Day 1: Sunday's Melancholy Part 3

Shibuya, Higurashi Shrine

Going to her room to repack her bag, Kagome pulled out almost everything inside her bag before replacing them with flashlight, some batteries and a first-aid kit. There was no way for her to know if they could find everyone before dark so they would need the flashlight to walk around in the dark in case the electricity had not went back up as she had noticed electricity was not working, and the first-aid kit was just another thing they needed if anyone was injured.

"I've bought up some water and snack." Souta entering the room with his hand full of three bottle of water and snacks.

"We'll need more drink for others and some food other than snack." Kagome slightly frowned at all of those snacks Souta had carried over, "You will need to carry your own things if you are going to bring all those snacks you like. I'll go see if there are other food."

"Do we really have to bring so many things just to go look for mom, grandpa and the others?" Souta place the things down on Kagome desk with a frown, he really didn't understand the reason behind bringing all these food and drink with them since they would most likely be back before night.

Kagome was not going to tell her younger brother that they might not find their family in the hospital and had to search around. It was just a possibility that they might not even be alive……No, she couldn't think about it like that, they will find them but it will just take them some time with all those crowd and road block around the street.

"Just in case we won't be back before night and the city was actually……quite a mess." Kagome replied as she put three bottles of water into her bag and then went to pick up her bow and quiver of arrows leaning against her closet at a corner.

"You are going to bring your bow along too?" Souta stared confusedly at the bow Kagome was holding.

Kagome didn't answered but instead said, "Souta, go bring a bag to pack your sneak. I'll be waiting downstairs." She put her already zipped bag on her back followed by the quiver of arrows and bow over her shoulder before walking past him to leave her room.

Kagome quickly found what she needs in the kitchen, it was not much but she did find some breads and leftover food from lunch earlier. She quickly search the refrigerator for jam to spread on the empty white bread before going to the cardboard to look for bento box to pack their supposed dinner and maybe breakfast depending on if they found their families and friends today.

"Do you want me to carry my own bottle of water too?" Souta went downstairs with his bag and soon saw his sister busy packing away the food in the kitchen.

Kagome nodded and went to hand Souta his bottle water before placing the two pack lunchbox into her bag and zip it to place her bag back to her back, "Let's go." She picked up the bow and quiver of arrows leaning aside before turning back to her brother to saw he had also finished packing.

Souta just nodded before following Kagome to the entrance to leave the house but he soon stopped though as his sister had abruptly paused when she slightly opened the front door.

"Sis?" Souta tilted his head in confusion.

Kagome didn't respond immediately as she was focused on her sense with a frowned, there were multiple demonic presence entering the shrine ground and she could only tell they were not that strong but not the number.

"What's that sound?" Souta asked as he heard some strange noises coming from the shrine's direction.

Kagome had also heard the noise and intent to go find out but first she had to stop her noisy younger brother from following, "Stay here, I'll go see what had happened." She turned back to told Souta with a serious expression.

"But……" Souta was not happy to be left behind as he was curious of what had happened, he was about to argue but soon noticed the serious look his sister was giving him, "Fine, I'll stay." He had reluctantly agreed with a nodded in the end.

"I'll be back soon." Kagome turned to leave after closing the door behind her.

Following her sense to track down the demons, she soon found a man in suit being chased by multiple flying skull-head demons on the front yard near to the shrine as multiple green blades were shot from some of the demons toward him at the same time. It had happened in an open place though so he managed to dodge it by moving around but she doubted it would be long before he got caught by them since there was quite a lot of them.

Without thinking much about showing her power to a normal person, she had done the familiar motion of pulling out an arrow from the quiver at her back and notching it before firing it after taking aim. Lilac glowing arrow soon flew through the air, purifying any demons that got in the way while the short pain cried startled the suit man who abruptly stopped on his step to turn back in surprise.

"Thanks goodness……" The unknown man in suit soon smile as he went toward Kagome, completely forgotten about the danger around at seeing his savior even though he didn't really know how a girl younger than him had done it.

