Waking up I expected a bright light, or burning fires. Instead I get neither.
I don't know what I was expecting after having been shot, but it certainly wasn't an empty room that smelled horrible.
I was fairly certain that I had died, right? Trying to recall, I remember having just ended my hunt, coming home with a bear, it would feed me for about a week or two. And then a gunshot.
Some idiot had shot me thinking I was an animal maybe. Then being rushed to hospital and having my heart stop on the way, only to be brought back. Upon arriving at the hospital they tried to save me, and I know they did their best. But I knew before they even started I wouldn't be surviving. I've seen enough gunshot wounds to know I wasn't surviving that.
Snapping back to the current, I take a moment to glance around. Wondering for a few moments if this is hell. An apartment that smells of death and decay. The place looks like it hasn't been touched in years, furniture falling apart, and piles of garbage everywhere. Not to mention a layer of dust everywhere.
As I take a step out of the ruined bedroom the floorboards creak ominously. I know I don't weigh much, but the boards still sound seconds away from falling apart. Hearing a slight clinking sound I glance down and see empty and broken needles litter parts of the floor. Moving through the house that feels more and more like a crackhouse and less like hell.
I frown trying to think about what could be going on. I finally find a very dirty mirror and notice I'm not wearing my casual hunting gear. Lifting the t-shirt, I don't see a bullet hole, or stitches to fix it up. I see absolutely nothing. And that worries me slightly. Moving downstairs I find the source of the stench. Several bodies in the kitchen. None of them in a single piece. Heads on the counter, and arms and legs on the table. I don't know where the bodies are and I don't want to know.
Rushing to the doors I check the front only to find it locked. Alongside locked windows, and no backdoor. I know I need to get out of this place, and fast. Heading back up the stairs I find the bedroom and shove the mattress out the window straining to roll it enough to fit. Finally getting it out I wait for it to hit the ground and then jump outside, it's not the best cushion but I walked away from it at least.

"Good job rookie, you took longer than the last guy but you made it out at least. So welcome to Gotham. Now let's see what you get for your abilities." Resounded in my head.
"Wait, who are you?" I asked in my head.
"I'm your system, you're a gamer now, any other questions." The system said, sounding exasperated.
"No? Good." It said before I could even think to say anything.
"Now then, let's get cracking. First here is a List of Basic Traps you can unlock. Choose three.
[Basic Traps Available]
[Basic Pitfall]

[Basic Noisemaker]
[Basic Bear Trap]
[Basic Dart Trap]
[Basic Spike Trap]

"Oh right, first let's spin to see what ability you get."
With that, what looked like a giant wheel in my mind started spinning. With it going I could see dozens, possibly hundreds of abilities listed.
[Ability gained]
[Create Dimension] (Maze)
Create a Maze inside a pocket dimension that you can fill with traps and dangers to your heart's content.
Current size is only 50 feet by 200 feet.
"That can't be right, that had less than 1% chance of being chosen. So how'd you get it? Hm, this is interesting. Very well. Since you can't do much with this ability I'll modify the ability slightly."
[Ability Create Dimension] (Maze) Upgraded
[New Basic Traps Added]

"Good choices, Now I'm also going to add a room above the maze to watch over and modify the maze. It will also have a speaker system. Also it will have a few weapons, and a system by which to teleport yourself or your summons into the maze. It will also have a living quarters equivalent to a 5 star hotel's best rooms. All you gotta do is trap and kill someone every so often. Also I'll be generous and give you an ability to teleport people into the starting point of your maze. Alrighty, Good luck and get killing."
Quickly going into my pocket dimension I get to work making my basic maze.
Once done I decided to not use all the space provided. First I split the maze into 10 by 10 foot squares. Every gate I added had noisemakers, the tunnels had snares, and I threw in 5 caverns with Small animal dens. Two caverns I filled with only rats. One cavern was given non-venomous snakes, another was given wasps. The last cavern was slightly flooded and filled with piranhas.
Then with a smirk I step back into Gotham. And immediately spot my first target, a simple drunk. With a grin I begin stumbling towards him as if drunk, and make it look like I fell down onto him. And with a flash, he is gone, trapped in the maze. Then with a thought I start falling backwards. Before I can even hit the ground, I'm sitting in my chair in the control room.
This round I decide to start simple and summon a trio of [Beowolf Pups] and send them into three different areas. And watch the chaos unfold. Watching the man panic for a few minutes at his new location, I grew bored. Pressing a button I simply chuckle before saying, "Your only hope for escape lies at the end of this maze. Do try your best." Watching him start running fills me with joy. Watching him stumble around corners, rush through tunnels, I wait for him to hit a trap.
And then I hear it. [DING] With a glance I see he has hit a snare trap. Hitting the speaker systems button I say, "You've hit a basic snare trap, I will release you in one minute, during that time another hunter will be added." With a thought I summon a [Tomb DeathStalker] and teleport it into the maze back at the start not far from him.
Watching him struggle for a few seconds begging and pleading to let him go, how he's sorry, how he won't do it again. I interrupt using the speaker system to say, "There is nothing you did wrong, you were just in the wrong place at the wrong time." Watching him start crying I watch a Beowolf Pup appear around a corner behind him. The growl it lets off is quite cute, then it pounces at the man who upon hearing the growl turns around to stare. And minutes later he is dead on the ground. With a thought I send the body back where I grabbed it from. And wait for the power to come in.
