It was a typical school day for Usagi and Naru. The few youma attacks were a pain but with them fighting together there was no way they could lose.
Usagi was currently bummed out because her teacher and parents were considering giving her cram school due to her poor grades.
"Cram school? Really? Isn't regular school enough?" Usagi asked
"Well how else are you going to improve your grades?" Naru asked
"What I need is a tutor. But who do I ask?" Usagi asked
"You could ask Umino" Naru suggested
"Ugh...I'd rather not. He's nice and all but he's socially awkward" Usagi said
"Who else can we ask then?" Naru asked
The two of them then spotted a crowd of students looking at the testing scores and wondered why it was such a big deal.
"First place again" One female student said
"How does she do it?" A male student asked
"I tried asking her for help but she said she was busy" Another female student said
Usagi and Naru looked at each other and wondered why they were talking about. Suddenly a girl with short blue hair walked past them, reading a book.
"Who was that?" Naru asked
Usagi seemed to recognize her.
"Hey! I recognize her. Her name is Ami Mizuno. She's the top student here" Usagi said
Naru seemed to recall a student by that name too.
"Oh right! Wasn't she rumored to have an IQ of 300 or something?" Naru asked
"That's right! She been at the top for awhile now" Usagi said
Naru seemed to have an idea.
"Hey why don't you have Ami tutor you?" Naru asked
"Really? I don't know" Usagi said unsure
"Come on Usagi, we have no one else to turn to. Besides with her teaching you there's no way you'll fail another test" Naru said
"My concern is that she's always alone. I'm afraid she's not very social" Usagi said
"Why is that your concern?" Naru asked
"I just want someone who's friendly. I don't end up with someone as strict as a military commander" Usagi said
"Look lets just go ask her and if she says no then we'll have to settle for cram school" Naru said
"Aw man" Usagi complained
Usagi found the genius girl sitting on a bench eating her lunch and was still reading a book. This girl studies even when eating? At this point she wouldn't be surprised if she somehow managed to study while she was sleeping.
"Excuse me" Usagi said
The blue haired genius looked up and saw the blond twin tailed girl there.
"How can I help you?" Ami asked
"You're Ami Mizuno aren't you?" Usagi asked
The blue haired girl just nodded and then started to talk to her.
"Are you here to call me arrogant or narcissistic?" Ami asked
Usagi was taken back by what she said.
"I'm sorry?" Usagi asked
"Or are you here cause you need to borrow my notes?" Ami asked
"I'm not" Usagi replied
"What do you want from me then?" Ami asked
Wow, that did not go how Usagi thought it would. It seems like Ami has been used in the past and has a little bit of a trust issue.
"Well you see my grades aren't the greatest and-" Usagi started before being stopped by Ami.
"So you want me to do your homework for you?" Ami asked
"Huh?" Usagi asked
"Or do you want me to take the tests for you?" Ami asked
"Um...no I just need a tutor" Usagi said
Ami was not expecting that. No one has ever asked her to tutor them.
"It may have to wait. I have cram school" Ami said
"Surely you have some time. After all cram school doesn't start in quite a while so why not hang out with me for a bit. We could go to the arcade" Usagi said
"I suppose" Ami said
"Great I'll grab my friend and we'll be on our way there after school. I'm Usagi Tsukino by the way" Usagi said before leaving.
After school Ami was waiting for them by the gate. She still wasn't sure why she was doing this. They were probably just going to ditch her here anyways.
"Hope we didn't keep you waiting" Usagi said as she appeared
Ami was surprised. They actually came.
"Ami, this is my best friend, Naru Osaka" Usagi said
"Nice to finally meet you Ami" Naru said
"L-likewise" Ami said
Ami's heart started to feel warm for some reason. Perhaps this is what it was like to have friends.
All three of them went to the arcade and Ami somehow managed to get the high score on the game and realized she needed to go and bolted but left a floppy disk behind. They tried to catch her but she was already gone.
"Too bad we couldn't catch her in time" Naru said
"I sense a weird energy from her" A voice said
The two of them turned around and saw that it was the cat duo, Luna and Artemis.
"Luna, Artemis, what are you two doing here?" Naru asked
"Looking for the other precure obviously" Artemis said
"Can I see that floppy disk?" Luna asked
"Um sure" Usagi said as she handed it to her.
They played it on a computer and it started to play a hypnosis but to Usagi and Naru it was felt like nails on chalkboard. They covered their ears to drown out the sound.
"Just as I thought. This is the dark kingdom's work and it looks like Ami is working for them" Luna said
"No way, that can't be true" Usagi said
"She was so nice and was having fun" Naru said
"You're going to have the face the facts girls" Luna said
Artemis decided to step in.
