Chapter 4-Revelations
Bella's feet thundered up the stone stairwell before bolting down the carpeted hallway. In her haste, she made several wrong turns before stumbling in front of her door in near panic, her hands grappling at the smooth handle before managing to fling it open. Slamming the door behind her, she leaned back heavily against its polished surface before slowly sliding down to sit on the cold floor. Belatedly she realized that everyone in the near vicinity likely heard her little emotional outburst but did not have it in her to care.
I'm not his! I can't be bonded to him when I'm Edward's mate! It makes no sense…
Thick, hot tears blurred her vision which she hastily wiped away with her free hand. Glancing down at the flowers still iron-fisted in her right hand, she threw them across the room with a frustrated shriek. Red and pink petals drifted lazily through the air in their wake from where they landed near the accent table. The violent movement caused a fresh pulse of pain from her injured wrist causing Bella to slam her left hand down on the ground in frustration.
Damn vampires! Why can't you just leave me alone?!
Tilting her head back against the door, Bella felt that odd electrical sensation slither around in her chest, and the faintest brush of spice tickle her nose as if in mockery of her anger. Lightly banging her head back against the wooden door, she rubbed at her chest in disgust.
Just shut up. Please just shut up.
Closing her eyes, she slowly took several deep breaths, bringing in more of that heady scent that numbed her senses. Instinctively, the sensation of no longer being alone became apparent and her body stiffened instantly at the realization.
Someone was on the other side of the door.
Her mind scrambled with who could be standing opposite her. Had Marcus followed her? Alec? Heidi? Each assumption rang wrong in her chest before her heart throbbed feverishly at the next suspect.
Aro?
Biting into her lips, she scrunched her eyes closed while she held her breath. Her heart was erratic at this point and she didn't doubt that his keen hearing could hear its fluttering. Several long moments passed without any sound or movement from the individual on the other side of the door. The relaxing spiced aroma finally caused her to exhale a shuddering breath and a soft wave of satisfaction brushed tantalizingly against her frayed nerves.
The unexpected sentiment caused her eyes to fly open in dread and had her clambering to her feet to wrench open the door without pausing for further thought. The hallway was inconspicuously empty with no lingering signs that anyone had been there in the first place other than the heady fragrance that was plaguing her.
Was it possibly a figment of her imagination? Had her brain conjured such a realistic imagination that it could even trick her senses?
She felt as if she was losing her grasp on reality, her thoughts blurring and fighting for dominance within her as she abruptly shut the door once more and the frenzied urge to flee solidified in her core.
I have to get out of here!
Bella dashed toward the bed to grasp her dead cell phone to shove in her back pocket as her eyes centered on the desk in front of the large window. Quickly advancing on the furniture, she pulled out its many drawers, dumping their contents on the desk, her fingers desperately searching its contents for anything that she could defend herself with. A metallic glimmer exposed a sharp, intricately crafted letter opener in the mass of haphazardly piled items. Unsteady hands curled around its handle before bringing it up for her to examine closer. It wouldn't stop a vampire, but it was better than leaving defenseless.
Holding the opener tightly in her good hand, she made her way back to the door to peek out into the quiet hallway once more before slipping out. Apprehensively looking down the length of the walkway in both directions, she flexed the mental against her sweaty palm before she turned in the direction of the main foyer. She had only briefly glimpsed the massive room in her pursuit of the grounds earlier and at that time there was a dark-haired woman stationed behind a large receptionist desk.
Bella carefully made her way back to the aforementioned room, all the while questioning how she would be able to slip past the woman. Peering around the corner of the hall, Bella was surprised to find the receptionist's desk ironically empty. Taking a step further, she glanced around the room to find that it was indeed completely barren of anyone. Not wishing to question her luck, she dove towards the colossal double doors to grip the handle and pull.
The doors swung open anticlimactically and Bella paused to stare at the open door in clear incredulity.
Do they not lock the doors?
Though Bella doubted anyone would bust into the Volturi castle, she couldn't help the nagging skepticism about how easy it was for her to make it to the doors without intervention from anyone.
It was too easy and with that ease came wariness.
Scanning the room once more, she reassured herself that no one was there before creeping through the open door and easing it closed behind her.

A finely dressed figure emerged from the shadows of the dimly lit hallway that Bella had emerged from adjusting his gold cufflinks with an amused smile lifting his pale lips as clouded red eyes stared at the closed door in unhinged enthusiasm.
