Chapter 81: The Finizen Pod
Hello everyone, this chapter will focus on the group encountering a pod of Finizen and meeting Hunter J again. Also, I'm sorry about the late release. I was sick these past couple of days but I'm slowly starting to feel better. Now with that out of the way I hope you all enjoy the chapter.
The chapter begins a day after the last chapter ended and we see the group still at sea riding on Lapras. As Lapras continues to swim it notices something up ahead and alerts the 4 trainers as Ash speaks.
"Is something wrong Lapras?" Ash asks with Lapras nodding as it looks forward making everyone look forward too. Once they do they see a pod of Finizen happily swimming around next to a small island. The group look at the mons and have smiles on their faces as Misty speaks.
"It's a pod of Finizen!" Misty says happily with hearts in her eyes as Ash speaks.
"I've never seen so many Finizen before" "Me neither" Ash and Leaf say as Tracey speaks.
"Usually, you'd only see this many Finizen in the Paldea region but during this time of the year it's their migration season where they swim all over the world searching for food and a breeding ground" Tracey says with the 2 kids nodding as Ash speaks.
"Cool why don't we go say hi" Ash suggests with the group nodding as Lapras begins to swim faster. A couple minutes later the group made it to the island they tell Lapras thank you and Ash returns her to her Pokeball. Once he does Leaf looks at the island and speaks.
"This island's pretty small and it looks like it's covered in caves" Leaf says while looking at one of the very dark caves Tracey speaks.
"We should try not to fall down there" Tracey says with Leaf nodding. Meanwhile, Misty looks at the Finizen Pod and has hearts in her eyes as she speaks.
"They're so cute! Okay Finizen come out!" Misty says as she throws the ball forward sending out her Finizen. Once Finizen appears it looks forward and sees multiple Finizen's as Misty speaks.
"Hey Finizen seeing as you don't see much of your own kind why don't you go play with them" Misty says as her Finizen looks at the pod again who tell Misty's Finizen to come over. Misty's Finizen gets a smile on its face immediately jumps in the water and begins to play with the other Finizen's. As the Finizen's are playing the group look at the mons having a good time as Tracey speaks.
"This is a once in a lifetime event I gotta make sure to sketch this" Tracey says as he pulls out his sketchbook and begins to sketch the Finizen. As everyone continues to look at the Finizen playing together Leaf sees something in the distance and speaks.
"Hey what's that?" Leaf asks, making the group confused as they look at where she's pointing and see something in the water as Misty speaks.
"Is it another Finizen?" Misty questions as Ash speaks.
"I don't think so and I have a bad feeling" Ash says with Pikachu agreeing they continue to look until the thing in the water shoots forward at a fast speed and hits some of the Finizen knocking them away surprising the group as Leaf speaks.
"Oh no the Finizen!" Leaf says as Misty speaks.
"Finizen protect the other Finizen and use Aqua Jet!" Misty calls her Finizen covers its body in water and shoots forward. Finizen goes to hit the thing that hit the Finizen but ends up missing as the thing dodges by jumping in the air. The group then take a closer look at the thing as Misty speaks.
"It's a Veluza!" Misty says as Leaf speaks.
"What's a Veluza doing here? And why is it attacking the Finizen?" Leaf asks as Tracey speaks.
"I'm not sure Veluza aren't native to the Orange Islands and don't have any migration patterns that I know of" Tracey says as Ash takes a closer look at the Veluza and speaks.
"Wait this Veluza I feel as though I have seen it before" Ash says with Pikachu nodding. Just when Misty, Leaf, and Tracey are about to ask what he means they then hear a voice.
"Hyper Beam!" The voice says causing the group to look in the air as they see a big Hyper Beam heading towards them Ash speaks.
"Pikachu quick use Thunderbolt!" Ash calls Pikachu fires the electric bolt that connects with the Hyper Beam creating an explosion along with a cloud of smoke. When the smoke clears everyone looks in the air and see who fired the blast once they do they get surprised looks on their faces.
"Hunter J?!" The group exclaims as J looks at them and speaks.
"Oh, it's you brats again" J says in an annoyed tone as Ash speaks.
"What're you doing here?!" Ash asks as J speaks.
"Do you really have to ask? It should be obvious now Veluza use Liquidation on the Finizen!" J calls Veluza summons 2 large water blades and slashes multiple Finizen easily injuring them making the group mad as Misty speaks.
"Stop it!" Misty yells in anger as J looks at her and speaks.
"Looks like you're getting angry and are about to get in my way, so I'll have my men deal with you" J says as suddenly her grunts appear and throw their Pokeball's forward sending out multiple Golbat, Gliscor, and Barraskewda. The grunts Pokémon stare at the group as Ash speaks.
"Looks like we're going to have to fight" Ash says with the group nodding as they take out their Pokeball's and speak.
"Come Out!" The 4 trainers say as they throw their Pokeball's in the air. Tracey brings out Marill and Smeargle. Leaf brings out Venusaur, shiny Altaria and Cotton (Galarian Rapidash). Misty brings out Vaporeon, Slowpoke, Dewgong, Popplio and Drizzile. Ash sends out Primeape, Kingler, Grovyle, Luxray and Noivern. Pikachu then jumps off Ash's shoulder stands next to its teammates and gets in a battle stance as J speaks.
"Get rid of them while I deal with the Finizen" J says as she brings out her Magnezone, her grunts nod and tell their Pokémon to attack the groups Pokémon as Ash speaks.
"Here they come! Pikachu, Luxray use Thunderbolt!" "Vaporeon, Dewgong, Popplio use Ice Beam!" Ash and Misty call their Pokémon fire their attacks and easily knock out many Golbat's. The Barraskewda cover their bodies in water and head for the groups Pokémon as Misty speaks.
"Slowpoke stop them with Psychic!" "You use Psychic too Cotton!" Misty and Leaf call Slowpoke along with Cotton fire the psychic waves and manage to stop the Barraskewda's in time. When they do Grovyle, Primeape, Venusaur, along with Smeargle are ready as their trainers speak.
