival?"
"Yes," Orochimaru said, his voice dripping with malice. "Prepare everything. We will give them a welcome they will never forget."
As his subordinates scurried to carry out his orders, Orochimaru turned his gaze skyward once more. The path to immortality lay before him, and he would not be deterred. The Dragon Balls were within his reach, and with his newfound power, he would claim them all.
"Prepare yourself, Son Goku," he whispered to the wind. "You and your friends will be the next to witness my ascension."
With that, Orochimaru retreated to his inner sanctum, his mind filled with dark schemes and endless ambition. The clock was ticking, and soon, the battle for the future would begin.
Inside his laboratory, Orochimaru examined his reflection in a large mirror. His features had changed slightly since integrating the Saiyan DNA. His already pale skin had taken on a slight, almost imperceptible golden hue, and his eyes glowed with a predatory gleam. He was becoming something more than human, something greater.
He moved to a console and brought up a holographic display of the Dragon Balls. Aligning himself with the Red Ribbon Army definitely came with its benefits.
And because he was Orochimaru, he would always be the ultimate benefactor.
For whatever reason however, the Dragon Balls could not be traced whatsoever. Curses, he should have intercepted Goku's wish when the opportunity was there.
Maybe he wasn't all that confident he could actually defeat the kid?
"The Dragon Balls," Orochimaru muttered, musing the possibilities. "Once I have them, I will be unstoppable."
He turned his attention to a series of vials and syringes laid out on a nearby table. These contained various serums and compounds, results of his countless experiments. Among them was a small vial filled with a shimmering, golden liquid.
"This," he said, picking up the vial, "is the key to maintaining my vitality."
The liquid was a concentrated essence of Saiyan cells, enhanced and refined through his dark alchemy. It would push his powers even further, making him invincible. But it was not without risks. The process of integrating it into his body would be excruciatingly painful, even for him.
Orochimaru smiled, a wicked curve of his lips. "Pain is but a small price to pay for power."
He injected the serum into his arm, feeling the fiery liquid spread through his veins. His body convulsed as the serum took effect, but he welcomed the pain, reveling in the sensation of his muscles tightening, his bones strengthening, his senses sharpening. It was a transformation, a rebirth.
As the pain subsided, Orochimaru stood slightly taller, feeling the raw power coursing through him. He flexed his fingers, marveling at the strength in his grip. This was just the beginning.
"Now," he said, his voice a low growl, "I am ready."
He stepped out of his laboratory and into a grand hall where his subordinates waited. They could sense the change in him, the increased power that radiated from his very being. They bowed deeper, a mixture of fear and awe in their eyes.
Kabuto approached, a respectful distance behind. "Orochimaru-sama, the preparations are complete. Everything is in place."
Orochimaru nodded. "Excellent. Ensure that our defenses are impenetrable. The Leaf shinobi will be here soon, and we must be prepared."
Kabuto hesitated for a moment before speaking. "And what of Son Goku and his allies? They may be nothing to you, but he is still formidable."
Orochimaru's eyes flashed. "They will be dealt with. Their strength is nothing compared to mine. Even Son Goku. I will crush them and take what I need."
A vision of the Sharingan and Sasuke's body came to mind. The snake smirked viciously.
He turned his attention to the map of the Dragon Balls once more, which still signaled 'unable to locate' on the screen. "Begin the search for the Dragon Balls as soon as it is able. I want their locations confirmed and secured."
Kabuto bowed. "Yes, Orochimaru-sama. It will be done."
As his subordinates moved to carry out his orders, Orochimaru allowed himself a moment of reflection. He had come so far, from a mere shinobi obsessed with forbidden techniques to the brink of godhood. The Dragon Balls were the final piece of his puzzle, the key to his ultimate victory.
With his Saiyan powers growing every day, and his knowledge of the Dragon Balls guiding him, he felt invincible. Nothing could stand in his way.
Not Goku, not the Leaf shinobi, not the Akatsuki, not even the limits of his own mortality.
He looked out over his domain, a dark fortress hidden deep within a mountain range. It was a symbol of his power, a testament to his unyielding ambition.
Soon, the world would be reminded of his name, and they would tremble before his superiority.
"Immortality," he whispered, the word a promise and a vow. "I will achieve it. And then, I will rule over all."
Orochimaru's sinister laughter echoed through the halls, a chilling sound that sent shivers down the spines of all who heard it.
The future was his for the taking, and he would stop at nothing to claim it.
The gravity room hummed with energy as Team 8, including their sensei Kurenai, prepared for an intense training session. The walls of the room glowed with a soft, otherworldly light, reflecting the heightened gravity within. Kurenai, Kiba, Akamaru, Shino, and Hinata stood at the ready, their determination palpable. The anticipation in the air was almost tangible, each member of Team 8 fully aware of the unique opportunity this training session represented.