Kagome frowned before she saw some flying skull-head demon flying down on the man and shout out in warning, "Behind you!" She had also quickly notch another arrow and sent it flying toward those demons.

The man was confused at first but soon noticed a few demons driving down toward him from a side, "Ah!" He quickly went to dodged away just before a lilac glow arrow flew past him toward the demons.

Seeing only less than one quarter of those demons being purified since they were all mostly spread out circling the man, Kagome quickly notched another arrow and sent it flying as she ran towards him. Her action had of course caught the attention of some of the demons who had made a strange noise of anger before launching toward her. She quickly went to notch another arrow and shot it toward those coming her way, purifying most of them except one that was continued to closing in so she quickly infused her power into the bow instead and swing the bow to knock the demon away and purified it at the same time.

On the other hand, the man had continued to move around dodging the attacks on him and was rather lucky to be able to go unharmed after so long but that didn't mean he was not tired. He was about to run farther away toward the shrine building to hide when suddenly a demon surrounded by lilac light suddenly flew past him, causing him to abruptly stop his step as it block his path before it quickly disintegrate to nothing right in front of him.

Catching the sight of the man's abrupt stop, Kagome quickly sent another arrow flying toward the demons coming toward him from the back before she was soon close enough to him and quickly went to put up a barrier that was strong enough to purify any demons making contact with it around them.

The man was about to run away again but abruptly stopped as he noticed a lilac light screen appeared out of nowhere, blocking the path of those demons coming directly toward him, "Phew, it had been awhile since I have exercised." He had let out a tired sigh as he looked around in confusion before landing his glazed toward the girl holding onto a bow, "Oh, when did you get here? Do you know what happened?"

Kagome really want to rolled her eyes at the man, he didn't seem that worried about the situation than she had found if he could still had a normal conversation at a time like this, "As you can see, we are currently being surrounded and attacked by demons." She just point out without explaining more on their situation or about the barrier surrounding them.

"Oh, so they are demons like the one appear on my phone?" The man didn't really seem surprised at what he had just heard as he just took out his phone and staring at it.

Kagome was slightly curious of what the man was talking about but there were more important things on hand, she turned to look around to see the remaining few demons had stop launching toward them but was just surrounding them making loud anger noise. It confused her a little when she saw they were not attacking but soon realised that they were waiting when she sense more demons coming their way.

"More are coming." Kagome frowned as she wondered where those demons came from, there seems to be no end to them which could be a problem, "You should go hide in the shrine." She only took a look at the man to tell him as she took out an arrow and sent it flying toward those demons that block the way toward the shrine.

The man stared confusedly at the girl as he watched a glowing arrow flew through the light dome toward the demon, disintegrate those demon in it path while he was soon snapped out of his staring by the girl pushing him toward the shrine side lightly.

"Go." Kagome reach out for another arrow after that, this time only notching it in prepared to fire it toward those that were to go after the man.

The man didn't need to be told the second time as he heard more noise coming from the direction of their only escape route, he quickly turned to ran toward the shrine building but hesitated for a moment when he was about to go pass the lilac light screen before closing his eyes to ran passed it and was actually a bit surprised that he didn't feel anything at all.

Kagome quickly sent her purifying arrow out toward those demons that were going to go after the man, purifying another two of them at the same time while blocking any remaining demons way as the man quickly went out of sight when he turned around the corner.

She didn't paused on her motion and notched another arrow to point it toward the opening, there in the sky were many same flying demons closing in from the right sight of the staircase.

"Where do they come from?" Kagome frowned and wondered out loud at the amount of demons coming toward the shrine ground, she quickly release her arrow and purified six of them close to each other at the same time as the remaining demons around her finally decided to attack her with multiple green blades at the same time but was of course block by her barrier.

It didn't take her long to realise there were too many of those demons for her to handle alone, she had repeatedly fire arrows to purified them but there were still many entering the shrine ground and soon spread around her in the front yard and attack her with those green blades together. The barrier could hardly handle that many attacks at the same time as it started flickering at the contact so she had to put her attention to focus on maintaining her barrier by putting more power into it but that certainly didn't help much with her situation as she was soon being completely surround.

