Battle in the Skies
Having slipped away from the crowd leaving the amusement park, even their boyfriends, girlfriends and crushes, the young Avengers quickly changed into their suits and soon they were all making their way rapidly towards Chinatown. They had barely made it across the bridge and into Chinatown when they heard the noise and Spider-Boy's Spider-Sense went off and he quickly yelled out, while dodging.
"Move!"
They all did so, narrowly avoiding the razor sharp projectile that they knew had been fired from Vulture's wings.
"Well, we know where he is now." Blue Beetle remarked.
They all nodded and hurried onwards to see Vulture in all his wizened glory, flying around and yelling angrily, the reason for that was clear. There was Speed Demon, running rings around him along the various rooftops, taking cover and also taunting him.
"You insufferable brat, get back here, I swear I will-!" Vulture yelled.
He launched another attack and missed by a mile so Speed Demon paused long enough to stick her tongue out at him, blowing a raspberry.
"Okay, fun as this is, we better intervene before Speed Demon pushes things a little too far." White Tiger cut in.
"Agreed." Black Panther said.
So together they all moved in quickly to intercept Vulture's incoming attack.
Vulture let out a shriek almost reminiscent of his namesake as he launched another barrage of blades from his wings, but again he missed Speed Demon, although one cut along Spider-Boy's shoulder as he intercepted the blade. At the same time The Wasp grabbed one of the blades and threw it back to Vulture who took the blow and was dazed.
"Quick, get him!" Batgirl cried out.
They all closed in except for Blue Beetle who turned to Speed Demon. Speed Demon sighed internally, knowing she was about to be sent away due to her young age.
Only for Blue Beetle to suddenly tell her. "Plan Q Delta."
She realized what that meant and grinned and nodded before speeding off, she wouldn't be part of the battle, not yet, but she was still going to be part of things and she'd done well so far. She was just being given a chance to catch her breath and regain her full strength. With Speed Demon taking cover and recovering, preparing for the next step, the others all gathered to fight back against Vulture.
"Urgh, you miserable brats, you can't leave things alone, can you?" He snarled bitterly.
Spider-Boy quickly retaliated. "Hey, you're the one who's going on a rampage, Adrian, what's this all about?"
"None of your business!"
"Oh really, I thought it had something to do with your age." Iron Man remarked.
Iron Girl then added. "Are we close, another scheme to try and slow your impending death?"
Vulture howled in rage and began flying at a much faster pace, certainly ready to begin his attacks.
They were unfortunately not entirely ready at first which led to Batgirl taking a hit too, also being injured like Spider-Boy. But luckily it wasn't deep and she quickly regained composure and they began to formulate their plan. Acting on it at once they quickly got to work, Black Panther, White Tiger and Wasp launched themselves towards Vulture from three directions, catching him off guard and allowing them to quickly attack him several times while Batgirl and Blue Beetle moved closer and, when Vulture forcibly opened his wings wide and knocked them all away from him, they leapt in to attack too.
"Insufferable brats, I will-!"
He spun around with his wings out, knocking them back too, but this was all part of their plan for at that moment, Speed Demon returned and bounced herself off his head and onto a nearby building. "You!"
"Can't catch me!" She called out, running off.
Vulture immediately flew after her in a blind fury. He wasn't quite the same challenge Scorpion had been, but that was easily due to his age. He followed Speed Demon right into the trap. With a scream of horror, Vulture found himself falling as Iron Man and Iron Girl blasted his wings and made them malfunction. He plummeted down into the webs waiting for him as Spider-Boy quickly left him strung up, waiting for the police, now trapped.
"Well, we tried Adrian, we really tried." He said. "But you just keep relapsing, sharing is important remember."
Vulture snarled. "Curse you all, I could have had it, the power to finally free myself and save my life, you lot just-"
"Wait, whoa, what, did you just say what I think you said?" Spider-Boy gasped.
Vulture glared sullenly but said nothing more, but he didn't need to. They all shared a worried look as they realized Vulture seemed to have said something similar to Scorpion, he had apparently heard of and was seeking the Symbiote for himself, not caring about the dangers involved. That told them things were getting dangerous. All they could do right now however was head for their homes.
Arriving home, Stephanie smiled as she began to slip out of her suit. Before things went hectic, namely due to a knock at the door.
"Steph, hey, open up." Her mom Robin's voice sounded.
"Um, just a minute mom." Stephanie burst out quickly.
She frantically went around to try and stash her suit before her mom could get in and see her, this left her in just her underwear as she managed to hide her suit. But then at that moment the door opened and Robin stepped in.
"Mom, I'm changing." She cried out, trying to offer an excuse.
But Robin was more concerned with the gash on Stephanie's shoulder. "Steph what on earth-?"
She realized quickly and swallowed. "It's...It's nothing mom, I just fell and caught my shoulder on something, I can deal with it."
"Yeah right, get dressed and come to the kitchen, I'll take care of it." Robin said.
Stephanie sighed but took some relief, at least her moms seemed to have bought the excuse. Now she just had to endure the wound being treated while being lectured about being careful, then she could figure something out for what to do next.