The gravity room was a marvel, a rare tool that could push their abilities to new heights.
Kurenai, with her striking red eyes and long, dark hair tied in a loose ponytail, wore her usual jonin attire—black and red mesh armor that highlighted her lithe, muscular frame. She was a picture of poise and authority, her presence commanding respect and focus from her students.
"All right, everyone," Kurenai began, her voice firm yet encouraging. "This gravity room is an incredible tool. We need to push ourselves harder than ever before. Hinata, I want you to lead the way." Her tone conveyed both authority and the trust she placed in Hinata, acknowledging her growth and position as the strongest in the room.
Her fight against Son Goku in the Chunin Exams was the stuff of legends. She couldn't contend with that as of right now.
Hinata nodded, her expression serious. She wore a form-fitting black mesh t-shirt, which clung to her body, allowing for maximum movement and flexibility. Her indigo hair was pulled back into a high ponytail, and her Byakugan eyes glowed faintly. "Hai, Kurenai-sensei. I'll do my best." Her heart raced with a mixture of excitement and nervousness.
Leading her team in such a challenging environment was a significant responsibility, but she was determined to rise to the occasion.
Kiba, with his feral grin and Akamaru by his side, cracked his knuckles. "Bring it on! Akamaru and I are ready for anything!" he exclaimed.
Akamaru, his loyal white-furred companion, barked in agreement, his tail wagging with enthusiasm.
Shino adjusted his glasses, his calm demeanor unchanged. "Let's make the most of this opportunity," he said, his voice as steady as ever. His insects buzzed quietly beneath his clothing, ready for action.
The gravity was set to three times the normal Earth gravity, and immediately, the increased pressure was felt by everyone. Their movements were slower, their muscles straining under the added weight. But this was exactly the challenge they needed.
Hinata, however, seemed almost unfazed. She moved with a fluid grace, her Byakugan activated as she took on her teammates.
Kurenai and the others were quick and skilled in their own right, but under the intense gravity, they found themselves struggling to keep up with Hinata's speed and precision.
Kiba lunged at her with Akamaru by his side, performing their patented Gatsuga. They spun towards her in a powerful, spiraling attack.
Hinata sidestepped effortlessly, her gentle fists striking with pinpoint accuracy. She disrupted their technique, sending Kiba sprawling, Akamaru yelping as he tried to regain his footing. "Damn, Hinata! You're amazing!" the boy exclaimed, getting back to his feet with a grin. "You've really improved."
Shino attempted to use his kikaichu to surround her, but Hinata's awareness and agility allowed her to evade and counter his moves with ease.
She created a Kage Bunshin and used the Zanzoken technique she had stolen from Goku to confuse Shino. The clone darted to the left, while Hinata herself moved to the right, subsequently striking Shino's weak points with precision and power. Her strikes were calculated to maximize efficiency, leaving Shino with no time to react.
Their sensei watched with a mixture of pride and amazement. Hinata had truly come into her own, her confidence and skill shining brightly.
She joined the fray, testing Hinata's abilities herself. But even she found herself struggling to match Hinata's relentless efficiency.
Kurenai cast a powerful genjutsu, trying to trap Hinata in an illusion of her own making. But Hinata's Byakugan pierced through the genjutsu, seeing through the illusion with ease. She moved swiftly, closing the distance between herself and Kurenai. Her attacks were a blur, her movements swift and deliberate.
She struck Kurenai's defenses, finding openings with ease. Despite the intense gravity, Hinata's stamina seemed boundless, her focus unwavering.
Kurenai was taken aback by the ferocity and precision of Hinata's attacks. Each strike was delivered with purpose, every movement calculated. Hinata's fists pummeled her, driving her back. The usually calm and composed jonin found herself on the defensive, struggling to keep up with Hinata's relentless assault.
Hinata's attacks were personal, each strike carrying the weight of her determination and years of training. She remembered every moment of doubt, every time she felt weak or inadequate. Now, she channeled all of that into her strikes, overwhelming Kurenai with her raw power and skill.
Her gentle fists landed with a force that belied their name, each blow precise and devastating.
Kurenai tried to counter, using her own taijutsu skills, but Hinata was relentless. She anticipated Kurenai's moves, using her Byakugan to see the flow of chakra and predict her sensei's actions. The younger woman's strikes disrupted Kurenai's chakra network, weakening her defenses further.
After a grueling session, Kurenai called for a break. "Well done... everyone. Hinata... you were incredible. Your training has really paid off," she said, her voice tinged with exhaustion and admiration.
Hinata blushed slightly, bowing her head. "Thank you, Kurenai-sensei. But I still have a long way to go," she replied humbly.
Kiba panted, wiping sweat from his brow. "I don't know how you do it, Hinata. You're like a machine!" he said, his admiration evident.
Shino nodded in agreement. "Your efficiency and precision are remarkable," he added, his tone respectful.