"This is bad..." Her frown had only tightened at that, she could also sense some of them went farther into the shrine ground which worried her the most, "I have to think of a way to finish them off somehow and fast."

Putting more power into her barrier, Kagome suddenly recalled a memories she had gotten after being possessed by the miko Tsukiyomi. She had not once release her power in wide

area before but it was the only way to quickly finish off the demons surrounding her so that she could went after those that had enter farther into the shrine ground.

"Hope it work." Kagome took a deep breath as she focus on the large amount of spiritual power held in her body and tried to bring more out to increased the power of the barrier for what she intended to do before imagine the barrier expand outwards.

Soon the lilac light barrier began to glow brighter before it expand outwards, repelling off the green blades attacks and also purified any demons that get caught in the purifying power to nothing.

???

In an unknown large room with multiple computers and a few large screens in the middle, a group of people wearing that almost all black uniform had noticed something through the computer program.

Soon the lilac light barrier began to glow brighter before it expand outwards, repelling off the green blades attacks and also purified any demons that get caught in the purifying power to nothing.

???

"Narrowing down the location……" A male state, taken a moment to narrowing down the area before continued, "The signal is coming from Higurashi Shrine!"

"Multiple Demons signal was also detected on Higurashi Shrine but their number was repeatedly decreasing." Another male state next as he typing away on the keyboard before widen his eyes at what he had found next, "There are more Demons signal detect going toward the shrine!"

"Sent Agents to confirm the situation there." Order the silver-haired young man standing above watching the large screen without much emotion on his face but there was a very slight gleam of interest in his eyes regarding the situation.

"Yes, sir!" Another one of the male respond before making the necessary call.

Shibuya, Higurashi Shrine

Souta was sitting in the living room sofa impatiently waiting for his sister to come back, he really want to know what had happened but he was worried for his sister so when he had heard more noise coming from outside, he finally couldn't stay still anymore and ignoring his promised to ran out of the house toward the sound. He soon noticed a bright lilac light coming from the front yard of the shrine ground and ran there without thinking and realising the danger he was in.

Back in the front yard of the shrine ground, Kagome stood in the middle of the bright lilac light barrier watching every one of those demons being caught off guard by her sudden action cried out in agony before they one by one disintegrate to nothing.

"It work somehow……" Kagome put down the barrier with a tired sighed when every demons surround her were purified, it seem she had used more power than she had intend to since she was not familiar with using and controlling that much power like that even with her self-training for the past year after the well close.

"AH!!!"

"Souta!"

Snapping Kagome out of her thought was a loud scream, she quickly ran toward the direction of the screams just in time to see Souta fall onto the ground with an horrified look as two flying demons that had previously escaped from her began to send green blades down toward him.

"Souta, stay still!" Kagome warned her brother as she quickly notched an arrow and sent it flying toward the wind blades to neutralise the attack while continuing running forward, stopping right in front of Souta as the two demons decided to launch down toward them directly this time.

"Sis!" Souta called out in worry but Kagome didn't really have time to reassure him as she was focusing on putting up a purifying barrier around them.

In the next second, the two demons groaned in agony as they made contact with the barrier before disappearing into nothing to Souta's surprise. Kagome on the other hand had taken a moment to check out her surrounding, making sure no more demons were anywhere near them before bringing down her barrier.

"Are you alright, Souta?" Kagome turned to ask her brother with concern as she reached out her empty hand to help him up.

Souta just nodded lightly, still looking somewhat frightened and stunned at everything that had happened as he robotically stood up with his sister's help.

Kagome was just relieved to know that her brother was unharm and safe, she really couldn't imagine what would happen to him if she had come a moment later. She might need to think of a way to protect Souta better without getting him involved in a fight since he didn't had any power to protect himself from demons.

'Maybe a protective charm will work for him……Well, if I have any idea on how to make one.' Kagome now really wished that she had spent some time training her power with either Miroko or Keade during her feudal era adventure but it was not the time to think about it as she could sense more demonic presence nearing the shrine ground.