"Grovyle use Leaf Blade and Primeape use Close Combat!" "Venusaur Razor Leaf!" "Smeargle use Sketch to copy Venusaur's Razor Leaf!" Ash, Leaf, and Tracey call. The 3 leaves on Grovyle's arms become grassy blades and starts to easily defeat multiple Barraskewda. Primeape begins to punch/kick the fish while Venusaur along with Smeargle fire multiple razor-sharp leaves that knock out a lot of Barraskewda. Meanwhile, high in the air the Gliscor's create multiple sharp stones and fire them at the groups Pokémon as Ash and Leaf speak.
"Noivern use Boomburst!" "Altaria use Dragon Pulse!" Both trainers call Noivern along with Altaria fire their attacks that collide with the sharp stones creating an explosion. Back to the Finizen Huner J's Veluza goes to attack them but Misty's Finizen gets in its way by hitting it with Aqua Jet. Misty's Finizen then looks at the other Finizen and tells them to swim away with the mons nodding. As the wild Finizen begin to swim away J along with her Salamence and Magnezone look at them as J speaks.
"You're not going anywhere. Salamence use Hyper Beam and Magnezone use Electroweb!" J calls Salamence fires the blast that crashes near the Finizen causing them to stop. After that Magnezone fires a big electric ball that becomes a web and grabs the Finizen. The electric net then begins to shock the Finizen causing them to cry out in pain. Misty's Finizen notices this and goes to help the wild Finizen but J's Veluza gets in its way making Misty's Finizen annoyed. Back to the group Misty looks over at the trapped Finizen then speaks.
"The Finizen need our help!" Misty says as Ash speaks.
"Noivern use Boomburst to clear a path!" "Altaria use Dragon Pulse to help Noivern!" Ash and Leaf call. Noivern along with Altaria fire their attacks that easily knock away multiple Golbat's, Gliscor's, and Barraskewda's. Ash then looks at Misty and speaks.
"Now's your chance Misty and we'll take care of the grunts!" Ash says with Misty nodding as she along with her Pokémon begin to run forward. The grunts notice Misty and her Pokémon running towards the trapped Finizen then speak.
"Barraskewda use Aqua Jet and Golbat use Air Slash!" The grunts call when their Pokémon fire their moves Pikachu along with Luxray get in front of the attacks and begin sparking their bodies as Ash speaks.
"Pikachu use Thunder times 4 and Luxray use Discharge!" Ash calls Pikachu along with Luxray roar as they fire electricity everywhere easily knocking out multiple Barraskewda's and Golbat's. The electric attacks also hit the Gliscor's but it doesn't do any damage to them. The Gliscor's then begin flying towards Pikachu and Luxray going to hit them with X Scissor as Ash speaks.
"Kingler use Liquidation!" Ash calls Kingler appears in front of the Gliscor's its pincers become water blades jumps forward and slashes the Gliscor's easily knocking them out as Ash speaks.
"Great job Kingler!" Ash cheers along with his Pokémon making Kingler smile and making the grunts angry. While Ash, Leaf, and Tracey continue to keep the grunts busy Misty along with her Pokémon jump in the water (Togepi's in her backpack) and begin swimming over towards the Finizen. When they reach them, Misty looks at them and speaks.
"Don't worry Finizen we'll get you out of there" Misty says with the Finizen nodding. Just when Misty's about to free the Finizen J speaks.
"Hyper Beam!" J calls her Salamence fires the beam it goes to hit Misty and her Pokémon as Misty speaks.
"Use Hydro Pump!" Misty calls as Vaporeon fires the big stream of water that collides with the Hyper Beam creating an explosion. When the explosion clears J along with Salamence and Magnezone look at Misty and her Pokémon as J speaks.
"So, you're really going to get in my way" J says as Misty speaks.
"That's right!" Misty responds, making J annoyed as she speaks.
"Okay then perish! Salamence use Dragon Pulse!" J calls Salamence covers its mouth in purple draconic energy and fires the purple dragon beam towards Misty's Pokémon as Misty speaks.
"Dewgong, Popplio use Ice Beam!" Misty calls the 2-mons fire their icy beams that collide with the Dragon Pulse creating an explosion as Misty calls for her next command.
"Now Drizzile use Ice Shard!" Misty calls Drizzile begins firing multiple shards of ice towards Salamence as J speaks.
"Magnezone use Gyro Ball then Discharge!" J calls Magnezone appears in front of the shards of ice covers its body in steel energy and spins easily destroying the ice shard. Magnezone then fires electricity everywhere as Misty speaks.
"Slowpoke stop it with Psychic and Vaporeon use Quick Attack then Aqua Tail!" Misty calls Slowpoke quickly fires the psychic waves and stops the Discharge. Vaporeon then shoots upward and hits Magnezone with Quick Attack. Vaporeon then covers its tail in water and slaps Magnezone across the face sending the mon a few feet away. Salamence then appears in front of Vaporeon and has its mouth opened as J speaks.
"Now use Crunch!" "Dewgong, Popplio Ice Beam!" "Dodge Salamence!" Both trainers call when Salamence goes to bite Vaporeon Dewgong along with Popplio fire their icy beams. Salamence sees the Ice Beam's coming and manages to dodge at last second allowing for Vaporeon to dive safely back in the water. After that J sees Misty's Dewgong taking a deep breath as Misty speaks.
"Now use Blizzard!" "Salamence blow it away with Hyper Beam!" Both trainers call Dewgong summons a massive blizzard that goes to hit Salamence, but the dragon fires a big Hyper Beam that easily destroys the Blizzard and is now heading for Dewgong as Misty speaks.
"Vaporeon quick use Hydro Pump!" Misty calls Vaporeon quickly fires a big Hydro Pump that connects with the Hyper Beam and creates a big explosion along with a smoke screen that obscures everyone's vision. Misty then swims over to the wild Finizen and manages to pull the Electroweb off them (the electricity does hurt Misty, but she pushed past the pain), Misty looks at the mons and speaks.
"Come on let's get out of here!" Misty says with the Finizen nodding as they along with Misty's Pokémon (Misty's Finizen managed to escape Veluza and is with them) begin to swim away. On the land Ash, Leaf, Tracey along with their Pokémon see Misty swimming away with the wild Finizen and her Pokémon. The 3 trainers' along with their Pokémon begin running over to them. Meanwhile, up in the air J made it out of the smoke, she then uses her eye piece to see inside the smoke and sees Misty taking the wild Finizen away. J smiles then speaks.