"Master Aro?"
The shrouded form of Alec approached the observing eccentric vampire's side while glancing at the closed doors as well before drawing his reddened eyes back to his master questioningly.
The soft disconnected twinges of tentative hope and adrenaline surges manifesting in his chest, distinctively dissimilar from his own emotions, caused Aro's disturbing smile to widen further as he clasped his hands in front of him in excitement.
"Fetch Demetri, Alec. Che cominci."
Alec bowed his head before disappearing quickly to locate the tracker.
Aro's smile softened as he closed his eyes to draw in the lingering clean, floral scent that permeated the room after Bella's hasty departure. A soft groan slipped past his sculpted lips, the smell filling his nose and coating his tongue as he pressed his intertwined hands to his lips.
"Presto mio caro. You cannot run from this."
BPOV
Whirling around from the door, Bella fled down the stairs of the castle and dashed past the elaborately manicured lawns and shrubbery to the iron gates. Barely pausing, she quickly opened the gate to find herself at the end of the crossway of three paved roads. A quick look above the rooftops indicated the clock tower was to the left of her.
Tentative hope grew in her chest at the familiar sight and she rushed towards it, trying her best to stay discreet as she navigated the twisting pathways.
Several minutes passed as Bella pressed forward before her path opened to the clock tower's square. Trying to remember which direction she and Alice came from, she strolled towards the fountain trying to determine her current location in proximity to the town's entrance. Standing beside the soothing water raining down from the fountain turned her thoughts pensive as she looked at the coin-filled bottom of the structure. It felt like so long ago that she had thrown herself into those waters in her attempt to save Edward from his self-appointed sacrilege.
I should have let him walk out in the sun like a damn disco ball.
The bitterness burned up in her throat before she pressed it back down. Now wasn't the time to place blame and she resolved herself to wait to entertain those musings for a later date and time. Gathering her thoughts she turned from the lulling fountain and walked toward the south square entrance which looked the most familiar in her broken memories.
It took her at least another half hour before she wandered out onto the main street that led to the entrance of Volterra. Nearly sagging in relief at the slightly familiar surroundings, she braced her shoulder against the brown terracotta siding of the nearby building. Music filtered through the air from various pubs and restaurants that were scattered down the main road. Laughing voices cut through the air from open seated patios as patrons loudly conversed with each other. It was with unfiltered exasperation that Bella observed these merry-goers literally within walking distance from the ruling vampires' stronghold. The paradox of the false sense of security awarded to the city due to its fabricated past resonated in her.
They don't have a clue.
Straightening, she wandered in the direction of the main gate passing by a particularly rowdy group of heavily inebriated men who were lazing around the stepped entrance of a brightly lit establishment. Several keen whistles and what she assumed were catcalls were thrown her way as she inched around the large group.
"Ehi bella ragazza! Vieni unisciti a noi!"
"Si! Divertiamoci!"
Bella ignored the group's enthusiastic calls as she continued her track down the stone walkway, it wasn't as if she could understand what they were saying anyway. She drew herself up short as a particularly burly gentleman stepped in front of her. Nearly gagged at the overwhelming stench of alcohol that wafted off him, she quickly took notice of her newest hurdle in her impromptu escape plan. The man appeared to be mid-aged, perhaps slightly closer to Charlie's age, with a thick unkempt brown mustache and beard, a worn blue button-up shirt was stretched taunt across his broad shoulders and prominent stomach before continuing down onto dirty khaki slacks. The man's face was flushed red, likely from his alcohol consumption, and he waved his hands adamantly at her while he continued to speak various Italian phrases.
She stepped back from the man carefully before she shook her head in a fashion that indicated that she had no idea what the man was saying.
"I don't speak Italian."
"Oh, parli inglese! Come! Have a bere!"
Shaking her head more adamantly, she moved to go around the drunken man who laughed jovially at her soured expression. As she stepped to the side the man reached out to wrap a large hand around her injured wrist, causing her to gasp at the painful sensation before she focused her frustrated gaze on the drunkard who had leaned towards her with a yellowed-toothed smile.
"Sei Bellissima!"
Scrunching her nose up at the nauseating smell of alcohol and body odor wafting off of his large frame, she pulled her wrist from his pudgy fingers with a pinched grunt while taking another step back to glare at him.
