11: Healing Touch
O.O.O
A/N: This one has a bit of a prequel to it which I wrote for the birthday week prompts for Sailor Venus in 2023. Find it here.
Warnings for this one: It deals with dissociative disorder and it involves use of sex magic to heal mental trauma. If you have real mental health problems you should seek professional help. There also is a bit of angst without a happy ending. Not a terrible one but…well you've been warned.
O.O.O
The sea of tranquility has stopped moving
Mamoru's body froze as he saw the message appear in the lens of his high tech mask. He cleared his throat, mentioned something about a pressing engagement, and closed all of the holographic communications he had running to end the meeting.
Mamoru got up, made his way out of his office, and towards the situation room. He did not make it the entire way when he found Zosite waiting for him with a look of sympathy on his face.
"Where is she?" Mamoru asked, not stopping to wait for the answer as he kept walking through the halls.
"Your spare bedroom," Zoisite replied as he began walking to keep pace with the King. "Venus noticed it when they had just finished up a visit at the children's ward at the hospital for the Queen's weekly visit."
"Makes sense, she does enjoy being there and bringing joy to all the kids who are in the recovery wing," Mamoru observed as he had a general idea where he was heading. "And my girls?"
"In the living room," Zoisite answered, already knowing the procedure for this type of event. "They just got out of school, and I informed Princess Usagi of the situation. She apparently challenged Princess Kousagi to a game to keep her distracted."
"Excellent," Mamoru nodded, trying to remain calm. "Let's get their orders and then we can get them dinner."
Zoisite chuckled. A gesture which did not go unnoticed by the King.
"Something you find amusing?" Mamoru wondered, arching an eyebrow at his strategist's behavior.
"You're a wise king, a compassionate father, and the love for your wife is as potent now as it was 2000 years ago," Zoisite explained, listing his King's better qualities. "I just find it funny one of your best plans involves greasy cheeseburgers and a case of the runs."
"Hey don't knock it," Mamoru shrugged as they made it to the living room. "It works surprisingly well."
Once they reached the living room, Zoisite separated from the King to begin helping the others to fill in for the absence of the monarchy while they were indisposed. Taking a deep breath, Mamoru put on his best fake smile as he grabbed the handles to the doors.
"Okay girls guess what we haven't done in a while?" Mamoru asked as he opened the doors to the living room. "Super snack night!"
Mamoru immediately realized something was wrong. The girls were not placing a game and only Chibi-Usa turned to give him a concerned look when he entered the room. Kousagi didn't move, instead continuing to lean against her sister's shoulder.
"What's wrong Kousagi?" Mamoru wondered, rounding the couch to bend down in front of his girls. "You always love Super snack night."
"I think she knows," Chibi-Usa answered when Kousagi didn't say anything.
"Papa," Kousagi sniffled as she stared up at Mamoru. The look in his youngest daughter's eyes made Mamoru's heart clench. "Is something wrong with mama? We only have super snack nights when mom acts weird. Is she going to die?"
"Honey no," Mamoru shook his head, as he slid onto the couch next to Kousagi. "Your mama is going to be fine."
"But…when we have snack nights," Kousagi began, lowering her head and sniffling. It was not hard for Mamoru to spot the tears burning in the corner of her eyes. "It's when I'm not allowed to see her because…um…Chibi-Usa said mommy needs to have treatment. Is she sick? Why does she need treatment?"
"She's not going to die sweetie," Mamoru insisted, as he lifted up and rubbed the tears away from Kousagi's eyes. "Yes, she does need treatments but it's not for anything deadly. It's for well…"
Kousagi sniffled loudly and Mamoru's heart tightened. He decided he had no choice but to explain his wife's complicated mental disorder to a child. Mamoru began to wish he could sit through one of Fujiyama's budget meetings instead of having this conversation.
