Percy decided to leave the Minotaur horn in his cabin, his change of clothes and a toothbrush to stuff in a backpack Grover had found for him. The camp store loaned him one hundred dollars in mortal money and twenty golden drachmas. These coins were as big as Girl Scout cookies and had images of various Greek Gods stamped on one side and the Empire State Building on the other. Chiron said the coins might come in handy for non-mortal transactions. He gave both Annabeth and Percy each a canteen of nectar and Ziploc bags full of ambrosia squares, to be used only in emergencies, if they were seriously hurt.
"It was a God food, Percy, It would cure you of almost any injury, but it was lethal to mortals. Too much of it would make a half-blood very, very feverish. An overdose would burn you up, literally" Chiron said. Percy looks at the nectar to Nathan with his own bag of medicine and other camp-like supplies from the campers that he helped.
"Does this work for you?" Percy asked him, Nathan shakes his head holding his mouth.
"That makes me vomit, no one knows why, till now" Nathan spoke out, first trying the demi-god healing potion, only to get stomach pains and vomiting acid.
Not a good day for Nathan.
Sydney brings her harpy whip, a magic make-up bag from her Aphrodite friends and a designer back bag with Sydney putting more stuff then what could possibly fit in it.
"Road trip expansion bag, made from Charlee, isn't he the sweetest" Sydney gusts at her backpack, Percy recalls Charles is the head counsellor of Hephaestus and.
"Isn't he Silena's boyfriend?" Percy asked, recalling her gossip of the Head counsellor of Aphrodite dating Charles, but Sydney waves him off.
"It's nothing but a gift I'm sure Silenne won't mind" Sydney has a cute smile, making Percy sign at her gossiping and bitching ways, at least she stops moping about her chaos parent.
Annabeth was bringing her magic Yankees cap, which she told Percy had been a twelfth-birthday present from her mom. She carried a book on famous classical architecture, written in Ancient Greek, to read when she got bored, and a long bronze knife, hidden in her shirt sleeve.
Grover wore his fake feet and his pants to pass as human. He wore a green Rasta-style cap, because when it rained his curly hair flattened and you could just see the tips of his horns. His bright orange backpack was full of scrap metal and apples to snack on. In his pocket was a set of reed pipes his daddy goat had carved for him, even though he only knew two songs: Mozart's Piano Concerto no. 12 and Hilary Duff's "So Yesterday," both of which sounded pretty bad on reed pipes.
Kate walks with a duffle bag filled with her clothes and weapons, glaring at the few Ares members holding her stuff. The Ares cabin has been quiet lately. Some look at Kate in awe while others look at her with fear.
"Thank you for holding my stuff," Terry said, letting Alabaster hold his bag.
"No problem my friend, after hearing that prophecy you need all the help you can get" Alabaster said, while Terry grinned while holding his glasses.
"Oh course, hope you remember that prophecy I gave you" Terry spoke, getting a nod from Alabaster who hands the bag, before Terry looked at Nathan and Percy watching him.
"What?" Terry asked, looking at the Percy sign at him, Terry has been getting more attention since the prophecy incident, everyone seeing him as the next oracle and Terry making all kinds of predictions.
No one can tell if he bullshiting or not.
"You're up to something" Nathan accused him but Terry smirks.
"Oh dear Nathen, I'm always up to something" Terry smirks at Nathan while he growls at him.
"Enough let go" Kate gets between them, Nathan glares at Terry but he only waves back at Alabaster with a wink.
They waved good-bye to the other campers, took one last look at the strawberry fields, the ocean, and the Big House, then hiked up Half-Blood Hill to the tall pine tree.
Chiron was waiting for them in his wheelchair. Next to him stood a guy Percy had seen when he was recovering in the sick room. He was wearing a chauffeur's uniform, so Percy could only see extra peepers on his hands, face and neck.
"This is Argus. He will drive you into the city, and, err, well, keep an eye on things." Chiron said Terry looked at him.
"How's your master doing?" Terry asked, Argus looked at him, not saying much.
"Oh she must be really scared now isn't she" Terry grins at him, again Argus said nothing.
"Enough Terry" Kate stopping whatever he is doing, Argus nods to Kate in thanks.
They heard footsteps behind them. They saw Luke come running up the hill, carrying basketball shoes.