"There you are" J says and calls for her commands.
"Salamence use Hyper Beam and men have your Pokémon fire in the direction that Salamence's beam is heading!" J says with her grunts nodding as Salamence along with the grunts Pokémon fire their attacks that head for the group. Still hidden in the smoke the group see the beams heading for them and call for their commands.
"Use Hydro Pump!" Use Solar Beam and Dragon Pulse!" "Use Psybeam!" "Use Thunderbolt, Dragon Pulse, Bullet Seed, and Hydro Pump!" The 4 trainers call their Pokémon fire their attacks that collide with Salamence's Hyper Beam along with the other blasts creating a big explosion that sends the group along with their Pokémon and the wild Finizen flying as they all fall into the caves becoming separated. Once the smoke clears J along with her men see that the group along with the Finizen are gone J then speaks.
"We're entering the caves!" J says with her men nodding as they along with their Pokémon enter the caves and begin their search for the Finizen along with the group. 10 minutes later we go into one of the caves and see Ash lying on the ground with his eyes closed as he hears a voice.
"Pika Pi" The voice says as Ash then opens his eyes. When he does, he sees Pikachu, Primeape, Kingler, Grovyle, Noivern, and Luxray looking at him. Ash then smiles and speaks.
"Hey guys" Ash says making the 6-mons happy as they hug him making Ash smile. After that Ash stands back up, he looks around and speaks.
"Looks like that explosion caused us to fall into one of the caves. I wonder where everyone else are?" Ash says with his Pokémon wondering the same. Suddenly they then hear footsteps coming towards them, Ash's Pokémon immediately get into battle stances as they along with Ash keep looking forward. A couple seconds later the person makes himself known as it's Tracey and Smeargle. The two look at Ash and his Pokémon as Tracey smiles and speaks.
"It's Ash and his Pokémon!" Tracey says happily making Smeargle smile as Ash speaks.
"It's Tracey and Smeargle!" Ash says happily as his Pokémon get out of their battle stances. They all then run towards each other, once they get close enough Tracey speaks.
"It's great to see you guys" Tracey says as Ash speaks.
"You too" Ash responds while Ash's Pokémon along with Tracey's Smeargle say the same thing to each other. Once the reunion's done Tracey speaks.
"Hey Ash, have you seen Leaf or Misty anywhere?" Tracey asks as Ash speaks.
"No, I haven't I just woke up" Ash responds with Tracey nodding as he speaks.
"I see me along with Smeargle woke up a few minutes ago and as we were walking around the cave, we saw a few of Hunter J's men walking around" Tracey says surprising Ash and his Pokémon as Ash speaks.
"So, they followed us here" Ash says as Tracey speaks.
"They're most likely looking for the wild Finizen who're probably with either Misty or Leaf. We should hurry and join them, but it will be difficult to navigate through this cave. We'll also have to watch out for Hunter J's grunts." Tracey says with Ash agreeing as he speaks.
"Don't worry with Noivern's sound waves and Luxray's X-Ray vision navigating us through some of the dark parts of the cave I'm sure that we can find them in no time" Ash says with Tracey nodding. Ash then returns Grovyle, Primeape, and Kingler to their Pokeball's. Tracey then pulls out a Pokeball and speaks.
"Venonat come out!" Tracey says sending out the bug as Tracey speaks.
"Venonat can use its Radar Eye's to help search too" Tracey says with Ash nodding. The 2 boys then look at the 3 mons and speak.
"Okay Let's Go!" "Pika!" The 2 trainers along with Pikachu say as the 3 mons get to work. Noivern uses its sound waves, Luxray uses its X-Ray Vision and Venonat uses its Radar Eye's. The 3 mons begin to run forward with Ash and Tracey following closely behind. Meanwhile in another part of the cave we come over to Misty who's lying on the ground and has her eyes closed. As Misty's laying down, she begins to hear voices telling her to wake up, a few seconds later Misty wakes up. Once Misty fully opens her eyes, she sees Vaporeon, Togepi, Drizzile, Slowpoke, Popplio, Leaf along with her Venusaur, Altaria, and Cotton. They all look at Misty as Leaf speaks.
"You're awake!" Leaf says happily as she along with Misty's Pokémon hug her making Misty happy as she speaks.
"It's great to see you too" Misty says she then remembers her Finizen along with the wild Finizen. Misty looks at Leaf and speaks.
"Leaf where's my and the wild Finizen?" Misty asks as Leaf speaks.
"Oh, they're right over there" Leaf says while pointing to the right as Misty turns around and sees her Finizen along with the wild Finizen who all have smiles on their faces making Misty happy as she speaks.
"It's good to see that you're all okay" Misty says making the dolphins happy. After that Misty along with Leaf stand up Misty then looks around the cave and speaks.
"We really fell down far huh?" Misty asks with Leaf nodding as she speaks.
"Yeah, my Pokémon and I woke up a few minutes ago and were also surprised by how far we fell" Leaf says as Misty speaks.
"By the way have you been able to contact either Ash or Tracey?" Misty asks as Leaf speaks.
"Well, I tried contacting them with my Pokegear but just like what happened in the Seafoam islands I don't have a signal" Leaf responds with Misty nodding as she speaks.
"I hope that they're alright" Misty says while having a worried look on her face as Leaf speaks.
"I'm sure they're fine also Ash his Noivern and Luxray and Tracey has his Venonat so they should be able to find and meet up with us soon" Leaf says with Misty nodding as she speaks.
"True but by looking at your face it tells me that we won't be able to just wait here for them" Misty says with Leaf nodding as she speaks.
"That's right when I woke up, I heard a few of Hunter J's grunts walking around looking for the Finizen" Leaf says as Misty speaks.
"So, they did follow us down here not that I'm surprised" Misty says with Leaf nodding they then look at the wild Finizen who've scared looks on their faces Misty then walks over to them and speaks.