"No!"
Without awaiting the man's reaction to her abrupt response, Bella swiftly skirted around him to resume her trek to the gate. Her wrapped wrist throbbed from the manhandling and she wished for another couple of painkillers to dull the ache once more. Her steps echoed softly on the paved road and tired brown eyes brightened as she caught sight of the imposing towered entrance before hastening her attempt to reach that beautiful terracotta-colored structure.
If she had paid better attention to her surroundings in her relief, she would have noticed the heavy steps trailing her before she was jarringly slung into a nearby alleyway with a grating laugh from her assailant. Her left temple slammed against something in the darkened walkway, the explosive pain caused stars to flash across her blurred vision as she crumpled to the muck-covered stones with a groan. It took another moment for her befuddled brain to register the multiple foreign snickering voices jeering down at her. Lifting her head carefully from the pavement, she blinked through the blood profusely dripping into her eye, into her parted lips, and down her chin to focus on the three figures standing at the entrance.
The large odorous man from the pub laughed with two accompanying men who appeared equally inebriated. One beefy hand was laid across his rotund stomach as he motioned at her prone form.
"Stupida puttana! Pensi di essere troppo bravo per noi?!"
Wobbling to her feet, Bella attempted to shake her head to clear the residual dizziness before she was dragged forward by a hand twisting around her braided hair. A slightly shorter man with close-cropped black hair with olive skin grinned down at her before he turned to snicker at his two friends.
"Vuoi che lo baci meglio?" The smaller man turned to look down at her, puckering his lips and producing vulgar kissing sounds as he leaned his face toward her.
Bella jerked her head back as far as she could in his grasp before she spat a glob of blood-filled saliva directly into the infuriating man's smiling face. The man loudly cursed before he slung her away from him back onto the stone to wipe at his face in disgust.
"Cagna!"
Her vision swam as she was lifted by her throat to stare at the face of the enraged overweight man who grabbed her at the pub. Bella's vision continued to darken as she peered at the man's face who grinned at her discomfort. His large hand groping at her breast through her blouse centered her thoughts as she struggled against his hold. Panic drowned her as his laugh resonated in her ears, tears leaking down her face as she kicked at him weakly.
DAMN YOU EDWARD!
A deep resonating fury burst forth in her chest and before she could completely comprehend what she was doing she was mechanically swinging the sharpened point of the letter opener still in her left hand into the taunting man's neck.
The man's grip slackened instantly as hot, bright red blood sprayed forth from the man's severed jugular in powerful spurts coating Bella's hands, arms, and chest.
Reality slowed as Bella jerked the opener from his throat with a sickening squelch. In her peripheral, she could see the other two men yelling as a tall dark figure dropped down from the rooftop beside them before they scrambled to get away. Raw unfiltered rage burned in her as Bella angled her hand back once more to drive the object back into the man's quiet form who had reached up to cover the ragged opening in his neck. All of her anger, pain, fear, and frustration exploded in a series of clumsy but purposeful stabs that she lost count of before a strong arm wrapped around her abdomen to pull her back from the man's mauled body.
Her weapon clattered to the ground from her blood-slicked fingers as she stared in horror at the man's unmoving form in the alley. The man who had pulled her away released her to collapse to her knees as she covered her mouth in a silent scream, smearing the man's lifeblood on her cheeks.
What have I done?! What did I do?!
The lingering anger melted away to leave her trembling on the ground as the man beside her advanced into the dim light with a low whistle as he kneeled next to the large man.
"You did a number on him, mio amico."
Bella stared numbly at the profile of the man, and belatedly realized she recognized him as the tall vampire that had escorted Alice out just the day prior from the throne room.
The vampire in question pulled the prone man's head to the side with his blooded matted hair to peer closer at the damage that Bella had inflicted with a rumbling chuckle.
"Nice shot. You caught his carotid artery perfectly. Would have died even without the lung punctures but overall…good work. Saves me the hassle."
Letting her blood-caked hands slide from her face she stared at the unmoving drunkard in disbelief, wide brown eyes dilated as she struggled to pull air into her overly tight chest.
"He…he is dead?"
The vampire let the man's head fall back onto the soiled bricks with a nauseating plop before he straightened up on his feet.
"Oh definitely! Not coming back after all that."