"Hey! Glad I caught you." Luke said. Annabeth blushed, the way she always did when Luke was around while Sydney smiles at her, making her look away.
"Just wanted to say good luck," He said to Percy. "And I thought … Maybe you could use these." He handed Percy the sneakers, which looked pretty normal.
"I could pick better shoes than that Luke" Sydney spoke out, but Luke smiled.
"Maia!" Luke said, White bird's wings sprouted out of the heels, startling Percy so much, He dropped them. The shoes flapped around on the ground until the wings folded up and disappeared.
"Awesome!" Grover said.
"Holy shit" Nathan gasps.
"Weird," Kate spoke.
"Wing shoes from Hermes himself" Terry looks intrigued, Sydney picks up the shoe.
"Do they come in blue?" Sydney asked, looking at the shoe over, Luke smiled.
"Those served me well when I was on my quest. Gift from Dad. Of course, I don't use them much these days..." He said with a sad expression. Percy didn't know what to say but Sydney gave Luke a hug.
"We appreciate your contribution Luke" Sydney gives Luke a kiss on the check, he blushes a little, Annabeth glares at her.
"Yeah, Listen, Percy, guys..." Luke looked uncomfortable. "A lot of hopes are riding on you, so just ... Kill some monsters for me, okay?"
"Don't worry with Percy's luck, we might just run into a few," Terry said calmly.
"Hey!" Percy shouted, the others chuckled, Kate shakes her head.
"We're wasting time, hurry up" Kate calls out, walking away.
Percy and Luke shook hands. Nathan nods to Luke who nods back, Luke patted the Grover's head between his horns, and then gave a goodbye hug to Annabeth, who looked like she might pass out while Sydney gave a kiss on his other check.
Terry gives Luke a hug but lean close, Luke eyes widened in shock before Terry shuts him up. After Luke is gone, Sydney turns to Annabeth.
"You're hyperventilating" Sydney said to her,
"Am not."
"You let him capture the flag instead of you, didn't you?" Percy jumps in.
"Oh ... Why do I want to go anywhere with you two?" Annabeth stomped down the other side of the hill, where a white SUV waited on the shoulder of the road. Kate and Argus were already there.
Percy picked up the flying shoes and he had a sudden bad feeling. He looked at Chiron.
"I won't be able to use these, will I?" Percy asked, Chiron shook his head.
"Luke meant well, Percy. But taking to the air ... That would not be wise for you." Chiron explains. Nathan looks at the shoes but shakes his head.
"I get light headed when flying, Terry?" Nathan shakes his head looking at the glass wearing chaos demi-god.
"I don't need those shoes, I have my own wings thank you very much" Terry spoke, looking around with a shifty look. Percy between the two, but then he got an idea.
"Hey, Grover. You want a magic item?"
Grover's eyes lit up. "Me?" Pretty laced the sneakers over his fake feet. "Maia!" He shouted.
He got off the ground okay, but then fell over sideways so his backpack dragged through the grass. The winged shoes kept bucking up and down like tiny broncos.
"Practice, You just need practice!" Chiron called after him.
"Keep you balanced Grover" Nathan calls out while Terry nods to Percy.
"Smart, he is less likely to get hit" Terry sees what Percy is doing.
"Aaaaa!" Grover went flying sideways down the hill like a possessed lawn mower, heading toward the van.
Before Percy could follow, Chiron caught his arm.
"I should have trained you better, Percy. I know Naruto doesn't need training, but you," he said. "If only I had more time. Hercules, Jason—they all got more training."
"That's okay. I have my friends and my pen sword." Percy said, patting the pen sword he still had, Chiron nodding.
"Percy, that's a gift from your father. I've kept it for years, not knowing you were who I was waiting for. But the prophecy is clear to me now. You are the one."
"The sword has a long and tragic history that we need not go into," Chiron told him. "Its name is Anaklusmos."
"Riptide," Percy translated, surprised that Ancient Greek came so easily.
"Use it only for emergencies," Chiron said, "and only against monsters. No hero should harm mortals unless absolutely necessary, of course, but this sword wouldn't harm them in any case."
"What do you mean it wouldn't harm mortals? it's a sword?" Percy asked, feeling his sword.