"Don't worry we'll make sure that Hunter J doesn't capture any of you and we'll also make sure that you escape safely" Misty says trying to ease the Finizen's worries but they're still scared, Misty's Finizen then goes over to them and tells them that his trainer is right and that they can trust her. The wild Finizen look at Misty's Finizen then look back at Misty who's serious about protecting them. The wild Finizen then nod making Misty and her Finizen smile as Leaf speaks.
"Misty we should leave soon I hear some grunts coming this way" Leaf says with Misty nodding. After that the 2 girls return their Pokémon to their Pokeball's except for Togepi and Misty's Finizen (the wild Finizen feel more comfortable with him around) and they all begin to walk away from their area. 10 minutes go by during this time Misty, Leaf, along with the Finizen are walking around looking for an exit and also make sure that they aren't found by Hunter J's men. They continue to walk until they reach a large cavern Leaf then speaks.
"This is a cavern" Leaf says as Misty speaks.
"It's pretty" Misty says as she along with Leaf and the Finizen look around and see the beautiful blue lights lighting up the cavern. As they continue to look around Leaf sees a hole up ahead and feels some wind coming out of it then speaks.
"I feel a wind breeze coming out of that hole I think it's the exit" Leaf says as Misty speaks.
"Great let's go!" Misty says with Leaf agreeing as they along with the Finizen begin running towards the hole out of the corner of Misty's Finizen eyes it sees something going to hit Misty. Finizen quickly gets in the way and blocks the attack but is then sent crashing into a wall a few feet away as Misty speaks.
"Finizen!" Misty calls in worry. When the smoke clears Finizen appears it's groaning in pain but overall fine making Misty along with Leaf and the wild Finizen let out a relief sigh as Leaf speaks.
"I'm happy that your Finizen's okay but what hit it?" Leaf asks with Misty wondering the same as they turn left and see Hunter J's Veluza. The 2 girls have surprised looks on their faces as they then hear a voice.
"So, this is where you were" The voice says as Hunter J walks out of the hole Misty and Leaf speak.
"Hunter J!" The 2 girls say in anger while the Finizen start getting scared Misty then speaks.
"How'd you find us?!" Misty asks as J speaks.
"I'll admit it was rather difficult, but my goggles can search for heat signatures. When I saw a bunch of heat signatures gathered in this cavern, I had a feeling to check, and it turns out that I was right. Now move out men!" J responds as suddenly a large majority of her grunts appear and surround the 2 girls and the Finizen as J speaks.
"Now I'll only tell you this once if you don't want to get hurt, I suggest that you leave the Finizen and go" J says while looking at the Finizen making the dolphins terrified. Misty and Leaf then speak.
"NO WAY!" The 2 girls say in anger as they then throw their Pokeball's in the air sending out their Pokémon, Leaf's last 3 Pokémon are Talonflame, Frosmoth, and Persian. Misty's along with Leaf's Pokémon get into battle stances as J speaks.
"Of course," J says as she then gives her grunts a look that tells them to bring out their Pokémon with the grunts nodding. They throw their Pokeball's forward sending out multiple Golbat and Barraskewda. The grunts Pokémon then begin to charge forward heading for Misty, Leaf, and their Pokémon as both girls speak.
"Dewgong, Popplio use Ice Beam!" "Venusaur use Power Whip!" Both girls call Dewgong along with Popplio fire their icy beams that hit multiple Golbat and freeze them easily knocking them out. Leaf's Venusaur then summons multiple green whips and shoots them forward as they hit/defeat multiple Barraskewda's. A few of the Golbat's wings glow as the grunts speak.
"Use Air Slash!" The grunts call as the Golbat's fire multiple slashes of wind at Venusaur Leaf speaks.
"Venusaur use Protect, Frosmoth use Blizzard and Talonflame use Fire Blast!" Leaf calls Venusaur summons a protective barrier and blocks the slashes of wind. Frosmoth along with Talonflame then fire their attacks which hit the Golbat's that were targeting Venusaur and knock them out. A few Barraskewda's are using Aqua Jet and are heading for Misty's Pokémon as she speaks.
"Slowpoke use Psychic to hold them in place and Vaporeon, Drizzile use Hydro Pump!" Misty calls Slowpoke sends out the waves of psychic energy and manages to stop the Barraskewda's. Vaporeon along with Drizzile then fire a combined Hydro Pump that hits the Barraskewda's and easily knock them away as Misty speaks.
"Great job!" Misty cheers making her Pokémon smile. Misty doesn't stay smiling for long as Hunter J's Veluza's now heading for the Finizen and is about to hit them as Misty speaks.
"Finizen quick use Liquidation!" "Dodge Veluza!" Both trainers call Misty's Finizen appears its fins become water blades and goes to hit Veluza. But Veluza manages to easily dodge the attack and moves back a few feet away. Veluza then sees Misty's Finizen stand protectively in front of the wild Finizen, the 2-mons glare at each other as J speaks.
"So, your Finizen's protecting the wild ones well then I'll steal it too then" J says as Misty speaks.
"That won't happen because we're going to beat you!" Misty says with Finizen nodding. Misty then looks at her other Pokémon and speaks.
"You guys go help Leaf's Pokémon with the grunts. Finizen and I will take care of J" Misty says with the 5-mons nodding as they quickly leave to assist Leaf's Pokémon as J speaks.
"So, you truly think that you can beat me?" J asks as Misty speaks.
"Yeah, and I know Finizen can do it!" Misty says with Finizen nodding in agreement as J speaks.
"Heh fine with me because it'll make the shocked look on your face better once Veluza defeats it and I take it from you. Now Veluza use Aqua Jet!" J calls Veluza covers its body in water and shoots forward as Misty speaks.
"Counter with your Aqua Jet Finizen!" Misty calls Finizen covers its body in water shoots forward and collides with Veluza. The 2 mons push each other back and forth for a little bit until Veluza manages to easily knock Finizen away making the mon slide back a few feet away as J speaks.
"Now use Psycho Cut!" J calls Veluza begins firing multiple psychic blades towards Finizen as Misty speaks.