Her stomach twisted violently before she fell forward on her hands and knees to empty her stomach of its lingering contents. Violent heaves shook her frame as the last remitments of her lunch painted the stones and her vision once more went blurry.
Many moments passed before Bella's stomach settled enough for her to be aware of the large hand that was awkwardly patting her on the back. Fuzzy eyes gazed up at the decidedly uncomfortable figure of the man who had obviously approached her in a clumsy attempt to reassure her. The stiff pats on her back were near robotic, slightly too forceful between her shoulder blades, and it was evident the action was unfamiliar to him. Clearing his voice hesitantly, the man's eyes roved the rooftop.
"I do not believe we have been introduced properly, Mistress. I am Demetri."
Blinking doleful eyes up at him, her response was cut short as another hooded figure dropped down in front of them soundlessly. The hulking form of Felix glanced down at them before turning to look at the bloodied mess behind him with a small huff.
"Did I miss all the fun?"
The nonchalant tone caused Bella's chest to clench as a fresh wail was torn from her throat. Thick tears trailed down her cheeks as she lowered herself onto the filthy stone to press her forehead against her forearms.
Despite her distress, she could still perceive the slight scuffle afterward, the dull sound of something hitting against a solid object, and an abrupt cry of, "Merda!" before cool hands were pulling her upwards.
Bella was sure she looked quite a sight covered in a mixture of blood, vomit, and tears as Demetri distractedly tugged off his cloak to wrap around her slight frame tightly while he scowled at Felix's larger silhouette who was rubbing the back of his head with a disgruntled grimace.
"Take care of that while I return her. Our Master is eagerly awaiting an update. Two others need to be dealt with afterward."
Felix's petulant grunt was all that was heard before Demetri swung her up into his arms and launched themselves deftly up onto the nearby roof. The smooth movements of leaping from rooftop to rooftop caused her stomach to turn slightly despite being empty and Bella had to swallow back the thick saliva that was collecting in the back of her throat.
"Non vomitarmi addosso!" Demetri's grip shifted in panic as he tilted her forward in his hasty attempt to provide her with space in case she did indeed hurl. She couldn't stop the eye roll at the vampire's squeamish behavior despite her current situation.
"I am not going to throw up again. Besides don't you all enjoy this kind of thing?" The embittered statement had slipped out unintentionally and Bella could feel the stiffening of the vampire's arms around her upper back and legs.
A minute dragged by in silence before a clipped response broke the tense atmosphere.
"I am not an animal."
Demetri tightened his arms around her before quickening their pace back to the castle where he bypassed the main gates in favor of a discreet side door in one of the many building's alcoves where Alec stood waiting with arms crossed over his chest, a lone finger tapping against his covered elbow the only sign of his impatience. Turning at their approach, Alec's brows furrowed as he rapidly cataloged his observations before gazing at Demetri for an explanation for the disarray. The tracker gave a noncommittal shrug before he passed the wrapped girl over to Alec's waiting arms.
"Where is the Master?"
Studying Bella's head wound in closer proximity, Alec jutted his chin to the door behind him.
"He is awaiting you in the grand study with the others. Just to forewarn you, he is in quite a mood."
Demetri's face contorted as he let out a resigned groan while rolling his shoulders and heading through the door.
"Fantastico…semplicemente fantastico."
Alec laughed softly before pivoting himself to enter the castle as well while he tucked Bella in closer to his chest. Striding smoothly down the open hallway, he only paused briefly at the junction to an adjoining passageway to call out for Heidi before he continued to his destination.
Tears anew leaked from her eyes as she leaned her head heavily on Alec's shoulder.
"He is dead…I killed him…"
Alec, to his credit, did not react to her soft revelation other than to tap his fingers softly against her shoulder that was cradled in his palm. His steps did slow, however, allowing her the opportunity to collect herself, her sniffling quietening. His soft adolescent voice brushed against her ear in the silence of the corridor.
"I got you."
Turning down a familiar hall, Bella peeled her face away from Alec's neck to see Heidi waiting for the two of them at the entrance to her room. Heidi's lips pursed as she looked at the two of them before opening the door and ushering them inside. Quickly moving around them, she entered the bathroom to turn on the water before moving to the armoire to pull a long-sleeved soft pink night dress, undergarments, and a black robe from its drawers. Placing her items back in the bathroom, she approached Alec quietly while reaching her arms open toward Bella.
