Now onto the story.

Unexpected Difficulties

"Still can't believe you did that man, I mean, we-" Black Panther began.

"Just don't." Spider-Boy said, shaking his head. "We're supposed to be looking for Venom. The danger is clear...I can't subject her to that. I don't know how all of you can."

"It's not as simple as that and you know it." Wasp fired back. "Try looking past your hang ups."

Things were quiet after that. They had removed themselves from the scene of Electro's attack, giving Jake a chance to go and change into his suit and join them.

Changing the subject Spider-Boy queried. "Any idea what caused that with Electro?"

"Venom, he began using his new powers to torment Electro in his dreams, used his new underlings to haunt him while he was awake, just kept pushing and pushing until his mind snapped." Batgirl explained.

White Tiger sighed. "So...he was driven insane and started attacking people, thinking they were those monsters Venom was using on him...I wonder, why?"

"He's trying to cause chaos, destabilize things…" Spider-Boy muttered. "C'mon, we better do the only productive thing we can here, the police have taken care of Electro now that you guys subdued him."

The others nodded and finally Iron Man spoke up.

"I think our best bet would be to go and patrol the city, if we cover as much ground as possible...hopefully we can find Venom."

The others agreed and all split up to do just that.

Working their way through the city, searching different parts and looking for any clues as to where Venom was hiding, or for any clues of what he was up to.

"Guys...I was just wondering." Speed Demon asked over the radio. "We had Scorpion and Vulture looking for the Symbiote for their own purposes. Electro was driven mad and went on the rampage. Kingpin had one of warehouses attacked, isn't it strange he's causing trouble amongst our enemies, as much as causing trouble for us?"

Iron Girl replied. "I was thinking about that, it seems like he's just trying to cause as much chaos as possible, but he's certainly building up to something. Maybe he's trying to use them for something...I wouldn't be surprised if he tried something else too."

"Great, all we need." Blue Beetle muttered.

"C'mon guys, stay focused." Black Panther warned them. "We need to be alert in case we miss something."

The others acknowledged this and they quickly turned their focus once more onto the search for Venom or any clues to his actions or whereabouts. Spider-Boy had brought his search down to the street and was checking an alleyway that he had once spotted a Symbiote fragment in the last time they had dealt with them.

"Huh, you're...you're Spider-Boy?"

He turned, surprised, and also shocked and worried, upon hearing that voice. It was his parents.

He swallowed and tried to remain composed. "Um, yes, can I help you?"

He tried to disguise his voice but inwardly cringed, it didn't sound right and would surely make them suspicious.

Will smiled and spoke up. "We were just, surprised to see you around here, is...something up?"

"Yeah, our, our son told us about you, he really admires you, you know." Mike added.

Spider-Boy nodded. "Oh well...He's probably not the only one if the way the people of this city act around me are anything to go by. So long as he's admiring me for the right reasons."

"We're sure he is, thank you." Will replied.

Spider-Boy was glad his mask hid his smile as finally his parents left and he was able to focus again, that was still such a close call however.

That unexpected meeting playing on Jake's mind for most of the rest of the day. Mostly right now as he sat at the dinner table, eating along with his dads.

"You know." Mike said suddenly with a smile. "We met Spider-Boy today."

Jake swallowed his food and did his best to keep his voice even. "Oh, cool."

"Yeah, he seemed troubled, searching for something. But I can see what you mean about what you said about how and why you admire him." Will added happily.

Jake nodded. "Well, sounds good. I'm just glad things went alright."

They also smiled happily at that and finally Jake finished his dinner and excused himself to his bedroom. Meanwhile, Mike took the dishes to the sink, Will however was lost in thought.

'There's something not quite right here...the things Jake said to us when we asked him about the Vulture Incident. It reminds me so much about that time 30 years ago. The things I said to Mike, pretending it was Jane who said them...when I pretty much confessed my love to him.' He reflected worriedly. 'Jake...are you hiding something…?'

"Will?"

He turned to see Mike approaching him, looking worried.

"Are you alright?" He asked. "You're kinda spaced out."

Will bit his lip. "I...I don't know. I just, what Jake's been saying, it...it just feels too rehearsed, too, familiar."

"You mean, like you all those years ago." Mike surmised. "Funny, I was beginning to wonder the same thing."

Both men shared a worried look, wondering what was going on with their son.

Unaware of his dads concerns and what they were talking about, Jake had simply entered his room, only to see the red alert device he had set up flash and he hurried over to it.

"Code 4, Code 4!" A dispatcher cried out. "We need a Code 4, Rhino is on the rampage, repeat, Rhino is on the rampage!"

Jake flinched. "Rhino, oh God."

With that he hurried over and hit a button to turn it off, before quickly suiting up.

"Guys, you hear that?"

"Sure did, we're getting ready." Was the reply.

With that Jake finished getting ready and hurried out, ready to face Rhino. It was just as they feared, just as they had discussed. There was some other enemy of theirs who was now taking action, despite their issues with Venom still ongoing. They just had to figure out if Venom had his hand in this too or not.