"Finizen dodge and when you get close to Veluza use Liquidation!" Misty calls Finizen begins to easily dodge the psychic blades, as it continues to dodge Finizen covers both of its fins in water and goes to hit Veluza as J speaks.
"Counter with your Liquidation!" J calls Veluza summons a big water blade above its head and collides with Finizen's blades. Finizen tries to knock the blade away but is unable to as Veluza manages to knock away Finizen's blades and hits Finizen making the mon cry out in pain as it's sent flying a few feet away then lands on the ground as Misty speaks.
"Finizen!" Misty calls in worry while Finizen's groaning in pain J calls for her next command.
"Now use Psycho Cut!" J calls Veluza quickly fires multiple psychic blades that hit Finizen before Misty could tell it to dodge and creates an explosion as Misty speaks.
"Finizen!" Misty calls in worry as when the smoke clears Finizen's laying on the ground groaning in pain as Misty begins to think.
"That Psycho Cut did a lot of damage if I remember correctly Veluza get the ability Sharpness that boost sharping moves by 50%. J's Veluza probably has that" Misty says to herself as J speaks.
"Looks like your Finizen's done for" J says as Misty speaks.
"No Finizen can still continue right Finizen?!" Misty says while looking at Finizen who's still groaning in pain but still has a determined look on his face and is ready to continue making Misty happy as J speaks.
"Why are you so happy that it stood back up? This just means that it'll suffer more pain from Veluza which I don't mind personally" J says as Misty speaks.
"Because Finizen made a promise to the wild Finizen that it'll protect them so no matter how much you try to hurt it Finizen will continue to fight and not only protect the wild Finizen but also defeat your Veluza!" Misty responds making J smirk as she speaks.
"You're making it sound like your Finizen's some hero when it's only just a regular Finizen that'll fail to protect those wild Finizen's. Then when they're out of the way my men will defeat your friend over there and then you'll perish along with them" J says as Misty speaks.
"NO! That won't happen!" Misty exclaims while having a determined look on her face, making J remember Misty's parents and making the woman angrier as J speaks.
"That face you're making reminds me of them. Now Veluza finish off Finizen with Aqua Jet!" J calls Veluza nods as it covers its body in water and shoots forward heading for Finizen as Misty speaks.
"Finizen dodge!" Misty calls just when Finizen's about to dodge it notices that if it does then Veluza will hit the wild Finizen which would injure them and allow J to catch them. Finizen gets a determined look on its face and decides not to dodge as it takes Veluza's attack head on. Misty's surprised that Finizen decided not to dodge but then notices that it was trying to protect the wild Finizen and speaks.
"Great job Finizen now knock Veluza away!" Misty calls with Finizen nodding as it tries to knock Veluza away J speaks.
"Do you really think that's going to work Veluza get rid of Finizen!" J calls with Veluza nodding as it begins to increase the power of its Aqua Jet more making it more difficult for Finizen to hold on as Misty speaks.
"Come on Finizen I know you can do it!" "Prr!" Misty along with Togepi cheer. The wild Finizen see just how much Misty's Finizen is trying to protect them causing them to begin cheering as well.
"Fini, Zen, Fini, Zen, Fini, Zen!" The wild Finizen cheer loudly for Misty's Finizen. Misty's Finizen hears the cheers from not only its trainer but also from Togepi and the wild Finizen as well. Finizen then gets a determined look on its face wanting to protect its trainer along with its new friends Finizen lets out a yell.
"FINIZENNNNN!" Finizen yells as it begins glowing a bright light and pushes Veluza a few feet away as J speaks.
"What the?!" J says as Misty speaks.
"Finizen's evolving!" Misty says happily. Meanwhile, over to where Leaf, her Pokémon and Misty's Pokémon are. They continue to battle the grunts but once they see the bright light they also stop too forcing them all to look at it. Everyone continues to look at the light as once the evolution stops what was once a Finizen is now a Palafin. Everyone looks at Palafin and have confused looks on their faces as it still looks like Finizen as Leaf speaks.
"Did the evolution fail? It still looks the same" Leaf questions as J smiles and speaks.
"Heh, would you look at that your Finizen evolved it still looks the same" J says as Misty then takes a closer look at Palafins's chest and sees what looks like a heart on it. Palafin looks at Misty and smiles with Misty smiling too as she speaks.
"Sorry J but you're wrong my Palafin has changed" Misty says as J speaks.
"You must be blind because I don't see how it's any different from before" J says as Misty speaks.
"The only blind one here is you!" Misty says with Palafin agreeing as J speaks.
"We'll see about that now Veluza use Aqua Jet!" J calls Veluza covers its body in water and shoots forward as Misty speaks.
"Palafin dodge then use Flip Turn!" Misty calls with Palafin nodding. When Veluza goes to hit Palafin, Palafin manages to jump in the air and dodges the attack. Palafin then covers its body in water shoots downward and hits Veluza making the mon land on the ground. Before Veluza can counter Palafin goes back in its Pokeball as J speaks.
"Are you running away again?" J asks as Misty speaks.
"Nope I'm not running now Palafin come back out!" Misty says as she throws the ball forward and sends out Palafin. The moment Palafin appears everyone (except for Misty) are surprised that it changed as it's now standing upright and looks like a hero. J has a surprised look on her face as Misty speaks.
"You said that it didn't look like Palafin changed right? Well guess what you're wrong. Palafin's ability after evolving is called Zero to Hero where after using a move like Flip Turn that switches the user with a teammate once Palafin returns it takes the appearance of a hero" Misty says with Palafin nodding as Leaf takes out her Pokedex to scan the mon.
"Palafin the Dolphin/Hero Pokémon and a pure Water Type. This Pokémon changes its appearance if it hears its allies calling for help. Palafin will never show anybody its moment of transformation. This Pokémon's ancient genes have awakened. It is now so extraordinarily strong that it can easily lift a cruise ship with one fin." The Pokedex says as it also showcases the 2 forms Leaf speaks.
"Wow that's amazing!" Leaf says with stars in her eyes while her Pokémon along with Misty's Pokémon look at Palafin J speaks.
"Well, I must say I certainly wasn't expecting this but now that it's evolved it just upped its value. Now Veluza use Psycho Cut!" J calls when Veluza's about to use the move Misty speaks.