Shaking her head slowly, Bella wiggled in Alec's arms to be let down, which he did cautiously though he kept a steadying hand on her shoulder while she found her footing.
Heidi gave her a gentle smile before she corralled Bella to the steaming bathtub as Alec excused himself. She quickly, but carefully, helped Bella remove the ruined clothes and dropped them into an empty bin by the door. Bella couldn't find it in her to have any modesty as the vampire's cold hands turned her this way and that examining for further injury before leading her up the marbled steps into the open basin. Easing into the comforting warmth, she allowed Heidi to begin to work on cleaning the dried blood and vomit from her body. The room remained silent other than the trickling sound of the washcloth wringing out water before being dabbed against her skin. At some point, Bella watched Heidi empty the tub of the cloudy pink water before filling the tub again. Gingerly Heidi picked away at her matted hair to examine the gash in her temple before washing her dirtied hair with care to avoid the tender area. Stroking the girl's wet head, the woman tilted her head forward to gaze at her subdued expression.
"There…all clean. Let's get you dressed and I'm sure Alec has returned with some supplies."
Bella nodded demurely as Heidi helped her stand on shaky legs before assisting her down the step to wrap her in a fluffy towel. She made quick work of drying her off before gently helping her step into her undergarments and sliding the silken gown over her head. Encouraging her to push her arms through the arms of the black robe, she toweled off her hair before taking her hand to go into the sitting room once more.
A bright fire burned in the marble hearth near the wingback chairs where a tray of medical supplies had been laid out on the low table situated between them. On a smaller tray nearby was a covered dish that Bella assumed was a meal of some kind. Alec stood a distance away from the flames, his shorter figure flickering in the shadows of the varying movements of the light. On her entrance, he directed a hand for her to sit in the chair just as she had previously. Easing onto the cushion, the sense of de ja vue struck her as she saw him examine her wounds with a critical eye.
"She will need you to stitch her up, Heidi. I'll handle her wrist and bandages".
Bella stared at the fluttering flames in the fireplace as she felt the vampires set to work on their tasks. The hollowness in her heart struck her as she thought over the night's events. She had killed someone. She had given into that primal anger that had bloomed in her chest to lash out at her captor and it resulted in his death.
Even now, she could feel bursts of anger prowling in her chest, the sick satisfaction of watching that blood run through her fingers, and the glee at hearing a man's screams. The last memory caused her pause since she was fairly certain the man she killed did not have the opportunity to scream once she had slashed his neck open, but the visions filtering through her mind were so vivid that she couldn't deny their reality. Rapid scenes played in her mind of a shorter screeching olive-skinned man with dark hair, blood smeared across his face as she towered over his trapped form, her fingers sinking like butter into his neck, cutting through his vocal cords while tangling her fingers of her free hand into his innards before she wrenched them from his body with an obscene pop. Blinking, the images cleared immediately, and her room came back into focus.
Heidi must have already sutured the wound on her temple closed while she had been lost in her thoughts as Alec was now hovering over her, applying an antibiotic ointment to the injured area while he and Heidi spoke lowly to each other.
"He left immediately with Demetri. Tore the study door off its hinges, Master Caius is fit to be tied. Apparently, he destroyed several of Master Caius' personal charts in his haste to leave. Renata said the room is in quite a state."
Alec hummed while he tested the tightness of her new wrist wrap once more before responding.
"If it is the charts I'm thinking of, he needed those for his meeting with the national museum in the morning to discuss their latest restoration project in Venice. I'm sure the other Masters will hear about the inconvenience it caused him as soon as he returns tomorrow. He wanted to secure the investment before the Renaissance Soiree this weekend."
Heidi leaned her hip against the chart opposite Bella as she watched Alec place the remaining supplies on the tray beside him. She smiled at the silent woman softly before she conversationally continued on the new topic.
"Several of the covens will be arriving soon, along with the international ambassadors and dignitaries. Lady Sulpicia has been particularly tenacious in her preparations this year, we have already had to replace five interior decorators who managed to not 'bring her vision' to light. Three just in the last couple of days."
Alec stiffened slightly as Heidi shared a significant look with him before picking up the discarded tray on the low table. Bella frowned at the suggestive tone but was effectively distracted by Alec who pulled the covered dish in front of her to reveal a fragrant broth with dumplings, carrots, and zucchini.
"Eat Bella."
