I lift my head as the dinner bell sounds, and with a sigh of relief I put down my sewing needle. "Your not seeing stitches in your sleep, are you sweetie?" Mama asks, and I half-groan, half-laugh. "Not yet. I'm so grateful your helping me with my wedding dress. This otherwise would have taken me weeks to make on my own."
I still have scratches from the final battle with Corvus, and even though my palms are healing nicely, my hands are still monitored in case an infection sets in. Luckily, if Mama and I stay on schedule the dress should be ready the day after tomorrow.
I'm a pretty organized person, but Mama has taken charge of the wedding details down to the food and flowers, and Adrien and I happy she's taken over. Of course, she asks for our advice, but when I walk down the aisle, all I'll probably see is Adrien, and I want the decorations to be a surprise.
Even we see each other at meals, I barely see him the rest of the day. Oh, well, once we're married, we'll see each other all the time.
Before I know it, its wedding day, and I wake up from the jitters. Sure, I'm excited to be married, but I still have twinges of nervousness.
Tikki and I are alone for now as I do my makeup, as Mama asks to do my hair. "Why am I so nervous, Tikki? I've loved Adrien forever it seems, and I've even dreamed of this day."
"This is one of the most important days of your life, Marinette. Its natural to be nervous, but once you see Adrien, you'll be just fine." "Or, I'll see him and trip over my own dress," I joke. I hug my Kwami close.
Everything is already packed into boxes, ready to go when Adrien and I get back from our honeymoon. Even my purple cat pillow has survived my childhood, with a few stitches as the stuffing would get small rips from time to time.
I barely notice Mama doing my hair, or changing into my dress. At last, at long last, Adrien (My Cat Noir) no longer have to hide secrets, or identities, or have to say goodbye when saying goodbye is the hardest part. I am glad to put those days behind me, a new beginning and a fresh start.
Papa looks handsome in his suit, though I can he's trying to hold back the tears. I squeeze his arm. "Don't let me fall in front of Adrien, kay?" I ask, a small request. "Even if you did, I doubt Adrien would let you fall." I smile, hiding a groan. "Oh, Papa."
The small chapel were the ceremony is taken place smells and looks amazing, flowers galore line the aisles.
Everyone stands and stares at me as my entrance cue is played, but once I catch sight of Adrien, everything else fades away.
Thankfully, the walk is short and Papa places my hand in Adrien's. Those beautiful green eyes lock onto mine and I can read they're saying, "Welcome Home, Princess."
Its not easy for me to stand in heels, and I feel tottering over. "Hold me," I breathe to Adrien, and with the subtlest of shifts in his position, I cling to him.
The food is wonderful and we eat as the speeches are read, tears shed. We opted not to have a dance, for Adrien promised me that will happen when we're alone.
Traveling makes me tired as our small plane chugs northward into a remote area of the forest. Its a small house nestled in the trees, but it has everything we need.
We unpack quietly, and suddenly there is nothing left to but to relax and enjoy ourselves.
"Will you hold me tonight?" I ask, as we snuggle. Adrien nods, stroking a lock of my hair, making my face turn a pink color. "Just relax and close your eyes…." he whispers in my ear.
When we wake in the morning, sunlight streams in through the bamboo shutters and I can feel Adrien's hand on my back. He shifts, signaling me he is awake, and I turn to face him.
"Good morning, Husband," I tease, lighting kissing him. "Mm, that sounds nice. And good morning, wife." "I don't think I heard you snore once," I tease. "And what would happen if I did?" "Oh, I don't know," I lightly trace patterns with my finger on his chest. "Kick you out of bed, demand Starbucks…." Adrien grins. "So, a usual morning?" "Something like that."
"What?" "Your just so beautiful." "So are you, and I'm not even a model." "Your beautiful even in Angry Bugaboo mode," he laughs. "In fact, I would like to see her this morning." I cock my head. "Really? And how are you going to do that?" "Like this…." he does a sneak poke attack, then uses his fingers to begin tickling me and I shriek with laughter. "Adrien!"
When we settle down, I catch my breath, staring up at my husband, and an intense feeling grows in my tummy. "Adrien…." I whisper.
When we finally get up, Adrien says he's hungry and we head off to the kitchen. "I could make pancakes and eggs," I suggest, checking the contents of the fridge and cupboard. "I could live off your beauty alone, My Lady, but I guess pancakes and eggs will do."
"Oh, flattery will get you everywhere!" I wield my wooden spoon. "What about kisses?" his eyes dance. "Fine," I sigh, liking how he places his warm hand on my tummy, then I shoo him out of the kitchen. I love him, but if he stays in the kitchen it will be way to much of a distraction for me.
Adrien starts singing in the shower, just as I place the food on the table. When he comes back, rubbing his hair with a towel, I joke for him to not spoil the food.
I haven't been married very long at all, and its like we've lived this way forever. Which makes sense as we are soulmates.