"Well honey," Mamoru sighed, rubbing his neck. "Your mom has faced some very tough opponents in her day. One of them hurt daddy very badly and when mommy felt it, she couldn't believe it happened at all. She actually refused to believe it happened and actually thought daddy was avoiding her."
"Really?" Kousagi asked, cocking his head to the side.
"Oh yeah," Mamoru continued. "This powerful enemy managed to beat up your Aunties and Mommy had to fight her alone and it was scary."
Kousagi paused for a moment to process what her father told her. "So mommy gets like this because she's scared."
"Actually," Mamoru coughed, making sure he was explaining the situation clearly. "She gets like this because she's too happy."
"Too happy?" Kousagi parroted, tilting her head.
"I know it's hard to understand but there are times when mommy actually can't believe this is real," Mamoru clarified, trying to make sure he was explaining it clearly. "That she can be this happy. That all we have you, your sister, and the kingdom we take care of is real. She thinks it must be a dream."
"That's why we have super snack night," Chibi-Usa added, squeezing her sister's shoulder. "To remind her it's not a dream."
"Oh okay," Kousag beamed, a feeling of relief spreading over the youngest princess. "So, mommy will be fine."
"Mommy will be fine," Mamoru agreed, nodding. "Just make sure to get her favorite items, especially those fries with the cheese and bacon on top."
"I will daddy I promise," Kousagi vowed as she hopped off the couch and went to find her data crystal to look up menus for dinner.
"She's getting big," Mamoru commented as he got to his feet. He smiled at Chibi-Usa but noticed a rather serious expression on his eldest daughter's face. "Everything okay? Do you know what you're getting for dinner?"
"Yeah…but are you okay dad?" Chibi-Usa wondered, a look of concern in her eyes. "I know this can't be easy."
"Actually," Mamoru smiled, as he looked at his eldest daughter. He was proud of how big she was getting and how mature she was in times of crisis. "When it comes to taking care of your mother I am always on call. I'll be more than happy to handle this as long as you can keep an eye on your sister."
"I didn't know what to tell her," Chibi-Usa confessed with a shrug. "I passed on the message from Uncle Zoisite that it was Snack Night and I didn't know what to tell her when she asked if mommy was sick."
"You did fine," Mamoru insisted, squeezing Chibi-Usa's shoulder. "You are growing into one hell of a ruler. One of these days I know you'll make an incredible queen."
"Does that mean my curfew can be lifted and I can stay out until 1 to go to a concert with Helios?" Chibi-Usa wondered, batting her eyelashes at her father. The older princess had copied the technique from her mother and it truly did have a way of making Mamoru falter in his decisions.
"Don't push it," Mamoru chuckled and received a pout from Chibi-Usa in response. He moved his hand from her shoulder to cheek and stroked it with his thumb. "I promise to talk with your mother about it when she is feeling better."
"Papa, can I help you heal mommy?" Kousagi asked, a tone of absolute cheer in her voice. "I can use my powers."
"Well I," Mamoru stammered realizing how the suggestion would throw a wrench into his plans. He had been instructing Kousagi on how to heal people since she had inherited his healing touch. However, the process to heal his wife was very…intimate. "You see…."
"It puts papa at ease when he's the one who helps mom recover from these episodes," Chibi-Usa jumped, noting her father's surprised expression at her claim. "I've seen how you look after mommy recovers from these episodes. You look very calm after you help her."
"Indeed I am," Mamoru agreed, hoping his daughter didn't know the full reason why he preferred to be the one to help his wife. Seeing his daughters were safe and would allow him to take care of their mother, Mamoru left the living room. "Now you two get her dinner order together. Don't forget to get me an order of mozzarella sticks."
With his daughters secure, Mamoru made his way to the guest room. Though they called it the "guest" room, no guests had ever stayed in it. The room was stocked with the toys and equipment the pair used when they were alone together. It was also the room where Mamoru stored all the tools he needed to help coax his wife out of these episodes of delusion.
