Druella stood there in the camp staring at another powerful, inexplicable piece of magic occurred once more in the forest much closer to their encampment. A massive beam of light shot through the clouds moving ever so slightly in different directions as it continued for thirty seconds before it abruptly stopped. She stood there amazed once more by another magic caster who could do that but what intrigued her more was how she couldn't actually feel any magic from the spell, like earlier with her subordinates earlier saying there was no magic with the asteroid.
She continued to watch the location before turning away heading back to her tent before she heard talking again. Druella looked back as she saw something big fly through the sky and landed right where the beam of light hit. She stared at the area again for an another minute before it flew off ascending through the clouds. She smirked again thinking about the scout team she sent out and what they'll report back to her as she made her way back to her tent.
Druella saw Maeve at the entrance to the tent as she herself went out along with her generals, who were a lot further away from the tent than Maeve. Maeve bowed as she saw Druella return back to her tent as they both entered "Maeve you know how I feel about you bowing" Druella said as she sat back down on her lavish sofa with Maeve standing just a few feet behind her.
"My apologies miss" Maeve responded to Druella.
"And no miss as well you know me, we're friends." Druella replied as she looked back to Maeve. "And I have one small request as well, can you get some more wine for me" she requested holding her goblet up for Maeve to take.
"With pleasure Druella" she said taking the goblet and moving away to refill it.
They both stayed still for a few more minutes Druella absentmindedly drinking her wine before they heard shouting again from outside. They both ran out to see what the commotion was about as they saw four more asteroids plummet to the surface.
"Go now, and should you fall, remember this: Every day is a good day to die for Democracy." The democracy officer spoke as they began calling for their equipment.
"Tagging map" G4 spoke as he began to walk to the city as the others followed suit as well. The trip again was relatively quiet, nothing impeding managed democracy, only the calm noises that the wildlife was making could be heard by the Helldivers.
"I can't actually see why the autocrats are dangerous to anything." X2 asked making conversation. "Sure they're stronger than a normal human, but they use ancient weapons, and don't go in for the kill." She continued as she inspected her quasar canon as they walked through another piece of overgrowth.
"It is weird but I'm more weirded out that they resemble humans, and that the men resemble humans exactly." G4 said as all of them thought about it. Their thoughts were quickly pushed out their minds as they finally got a a glimpse of the city they needed to investigate.
The city was large, not as large as a Super Earth city but big for a medieval one. There was one massive defensive wall with turrets strategically placed on it. Drawbridges that had guards placed to check who was entering and exiting the city, and the only thing they could see on the inside of the city was one massive castle.
"Are the people there looking at us" Z3 said.
"Hang on I'll check" G4 said using the scope on his anti-material rifle. "Yep definitely looking at us." He responded back to his team.
"So do we kill them or..." Z3 said trailing off.
"Helldivers mission update." The democracy officer said. They checked the updated objective which was to attempt to make contact with the people there.
"I'll do the talking" C1 instructed his team as they continued to the city. The four continued to the group of people, observing them most were in old medieval armour but one looked like he was in old priest clothing, and a girl wearing the most impractical combat clothing ever.
She wore a white dress, knee high boots, a giant four strapped belt and a boob window. The only good thing she decided to wear was a cape but then again it looked terrible with it just being a boring red no freedom or democracy on it. She also possessed a sword that was currently sheathed on her side.
All four approached the group as they to holstered their guns, trying to appear to be friendly as the priest guy approached them. C1 activated his scanner seeing all of them were human, except the girl had weird energy signal.
"Greetings saviours brought to us by the Chief God" he spoke reverence etched in his voice. "All our priests around the world are getting dreams of a group of four people who will save us from the vile monsters and you are our salvation." C1 stared at this guy's fanaticism to a supposed god that gave him a prophetic dream that his team will save them from what he assumed the autocrats.
"Sorry sir you must be confused with someone else" he said as he tried to move past him "we aren't affiliated with any god only managed democracy." C1 finished as he motioned to his team to continue on without stopping for these weird religious people.
"Sorry sir but you have been summoned by the senate, we have orders to bring you in" the priest said grabbing C1's shoulder. "Please follow."