Hinata smiled softly. "Thank you, but I need to keep pushing myself. I'll train a bit longer on my own," she said, her determination unwavering.
Kurenai nodded, her eyes filled with pride. "Just don't overdo it, Hinata. We need you in top form," she advised, knowing that Hinata's drive could sometimes push her to the brink.
Hinata waited until the others had left the gravity room, then she turned the dial, increasing the gravity to seven times the normal Earth gravity. The pressure was immense, her body feeling the strain immediately.
But she welcomed the challenge.
This was her chance to prove herself, to push beyond her limits.
Without Goku around to catch her and pick her up if she fell. As cool as it was to have a protector...
At some point she wanted to protect him too.
Activating her Byakugan, Hinata began her solo training. Each movement was deliberate, every strike executed with brutal efficiency. She focused on her form, ensuring that every motion was as perfect and powerful as possible. The intense gravity pushed her to her limits, but Hinata thrived under the pressure. She moved through her kata, her strikes and blocks becoming faster and more precise with each repetition. Her mind was focused, her body adapting to the increased gravity with remarkable resilience.
Hinata's thoughts drifted back to Goku, remembering his encouragement and belief in her potential. She wanted to make him proud, to show him that she could rise to any challenge, even if he wasn't around. She could feel the strength growing within her, her determination driving her forward.
As she trained, she visualized her opponents, imagining the battles to come. She saw herself facing Orochimaru, standing strong and unyielding. She would be ready for whatever lay ahead.
The hours passed, and Hinata continued to push herself, her body screaming in protest but her spirit unwavering. She was determined to become as strong and efficient as possible, to protect her friends and her village.
Finally, exhausted but satisfied, Hinata brought her training to a close.
She deactivated the gravity room and stepped outside, the cool night air a welcome relief. She looked up at the stars, feeling a deep sense of accomplishment.
"I will get stronger," she whispered to herself. "I will protect those I care about. I won't need to be saved. And I will be ready for whatever comes."
She gon be ready for whatever, somebody better tell em.
The air inside the gravity room was thick, not just with the increased gravitational pull, but with the lingering energy and determination of its occupants. Naruto and Sakura, despite the exhausting training, still had energy to blow. They had been in the gravity room for hours, pushing themselves to the limit.
Sasuke had left earlier, having started his training before them, but Naruto and Sakura remained, determined to make the most of their time. The whirring sound of the gravity machine and the hum of their concentrated chakra filled the room.
Sweat poured down their faces as they sparred, their movements precise and powerful, each strike and block executed with perfect synchronization. Sakura's eyes gleamed with determination as she focused on the task at hand. She was on the verge of a breakthrough, and she could feel it. The intense gravitational force made every movement more difficult, pushing their bodies to adapt and grow stronger with each passing moment.
"Come on, Sakura-chan! You've got this!" Naruto encouraged, his voice filled with unwavering support and enthusiasm, even as his own muscles screamed in protest from the relentless training.
Sakura nodded, her breath coming in short gasps. "I can do this, Naruto-kun. Just a little more," she responded, her voice tinged with exhaustion but brimming with resolve. She concentrated harder, feeling the chakra flow through her, molding it with precision.
They continued to spar, and finally, under the pressure of three times gravity, Sakura completed stage three of the Rasengan. The swirling sphere of chakra formed perfectly in her hand, glowing with an intense light. It was a culmination of countless hours of practice and sheer willpower.
"I did it!" Sakura exclaimed, her voice filled with triumph and exhilaration. "I finally did it!" Her eyes sparkled with the satisfaction of having achieved something monumental.
Naruto's face lit up with pride and excitement. "That's amazing, Sakura-chan! Let's test it out!" he suggested, eager to see the results of their hard work.
They both prepared their Rasengans, the air crackling with energy as their chakras combined in an electrifying display. With a determined nod, they charged at each other, their Rasengans clashing in a brilliant explosion of chakra. The force of the collision blew them both backward, but they landed on their feet, relatively unharmed, thanks to their enhanced durability from the intense training.
Sakura and Naruto stared at each other for a moment, stunned by the sheer power of their combined attack. Then, as the realization sank in, they broke into wide grins, their faces flushed with excitement and achievement.
"We did it!" Naruto shouted, running towards Sakura with uncontained joy. "You did it, Sakura-chan!"
He scooped her up and twirled her around the room, both of them laughing with joy. Sakura kept her arms around Naruto's neck, her face flushed with happiness and exertion. They both looked at each other with a sense of accomplishment and pride, their bond growing even stronger through shared success.
Naruto shut off the gravity room with one hand, still holding Sakura with the other.
"Let's call it a night, Sakura-chan. We've earned it," he said, his voice gentle but firm.
Sakura nodded, a content smile on her face. "Yeah, we have," she agreed, feeling a deep sense of satisfaction.