"I don't think so Palafin use Jet Punch!" Misty calls Palafin covers its right fist in water and shoots forward reaching Veluza instantly. Palafin then punches Veluza hard in the face and sends it crashing into a nearby wall which surprises J as Misty speaks.
"Yeah, great job Palafin!" "Prr!" "Fin!" Misty along with Togepi and Finizen cheer making Palafin smile as J speaks.
"Veluza use Aqua Jet!" J calls Veluza covers its body in water and shoots forward heading for Palafin as Misty speaks.
"Stop it Palafin!" Misty calls Palafin holds its right hand forward and manages to easily stop Veluza which surprises the mon as J speaks.
"Now that your close use Liquidation!" "Palafin counter with your Liquidation then throw Veluza away!" Both trainers' call. Veluza summons a big water blade above its head and goes to hit Palafin with it. Palafin's left fist becomes a water blade then swings it and easily destroys Veluza's Liquidation. J along with Veluza are surprised as a couple seconds later Palafin then throws Veluza away with its right hand making it land on the ground a few feet away as J speaks.
"Stand up Veluza use Filet Away then Final Gambit!" J calls Veluza stands back up it chips away some of its health but in turn it sharply increases its attack, special attack, and speed. Veluza then roars as it covers its body in orange and shoots forward heading for Palafin as Misty speaks.
"Palafin counter with Waterfall!" Misty calls Palafin roars as it covers its body in water shoots forward and collides with Veluza. The 2 mons begin pushing each other back and forth trying to knock their opponent away and are also causing the cavern to shake as well. Veluza then starts to gain the upper hand and is slowly pushing Palafin back as J speaks.
"Veluza end it!" J calls with Veluza nodding as it continues to push Palafin back Misty speaks.
"PALAFIN KEEP GOING WE BELIEVE IN YOU!" Misty cheers along with Togepi, her Pokémon, Leaf, Leaf's Pokémon and the wild Finizen. Palafin hears their cheers and doesn't want to lose as it roars.
"PALAAAA!" Palafin roars as its Waterfall grows bigger and turns into something else instead as J speaks.
"What!?" J says as Leaf speaks.
"Palafin's Waterfall turned into Wave Crash!" Leaf says as Misty speaks.
"Great job Palafin and keep pushing!" Misty says with Palafin nodding as it begins to slowly push Veluza back but Veluza's not backing down as J speaks.
"Veluza what are you doing?! End This!" J exclaims with Veluza nodding as it keeps pushing trying to knock Palafin away Misty speaks.
"PALAFIN DO ITTT!" "PALAFINNNNNNNNNNN!" Misty along with Palafin yell as Palafin increases its Wave Crash more and more until it begins to overwhelm Veluza's Final Gambit. Veluza tries its best to hold on but is unable to as a few seconds later Palafin manages to destroy the Final Gambit and hit Veluza. Veluza is then sent flying past J and crashes into the wall behind her creating a dust cloud. Once the dust clears everyone can see that Veluza's not only stuck in the wall but is also knocked out. J along with her men have surprised looks on their faces while Misty smiles and speaks.
"We Won!" Misty cheers along with Togepi, the wild Finizen, and Palafin as Leaf speaks.
"They did it!" Leaf cheers along with her Pokémon and Misty's Pokémon. Misty's Popplio looks at Palafin and is happy to see that her friend has grown so strong. Meanwhile, J's grunts are surprised that one of J's Pokémon lost as they've never seen it happen before. Back to J she loses her shocked expression replacing it with a more serious/stoic one and returns Veluza back to its Pokeball. J then looks at her men and speaks.
"What're you fools doing?! This is no time to be standing around we're still in the middle of battle!" J says as she throws her next Pokeball forward sending out her Magnezone. J's grunts then lose their shocked faces and get serious too as they along with their Pokémon are ready to continue as J speaks.
"Now Magnezone use Zap Cannon!" J calls Magnezone creates a big electric ball and fires it towards Misty and Palafin as Leaf speaks.
"Misty, Palafin look out!" Leaf says as just when she's about to have Cotton stop the ball Misty's Popplio quickly uses Aqua Jet and shoots forward. Just when the ball's about to hit Misty and Palafin Popplio appears in front of them and takes the attack head on as Misty speaks.
"Popplio!" Misty calls in worry Popplio cries out in pain until there's an explosion. Once the explosion clears Popplio's laying on the ground groaning in pain as Misty speaks.
"Popplio are you okay?!" "Pala?" Misty along with Palafin ask with Popplio nodding as she stands back up and looks at Magnezone as J speaks.
"Magnezone fire another Zap Cannon and make sure you hit them this time!" J says with Magnezone nodding as it fires another Zap Cannon that heads for Misty and Palafin as Misty speaks.
"Popplio you take a break and Palafin use Jet Punch to knock the Zap Cannon away!" Misty says with Palafin nodding. Just when Palafin's about to use Jet Punch Popplio sees J pointing her arm cannon towards Palafin and fires it. Popplio quickly manages to knock Palafin away with Aqua Jet then fires an Ice Beam at the beam that was going to turn Palafin to stone and destroy it. The Ice Beam then goes to hit J, but she manages to dodge in time then looks at Popplio and has an annoyed look on her face making Popplio smile. Popplio then sees the Zap Cannon going to hit it as Misty speaks.
"Popplio look out!" Misty calls but was too late as the Zap Cannon his Popplio and begins shocking it. Inside the Zap Cannon Popplio cries out in pain and is about to faint but then remembers how even though when Palafin was a Finizen it continued to fight protecting their trainer along with the wild Finizen. Popplio then gets a determined look on her face as she roars.
"LIO!" Popplio roars and glows a bright white that destroys the Zap Cannon surprising everyone as J speaks.
"That one's evolving too?!" J says in surprise as everyone continues to look at the light and see Popplio change and grow a foot taller. Once the evolution stops what was once a Popplio is now a Brionne, everyone has surprised looks on their faces as Leaf pulls out her Pokedex to scan the mon.
"Brionne the Pop Star Pokémon and a pure Water type. Brionne can make balloons in all sorts of colors, and performs a joyful dance when its Trainer needs cheering up." The Pokedex says as Misty looks at Brionne and speaks.