"The sword is celestial bronze. Forged by the Cyclopes, tempered in the heart of Mount Etna, cooled in the River Lethe. It's deadly to monsters, to any creäture from the Underworld, provided they don't kill you first. But the blade will pass through mortals like an illusion. They simply are not important enough for the blade to kill. And I should warn you: as a demigod, you can be killed by either celestial or normal weapons. You are twice as vulnerable." Chiron spoke while Percy frowned.
"Good to know." Percy said, patting the pocket to feel his pen.
"You can't," Chiron said.
"Can't what?" Percy asked.
"Lose the pen," Chiron said. "It is enchanted. It will always reappear in your pocket. Try it."
Percy was wary, but he threw the pen as far as he could down the hill and watched it disappear in the grass.
"It may take a few moments," Chiron said. "Now check your pocket."
Percy noticed the pen was there.
"Okay, that's extremely cool," Percy admitted. "But what if a mortal sees me pulling out a sword?"
"Mist is a powerful thing, Percy." Chiron smiled.
"Mist? right that mist" Percy remembering the mist controlling all the mortals.
"Chiron ..." Percy said. "When you say the Gods are immortal... I mean, there was a time before them, right?"
"Four ages before them, actually. The Time of the Titans was the Fourth Age, sometimes called the Golden Age, which is definitely a misnomer. This, the time of Western civilization and the rule of Zeus, is the Fifth Age."
"So was Chaos the first age then?" Percy asked, Chiron pursed his lips.
"Not even I'm aware of it…them I mean, child, but I know the time of titans, it was a time of darkness and savagery for mortals. Kronos, the lord of the Titans, called his reign the Golden Age because men lived innocent and free of all knowledge. But that was mere propaganda. The Titan king cared nothing for your kind except as appetisers or a source of cheap entertainment. It was only in the early reign of Lord Zeus, when Prometheus the good Titan brought fire to humanity, that your species began to progress, and even then Prometheus was branded a radical thinker. Zeus punished him severely, as you may recall. Of course, eventually the Gods warmed to humans, and Western civilization was born" Chiron explains.
"So as long as Western civilization is alive, so are the gods. And if ... .Chao were to came" Percy thought looking at his friend.
Chiron gave him a sad smile.
"No one knows how long the Age of the West will last, Percy. The Gods are immortal, yes. But then, so were the Titans. They still exist, locked away in their various prisons, forced to endure endless pain and punishment, reduced in power, but still very much alive. May the Fates forbid that the Gods should ever suffer such a doom or that we should ever return to the darkness and chaos of the past. All we can do, child, is follow our destiny." Chiron states as Percy nods
Walking away to join the others in the car, they saw under the pine tree, Chiron was now standing in full horseman form, holding his bow high in salute.
Percy turns to see Terry trying to chat with Argus while Nathan with Sydney and Kate beside him.
Argus drove them out of the countryside and into western Long Island. Percy felt weird to be on the highway again, Annabeth and Grover are on his left with Nathan, Sydney and Kate on his right. Terry is in the front seat, as if they were normal Carpoolers.
After two weeks at Half-Blood Hill, the real world seemed like a fantasy. Nathan noticed Percy was staring at every McDonald's, every kid in the back of his parents' car, every billboard and shopping mall.
"You right Percy?" Nathan asked him.
"So far so good," Percy said. "Ten miles and not a single monster." Annabeth gave him an irritated look.
"It's bad luck to talk that way, seaweed brain." Annabeth spoke but Kate turned to her.
"It doesn't hurt to be cautious, weakling" Kate spoke with a glare, Annabeth turned away. Percy looks at her.
"Remind me again—why do you hate me so much?" Percy asked.
"I don't hate you."
"You fail at hiding it" Kate points out, Annabeth folded her cap of invisibility.
"Look ... We're just not supposed to get along, okay? Our parents are rivals." Annabeth tries to reason.
"Why?" Percy asked.
"How many reasons do you want? One time my mom caught Poseidon with his girlfriend in Athena's temple, which is hugely disrespectful. Another time, Athena and Poseidon competed to be the patron God for the city of Athens. Your dad created some stupid saltwater spring for his gift. My mom created the olive tree. The people saw that her gift was better, so they named the city after her." Annabeth sighed.