"Let's go, we have to leave now." Kagome instantly decided as she dragged Souta along with her, they would have to leave the place before being completely surrounded and trapped by large amounts of demons coming their way.

"Good to see you are alright." Just as the two came near the long staircase, the suit man from earlier came walking out from a corner.

"Who is he?" Souta stared at the unknown man with slight curiosity.

"I don't really know……" Kagome honestly answered, not really caring about the man's identity but at least she could sense nothing bad coming from him.

"Oh, I'm Akie Yuzuru. You can just call me Joe. What about you two?" The man began to introduce himself with a smile as he just stared at the two younger children without any worries.

"……I'm Higurashi Kagome and he's my brother Souta." Kagome couldn't help but sweat dropped slightly by the man's joyous attitude as she introduced before stating in urgency, "Anyway, we should get going and talk later." They didn't really have time to talk so she just cut their conversation short by pulling Souta along with her toward the shrine Torii gate to leave.

"Well, maybe I should follow them……" The man, Joe stared at the two children for only a moment before he decided to follow after them.

They soon passed the Torii gate and was now halfway down the long staircase when Kagome caught sight of those flying demons coming their way from the right, it would be dangerous to either escape or engaging a battle in the middle of the stairs so she quicken her pace in hope they would reach the bottom before that.

"Go hide behind the tree, I'll handle them." Kagome said loud enough for the other two to hear as they nearly reach the bottom before slightly pushing Souta toward the left.

Souta just nodded and hurried behind one of the trees nearest to them, followed by Joe who had taken a look at the younger girl before going to hide behind another tree as Kagome quickly took out an arrow to intercept those demons before they could had a chance to attack.

More than half of the flying demons were instantly purified, leaving only those farther back who had managed to move away before being caught by the purifying blast so Kagome quickly followed up with another arrow toward a few that were still crowded together as to not waste more arrows.

"Sis, on your right!" Souta suddenly shouted out in concern from behind his hideout when he saw a strange dog beast man creature launching toward his older sister from around the corner.

Kagome was too focused on those demons in the air to notice those coming to attack from the ground but that didn't stop her from reacting immediately by the warning, she quickly put up a purifying barrier just in time to block the claw coming her way and instantly purified the dog beast man demon making contact with the barrier before noticing the wind blades coming down toward somewhere else other than her.

"Souta!" Kagome screamed for her younger brother for the second time in concern today as the wind blades were directed toward the tree Souta was hiding from.

Without Kagome noticing, her phone had automatically open with the screen showing a hundred percent and glowed in blue light when a sudden flash of blue light appeared upward in front of her, surprising not just those around but also the people in black coat uniform coming from down the street before a female figure in green miko-like dress appeared in the beam of light and quickly flew in front of Souta to protect him with a barrier.

"What……" Souta's fear soon turned into surprise at the scene that happened right in front of him.

Kagome was only surprised for a moment, she could tell the female figure had no ill-intention toward them so she turned her attention back to deal with those attackers, quickly shooting out another arrow to purify those attacking demons in an instant.

'Leave the rest to me.'

A gentle voice suddenly rang inside Kagome's head, startling her in an instant as she look around for the source of the voice before ending on the strange female figure who had both hands facing in front toward the direction of the remaining demons and was now glowing in yellow light.

Some sort of glowing paper charm appeared floating in the air circling the remaining demons in a large area before a beam of yellow light spread out from the middle toward them all, killing those demons in an instant to all the humans surprised.

'Miko.'

The female figure's gentle voice snapped Kagome out of her staring in an instant, she turned toward the figure direction to see the barrier surrounding Souta had disappeared and the figure was now facing her.

'I'm Kushinada-hime, you can call me whenever you need my help and I'll always answer to your call.' With that, Kushinada-hime disappeared in a blink of blue light before a sound was heard coming from Kagome's pocket.

Kagome pulled out her phone from the pocket to see the 'Demon Summoning App' had opened on its own, this time showing a profile of Kushinada-hime instead of downloading on the scene like before which only confirmed her guess on the demon being her summoned demon.

"Are you the summoner?" An unknown male voice asked as a few footsteps stopped beside the staircase.