Naruto carried her out of the gravity room, his steps light despite the intense training they had just completed. The night air was cool and refreshing as they made their way to a quiet spot outside, the stars twinkling above them like diamonds scattered across the sky.
They lay down on the grass, gazing up at the sky. For a moment, they were lost in the beauty of the night, their thoughts turning to the oncoming mission to kill Orochimaru.
"It's gonna be tough," Naruto said softly, his eyes reflecting the stars above. "But he won't know what hit him," he added, his voice filled with determination.
Sakura nodded, her head resting on his shoulder. "Exactly. He's gonna pay for what he's done," she agreed, her voice steady and filled with conviction.
They fell into a comfortable silence, the weight of their upcoming mission heavy but bearable. As they lay there, side by side, the bond between them grew stronger. They had faced numerous challenges together, and this was just another one they would overcome.
Naruto turned his head to look at Sakura, his heart swelling with affection and admiration.
"Sakura-chan… I'm really proud of you," he said, his voice tender and sincere.
Sakura smiled, her eyes shimmering with emotion. "Thank you, Naruto-kun. I'm proud of you too," she replied, her voice filled with warmth.
Their faces were close, the night air filled with a sense of anticipation. Slowly, they leaned in, their eyes closing as they moved closer to each other. Just as their lips were about to meet, Sakura hesitated. At the last moment, she turned her head slightly, her lips brushing against Naruto's cheek in a sweet, gentle kiss.
Naruto blinked in surprise, then smiled softly. "Sakura-chan…"
Sakura blushed, but there was a sparkle in her eyes. "Ne, Naruto-kun," she giggled, her voice soft and affectionate.
They laid back down, their hands intertwined as they continued to gaze up at the stars. The night was peaceful, the world quiet around them.
After a few more minutes of peaceful stargazing, they decided it was time to head home. Naruto stood up first, offering his hand to Sakura to help her up. She took it, and together they walked back through the quiet streets of Konoha, the cool night air refreshing against their skin.
The village was surprisingly serene, the houses and shops dark as everyone had settled in for the night. They reached Sakura's home first. She paused at her door, turning to Naruto with a gentle smile. "Thank you for tonight, Naruto-kun. It was… perfect as usual," she said, her voice filled with gratitude.
Naruto smiled back, his eyes reflecting the same sentiment. "Anytime, Sakura-chan. Sleep well, and we'll continue our training tomorrow," he replied, his voice filled with determination and warmth.
Sakura nodded, giving his hand a final squeeze before stepping inside. "Good night, Naruto-kun," she said, her voice lingering in the cool night air.
Naruto watched her go, feeling a sense of fulfillment. He turned and made his way to his own home, the events of the day replaying in his mind. As he reached his door, he paused for a moment, looking up at the star-filled sky, as if searching for his parents in the heavens...
Whoever they were.
The night sky over Konoha was calm and tranquil, with the moon casting a gentle glow over the entire village, illuminating the rooftops and streets with its silvery light. It had been nine days since Goku had left the gravity room capsule with Team 7, and their intense training had continued without any pause, break, or respite. Tonight, however, a new and unexpected challenge would test the fruits of a particular boy's labor.
Sasuke was walking home, his mind lost in thought about the day's grueling training. The sessions in the gravity room had been exceptionally rigorous, pushing him to his physical and mental limits, but he could feel the strength building within him, a strength that brought him inches closer to his goal of avenging his clan and surpassing his brother, Itachi.
His body was changing as a result of the intense training; his muscles were becoming more defined, showcasing the growing power within him. His once short hair was now elongating, framing his face in a way that accentuated his determined eyes. He wore his usual black shirt with the high collar, its dark fabric clinging to his developing musculature, emphasizing the transformation he was undergoing.
Each step he took was filled with purpose, his mind racing with thoughts of how much stronger he was becoming.
As he neared the Uchiha compound, Sasuke detected a presence behind him and stopped, turning slowly to face whatever threat awaited him.
The Sound Four stood before him, their eyes gleaming with intent and malice. They were a formidable group, each member possessing unique and deadly abilities that made them dangerous adversaries. Jirobo, the largest of the group, had a muscular build and a brutish demeanor, his strength capable of crushing boulders with ease. He wore the standard Sound Village attire, with bandages wrapped around his arms and legs. Sakon and Ukon, the twin brothers, had a more sinister appearance, their pale skin and red markings giving them a ghastly look. They shared a single body, with Sakon usually in control, their conjoined nature adding to their eerie presence. Kidomaru, with his six arms and spider-like abilities, had an unsettling grin and a confident posture, his hair tied back in a ponytail. Tayuya, the only female member, had long red hair and a defiant expression, her attire decorated with a variety of musical notes, emphasizing her use of sound-based genjutsu through her flute.