"I love olives." Sydney spoke, annoying Annabeth
"Oh, forget it." Annabeth spoke while Percy turned to Terry.
"Hey Terry, what's more useful olive tree or saltwater spring?" Percy asked him, Terry thinks.
"Well olive trees are useful as food, wood and even the oil as well however saltwater springs would be useful to make salt, which his needed for the human health, persevering food, cleaning as well, so long term could be the olive tree" Terry thought out, Annabeth smirk but Terry turned to her.
"Both your parents are assholes anyway with many enemies who love eating their demigod children" Terry warns them
"I wouldn't go to love ancient Athens either, they treated women horribly and enslaved not just them but others as well, same with Sparta but their women gained a certain degree of independence" Terry spoke burst Annabeth bubble.
"That can't be right" Nathan said to Terry who shrugs.
"History sucked for everyone, no point in crying about some dead guy" Terry shrugs,
Traffic slowed them down in Queens. By the time they got into Manhattan it was sunset and starting to rain.
Argus dropped them at the Greyhound Station on the Upper East Side, not far from Percy's mom and Gabe's apartment. Percy saw typed to a mailbox was a soggy flyer with his picture on it: HAVE YOU SEEN THIS BOY? the chaos four notice, but Percy ripped it down before Annabeth and Grover could notice.
"I'll make a call" Terry spoke to Percy, nodding in thanks.
Argus unloaded their bags, made sure they got bus tickets, and then drove away, the eye on the back of his hand opening to watch them as he pulled out of the parking lot. Kate noticed that Percy was looking off into the distance, probably thinking about his home.
Grover shouldered Percy's backpack.
"You want to know why she married him, Percy." Grover said.
"Were you reading my mind or something?" Percy stared at him.
"Just your emotions." Grover shrugged.
"Guess I forgot to tell you satyrs can do that. You were thinking about your mom and your step-dad, right?" Grover explains.
Percy nodded, wondering what else Grover might've forgotten to tell him.
"Your mom married Gabe for you," Grover told me. "You call him 'Smelly,' but you've got no idea. The guy has this aura...Yuck. I can smell him from here. I can smell traces of him on you, and you haven't been near him for a week." Percy gasps in disgust while Nathan gives him some wipes which Percy took.
"Thanks," Percy wipes his face with the wipes.
"You should be grateful, Percy. Your stepfather smells so repulsively human he could mask the presence of any demigod. As soon as I took a whiff inside his Camaro, I knew: Gabe has been covering your scent for years. If you hadn't lived with him every summer, you probably would've been found by monsters a long time ago. Your mom stayed with him to protect you. She was a smart lady. She must've loved you a lot to put up with that guy—if that makes you feel any better." Grover states but Kate glares at him.
It didn't, but Percy forced himself not to show it. 'I'll see her again,' He thought. 'She isn't gone.'
But Kate nudged him.
"Well save her Percy, I promise you" Kate spoke with Percy thanking her.
Percy started a little more into the distance until they had to move on.
The rain kept coming down. The group got bored waiting for the bus and decided to play some Hacky Sack with one of Grover's apples. Annabeth was good, bouncing the apple off her knee, her elbow, and her shoulder, with Sydney doing good herself. Percy wasn't too bad either.
The game ended when Percy tossed the apple toward Grover and it got too close to his mouth. In one mega goat bite, their Hacky Sack disappeared—core, stem, and all. Grover blushed. He tried to apologise, but everyone was too busy cracking up.
Finally the bus came. As they stood in line to board, Grover started looking around, sniffing the air like he smelled his favourite school cafeteria delicacy—enchiladas.
Nathan felt weird holding his stomach as he looked around too.
"What is it?" Percy asked.
"I don't know, maybe it's nothing." Grover said tensely but Nathan coughs.
"The hell is wrong with you, oh wait that's normal" Terry insults offhand, but Nathan looks around.
"No…feel…someone else" Nathan said, getting looks from Percy and Terry.
"Let go" Kate said, everyone following behind her.
Percy could tell it wasn't anything. He was relieved when they finally got on board and found seats together in the back of the bus. They stowed their backpacks.
Annabeth kept slapping her Yankees cap nervously against her thigh. As the last passengers got on, Annabeth clamped her hand onto Percy's knee. "Percy."