When he reached the guest room door he took a deep breath to psych himself up before he went inside. The room was dimly lit by the turned down lights. The Senshi had left the queen in a low stimulus environment knowing it helped to escalate her condition. He approached slowly not wanting to startle her in her disoriented state.
"Usako," Mamoru called softly. "It's me. It's Mamoru."
"Mamo, mamo, mamo, no," Usagi rumbled as she looked off into space. It crushed Mamoru's heart to see her blue eyes unfocused, unable to grasp where she was. "No…no. She killed you. Galaxia dropped you into the Cauldron. You disappeared…you…Chibi-Usa…everyone…gone."
"No darling," Mamoru whispered as he took her hand and slowly transferred a bit of his energy. He had to go slow as there was a huge difference between healing physical and mental wounds. With mental wounds he had to progress slowly and cautiously or risk harm to the other person. His healing energy reached out and had to perfectly sync with the star seed of the person he was trying to heal.
Usagi, who possessed one of the most powerful star seeds in the universe, had an energy surplus. Mamoru had to approach with great caution. Even though he had synced with his wife mentally, physically, and spiritually on multiple occasions the star seed was still a volatile element he had to treat with absolute care. It served as a double edged sword. Usagi's supercharged star seed protected her from mental corruption but also made the mental scars she held much harder to heal. Mamoru was not deterred though as he dedicated himself to helping heal his wife when she experienced these moments of disillusionment. It began with a gentle pulse of energy while holding her hand. This was only to help establish a line of communication and let Usagi know he was present. This was only the beginning of the healing process.
"I'm here," Mamoru softly insisted, rubbing his thumb affectionately over her knuckles while holding her hand. "I am here and you are safe. It's just the two of us."
"W-where," Usagi stammered, slowly processing what Mamoru was saying.
"You're safe," Mamour reassured her. He always made sure to keep things simple as she adjusted to her surroundings. Remind her she was the queen of the Earth, the strongest star seed holder in the universe and the mother of two was overwhelming for Usagi on a normal day. Instead he kept it simple. Mamoru was simply a man, pampering the woman he loved. "We're alone. I'm going to take care of you."
"Mamo…mamo," Usagi muttered as she slowly became aware of her husband's voice. "I…I am…"
"You're home," Mamoru answered, leaning forward and kissing her forehead. "You're in the home we made together. Now, I am going to pamper you."
"Pamper me?" Usagi parroted, a happy tone slipping into her voice. "I like to be pampered."
"I know you do," Mamoru breathed in her ear before planting a firm kiss on her cheek. "Now stand up and I can begin your special treatment."
"I like special treatment," Usagi cooed as Mamoru helped her to her feet. With an elegant touch, he slipped her gown off her body until it pooled around her ankles. Thanks to her gowns having built-in bras (at least in most of them), Usagi stood in only a pair of bikini panties and heels. The sight made Mamoru's member strain against the contours of his pants but he shook his head and tried to remain focused.
"Right this way my darling," Mamoru instructed as he took Usagi's hand and led her to where a massage table had been set up. "Lay down."
Usagi did as instructed and laid with her face in the cushioned hole. Mamoru slid off her shoes and tossed them on his wife's discarded dress.
"Computer," Mamoru addressed the room. "Play healing mix three."
"At once King Endymion," The computer replied in its courteous voice.
With his wife half naked and lying prone on the massage table, Mamoru walked to the closest dresser. He pulled open the top drawer and was greeted with the sight of a multitude of different bottles containing lotions and oils. He grabbed some heated oil and returned to his wife's side. Opening the lid he poured a good portion of the liquid on the middle of Usagi's back causing her to shiver as the warming oil touched her skin. Placing the bottle on the nearby table Mamoru began to spread the oil all over Usagi's back and shoulders.
"You carry so much tension here love," Mamoru commented as he massaged the area between the neck and shoulders. He slowly worked the stress knots out with a mixture of firm and gentle pressure. "If I could…I'd strip you of everything."