Kagome quickly turned in surprise to see five people wearing a rather familiar black uniform stop a few steps away from her, the one who asked the question was the man standing right in front.

"Sis?" Before Kagome could question them, Souta stepped out of his hiding place and called out to his sister hesitatingly.

"Souta, are you alright?" Kagome instantly ignored the unknown five to go check on her younger brother.

Souta just nodded in response before landing his glaze on the five in the same uniform, "Sis, who are they?" He asked rather softly so that the others couldn't hear it.

"I don't know." Kagome shook her head before turning to the five, a bit alert at their sudden appearance.

"We are a special government organization, the Japan Meteorological Society, JP's." The man from before introduced themselves before continuing his previous topic, "I will need to know if you are the one summoning the demon."

Kagome widened her eyes slightly in surprise, she had not once guessed they were from the government and much less having any knowledge of demons, it made her rather hesitate in answering as she had no idea what they would do with the answer.

"What would you do if I said yes?" Kagome asked warily, deciding to make sure first before really answering.

"I'll have you come with us." The man answered only made Kagome frowned but he just ignored it to continue, "You are also the one releasing a large amount of spiritual power so no matter the answer, I'll need you to come with us." His glaze ended up landing on the girl's bow.

Kagome was shocked that they had known about her spiritual power, she had no idea how they had gotten that knowledge but they must have watched the fight earlier to be so sure of it.

"Sis?" Souta called out to his sister in uncertainty, he could tell they were somewhat in trouble.

"Everything will be fine." Kagome tried to assure her brother even though she had doubted, she had to try to get out of the situation as she still had much more important things to do than following those JP's people to didn't know where.

"Don't make us use force to bring you with us." The man warned as he took out his phone in preparation for a fight instead of a weapon.

Kagome held onto her phone, wondering if Kushinada-hime could help in the situation but she didn't really want to have a fight with humans when they had to deal with the demons that appeared out of nowhere now.

"I can't go with you all." Kagome said as calmly as possible, noticing their unpleasant stare immediately so she explained, "I can't just leave my brother here alone when my family were still missing and I also have to save a friend from being killed by a demon in an unknown shrine."

"How do you know someone is going to get killed?" The woman standing on the right of the man asked.

"Death clip from Nicaea." Kagome replied without any hesitation, the death clip was not something she had to worry about since JP's could only use it to save those that were going to be dead.

Kagome brings up her phone, immediately making the JP's people tense up and alert, which only confirms they knew what a phone could do while she just ignored their reaction to show them the death clip she had received.

"This……" The same woman as before gasped at what she had seen on the phone's screen facing them.

"Please, let me go help my friend, the video really shows what was going to happen if no one went to change the outcomes." Kagome pleaded, wanting them to believe her so that she could go save Daichi.

The JP's members look between each other, looking a bit unsure before a ringing tone was heard and the man from before answered the phone, speaking lightly and then nodding before ending the call.

"Your brother can come along with us, we'll also have someone check the shrine in the video and look for your family." The man turned back to tell Kagome to the girl's relief before he added, "I'll have you hand me your phone and weapon before we leave."

Kagome hesitated for a moment before handing the two things to them, she could still use her spiritual power to defend herself and Souta from demons without a bow so she might as well just listen to them for now since they were still agreeable enough.

Unknown to them all, Joe was currently hiding behind another tree as he quietly watched everything that had happened with a worried frown yet he chose not to step out since he had no way to help the two kids out.

This is the end of the chapter, I hope everyone enjoyed the fight scene between Kagome and the demons. I had actually made a different plan of the fight scene where Kagome had to fight with a stronger demon that came out of a seal that was broken by those flying demons but I end up having her fighting group after group of demons instead as the battle with an unseal demons in the shrine ground would be similar to Daichi's scene in the shrine. Maybe I would write that scene in the future but that would have to wait for later as I had to focus on the Day 1 event first. Anyway, Joe won't be appearing again anytime soon as I will be following the anime appearance of him. Lastly, this story will follow the mix of the game and anime and additional scenes because of Kagome.