The sight of the Sound Four together was intimidating, and their presence was a clear indication of their sinister intentions.
"Uchiha Sasuke," Tayuya began, her voice dripping with malice and a hint of condescension, "Orochimaru-sama has extended an invitation for you to join him. With his power, you can finally surpass your brother, Itachi. Imagine the strength you could gain under his tutelage."
Her words were laced with temptation, promising the power and revenge Sasuke had long sought.
Sasuke's eyes narrowed, but he remained silent, listening to their arguments. They spoke of power, revenge, and the ability to crush those who stood in his way.
For a moment, the temptation was strong, the promise of immediate power almost irresistible.
But then, the words of Haku echoed in his mind once more: "You don't need anyone but your loved ones to be strong, Sasuke-kun."
The memory of Haku's unwavering belief in him strengthened his resolve, reminding him of the bonds he had formed and the strength they provided.
After a lengthy period of contemplation, Sasuke stood firm, his decision made.
"No," he said firmly, his voice carrying a steely resolve. "I will become stronger my own way. I don't need Orochimaru's power. My strength will come from within and from the bonds I cherish," he declared, his conviction unwavering.
Jirobo growled in frustration. "You'll regret this, Uchiha."
The Sound Four launched themselves at Sasuke, prepared to force him into submission. Their movements were swift and coordinated, showcasing their deadly skills and teamwork.
Sasuke braced for a difficult fight, but as the battle commenced, he was surprised to find himself effortlessly outmatching them. The gravity room training with Naruto had pushed him to new heights. He moved with blistering speed, his Sharingan eyes gleaming red as they tracked every movement of his enemies. His training was paying off, and he was now significantly stronger and faster than ever before.
Clutching his right wrist his lefthand, Sasuke muttered one word. "Chidori." And then he moved like a lightning bolt.
In a swift motion, he punched the Chidori through Jirobo's face, killing him instantly and frying his nervous system. The electricity crackled ominously, the light illuminating the night.
Sakon and Ukon tried to counter, but they were helpless against Sasuke's speed and precision. Appearing dozens of feet above them, the Uchiha performed a sequence of hand-seals before gathering lightning chakra into both of his palms.
"Raiton: Raimei!"
DOOOOOOOMMM!
Before the two-in-one Oto-nin could react, they were clapped by the roaring thunder. Sasuke dispatched them with lethal efficiency, their bodies collapsing in lifeless heaps, their combined abilities no match for his advanced techniques.
Each move he made was precise and deadly, showcasing his enhanced skills.
Kidomaru, sensing danger, attempted to retreat and find a vantage point for his Spider War Bow. But Sasuke, his Sharingan keenly tracking his movements, located him with ease.
And then they locked eyes.
A cruel genjutsu paralyzed Kidomaru, leaving him vulnerable. Sasuke performed his patented Raiton: Shunshin to appear on the roof where Kidomaru had hidden, charging up another Chidori. The electrical energy crackled ominously as he plunged it into Kidomaru's heart, ending his life in a burst of electric power. The scent of ozone filled the air as Kidomaru's lifeless body fell.
The sound of a flute suddenly pierced the air. Tayuya's genjutsu engulfed Sasuke, causing his vision to blur and his movements to slow. She prepared to strike, but before she could deliver the blow, a shard of ice lodged itself into her back, impaling her. She gasped in pain, dropping her flute as her body fell to the ground, her life almost extinguished.
Haku emerged from the shadows, her mask reflecting the moonlight. Her Anbu attire was sleek and dark, designed for stealth and efficiency. Her mask, white with intricate red markings, concealed her identity and added an air of mystery.
Not taking any chances, she shot two senbon, piercing Tayuya's neck and killing her instantly with precision. Her movements were swift and calculated, ensuring that there were no loose ends.
Haku approached the fallen Sound Four, her movements swift and efficient, like a shadow in the night. She decapitated all four of their heads and then sealed them into a scroll. "Burn the bodies with a Katon jutsu," she instructed calmly, her voice steady and composed.
Sasuke nodded, forming the necessary hand seals. "Katon: Gōkakyū no Jutsu!"
A massive fireball erupted from his mouth, consuming the remains of the Sound Four and turning them to ash, the intense heat ensuring that nothing was left behind. The flames roared and crackled, lighting up the night sky.
As the flames died down, Haku declined to remove her mask, concealing a rare smile. "I told you, Sasuke-kun. You don't need anyone but your loved ones to be strong," she reiterated, her practically hidden brown eyes filled with warmth and pride.
For the first time in a long while, Sasuke allowed himself to feel a sense of pride. "Thank you, Haku. I couldn't have done this without you," he admitted, his voice sincere and grateful.
Haku's eyes softened. "You've grown stronger, Sasuke-kun. Believe in yourself and the bonds you've formed," she encouraged, her voice gentle and reassuring.