C1's brain right now groaned as he thought about the best option to get out of this situation before an absolutely amazing thought crossed his mind.
"Have a taste of freedom" C1 screamed as he punched the priest before running away shouting "run" to his teammates as he activated his jump pack down the hill.
The rest of the team quickly followed his example and ran away from the now aggressive order members.
C1 watched as his teammates ran down the hill, scattered being followed by the soldiers. He pulled out a smoke grenade as he threw one at all his teammates obscuring there pursuer's vision as all three ran down to him and escaped into the trees.
The priest got up grabbing the side of his face where C1 punched him and watched as smoke obscured his troops, who were spluttering and coughing from it. "Where did they go" the priest asked rage etched in his voice.
"They escaped sorry sir." A guard responded as he walked up to the priest helping him up.
"How are they supposed to be our saviours if they make a member of the order look like a fool." He asked furious he was punched. "If any of you mention this in the city, you'll be having your throats slit.
All four Helldivers ran through the forest away from the soldiers as they got a notification that an objective was completed.
"Invaluable information was discovered in that meeting, great job." The democracy officer spoke, "now enter the city for democracy." He finished.
"How the hell are we going to get in there then" X2 asked her team as she sat on a tree stump.
"Did any of you see the sewage pipe leading into the city." C1 said looking at his team who shook their heads. "Well I saw it, while you were running away from the quote unquote 'order of the chief god'." He finished with a tone of hatred.
"That's disgusting but not as bad as bile titan spit I'll imagine." Z3 said as shivered from remembering the smell of the spit.
"So what are we waiting for, let's spread some democracy." C1 yelled as he started moving back to the city.
"We should probably make sure he doesn't get killed" G4 said as he ran up to C1 followed by the other two.
"So that's it" X2 asked as she saw the sewer C1 was pointing at.
"Yes now let's go" C1 ordered as he ran up to the sewer tunnel and entered without hesitation. The others followed suit as they ran and entered the sewer tunnel.
C1 stood there waiting for his team to be ready as he started to walk through the tunnels into the city. The others trailed behind him as they waded through the sewage hoping that C1 can get them out of the sewers quickly. They continued for a good ten minutes before C1 stopped as he looked at the grate above him.
"No signs of people walking, this grate hasn't been used much, hopefully an empty street through here." C1 hypothesised as he looked at his team "should I risk it" he asked.
"Yes!" His team unanimously responded as he pushed the grate up and climbed out into the empty street above followed by X2 as she looked around the street as well.
"What the hell are we supposed to do here now." Z3 asked as she looked around the street as well.
"Objective completed. New objective walk around the city and find as much information as possible." The democracy officer spoke as all four looked at each other and went on their way. Not before wiping their boots on the ground attempting to get the muck of their boots.
All four walked out the street as they looked at the building next to them, which to their horror was a church with priests and nuns leaving it down to the street they were on.
"Shit." G4 said as they spotted them and quickly surrounded them adoration in their voices.
"No way." "The chief gods prophesy is in motion." "Our salvation is already here." "The chief god's warriors are with us now." "The monsters will finally perish after terrorising us for centuries." A cacophony of voices said as they inspected the Helldivers.
C1 attempted to grab his defender before he was stopped by X2 grabbing his arm.
"You have been requested to see the senate." A elderly priest said as C1 again reached for his gun before he was stopped once more.
"Alright take us there please." G4 requested feeling C1's gaze boring into his skull as they began following the priests and nuns through the streets as they walked to the senate building.
Wilmarina Noscrim was having a strange day.
All order priests, nuns, clergy men etc. had a dream where apparently four people dressed in strange armour would help them fight against the monsters and save humanity.
Another detail was the strange skull emblem they wore on their armour they could use to find out who they are. Just yesterday though there was a change saying that the four saviours would be coming to Lescatie and they should greet them. The priest that was told to wait for them got worried he might get attacked by a monster, he demanded troops and hero. That why she was told to accompany him to the path into the city awaiting the heroes.