"Most men wish to give their women the world," Mamoru continued as he moved down to her lower back and bottom. He slid her panties off with ease, his cock throbbing at the act. Again he found areas of discomfort and worked to remove them but found himself becoming increasingly aroused as he gave attention to his wife's bare ass. " Me…I want to take things away. If I could I'd remove every responsibility you have, throw you and our girls into a vehicle, and drive off into the sunset."
Mamoru's hands continued to descend, working to relax Usagi's thighs and legs. He could feel her calf muscles, just as toned as when she fought evil as Sailor Moon. Her insistence on wearing heeled shoes on a daily basis was the cause. "We'd find someway to help the community on a more personal level, and you'd be able to get back to your artwork and get your manga out. In truth, I'm curious how you were going to end your Silver Moon Age series. I was hoping it would end with the main character living happily ever after."
Making it to her feet, Mamoru ran a finger over them just right to cause a low giggle to escape her lips. After chuckling from watching her reaction, Mamoru went to work on giving her feet a proper massage. "Of course, happily ever after is not easy. We're living proof of it. Even to this day we have to fight constantly to keep our marriage, our family, and our friends safe and secure. You have done enough, far more than others can even fathom. If there was anyway to make it so you didn't have to keep fighting, believe I'd do it. I'd even consider selling my soul to the devil but…he wouldn't accept the offer. Not when he would know my soul already belongs to you."
With gentle tactile cues, Mamoru helped Usagi roll onto her back. Usagi's eyes fluttered open but they remained unfocused.
"I am here," Mamoru began, looking deep into his wife's unfocused eyes. He leaned in and gently placed a kiss on her lips again, letting his healing energy flow into her. "...You are here."
Pulling away, Mamoru began to massage Usagi's temples as her eyes focused and slowly became aware of her surroundings. She locked onto Mamoru and a smile formed on her face.
"Mamo-chan," Usagi cooed as she closed her eyes and relished her husband's gentle caress. "Did it…happen again?"
"Yes," Mamoru answered as he moved from her head to her left arm and began to work the tension out. "It's only been a few hours. I'm getting very skilled at these healing sessions."
"You always do know where to touch me," Usagi sighed with happiness, fluttering her eyes at Mamoru as he kept rubbing her muscles."Any chance you'll let me return the favor?"
"Not today Usako. That's not how this works," Mamoru reminded her. After the massage and meal of junk food the last part of treatment involved her sleeping alone. "Between the stomachache of our dinner a bit of separation these episodes become less frequent."
"But I hate it," Usagi pouted, kicking her legs in protest. A smile formed on Mamoru's face watching his wife have an adorable mini-tantrum. "I hate being in that big bed by myself."
"What if I promised to wake you up in the morning," Mamoru started before leaning in and nipping at his wife's ear. "...with my tongue."
"I guess that'd be okay," Usagi whimpered as goosebumps formed all over her body. "Only if I can get some of your cream in my tummy afterwards."
"Also," Mamoru hummed before moving his head to the valley between Usagi's neck and shoulder. "Your treatment isn't over yet."
"Oh," Usagi cues as Mamoru's fingers danced around her belly button, tickling her, and arousing her at the same time. "Mamo…stop it. You know it's not fair when you do that."
"Do what?" Mamoru wondered as straightened his fingers and began a torturously slow path towards Usagi's core."Turn you on? Love you tenderly?"
"You know what I…ah!" Usagi gasped, her entire body tensing as the tips of Mamoru's fingers made contact with her pearl. Her body arched, causing her chest to jut out, and allowing Mamoru to capture her nipple in his mouth. "Mamo-chan."
"Let yourself go, Usako," Mamoru insisted between nipping, sucking, and biting Usagi's breast. At the same time he was gently pinching Usagi's clit with his middle and index finger. "Give into the pleasure."
