Aftermath
Finally realizing it was over, the Avengers let go of the adrenaline rush they had been riding on and slumped in various stages of tiredness, Spider-Boy especially after all he had endured.
"Damn, that...we did it, tougher than I expected I'll admit, but still." He managed to say with a smile. "We all did, together guys."
"You're right, all of us...especially our new team member who has proven her worth and given us some pretty neat plans." Black Panther remarked.
Everybody at that point smiled over at Speed Demon who bit her lip but smiled back.
"So...it's all over then, the nightmare is done."
They all stopped to look around and take stock of what had happened. Finally with a happy sigh, Spider-Boy spoke again.
"Yeah, the battle is over, the nightmare has ended...but there's still stuff to do."
White Tiger spoke up then. "Ah, that's right...we did promise everyone we'd return safely and help them, it's time to start repairing the damage, fixing things…"
"No time like the present." Wasp agreed.
"Alright, our suits are pretty damaged, we're kinda hurting here but if we hurry back to the base we can get them in for repair." Iron-Man stated.
Iron-Girl added. "We can also fix up our wounds and get changed, then we'll be ready."
"I'm sure everyone is worried about us, so let's not keep them waiting." Batgirl said at last.
"Yeah, I know I'll be glad to see dad again." Blue Bullet agreed.
So, with their plan, the Avengers finally left the field of battle to return to base, for hopefully the last time in a while to do just as they planned before seeking to reunite with their families and loved ones at the main aid station where they would find out how they could best help the people who had been hurt.

So it was that Jake, Eddie, Terry, Amanda, Barbara, Thomas, Matthew, Stephanie and Kelsey all arrived at the aid station to find their respective parents waiting, relieved to see them, out of sight of the others they all instantly hugged.
"We were so worried." Erica blurted out. "We thought, when we couldn't hear from you…"
"Sorry mom, we're okay now." Amanda said.
It was Robin who asked the main pertinent question. "What happened?"
Before they could answer Tanya, Michelle, Nathan, Jeff and Olivia arrived at that moment and had their respective loves locked in tight hugs too. Taking a moment to compose themselves they all smiled, the feeling of it being over truly sinking in at last and making them happy as they finally relayed their tale, the story of their final battle against the Symbiote Invasion. When they finally finished their tale, Mike and Will shared a look.
"I'd say you got it spot on, Jake." Mike said. "How unfortunate for Venom, being such a fool, making a mistake that Vecna did not."
Will continued their joking reprimand of the now defeated Symbiote. "Yeah, Vecna was patient, waited years in the Upside-Down, let his body adapt and grow used to his power...Venom didn't and that lack of patience, his obsession for it too...that's what truly defeated him, like you said Jake."
Jake nodded. "He didn't even think to cover his weakness, which just made them larger."
"So, where do we start fixing the damage, who are we helping, what are we doing?" Terry asked.
The others all straightened up, ready to get back on task, but that was when Jake finally saw someone and the others smiled indulgently and waited, as Jake ran as fast as he could, at normal human level, towards Jessica who was running to meet him. Finally, without any fear in the back of his mind, Jake caught Jessica in his arms, the two embraced before facing each other and, both grinning beforehand, kissed deeply, well and truly affirming their relationship.