Said heroes were stranger than she expected. The only one who talked appeared to not hide his distaste for them as he attempted to get past them on the path. The priest stopped him and threatened him which caused the hero to shout out "Have a taste of freedom." and ran before saying to his companions run and he somehow jumped in the air far taller then any human can thanks to the thing he had on his back which stopped his descent when he reached the bottom of the hill. She and the soldiers attempted to catch the other three as they ran down the hill as well before they escaped in an inexplicable appearance of smoke allowing them to escape.
She sighed as she walked past the training, making her way back to her father's mansion and passing the barracks before she accidentally crashed into someone. "Sorry." Wilmarina quickly said as she stopped to look at the person he walked into before her heart skipped a beat looking at the person she walked into.
"I'm sorry about that..." he trailed as he saw who he walked into "Lady Wilmariana my deepest apologies." Elt said apologising profusely to who he walked into.
"It's alright Elt." Wimarina said as she struggled to not smile from seeing her friend. "How's Sasha and the orphanage doing?" She asked curious about how her friend and fellow heroine is doing.
"The orphanage is still getting underfunded from the council. I don't know why they aren't supporting a hero's endeavour to help children." Elt responded to Wilmarina about Sasha's situation with the orphanage. Wilmarina internally was furious about her friend's orphanage getting underfunded by her father and his council. "Are you alright Mary, you seem troubled." Elt said before realising his blunder calling Wilmarina his old nickname for her.
Wilmarina's face went bright red as she looked away from Elt, who thought this was a sudden outburst was anger and he was going to be punished for his insubordination. Wilmarina then looked back at Elt with a calm face "I'm alright Elt thank you. But have you heard the priests talking about four heroes descending from heaven to purge the monsters from our world."
"Who has not." He responded as he thought about the story's of the four heroes, how they already killed a whole monster army, and punished the people who turned their backs to the chief god.
"Well I was instructed to greet the four heroes into our city to see the council, as our priests got another message from the Chief god that they are coming here." Wilmarina began recounting the story. "Then the priest I was with somehow offended one and he punched in his face before jumping up inhumanly high telling the others to run as we were told to capture them, before they disappeared from a sudden cloud of smoke." She finished looking at Elt.
"Wow." Elt responded to the story "what did the priest do to deserve that."
"He didn't do anything!" Wilmarina responded "He just told them they have to see the council." Wilmarina elaborated then she remembered something "The hero said that they weren't affiliated with any god only 'managed democracy'" she said still confused what managed democracy was.
"Out of the way, you should not interrupt our saviours." A voice said behind the two of them. They looked back to see a two crowds, one with normal people and the other with priests and guards surrounding someone.
"Wait did he say saviours?" Elt said trying to get a look in the middle of the crowd of priests. While Wilmarina had a face of suspicion as to how they got into Lescatie.
"Lady Wilmarina would you like to accompany our saviours to the council." A priest called out to Wilmarina as he completely overlooked Elt.
"Elt you follow as well something suspicious is afoot." She said before she joined the crowd heading to the council buildings.
Above them on Fist of Democracy the democracy officer was currently watching them with their helmets camera as they were surrounded by an escort of priests and guards shouting at people watching to get out of their way. He continued to watch as he wondered how the hell the priests knew about the Helldivers and how they were predicted on arriving to the planet below. He shook that thought out his mind as they would be acquiring the information soon.
He watched as X2 always grabbed C1's arm from grabbing his SMG as he wanted to kill all the priests surrounding him.
"C1 don't shoot the priests we still need information from them." He spoke exclusively to C1 through the comms as he stopped trying to grab his SMG.
The democracy officer continued watching before a person on the comms team spoke up "sir we can communicate with Super Earth again." She spoke as grin formed on his face as he listened to this information.
"Good, tell them a colony of humans is stuck on this planet and needs our help." He finished as the comms team patched it through to Super Earth.
AN: that's it for this chapter and Super Earth has been notified of the planet's existence so even if the monsters somehow beat the four current Helldivers well "two thousand units are ready with a million more well on their way" so they're dead. And the order will probably be scared off by Super Earths technology they renounce on their vows to the chief god and join with Super Earth.
Any way feel free to comment criticisms, grammatical errors and ideas for later chapters.
