At HQ, Kono and Chin resorted to employing old-school methods to build a timeline of Associates of the suspects. They hoped the associate tree would ultimately lead to the mystery buyer Nedir Kire. Steve and Danny join a pair of cousins just in time for dinner delivery by Catherine. It was the intelligence officer who spotted the alternative identity of the buyer. "Steve, you need to see this", she said as she stood on one side of the clear board of associate tree could be seen from both sides.
"Steve came here" he came over and stood next to his wife Catherine, "Huh, look that", the former intelligence officers spotted the secondary identity of the buyer and mastermind of this terrorist act against the Law enforcement officers of the state of Hawaii.
Danny asked, "What are you two going about? We see what you see! I do not see anything different from what I did an hour ago. So, enlighten us!"
Steve said, "If you read Nedir Kire backwards, it spells Erik Riden."
Kono said, "Erik Riden, you about be searched." Her fingers flew across the screen of the smart table. She found the news article from Waylon College. The article was about the service of a new cafeteria. The headline read (Newark's Waylon College reporting on a new student cafeteria for WXDE.) There was a photo of a man smoking a cigarette with the article. He looks directly at the camera, portrait view laughing, and the photo seems to be taken from Erik's dorm room.
Chin zoomed in on the photo and asked the team, "Does that look familiar to anyone?"
Danny said, "Enrique Reyes, the smart bastard, always on my television the first thing in the morning."
Catherine said, "Wait, he did a report from the scene on the morning of the shooting."
Steve looked at Kono but, before he could say anything to Kono, she stated, "On it, boss" Her fingers flew across the screen of the smart tables once more and she brought up a video of the news from the day of the shooting.
Steve asked, "Zoom in tight on the shirt please" Kono did as requested, and to everyone's surprise they saw black specs on the crisp white shirt.
"that could be gunpowder residue?" Kono stated.
Danny added, "If it is then he's the stupidest mastermind ever because he just broadcasted the whole thing for the entire nation to see. Where is this guy now?"
Chin was one step ahead and started to search for the location of Enrique Reyes formerly-known, as Eric Riden. It's turned out who is currently interviewing the owner of the incinerator.
Steve and Danny arrived at the incinerator, standing behind Riden in the full view of the camera. Right on queue with the question of people being afraid Steve stated for all to hear, "People should be afraid of Nedir Kire" taking off his aviators, just as the Reyes turned around to see who was interrupting his interview.
Reyes turned around to find one-half of Five 0 standing there Steve, informed him, "We have a warrant for the clothes you were wearing yesterday just happened to be the day of the shooting." Slamming the warrant into his chest just as Danny grabbed his hand and dragged him away. Five 0 left a very stunned cameraman and the owner of the incinerator was standing there with Steve.
Once the HPD officer takes the cameraman away from Steve, The head of Five 0 turns to the owner of the incinerator and asks him, "Mr Inoke, as the owner of the incinerator, you've had the time, date and the route the police department was taking on the day of the shooting. Did you tell Reyes that information?"
At first, Bob Inoke denied letting that information slip to a reporter. However, eventually, Bob came clean and admitted that he may have made a mistake. At which point Steve took a formal statement. Now it was up to Danny and Steve to get the confession out of Reyes.
Back at HQ before heading down to interrogation Chin cuts them off and informs them that he dug a little deeper, into Reyes. What he found out was that Eric Riden changed his name officially to Enrique Reyes shortly after arriving in Hawaii 25 years ago. It made sense, to change his name to Reyes to appeal to the locals and the Hispanic community in Hawaii. Heading down, to the interrogation, Danny entered the room first and got straight down to the point. "we know how you found out about the disposable motorcade. Reyes just shrugged his shoulders, trying to maintain his innocence.
"The incinerator tipped you off, he's down at homicide giving his full statement as we speak," Steve informed him. The head of the task force helped back this Ace card, not relieving the fact they were aware of not only his other identities but that they had traced both identities back to him.
The reporter wearing a thousand-dollar soup crisp white shirt and black tie sat in the most uncomfortable chair in a room without windows or a table. This was unlike any other interrogation room he had previewed too. Reyes pulled out a phone moving it around stating, "Do you guys have a reception in here because I'm..." he never got to finish what he was saying, because Detective William burst into sarcastic laughter.
Danny informed Reyes, "Substance on your shirt that's gun powder"
"That places you, right there at the shooting and implicates you as a shooter" Steve stated, pausing for a moment he added, "We have your partner in custody, we know you are the brains of the operation" Steve and raised an eyebrow
Reyes confessed it was for Fame and fortune, it wasn't the crime itself it was the coverage it went National. Danny piped up, "High price to pay for payment fortune and Fame, you're right you'll be getting your due in 8 by 9 cell, while you do a life sentence for Murder one. I seemed stupid before and I'll see it again but you take the cake"
Steve said, "Book 'im, Danno" he turned around to walk out of the interrogation. Steve met Catharine at the car park she had picked up the package for him. Brand new gun cleaning kit, he did not doubt that Danno would take care of the lecture but he wanted to ensure that Eric had no excuses not to keep a clean gun.
Danny been Danny, he wanted the full effect, calling every reporter on the island to ensure they all catch Reyes being marched down to booking. The report swarm him bombarding him with questions.
Two hours later Five 0 with SWAT escorted the recovered drugs and other disposable evidence to the incinerator. They stood and watched as every single piece of the evidence that had been collected in the past ten years was destroyed. Bring a long week of investigation to a close.