An old lady had just boarded the bus. She wore a crumpled velvet dress, lace gloves, and a shapeless orange-knit hat that shadowed her face. When she tilted her head up, her black eyes glittered.
'Mrs. Dodds.,' Percy thought.
She was older, more withered, very pale and is she sweating?
Percy scrunched down in his seat. Behind her came two older ladies: one in a green hat, one in a purple hat. Otherwise they looked exactly like Mrs. Dodds—same gnarled hands, paisley handbags in hand, wrinkled velvet dresses. Triplet demon grandmothers.
But the two kept looking at Mrs. Dodds, trying to help her up as they sat in the front row, right behind the driver. The two on the aisle crossed their legs over the walkway, making an X. It was casual enough, but it sent a clear message.
Nobody leaves.
The bus pulled out of the station, and they headed through the slick streets of Manhattan.
"She didn't stay dead long," Percy said. He was trying to keep his voice from quivering. "I thought you said they could be dispelled for a lifetime."
"I said if you're lucky," Annabeth said. "You're obviously not."
"You think she's mad about me stealing her whip" Sydney hides behind Percy's chair, feeling the monster turning to look at her, Kate pulls a knife.
"Hades's right hand woman, he sent them" Kate glares at the fury, ready for them to ponce.
"All three of them, Di immortals!" Grover whimpered, Terry thinks while Nathan looks down
"It's okay, the Furies. The three worst monsters from the Underworld. No problem. No problem. We'll just slip out the windows." Annabeth said, obviously thinking hard.
"They don't open," Grover moaned.
"A back exit?" She suggested.
"There wasn't one," Kate said. Terry notices Nathan not talking.
"They won't attack us with witnesses around, will they?" Percy said.
"The fucking Mist Percy, normalise would just see three crazy Karens beating us, Nathan want's wrong?" Terry spoke, getting attention from Nathan, who looked down.
"I feel her ... .I gave her something" Nathan confesses to Annabeth and Grover confusion but not the group that first saw her.
"Wait when you vomited in her mouth" Percy remembers Annabeth and Grover disgust.
"God of disease, you infected the monsters in camp" Kate figures their former maths teacher has spread whatever Nathan gave to her, Nathan holds his head.
"It is my fault, I caused that attack, my illness is my plague" Nathan hits himself but Percy stops him.
"Hey calm down, you didn't know this would happen" Percy spoke but Terry grins.
"Nathan you could stop her" Terry spoke to their surprise.
"WHAT?" They said collectively, but Terry continued.
"Nathan you can stop these bitches from attacking us" Terry said but Kate pointed his knife at him.
"That's a coward's way out nerd" Kate calls him out, Sydney looks scared.
"I like the coward's way" Sydney fearfully with Grover nodding.
"Maybe but that's too far... Maybe an emergency exit on the roof ... ?" Annabeth thought about it, while not fully agreeing with Nathan powers however.
"I can't do it guys….I won't give my father's gift" Nathan spoke in defiance.
They reached Lincoln Tunnel, and the bus went dark except for the running lights down the aisle. It was eerily quiet without the sound of the rain.
Mrs. Dodds got up. In a flat voice, but weaken state, she announced to the whole bus:
"I need to…cough cough…use the….restroom." Mrs. Dodds coughs out, one man looks at her concern.
"Are you ok?" the Man asked, seeing Mrs. Dodd.
"She's fine," said the second sister, standing near her.
"Miss she doesn't look good" another lady said, seeing Mrs. Dodd looked worse for wear.
"Should I call an ambulance?" Another man asked but the third sister jumps at them
"We SAID SHE FINE," the third sister screeched at them, forcing them back.
They all started coming down the aisle, despite people looking at them.
"What did you give them Nathan?" Sydney asked, seeing Mrs. Dodd looked more monstrous, and mortals noticed.
"I've got it," Annabeth said. "Percy, take my hat."
"What?"
"You're the one they want. Turn invisible and go up the aisle. Let them pass you. Maybe you can get to the front and get away."
"What about me? I stole her whip!" Sydney asked her, knowing they were after her too.
"Hey look you need help" Another Samaritan tries to help the sick lady but the sister pushes him back.
"Back off mortal" The sister growls, more people notice the ladies.
"We're screwed either way, get ready to fight" Kate states, getting another knife ready.