"No," Usagi protested, shaking her head. "I don't want to be the only one who feels good. Let me have your cock please."
"You think I'm not feeling amazing?" Mamoru wondered as he moved his mouth to Usagi's other breast. "Enjoying your exquisite taste and watching you squirm at my touch? It makes me feel incredible."
"But," Usagi stammered but stopped on a gasp as one of Mamoru's fingers entered her deep. He thrust the finger in and out at a steady pace and made Usagi 's toes curl. "You don't play fair."
"I never will," Mamoru admitted, as he moved his head and licked Usagi's neck. He slipped a second finger into her wet flower and increased his tempo. "Not when it comes to making sure my wife experiences bliss."
"Mamo," Usagi whimpered, biting her lip and trying her hardest not to climax too soon. Her weak protests dried up as she surrendered to Mamoru's treatment. She especially knew there was no fighting it when Mamoru's two fingers touched her g-stop again and again. Between breaths, her eyes rolled back in her head and she saw stares, her entire body exploding with pleasure.
Slowly Mamoru withdrew his fingers from his wife's core and returned her to laying back against the massage table. Usagi continued to pant as she again had to readjust herself to her surroundings.
"I don't want to sleep alone tonight," Usagi whined, when she was finally able to form full sentences again. The loneliness mixed with the upset stomach from eating a junk food dinner helped to ground her mind, prevent her delusional episodes, and helped to remind Usagi how her life was far from perfect. Just because she understood it didn't mean she accepted the process. "I want to ride you like a rodeo champ. Please? I'll even get out my cowgirl hat and the little vest that matches it."
"You have no idea how tempting that is," Mamoru admitted as he made his way to the dresser in the room. It took all his willpower to ignore the erection in his pants as he opened one of the drawers and pulled a pair of gray sweatpants and an old Hello Kitty sweatshirt. The kind of outfit his wife still enjoyed relaxing in when she didn't have any responsibilities for the night. "Still, it's just for the night. And if you are a good girl I'll wake the way I said I would."
"You promise?" Usagi wondered, making sure to puff out her lip as she batted puppy dog eyes at Mamoru. It reminded him of the expression Chibi-Usa had made earlier.
"I promise," Mamoru replied as he handed Usagi the outfit. "Now hurry up and get dressed. Kousagi has become aware of your condition. You are going to have to explain to her how there she had nothing to worry about."
Once Usagi was dressed, the two of them had dinner with their daughters and Usagi took the time to explain to Kousagi how, thanks to Mamoru's healing, she was fine and wasn't going to die any time soon.
After the junk food dinner and the two princesses were put to bed, Mamoru and Usagi went their separate ways for the evening. Exhausted from the emotional toll of the day, Mamoru sat in his chair behind his desk nursing a glass of whisky on the rocks. He tried to disconnect from the stress as she did his best to not to reflect on the sensual message he had given his wife and how the erection in his pants wouldn't let him forget it. He hated this part of the process but it had proven to be effective in ensuring the episodes of disillusionment were few and far between. Besides, it was just for the night and Mamoru fully intended to keep his promise to wake Usagi up with some morning cunnilingus tomorrow.
"Yummy," Mamoru commented to himself at the thought of his wife's core. He took another sip of his whisky hoping it would take care of his erection but he knew it wasn't cutting it. He was about to put the glass down, undo his pants, and take care of himself when a knock came at his door.
"It is open," Mamoru called. The doors to his office opened and Setsusna entered. It was always hard for Mamoru to read the guardian of time as she masked her emotions even better than he did.
"Good evening your majesty," Setsuna greeted the King before closing the door behind her. The use of the phrase 'your majesty' immediately put Mamoru on edge. "I have something important I wish to discuss with you."
"Of course by all means," Mamoru replied, directing Setsuna to take a seat on the opposite side of the desk. "What's on your mind?"
"You know my weekly meetings with the queen," Setsuna pointed out as she sat down. "The ones where I have been showing her alternate realities."