Sasuke nodded, feeling the weight of his journey and the importance of his bonds. "I'll see you soon," he said, his voice filled with gratitude and determination.
Haku, maintaining her professionalism, nodded and slipped back into the shadows. "Until then, Sasuke-kun."
With that, she disappeared into the night, leaving Sasuke to reflect on his victory and the strength he had gained through his training and the support of his friends. Her presence was a reminder of the bonds he had formed and the strength they provided.
She constantly helped him get stronger. He didn't deserve her loyalty.
As the night drew to a close, Sasuke stood alone in silence, gazing at the stars.
The day of the Chunin promotion ceremony was clear and bright, a fitting backdrop for the momentous occasion.
Tsunade, the Godaime Hokage, stood at the front of the room, flanked by her advisors. The select few genin invited to this ceremony were filled with anticipation and curiosity. Among them were Shikamaru, Naruto, Sasuke, and Hinata, who stood at attention, awaiting their fates.
Each of them had slightly longer hair, showing the passage of time and the experiences they had endured.
Tsunade began, her voice strong and authoritative. "Today, we recognize the achievements and potential of four remarkable genin. Each of you has demonstrated extraordinary skill and dedication, earning your place as chunin of Konoha."
She turned to Shikamaru first. "Nara Shikamaru, you are promoted to chunin for your exceptional tactical approach during the exams. Your strategic defeat of Sabaku no Temari showcased your intelligence and resourcefulness. You possess the qualities of a leader, and we believe you will continue to excel in your duties."
Shikamaru stepped forward, accepting the green vest with a nonchalant nod. "Troublesome," he muttered, but there was a flicker of pride in his eyes as he slipped on the vest, his hair tied up in its usual ponytail.
Next, Tsunade addressed Naruto. "Uzumaki Naruto, your feats during the exams were nothing short of extraordinary. Defeating Sabaku no Gaara and your performance against Uchiha Sasuke demonstrated your strength, resilience, and unwavering spirit. Your determination is an inspiration to us all."
Naruto grinned widely, accepting his vest with enthusiasm. He wore a black shirt with the Uzumaki swirl on the back, his usual orange pants, black sandals, and orange bandages wrapped around his right arm.
"Believe it! I'll keep working hard, Dattebayo!" he declared, his blue eyes shining with excitement.
Tsunade's gaze then fell on Sasuke. "Uchiha Sasuke, your raw talent and ability have impressed us. You defeated Hyuga Neji while avoiding your tenketsu being disabled and then went on to face two jinchuriki back-to-back. Your skills and resolve are undeniable."
With the powers that be, the term jinchuriki did not hold the same weight as it once did. Tsunade had no qualms with informing anyone who was not already privy to such information. Luckily for her, nobody commented or quipped with a question, implying that this was not groundbreaking news to them.
Sasuke took the vest, his expression serious. "Thank you. I won't let you down," he said, his dark eyes reflecting a determined resolve.
Finally, Tsunade turned to Hinata. "Hyuga Hinata, your level of power and ability to exploit your opponents weaknesses were evident in your deceiving victory over Son Goku during the final exam. Your versatility and willingness to do what needs to be done have earned you this promotion."
Hinata stepped forward, her cheeks tinged with a slight blush as she accepted the vest. Her appreciably longer than shoulder length hair was pulled back into a ponytail, and she wore a grey jacket with a tight black mesh undershirt.
"Thank you, Hokage-sama. I will continue to strive for excellence," she said softly, her eyes reflecting her newfound confidence.
The four new chunin stood proudly, their green vests symbolizing their new status. They swore their loyalty to Konoha, their voices strong and unified, promising to protect and serve the village with all their might.
After the ceremony, the group gathered to discuss their promotions. "Why wasn't Goku promoted too?" Naruto asked, his tone puzzled. "He's by far the strongest genin in the world."
Tsunade chuckled, having anticipated the question. "The logic behind not promoting Goku is simple: while he possesses incredible strength, he does not have the heart or mentality of a shinobi. He sees himself as a martial artist first and foremost. Until he changes that mindset, a promotion is unlikely."
The four chunin laughed, understanding immediately. Of course, Goku wouldn't change.
He was who he was, and that was something they all cherished about him.
"That sounds like Goku," Shikamaru said with a smirk. "Always doing things his own way."
"Yeah," Naruto agreed, grinning. "He's one of a kind."
Hinata smiled softly. "Goku-kun has always followed his own path. That's what makes him special."
Sasuke nodded, a rare smile tugging at his lips. "It's what makes him who he is."
Naruto, feeling particularly generous and wanting to celebrate their achievements, suggested they all go to Ichiraku Ramen.
"It's my treat! I've been saving up my hard-earned money," he said proudly.