"Those bitches are after you but hiding you should help" Terry states, seeing the plan but Sydney looks at him.
"I can use the hat if Percy's not" Sydney said, reaching for the hat but Annabeth handed it to Percy.
"I can't just leave you," Percy said, Nathan bites his fingers watching it all.
"Percy," Kate said, in a cold tone looking at him "Go!"
Percy's hands trembled. He felt like a coward, but He took the Yankees cap and put it on. When Percy looked down, He saw his body wasn't there anymore. He started creeping up the aisle. He managed to get up ten rows, then duck into an empty seat just as the Furies walked past.
But more people watch them.
"Miss we need a hospital, stop the bus" A woman called out to bus but Mrs. Dodds had enough.
"JUST LEAVE ME THE FUCK ALONEEE!" screeched, turning into her true form as everyone screamed, her sister turned to her.
"What are you doing?!" Her sister asked but pushed her away.
"I don't care anymore, where are they?!" Mrs. Dodds ran towards the group with her sister following.
Percy watched the two old ladies transform. Their faces were still the same but their bodies had shrivelled into leathery brown hag bodies with bat's wings and hands and feet like gargoyle claws. Their handbags had turned into fiery whips.
They follow behind Mrs. Dodds towards his friends, Kate stand forward knifes ready, Annabeth with her bronze knife out, Terry with his pistol and Sydney with the Harpy Whip, Grover grab a tin can read to throw it but Nathan only looks at Mrs. Dodds in pity with her less sick sister behind her.
"Where is it?! Where OCUGHG?! WHEREE!" Mrs Dodds screech out about to attack Kate but her sisters stop her.
"Stop sister, this isn't why we're here" the second fury tries to calm her down. The other people on the bus were screaming, cowering in their seats.
"He's not here! He's gone!" Annabeth yelled but Mrs. Dodds glared at Sydney.
"Return MY WHIPPPPPCOUGGG" Mrs. Dodd wailed while coughing as her sister stops her
"Remember why we are here" the fury spoke struggling to hold her.
"Hell no bitch, I saw it, you died, it mine" Sydney smirks while holding 'her' harpy whips as Mrs. Dodd snarls.
"Maybe we can discuss this," Nathan said, hoping they can calm this down.
"Yes the son of Poseidon isn't the only one here for" The Sister spoke looking at the children of chaos, Percy needs to do something. Something impulsive, dangerous and really stupid. Noting the bus driver was distracted; trying to see what was going on in his rearview mirror. Still invisible, he grabbed the wheel from him and jerked it to the left.
Everybody howled as they were thrown to the right.
"Hey!" The driver yelled. "Hey—whoa!"
They wrestled for the wheel. The bus slammed against the side of the tunnel, grinding metal, and throwing sparks a mile behind. The bus careened out of the Lincoln Tunnel and back into the rainstorm, people and monsters tossed around the bus, cars ploughed aside like bowling pins.
Somehow the driver found an exit. They shot off the highway, through half a dozen traffic lights, and ended up barrelling down one of those New Jersey rural roads. There were woods to the left, the Hudson River to the right, and the driver seemed to be veering toward the river. With another great idea, Percy hit the emergency brake.
The bus wailed, spun a full circle on the wet asphalt, and crashed into the trees. The emergency lights came on. The door flew open. The bus driver was the first one out, the passengers yelling as they stampeded after him. Percy stepped into the driver's seat and let them pass.
The Furies regain their balance, as Mrs Dodds now free attacks Sydney but Kate blocks her claws, stabbing them into as she cries in pain of her blood.
The other Furies lash their whips, Sydney swings her whip too, clashing with the furies, while Annabeth while she waved her knife and yelled in Ancient Greek, telling them to back off. Grover threw tin cans with Nathan looking concerned.
"Hey!" Percy yelled, taking off the hat and revealing himself.
"Percy, you idiot!" Terry shouted pointing his gun at the furies
The Furies turned, baring their yellow fangs at the Son of Poseidon, and Percy instantly regretted it, Mrs. Dodds pushed Kate back as he flaps her wings, flying though the aisle with her talons ready to kill Percy, Her sister following behind trying to either kill Percy or stop there sister.