"Now hold on Luna, its too soon to say that she's working for the dark kingdom" Artemis said
"Why else would she have this?" Luna asked
"Its possible that the dark kingdom tricked her. We don't even know the reason why she had it and the only way to find out is to learn the truth from her" Artemis said
Luna knew Artemis was right and looked into the cram school that Ami went to and told the precure to go to her. With their mission clear the heroes went on their way to the school and entered the place and saw the hallways were empty.
"I thought cram school would be more crowded than this. Maybe everyone hates it after all" Usagi said
"I don't think so. Something's wrong here" Naru said
They visited some classrooms and saw that the students there were under hypnosis and didn't wake up. Ami was one of them and Usagi tried to shake her awake.
"Ami! Ami! Wake up!" Usagi said
Somehow this seemed to have worked and the blue haired girl came back to her senses and saw that the two girls from earlier were there.
"Usagi, Naru? What are you two doing here?" Ami asked
"Never mind that. Are you okay?" Naru asked
"Yes I'm fine" Ami said
She then looked around and saw that the other students were still under a hypnosis.
"What's going on?" Ami asked
Footsteps had approached them from behind and saw that it was a woman with black hair and glasses.
"Its forbidden for outsiders to come in during class" The teacher said
"You're the one who did this to them!" Naru said
The teacher smirked and then transformed into some kind of red demon. The three girls made a run for it and made it outside but a fence had them surrounded and this monster was here to take their energy.
"It's over" Garoben said
Luna and Artemis were hiding nearby and wished the precure luck on their mission.
"Get behind us, Ami" Usagi said
Ami wasn't sure what they were planning but she did what they told her to do.
The two of them the brought out their broaches.
"Precure planet power"
The two of them transformed into their cure forms and it shocked Ami that these two ordinary looking girls were the legendary precure that she had heard so much about.
"Precure! I'll happily take your energy first!" Garoben said
The youma charged at them and they charged back at the monster in response its arm morphed into a sword and tried to slash them but they avoided the attack. Earth kneed its chin causing her to stagger backwards and that's when Moon kicked her face, sending her flying backwards but managed to recover quickly.
"Annoying bugs!" Garoben yelled
She then summoned a bunch of knives out of thin air and hurled them towards the heroes. They jumped to avoid the attack but thats what the youma wanted them to do and transformed her right hand into a giant hammer and smacked them, sending them flying across the field.
Ami gasped when she saw that they got hurt from that attack. They managed to get up quickly but the monster used the same attack on them again and this time she tried to hammer them into the ground but both cures managed to managed to block it in time. The youma managed to morph its left hand into a club and smacked them and sent them flying to the side of the building.
The battle went on for a while and the cures managed to get some hits in but the youma had damaged them more. Ami had been watching for a while now and relived her memories with these girls and all the fun they had at the arcade and shook her head. She bolted towards the battle and stood in front of the cures with her arms spread out like a shield.
"That's enough! Leave them alone!" Ami said
"Ami run!" Moon said
"We'll handle this monster" Earth said
"NO!" Ami said
The cures looked at her in shock when she raised her voice towards them.
"The two of you were so nice to me. You became my friends and I didn't realize it until now. Having friends like you two makes my heart feel warm and I want it to continue that way. I'll protect you two no matter what because that's what friends do!" Ami said
Ami was emitting a precure type of aura and Luna took that time to make a broach for her and tossed it to her. Ami saw the cat and was shocked that she could talk but it was telling her to yell the words that Moon and Earth had vocalized earlier. Ami did just that and gave it a shot.
"Precure planet change"
Ami's short blue hair extended down to her waist. It formed into two pigtails on the side of her head while the rest of it flowed down her back. She now wore dark blue gloves and dark blue go go boots. She wore a frilly skirt with two layers. The first layer was dark blue while the second one was light blue. She wore a dark blue top with light frilled borders. Her midriff was left exposed. She wore a white headband on her head and a dark blue choker. She wore rain drop earrings and light blue lipstick. The broach was on her chest along with light blue ribbon while a royal blue ribbon was on the back of her skirt.
Ami then started to say a catchphrase.
"Using wisdom to help those in need, Cure Mercury"
"Cure" Moon started
"Mercury" Earth finished
Garoben was shocked at first but wasn't worried since another cure wasn't going to make a difference and started the same tactic on her. Mercury jumped and that's when the youma used her hammer to attack her but Mercury had studied her attack patterns and was ready. She kicked the hammer upwards, repelling the attack. The youma formed her arm into an axe and attacked her but she managed to avoid the swings. Earth took this time to kick the monster on the side and Moon managed to punch its back causing her to stagger. That was Mercury's cue to attack.
"Precure: Mercury Blizzard"
Mercury unleashed a powerful blizzard attack and that was enough to defeat the youma in one shot. Moon and Earth expressed joy that another cure had been awakened and looked forward to working with her and Moon still needed a tutor and Mercury was glad to help her with her studies.