"I do indeed," Mamoru acknowledged while taking a long sip of his drink. He needed the booze to distract himself from the memories of what usually occurred after their lunches and how it involved some very incredible sexual moments. "She looks forward to them. Though I do question the frequency of them. Could you maybe scale them back to maybe twice a month? I think she could use a bit of breather."
"No, I don't think that would be the best idea," Setsuna corrected, clearing his throat. "Not for what is coming."
Mamoru froze. When he finally was able to move he placed his glass on the desk, folded his hands, and stared intently at Setsuna. "Please explain."
"Our lunches have been a cover to explore the alternate realities and Usagi understands the importance of the bonds she has created with others of the years," Setsuna chose her words carefully, worried about how Mamoru would react. "My hope is that she remembers the lessons of love and friendship. "
"I don't think she would ever be able to forget such a thing," Mamoru replied, furrowing his brows at Setsuna's suggestion. His wife was the kindest individual he had ever met. There was no way she would ever forget about the plight of others.
"It could very well happen," Setsuna sighed, taking a deep breath before she continued. "If she was forced to be alone. For a long period of time until she starts to forget her memories of who she was and what she fought for."
"How would that happen?" Mamoru dismissed the idea with a wave of his hand. Suddenly his heart skipped a beat as a horrible possibility sent a chill down his very spine. "…unless."
"Yes," Setsuna nodded, confirming Mamoru's fears. "I have glimpsed the future and found there is a 98% chance we are going to a future where the Queen ascends to become the guardian of the Galactic Cauldron and becomes Sailor Cosmos."
"It would also mean," Setsuna swallowed, a look of absolute grief in her eyes. It was apparent what she would say next was hard for her to say. "When she ascends to the position, it would mean the bond you two share…the bond of soulmates…it…it would be severed. I am sorry but I think she is fated to become Sailor Cosmos."
The word fate was held in deep condemnation by the members of the royal council. They had long ago learned the difference between destiny and fate. Destiny was achievable through growth and action. The bonds of soulmates had helped Mamoru and Usagi find each other, as well as the Sailor Senshi to find their Shitennou husbands but it was only through hard work and devotion did any of their marriages stay healthy. They had achieved their destiny by fighting for it.
Fate on the other hand was much more cruel. Fate involved events they had no control over. Nothing they could do would change them. The idea of a future, a fate where Usagi would have no choice but to become Sailor Cosmos was Mamoru's worst nightmare.
Mamoru didn't move or respond. His entire body tensed up at the idea of his bond with Usagi being broken and the loneliness she would face as Sailor Cosmos. Mamoru's mind was filled with the memories of the last time he had stood before the Galactic Cauldron. How a great evil had thrown him into the Cauldron causing his death and requiring Usagi to fight harder than she had ever fought before alone, save for the small child known as Chibi Chibi fighting by her side.
Chibi Chibi was more than a small child. She was in actuality Sailor Cosmos, a mighty warrior and the guardian of the cauldron from the future. She was also Usagi. A version of Usagi who had been selected by the cauldron to stand guard against Chaos to ensure the star seeds were free to fly out into the universe safely. Cosmos had assumed the form of Chibi Chibi to once again feel her mother's love to find a way to escape her eternal cycle of battle and duty against the entity known as Chaos.
Mamoru reached down, grabbed his glass, and drained its contents. The idea of a cruel fate, one they did not have the ability to change or fight tore at his very soul. The thought of his beloved wife forced to endure such hell and he would be powerless to free her. The very suggestion of their connection as soulmates would be severed made him want to vomit. With his drink finished, Mamoru pressed the glass against his head trying to get relief from the ice still inside.
"Please leave the room and guard the door," Mamoru instructed, keeping the glass pressed against his forehead. "Then I want you to ignore whatever noises you hear."
"Mamoru-sama?" Setsuna asked, arching his brow.