"JACKSON," Mrs. Dodds screeched at the demigod, Percy took the ballpoint pen out of his pocket and uncapped it. Riptide elongated into a shimmering double-edged sword.
"I liked you better as a maths teacher," Percy said to her. She growled flying faster.
"Sister stop!" Fury tried to stop her but crashed into Percy smashing him in front of the bus.
"PERCY" The demigods and Grover shouted, following behind the furies as they flew behind their sister.
Mrs. Dodds growled, her claws gasping at Percy who blocked Riptide.
"Submit now, and you suffer eternal torment." she hissed.
"Don't you mean not," Percy said to her, screamed.
"Percy, look out!" Annabeth cried, trying to save Percy from the fury's bite.
But stops at Percy, seeing his change Percy kicks the fury back to her sisters.
"AHHHHHHH COUGH COUGH COUG BLAASSSSSAHHH" thrash and scream coughing up blood and vilely her sisters try to help her.
"Sister!" They try to help, both turn to see Nathan holding his hand out to her.
"I'm sorry…but you hurt my friend" Nathan spoke with regret as the fury snarled with their whips, aiming at Nathan but Terry jumped in front.
"Aegis" Terry shouted a blue shield in one hand and his pistol in the other, blocking the whip and shooting at the furies, both furies flying to avoid the bullets.
Kate, Sydney and Annabeth try to attack the furies with their weapons while avoiding the whips.
Percy stands up with Riptide seeing Sydney get her whip tangled with another furies whip, the Fury fly up dragging Sydney forward until Terry shoots at the fury. The Fury flew down until Annabeth slashed the Fury leg and into Percy who sliced the Fury. As soon as the blade connected with her neck, she screamed and exploded into dust.
Kate got the other fury in a wrestler's hold and yanked her backward while Grover ripped the whip out of her hands.
"Ow! Ow! Hot! Hot!" Grover yelled, dropping the whip, but Terry picked it up. The Fury was trying to get Kate off her back but she proves her wrestling skills. She kicked, clawed, hissed and bit, but Kate didn't flinch while Terry helped tie up the fury in her own whip.
"We got Tisiphone, the avenger of murder, daughter of Uranus and Gaia, and sister of Alecto and Megaera" Terry brags, which pissed off Kate.
"FOR FUCK SAKE TERRY" Kate shouted as Tisiphone grows bigger, unwrapping her whips and roaring,
Kate avoids the whip but it wraps around Terry.
"Oh SHHHITTTTT" Terry screamed as Tisiphone smashed Terry in the front of the bus, knocking him out.
Mrs. Dodds tried to get up, but she was in too much pain, looking at Nathan controlling her.
"Zeus will destroy you! COUGH Hades will have your…..Disgusting soul!" Mrs. Dodd tries to threaten him but doesn't work while Nathan looks down.
"I doubt he wants it" Nathan said sadly.
Tisiphone glares at the demigods and satyr, seeing one of her sisters in back in Tartarus and another is in pain.
"This wasn't supposed to happen! We only wanted the Helllllllll" Tisiphone snarl was cut short when Sydney's whip wrap around her neck.
"You first bitch" Sydney insults thinking the Fury wanted them in hell, Percy runs forward with Kate.
"Braccas meas vescimini!" Percy yelled, which oddly meant, 'eat my pants.' Both Percy and Kate cut down Tisiphone, as she burst in blood like dust.
Then there was one, they turn to Nathan holding down as she cries in pain, Percy is ready to put his maths teacher in out of her misery.
"Why….do I feel pain?...regret?...loneliness?" asked Nathan who looks down, stops holding his hand.
"This is how mortals feel, this is how we die, Alecto" Nathan spoke as Alecto looked around.
"I…hear…him…." Alecto said in a comfort as he cut her head, turning her into gold dust.
The group took a deep breath in relief but found the other passengers wandering around in a daze, arguing with the driver, or running around in circles yelling, "We're going to die!"
A Hawaiian-shirted tourist with a camera snapped Percy's photograph before he could recap his sword.
"We should go" Annabeth spoke,
"Our bags!" Grover realised. "We left our—"
'BOOOOOM!'
The windows of the bus exploded as the passengers ran for cover. Lightning shredded a huge crater in the roof.
"We need to leave now" Kate spoke out; carry Terry on her shoulder with everyone following behind her.