The others agreed, appreciating the gesture of camaraderie. They made their way to the cozy and familiar ramen shop, each reflecting on what the promotion meant for their lives going forward. As they settled into their seats, the aroma of freshly cooked ramen filled the air, adding to the warmth of the moment.
The group settled into their seats at Ichiraku Ramen, the familiar warmth of the shop wrapping around them like a comforting blanket. Teuchi, the ramen chef, greeted them with a wide smile.
"Congratulations on your promotions, everyone! Your usuals?" Teuchi asked, already beginning to prepare their orders.
"Thanks, Teuchi-san! Yes, please!" Naruto replied eagerly, his excitement palpable. "This is on me today. I've been saving up for a special occasion."
"Way to go, Naruto," Shikamaru said with a smirk. "Finally spending your money on something other than instant ramen, huh?"
Naruto grinned sheepishly. "Well, I figured this was worth it. We all worked hard to get here."
Hinata smiled softly. "It's very kind of you, Naruto. Thank you."
Teuchi placed the steaming bowls of ramen in front of them, and they began to eat, savoring the rich flavors. After a few moments, Naruto spoke up, his mouth half-full.
"So, what do you guys think about being chunin? It's like a big change, right?" he asked, curiosity in his eyes.
Shikamaru sighed, leaning back slightly. "Troublesome, but it's what we signed up for. More responsibility, more missions, and more paperwork. But it's a step up, and I guess it's time to step up."
Sasuke nodded, his expression thoughtful. "It's a necessary step. We ought to get stronger and take on more challenging missions. This promotion is just the beginning of what's to come."
Hinata nodded in agreement. "It's an opportunity to grow and to protect the village more effectively.."
Naruto, always enthusiastic, added, "I'm not stopping here at all, just gonna use this as a stepping stone to becoming Hokage! One step closer to my dream."
Shikamaru chuckled. "You've got a long way to go, Naruto, but I wouldn't put it past you. You've got the determination."
Sasuke glanced at Naruto, a smirk tugging at his lips. "Just try to keep up, dobe. You're still the one I want to fight the most."
Hinata looked at Naruto with admiration. "We'll support you, Naruto-kun." She let it slip for the one time. "At least I think we will."
Naruto beamed at his friends. "Thanks guys. Together, we'll make Konoha proud."
As they continued to eat, their conversation flowed easily, filled with laughter and shared memories. They reminisced about their genin days, the tough battles they had faced, and the challenges they had overcome. Each story brought a sense of camaraderie.
"Remember that time when Naruto painted all over the Hokage Rock?" Shikamaru said, chuckling. "Who knew that same guy would end up here?"
Naruto laughed. "Yeah, those were good times. But I've grown up just a bit since then. I think."
Sasuke snickered. "Sometimes I find that hard to believe."
Hinata smiled at that. "Yep you're pretty much still you."
Naruto raised his bowl in a mock toast, ignoring their opinions. "Fuck you guys! To us, the new chunin of Konoha!"
The others raised their bowls, clinking them together with nods of agreement.
Meanwhile, gravity room hummed with an almost palpable energy, enveloping Goku and Ino as they trained with unrelenting intensity. Inside the room, the atmosphere was thick with the weight of seven times gravity, making every movement an arduous test of sheer willpower and physical endurance. The challenge was immense, but neither of them were willing to back down.
"Huff huff huff."
Goku hovered in the air, his shirtless form glistening with sweat as he blitzed around at top speed, adapting to the intense gravity. His movements were a blur as he fired energy blasts at himself, each one narrowly missing Ino, who was struggling with all her might on the floor. The pressure felt like the weight of the entire planet was crushing her body, but she refused to give in. Her determination was evident.
Ino, wearing a tight purple tank top that clung to her body, highlighting her toned figure, and with her blonde hair cut and flowing freely like it did during her younger academy days, fought against the gravity with sheer determination. She had shed her usual garments for this intense training session, her appearance now reflecting her inner resolve and focus. The loose strands of her hair framed her face, giving her a fierce yet vulnerable look, a combination that showcased her strength and resilience.
Goku couldn't help but be impressed by Ino's determination. Before the Chunin exams, she had seemed more focused on her appearance and reputation, often appearing vain and self-centered. But now she was pushing herself to her limits, displaying a newfound grit and desperation.
He watched her with a newfound respect, admiring her transformation and tenacity.
'She hasn't left the room or asked out yet,' Goku thought, genuinely surprised. Many people he knew couldn't handle this level of gravity, yet here she is, trying to match him despite the odds.
She was actually kind of remarkable.
As Goku continued his own super intense session, a theory began to form in his mind.
He wanted to test his limits further.
Charging up, cupped his hands together and formed cerulean ki within the palms. Within moments, the boy outstretched his arms, unleashing the turtle destruction wave for all of two to see.
"KAMEHAMEHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"
He launched a Kamehameha at himself, then turned around in the nick of time to catch his own blast. The force of the Ki beam nearly overwhelmed him, pushing him to his limits and beyond.