"Brionne did you evolve to protect us?" Misty asks as Brionne looks at her and smiles making Misty along with Togepi, and Palafin smile too. Misty then gets a serious look on her face and speaks.
"Okay Brionne let's show off your new power!" Misty says with Brionne nodding as J speaks.
"Your Brionne evolving means nothing Magnezone use Thunder!" J calls Magnezone fires a large electric bolt towards Brionne as Misty speaks.
"Dodge then use Hydro Pump!" Misty calls Brionne quickly moves to the right and avoids the Thunder. Brionne then takes a deep breath and fires a big stream of water towards Magnezone as J speaks.
"Magnezone destroy it with Charge Beam!" J calls Magnezone fires an electric beam that easily goes through the Hydro Pump and heads for Brionne as Misty speaks.
"Jump in the air to dodge Brionne!" Misty calls Brionne quickly jumps in the air and dodges the Charge Beam. Once it does Magnezone appears and is sparking its body as J speaks.
"It's over for your Brionne now use Thunder!" "Brionne dodge!" Both trainers call Brionne tries to dodge but can't as it's paralyzed thanks to the Zap Cannon. Brionne then looks at Magnezone and sees that it's about to fire the Thunder Misty quickly calls for a command.
"Palafin quick use Jet Punch!" "What?!" Both trainers say. Just when Magnezone's about to fire the Thunder Palafin appears, covers its right fist in water and punches Magnezone in the face sending it flying as Misty speaks.
"Now Brionne use Whirlpool!" Misty calls Brionne summons a big Whirlpool and throws it at Magnezone sucking it inside. Magnezone begins to spin around inside of the Whirlpool until the move crashes into a wall creating a dust cloud. Palafin along with Brionne land safely back on the ground, Brionne tells Palafin thank you with the mon nodding. They then look forward as when the dust clears Magnezone appears it groans a little in pain but is overall fine it begins to spark its body more as Misty speaks.
"Darn that wasn't enough" Misty says as J speaks.
"I'll admit that was a nice try but now I'm done playing games" J says as suddenly more of her grunts appear surprising Misty, Leaf, along with their Pokémon as Leaf speaks.
"There's more of them?!" Leaf says in surprise as J speaks.
"Of course, there's more they were all searching around the cave until I sent out a distress signal a few minutes ago alerting them to come here" J says as Leaf speaks.
"What so your electronics work but our Pokegears don't?" Leaf asks as J speaks.
"The technology that we have is far more advanced than what you have on your wrist" J says as the extra grunts throw their Pokeball's forward sending out multiple Golbat's, Gliscor's, and Barraskewda's. J also sends out her Salamence who lets out a mighty roar, Leaf along with her Pokémon and Misty's other Pokémon quickly run over to Misty. Leaf then looks at Misty and speaks.
"This isn't looking good for us Misty we're completely surrounded" Leaf says with Misty nodding as she speaks.
"If only Ash and Tracey were here, we'd be able to at least battle our way through and reach the exit" Misty says with Leaf nodding as they both hope that Ash and Tracey are okay J then speaks.
"This is where you meet your end. Now all of you Attack!" J yells with her grunts nodding as their Pokémon along with J's Salamence and Magnezone charge forward Misty speaks.
"Get ready!" Misty says with Leaf nodding as their Pokémon get into battle stances. Just when the grunts Pokémon are getting close everyone hears a voice.
"Pikachu, Luxray use Thunder times 4 and Noivern use Boomburst!" The voice says as suddenly 8 large Thunders along with a Boomburst appear and easily knock away a lot of the grunts Pokémon but miss Salamence and Magnezone as they managed to dodge the attacks as J speaks.
"What now?!" J says as everyone turns around and see Ash, Pikachu, Noivern, Luxray, Tracey and Venonat standing together. Misty and Leaf get smiles on their faces as they speak.
"It's Ash and Tracey!" The 2 girls say happily as their Pokémon along with the wild Finizen cheer as Ash speaks.
"Misty, Leaf are you alright?!" Ash asks as Leaf speaks.
"We're okay!" Leaf replies as Misty speaks.
"How'd you find us? and what took you so long?!" Misty exclaims as Tracey speaks.
"Well, we used Ash's Noivern's ultrasonic waves along with Luxray's X-ray vision and my Venonat's Radar eyes to find you. The reason we took so long was because we were trying to avoid as many grunts as possible and ended up getting lost." Tracey says as Ash speaks.
"But we then saw a few of J's grunts running this way so we followed them secretly and as we were getting closer, we heard the sounds of battle and started to hurry until we made it" Ash says with the 2 girls nodding as Ash speaks.
"But now that we're here you guys don't have to worry, we'll defeat J and make it out of here!" Ash says while having a serious look on his face with his Pokémon along with Tracey and his Venonat having the same look. Misty, Leaf along with their Pokémon and the wild Finizen smile as J speaks.
"If you think that just because you showed up now means that you'll make it out of here then you're surely mistaken. You're all surrounded and will meet your end here!" J says with her Pokémon and grunts nodding as Ash speaks.
"We'll see about that!" Ash responds as he along with Tracey pull out their Pokeball's and their Pokémon along with Misty's and Leaf's Pokémon get into battle stances. Just when the battle's about to begin everyone begins to feel the cavern shaking as J speaks.
"Great what now?" J says in annoyance as everyone continues to hear the shaking until water starts to burst from the walls surprising everyone as J speaks.
"What's going on?!" J says as one of her grunts speaks.
"Madam J because of the constant battling destroying some of the walls it seems like the walls couldn't hold back the water anymore forcing it to come out and is now sinking the island!" The grunt says surprising J along with the group as the grunt speaks.
"If we don't leave now, we'll all die but if you decide to stay and fight, we understand. So, what're your orders?" The grunt says as he along with the other grunts look at her. J looks at the group along with the Finizen then looks at the water pouring in, J lets out a sigh then looks at her grunts and speaks.
"We're pulling out for now besides we can always find another pod of Finizen later" J says with her grunts nodding as they all return their Pokémon and begin starting to head out of the cavern and start running towards the surface. J returns her Magnezone then looks at the group and speaks.
