"You're going out?" Luna asked upon seeing his brother about to leave.
"Yes...? Didn't you see my latest yeet?" Earth raised an eyebrow, adjusting the sunglasses on his head.
"I'm not always on social media..." Luna huffed, crossing his arms, "Just, uh- be back before ten this time, alright?"
"Pfft- okay, mom." Earth rolled his eyes, swinging the front door open and nearly slamming it shut.
Luna winced, sighing, "Love you too... maybe I can invite Mercury over."
Ring ding-ding!
The cafe door rang as Earth pulled it open. Taking a step inside, he immediately made way for his usual spot by the front window. Sitting down with a light huff, he pulled out his phone and waited, scrolling through NewTude or TickTalk to pass the time.
Earth heard the bell of the door ring, yet didn't pay any mind to it as he was mildly entertained by something he was watching.
"Earth!" A voice snapped him out of his trance, prompting him to look up.
"Oh- hey, Mars!" Earth grinned, glancing up at his childhood best friend. He put his phone aside and gestured to the seat across him, "What are you doing here?"
"I saw your yeet last night and wanted to stop by." Mars messed with the small UFOs dangling from his ears, "What exactly happened with your manager?"
Earth bit the inside of his mouth, "Well-"
"Omigosh, excuse me, but are you Terra?" A group of teenagers walked up to the table.
Earth put on his charm, winking at them while he smirked, "Why yes, yes I am."
The fangirls squeaked, one holding something out, "Can we get your autograph!?"
"And a picture!?"
"Of course." Earth got up, signing and taking pictures with them all the while Mars sat there, annoyed.
Once the group of fangirls went away, Earth sat back down, immediately noticing the change in his friend, "What's wrong?"
"Oh, nothing." Mars huffed, glancing at the clock on the wall, "Actually, I just remembered there's a little get-together at Jupiter's place today, so I'm going to head there."
"There is? How come I wasn't invited?" Earth raised an eyebrow.
"Uh, you were. We've been aware for a week now; you must've been distracted when I told you."
"Oh." Earth frowned.
"Anyway, I'll see you later, dude." Mars waved to him, Earth just putting his hand up as he watched his friend walk away.
Earth fiddled with his thumbs, letting out a small sigh as he grabbed his phone.
It was noon; officially lunchtime.
He was getting hungry- might as well order something while he continued waiting.
...
Earth pushed his bowl away, having finished the fruit salad. He grabbed the cup containing his espresso, tilting it back and forth lightly before sipping some of it.
"Hello!"
Earth coughed, nearly spitting out the hot drink. He managed to gulp it down, wincing as it scorched down his throat. Earth sat up, turning to glare at the person who startled him.
"What's-!?" He stopped, his eyes analyzing the person's dark-toned face, "Wait, aren't you that stagehand from yesterday?"
"Yepperino! Name's Neptune!" The person reached his arm out, "Nice to meet you, Terra!"
"It's Earth." Blue and yellow eyes scanned Neptune; blue hair that was messily put into a low bun, strands of hair escaping its grasp, turquoise eyes, and some kind of blue substance stained his cheek.
"It's paint." Neptune seemed to notice the other staring at him, "My cousin is a great artist!"
"Uh-huh..." Earth nodded, "And, uh- how can I help you?"
Neptune collapsed into the seat across from him, "Well, I saw your latest yeet, and I wanted to apply."
Earth's eyes widened, then he laughed- laughed at the ridiculousness of it all. He hit his hand on the table, which was sure to earn him a bruise later.
Yet, he soon realized that Neptune wasn't laughing. Instead, the other was tilting his head, frowning.
Earth's laughter ceased as he wiped away his tears, "You're... serious?"
"Why wouldn't I be? I mean, this is a serious matter, isn't it?" Neptune raised an eyebrow, smiling.
Earth cleared his throat, "Right." He hummed, "Why don't you tell me about yourself?"
...
'And that should be the last of them...' Earth sighed, 'That makes four overall, but who to choose?'
He got up from his spot at the cafe table, the afternoon sunlight shining through the window. He grabbed his bag and made his way for the exit, ignoring the waitress at the register telling him to have a good day.
As he walked along the sidewalks of Apodis, he suddenly remembered what Mars had said to him earlier.
'Hangout at Jupiter's...' He hummed, 'Might as well pay them a visit.'
Jupiter's house wasn't that far from where Earth lived, probably fifteen minutes to walk there, so Earth pulled out his earbuds and started listening to his music.
"I'm taking the start as I open the book; don't care if it's a draft, I make my own rules..."
Earth hummed along to the melody as he glanced between the street lights and cars streaming past.
"I'm an untouchable target 'cause I'm way far from you. I'm an unstoppable rocket heading straight to the moon."
Earth bumped into someone, yet didn't hear the person's complaint. This was a frequent occurrence.
"I'm taking my chance 'cause life may be cruel- I'm no guilty for it and I got nothing to lose."
The amateur singer tapped his foot impatiently as he waited for a crosswalk light. He huffed when it finally changed.
"Baby, will you follow me for a ride in ecstasy? Oh... baby, will you follow me for a ride in ecstasy? Oh..."
"Hey!" Earth found himself shouting as a kickball nearly put him off his balance, "Watch it!"
"Sorry!" The group of kids yelled in unison as they fought for control of the ball.
"Proteus, catch!" One of them spoke once she had the ball.
'Kids...' Earth thought, continuing his way.
...
Ten minutes later, he reached Jupiter's house. It was more of a mansion, but Jupiter was modest when it came to where he lived.
Reaching the door, Earth rang the doorbell.
'3, 2, 1-'
The door opened, Jupiter looking as presentable as ever with his brown vest, orange and mahogany striped tie, and white button-up shirt underneath. His pale orange hair was tied into a low ponytail.
"Earth? Well, this is a surprise." Jupiter spoke, adjusting his glasses, "Mars said you were busy with hiring a new manager."
Earth shrugged, "Eh, there weren't many that applied, so I finished early."
"Well, you're just in time for dinner. Come on in!" Jupiter moved aside to let Earth inside.
As soon as Earth entered the threshold, he was welcomed with the aroma of pinecones and thistles, most likely emanating from the scented candles around the house.
He stepped into the living room, his eyebrow perking up as his eyes landed on his brother laughing and hanging out with the other guests, "Luna? What are you doing here?"
Luna paused from where he sat on the armrest of the couch, turning his head to face Earth. He smiled, "Oh, hey, Earth! Mercury invited me over."
"I figured it was better than leaving him alone," Mercury spoke.
"Oh." Earth frowned.
"Well, hey!" A voice called as a head of blue hair came into view, "We seem to keep running into each other."
Earth's frown deepened, "Oh, it's you... Neptune, right?"
"Yep!"
"You know each other?" Jupiter spoke, eyeing the two of them.
"We only met last night- at my concert," Earth responded.
"That reminds me." Jupiter turned to the shorter, "Earth, there's something I wanted to talk to you about."
"What is it?" Earth questioned.
"Well-"
"Hey, if it isn't my brother who won't return my calls!" A rough voice yelled, getting the attention of the others.
Earth sighed, his eyebrows twitching as he turned, "It's nice to see you too, Venus."