"Grrrrr...grahhh!"
Ino, struggling to stay on her feet, looked at Goku as if he were utterly insane. The sheer power and determination in his eyes mesmerized her. The hormonal passion she felt for him surged, her body responding to his raw, primal energy. She admired his physical prowess, and the sight of his in puberty but still relatively muscular, sweat-drenched form only intensified her attraction.
THUMP THUMP THUMP.
Her heart pounded in her chest, her breaths coming in short, shallow gasps as she fought to maintain her focus.
"RAAAAHH!"
In a fierce struggle of will, Goku aggressively ripped the Kamehameha apart, breaking his own limits once again.
BOOOOM!
The explosion rocked the entire room, sending Goku crashing into Ino's almost completely fatigued form. Both of them tried to get up, but their bodies were drained of energy, their muscles burning from the exertion.
Goku, with his burning arms, managed to push Ino up. "Hit the switch," he panted, his voice strained with effort.
Ino, using every ounce of strength she had left, reached for the switch and turned off the gravity. The pressure lifted, but their exhaustion remained.
Collapsing back down, Ino landed on top of Goku, who had both eyelids half-open with an exasperated expression. The relief from the intense gravity was immediate, but their bodies were still aching and spent.
Feeling his shirtless form beneath her and feeding into her latent attraction, Ino locked eyes with Goku.
His wide, innocent eyes met her turquoise-colored irises, and for a moment, time seemed to stand still.
The intensity of their training session faded into the background as they focused solely on each other.
Without a word, Ino leaned in...
And kissed him.
Goku's eyes widened in surprise, but he didn't pull away.
She kissed him again. And again. And again.
Each kiss grew more desperate, more passionate. Ino couldn't stop herself, her hormonal passion driving her to express the feelings she had bottled up. Her heart raced, and she felt a fiery heat spread through her body.
She moaned for the first time in her life.
Goku, unsure of what to do, played along, assuming it was another form of training.
He hoped he was doing a decent enough job at keeping up with her energy.
"Is this… part of... the training?" he murmured between kisses, his voice filled with confusion and curiosity, but not malcontent.
Ino paused for a moment, her cheeks flushed. "Yes, Goku-kun… it's a form of training," she lied, her voice trembling with desire and a hint of guilt.
Goku blinked, confusion and realization dawning in his eyes.
"Oh… but I don't mind it," he said honestly, his primal instincts responding to her touch and the situation.
Ino laughed softly, the sound filled with relief and affection. "You're something else, Goku-kun," she whispered, her voice filled with a mix of admiration and amusement.
They lay there for a few moments longer, their breathing slowly returning to normal. Goku's innocent acceptance of her affection only made Ino's feelings for him grow stronger. She felt a deep connection to him, one that transcended their training and physical exertion.
Goku on the other hand, didn't think much of it. He didn't feel guilty because as far as he knew, he wasn't married or officially betrothed to a woman.
Hinata was his best friend and despite like two short kisses between them they were still just that. Friends. They just cared for one another.
Deeply. Women were weird, that's all Goku could say for now. He loved Ino's aggressively seductive nature however, it was a sharp contrast for a change.
Maybe they could do some more "training" down the road.
After a while, Goku finally spoke. "Ino, you did amazing today. You're stronger than I thought," he said, his voice filled with genuine admiration and respect.
Ino smiled, feeling a warmth spread through her. "Thanks, Goku-kun. You inspire me to be stronger," she replied, her voice soft and sincere.
Goku grinned, his usual enthusiasm returning. "Let's keep training hard, okay?" he said, his eyes sparkling with determination and excitement.
Ino nodded, her heart swelling with more lust and affection. "Okay, Goku-kun. Let's give it our all," she agreed, her voice firm with resolve.
And then she leaned in again, but this time Goku rolled over quickly enough to avoid her "assault."
He clarified what was on his mind. "Maybe after this whole Orochimaru thing is over. Right now, he's still getting stronger. And I plan on kicking it up a notch, hope you can understand," he finished, essentially kicking her out without directly saying so.
"I do," Ino relented, walking toward the exit. She had satisfied her desires for now, but she knew what she ultimately wanted from him. "Just don't kill yourself before the mission! See you tomorrow, Goku-kun!"
And then she left. Goku smiled at the sensations he felt. It was foreign to him...but it physically felt good.
"Enough of that," the boy muttered to himself, walking over the panel that dictated the numerical value of the gravity in the room. "Time to die."
He hit it nine times, making the gravity ten times that of Earth... or the gravity of his late home Planet Vegeta unbeknownst to him.
Slowly but surely, Goku was becoming a Saiyan amongst men rather than a Superman amongst men.
Belt to ass incoming!
Orochimaru's ass was grass!
He's about to get fucked up.