"Setsuna," Mamoru pleaded, taking the glass away from his head and staring at the guardian of time. "Please leave and don't let anyone enter for the next hour."
Setsuna took a deep breath before nodding and exiting the room. Alone, Mamoru rose from his chair and walked over to the old fashion globe in the corner. He lifted it in the middle and revealed a wide selection of liquor. He placed his empty glass on an empty section, grabbed the bottle of whisky he was drinking, and moved towards the glass. Hesitating, Mamoru stared at the bottle intensely before bringing the container to his lips. He drained the near full container not caring if it was a sipping whisky as he hoped the intense burn might smother the feelings building in his stomach.
"Ah," Mamoru grunted, as he polished off the bottle. As his throat burned in discomfort, Mamoru shifted on his heel, threw the bottle across the room, and watched as it shattered when it hit the wall. Turning back to the globe liquor bar, Mamoru kicked the structure over, and spilled its contents to the ground, not carrying many of the bottles had been gifts from friends and associates. His body fueled by rage, Mamoru moved to his own desk, bent down, and flipped it over spilling its contents to his office floor.
"Why!?" Mamoru roared to the ceiling before dropping to his hands and knees. His breath came out labored as he stared at the floor and clenched his jaw so tight it was a wonder it didn't lock up. "Hasn't she done enough? She fought harder than anyone! Sacrificed a simple life! Ensured unnecessary hatred of countless who misunderstand her. When is it enough?"
Mamoru began pounding the ground with his bare fists, blood splattering as he skin broke from the repeated strikes. Outside his office Setsuna waved off half a dozen servants who approached the king's office to check on the disturbance. She insisted everything was fine but the lump of emotion in her throat betrayed her usual stony demeanor.
It was only as his hands began to shake from the raw pain did Mamoru stop his assault on the floor. He moved to his knees and began rubbing his knuckles to alleviate the discomfort. He didn't use his healing powers to remove the wounds, instead using the injury to keep himself focused.
"Why?" Mamoru wondered, tears of despair falling from the corner of his eyes. "Why must fate be so cruel to someone so full of love and kindness?"
Mamoru fell to his side numb at the thought of Usagi being forced to endure loneliness for all eternity. He would wake up the next morning with a massive hangover but with a new sense for purpose with the intent to find a way to save the woman he loved. But that night the King slept on the floor weeping bitterly at the idea of the worst popular fate for Usagi.
O.O.O
A/N: Yeah, bit of a cliffhanger. Come on, you knew if I was going to make 20 chapters I was going to have to add a bit of drama and suspense to this series. The side-plot of Mamoru finding a way to save his wife from the loneliness of Sailor Cosmos is going to be brought up in future chapters.
Part of this idea came from a Sailor Headcanon entry on Tumblr which said:
The worst thing that ever happened to Usagi was in Stars, in the period where she thought Mamoru was alive (and ignoring her) after we knew he had been killed by Galaxia. Even in the future in Crystal Tokyo, Usagi dissolves into tears just thinking about how she had to suffer like that. She never really gets over it; her worst nightmare came true when she was only 16. Not to mention the death of her friends and the traumatic fight against Shadow Galactica and Chaos. Usagi's subconscious protected her from the shock of Mamoru's death back then, but now there's a part of NQS that wonders if the utopia she built is real at all. In the back of her mind, she wonders if her subconscious is protecting her again from a grimmer reality… because the idea of a utopia after everything she's been through seems too good to be true at times.
I also wanted to express the importance of the difference between fate and destiny. Fate are the events in the future people have no control over. Destiny on the other hand are events which have the potential of occurring but only if people are willing to work for them. It's important for all who are using the "screw destiny" talk when trashing Usagi and Mamoru's relationship to understand their future only comes to pass if they work for it and devote themselves to one another. I mean the entire story of Sailor Moon is of the cast fighting for a destiny where they are able to find happiness together.
Reviews are love and they keep me going.