"You brats got lucky today but you won't be lucky next time. Let's go Salamence" J says as she then gets on her Salamence's back as the dragon begins to fly away from the cavern and begins heading to the surface too. Once all of J's grunts are gone Ash along with Tracey and their Pokémon quickly run over to Misty and Leaf. Once they reach them Ash speaks.
"We need to get out of here fast otherwise we'll drown" Ash says as Tracey speaks.
"We need to find an exit" Tracey says as Leaf speaks.
"There's an exit over there that should lead us out of the cavern and to the surface but seeing how fast the water's pouring in I don't think we'll make it if we run" Leaf says as Misty speaks.
"In that case we'll have to swim with our Pokémon helping us" Misty says as Ash speaks.
"Yeah, that should work I'll send out Lapras and we can ride on her back" Ash says with the group nodding as they begin to return their Pokémon except for Pikachu, Togepi (who goes inside Misty's backpack), Palafin and Brionne. Once they do Ash sends out Lapras who allows the group to get on her back, as the water continues to pour in the wild Finizen say that they along with Misty's Palafin and Brionne we'll help get the group to the surface making the 4 kids happy. Before the cavern is fully filled with water the wild Finizen begin to swim forward with Palafin, Brionne, and Lapras following them closely behind. As they're swimming, they make it through the exit and are now underwater. The group are now holding their breaths while the Pokémon begin swimming towards the top, as they continue to swim Ash looks back and sees that the island is sinking to the bottom of the ocean. After that he then looks forward as he along with everyone else are now having difficulty holding their breath. The Pokémon notice this and begin swimming faster trying to reach the surface. They continue to swim until a few seconds later they all make it to the surface. The 4 kids along with Pikachu stop holding their breaths and cough for a little bit as Leaf speaks.
"We made it!" Leaf says happily as Tracey speaks.
"I was worried there for a second" Tracey says with the group nodding as they smile. Ash then hears something. He looks at the sky, sees J's plane, sees J and speaks.
"Look it's J!" Ash says making Misty, Leaf, Tracey, their Pokémon and wild Finizen look in the air. Once they do they see J staring at them with the group staring back at her a few seconds later J turns around as the plane turns invisible and begins to fly away. When the plane is gone Tracey speaks.
"And she's gone" Tracey says as Leaf speaks.
"Good I hope we don't see her again" Leaf says as Misty speaks.
"Unfortunately, I feel as though this isn't going to be the last time we see her" Misty says making Leaf sad as Ash speaks.
"Well, if we do ever see her again, we'll be ready" Ash says with the group nodding. After that 10 minutes go by, and the group have reached another island that has a Pokémon Center allowing them to heal up not just their Pokémon but also the wild Finizen too. Once that's done the group are now at the shore of the island and are currently watching Misty's Palafin (who's not in its hero form) and Brionne happily playing with the Finizen as Ash speaks.
"So, that form I saw when we were leaving the cave was Palafin's hero form and it can only turn into it whenever it's switched out then switched back in? And when the battle's over it goes back to its zero form?" Ash asks with Misty nodding as Ash speaks.
"I've never heard of a Pokémon doing that before but I've to say Palafin turning into a hero to protect its friends is cool!" Ash says as Leaf speaks.
"I know right! I had the same thoughts" Leaf says making Misty smile as Tracey speaks.
"I hate to say this, but we should probably get going soon" Tracey says with Misty nodding as she speaks.
"Palafin, Brionne we're going to leave now say goodbye to your friends!" Misty says with the 2-mons nodding as they begin telling the wild Finizen that it's time to say goodbye. The wild Finizen are sad but understand and tell not just Palafin and Brionne thank you but the group as well. After that the wild Finizen begin swimming in the direction that takes them to the Paldea region while the group wave them goodbye. Once the Finizen are gone Ash sends out Lapras who allows the group to get on her back and Lapras begins swimming. As Lapras's swimming Misty speaks.
"I hope the Finizen manage to make it back to Paldea safely." Misty says as Ash speaks.
"I'm sure they will as I don't think that they'll run into Hunter J or any other Pokémon Hunters" Ash says with Misty nodding as Leaf speaks.
"I wish we had a camera that way we could've taken a picture of them" Leaf says with Ash and Misty nodding as Tracey speaks.
"Well, it may not be a picture, but this should work" Tracey says as he shows the group a sketch of the wild Finizen playing with Misty's Brionne and Palafin who's in its Hero form. The group look at it and have smiles on their faces as Misty speaks.
"This is amazing Tracey!" Misty says with Ash and Leaf saying the same thing making Tracey happy as he speaks.
"Thanks, seeing them playing together got me inspired to sketch them also I did some other sketches too" Tracey says as he begins to show sketches of their time together so far which include the group battling Snorlax and the Grapefruit party. Ash's battle against Danny, Misty's battle against Marina, the dog and cat competition that Ash and Leaf competed in and many other things too. The group look at the sketches and are amazed by them as Leaf speaks.
"Wow! It's everything that we've experienced on our journey so far" Leaf says as Tracey speaks.
"I decided to do this so that we can look back on our journey in the Orange Islands these events may not have been taken with a camera but I hope it works for you guys" Tracey says making the 3 kids happy as they tell Tracey that it does making Tracey smile they then look forward and are excited to see what they'll experience next on their adventure throughout the Orange Islands as the chapter comes to an end.

I decided to evolve them here because for Finizen one of the requirements to evolve in the Pokémon Scarlet & Violet games is that it needs to be with friends. So, I had Finizen evolve protecting its new friends being the wild Finizen along with Misty. As for Popplio evolving I wanted to have her evolve here as I felt as though that once she saw Finizen evolve protecting its friends Popplio would do the same. Also, like Misty said, this won't be the last time the gang encounter Hunter J, but they won't see her for a while.
Next chapter will come out in 2 weeks it'll focus on the gang reaching another island were Ash and Leaf enter a battle competition to not only train up their Pokémon but also win a prize. They'll also encounter a Pokémon that was abandoned by its trainer and run into the Hexagon Brothers again.