She swirled the spoon around the stew though couldn't bring herself to taste the delectable food in front of her. At her delay, Alec pried the spoon from her fingers to dip it into the broth and brought a steaming dumpling up to her lips.
"Open."
Indignance flared in her eyes as she glared at his smirking face when he pressed the warmed spoon against her bottom lip. Pressing her lips firmly together, Alec's expression brightened at her show of childish defiance.
"I've got all the time in the world."
Giving a particularly unladylike snort, she opened her mouth slightly to let him ease the utensil past her teeth. Taking the spoon from his grasp with an exasperated look, she brought another spoonful of broth up to her lips.
Alec's toothy smile eased her frustration as he relinquished the spoon before standing from his kneeled position. Heidi gave her another smile as they both headed toward the door.
"Take it easy and rest. You only need to call if you need us. We will bring you some breakfast in the morning but just take your time moving around."
Bella stared at both in silent appreciation and the knowing guilt of prematurely judging them ate away at consciousness. Both of them had done nothing but help her since the beginning of her unexpected stay with the Volturi and she had done nothing but continuously question their motives based on her preconceptions of human-drinking vampires thanks to Edward's guidance.
A tired smile lifted the corners of her mouth as she nodded her head in acquiescence. She had a lot to think about, but she was too exhausted to focus on anything other than the two individuals in front of her.
"Thank you."
APOV
The house was now silent as Demetri tossed the mangled remains of two men onto the bed in the center of the room. The impact caused the springs to creak loudly under the combined weight as he turned to douse the floor with lighter fluid, generously applying the liquid to the bodies. While incidents within the walls of Volterra were extremely rare, they did occur from time to time and the Volturi had perfected their techniques to cover up unfortunate slip-ups. A couple of well-placed phone calls to the right officials and an easily explainable house fire would be all that would be needed to write off the event as an unforeseeable accident.
The brooding figure of Aro stood at the foot of the bed as he flicked his eyes over the mutilated body of the Italian man lying face up on the duvet. The man's disemboweled intestines were draped over the edge of the mattress to dip down onto the floor. His once handsome mouth had been crushed, the jaw destroyed effortlessly in Aro's hand. The man's memories of Isabella playing on repeat across his mind caused venom to pool in the back of his mouth. The lewd thoughts that the man conjured ultimately resulted in his destruction. Aro could almost feel the sensation of Bella's blood-tinged saliva dripping down his own face while she struggled in his palm as he relived the fresh memory.
Sharpened teeth clenched in a disgusted snarl while he flicked the dripping remnants of blood that had been steadily pooling on the dusty floor from his fingertips. The man's memories pulled forth the visage of his bulky friend pawing at Isabella's breasts causing his vision to redden, and he almost regretted that Isabella had the opportunity to end the man before he could pass his own judgment on his damned soul.
How dare he touch her?! Her?!
Aro had been content with Isabella's entertaining attempt to flee her fate as he knew Demetri could easily track her despite not being able to lock in on her mind. She was adorably clumsy, like a newborn fawn, in her endeavors and Aro would grant her the illusion of freedom that she felt was needed. His guard had been given explicit instruction to allow her free reign in Volterra and only to step in if a situation escalated past the point of her management. Aro briefly considered ripping Demetri's own head from his incompetent shoulders for allowing the situation to reach the point it did, though he was too valuable an asset to haphazardly discard. From Demetri's own thoughts, he was able to gather the vampire's indecision on what point to intervene and his guilt at the girl's emotional backlash following the experience.
This reasoning did little to calm his ire as he frigidly observed Demetri approach him, his own head downcast in subservience. Dark remembrances saturated Aro's mind, voices, pleas, and screams meshing together from millennia past into an encompassing crescendo that reverberated in his consciousness. The ceaseless yearning to silence those dominating voices weaved into Aro's mind and it took a moment for Demetri's soft murmurings to interrupt the swirling turbulence within its recesses.
"It is ready, Master Aro."
Turning his baleful red eyes back to the room to study the blood splatter across the faded walls and ceiling, he strolled closer to the mattress to meet the unseeing gaze of the Italian who had thought to lay a finger on his possession. The man's frantic screams felt like a sweet melody in Aro's memories before he had been silenced, perhaps too quickly.
"Your symphony will be treasured."
Meeting Demetri's eye over his cloaked shoulder, he gave a single nod before turning toward the open window as the room burst into flame.
