The mistakes of a different world

He cut a bite of his cake and ate it, his eye roamed around the university garden. The cake was too sweet, yet he couldn't stop himself from tearing up while eating it.

He never had this luxury in his life. He always fought for what was right, for his people's equality, until he lost his way, and in the end, he was just an obsessed idiot.

His eye spotted the dark-haired girl walking across the campus, her amber eyes shining in the daylight, while her black ears were facing forward. She looked as beautiful as ever, walking confidently with her head raised high.

There wasn't discrimination here, not in this world, at least, which was the question.

After his… departure, he woke up here, a 4th year medical student in Beacon University. It took a while until his memory of this world came back.

How a Psychopath stabbed him in the eye, how General- officer Ironwood helped him and took him to the hospital, how Jacques Schnee saved his life and gave him an eye patch with SDC, Schnee Diagnose Center on it.

He smiled at him and told him every life mattered, and at that point, the him from this world wanted to be a doctor like Jacques, and it disgusted him.

How did the one who made him suffer his entire life now become the one who saved him, the one who branded him, but now, differently, he took a deep breath and released it. He looked back to the girl, and noticed a few Muscular men walking behind her.

He left his desert with a tip and followed them to a dark corner. He found them pinning her to the walk.

"Leave her alone." He simply said that, holding back his anger. She looked his way, her eyes widening, clearly scared. His partner wouldn't be scared of people like this, and yet, his partner wasn't ok with his actions and left him.

"Walk away one eye, or you won't have eyes anymore." The other laughed, and the girl started to tear up, scared of him leaving her alone with them, and it only angered him further.

He gripped the guy's hand, twisted it, and then kicked his stomach. He soon fell to the ground, and the other cursed and lunged at him, but he didn't move.

They kept hitting him on his jaw, stomach, kidney, head, and balls, yet he stood there motionless.

After a few seconds, they saw the blood on their hand, quickly realized it was theirs, and ran off.

"Thank you," the girl said in tears, she fell to the ground, her legs unable to hold her, his partner wasn't weak, she was strong in the face of danger, and he was that danger.

"I'm sorry." He didn't look at her; instead, he turned his back to her.

"For what?" She asked, wiping the tears.

"For my previous life, here," he said, handing her a card with his name.

"If this happens again, or you see someone following you, call me for help, I'll be there. It's the least I can do." Before she could respond, he jumped on the roof and ran off. No human nor faunus can do something like that, yet he could.

He still had his aura, his semblance, and somehow he could summon his weapon in a blink of an eye. It was convenient, but he still felt something wrong.

"I'm back, freshmen." He called, closing the door behind him

"Sup, bro, enjoying your daily garden walk?" A blonde Faunus called back, he didn't look at him, too busy playing games with the others, another blonde dude and a black-haired one.

"It was enjoyable, how's your exam?" He barely knew them, the blonde Faunus helped his partner in the previous life, and the other two were also her friends, he didn't care about them, yet this world self cared.

"I did great." He answered.

"He fucked up the exam, we had to drag him to the professor to ask for extra credit." The other blonde said, which earned him a punch from the faunus, and a chuckle from the other.

"You know if you failed, I'll need to teach you again, right?" The threat worked, sending shivers down the faunus's spine. From his memories, he could remember helping them, they passed, but they swore to never ask for help again.

He started to like his roommates somehow, he made his way to his room, closed the door, lay on the bed, and then stared at the ceiling.

This world didn't have grimm, pure evil creatures that hunted humans and faunus alike, there wasn't huntsmen, there wasn't aura.

It was just him in this world. He didn't know if it was a blessing, a curse, or the brothers showing him how bad his world was.

He didn't care. He liked this life, and maybe in some way, in time, he could call it his own.

He closed his eye, not to a peaceful dream but a reminder of what he was and had done, but now, he had taken an oath, to save lives, not to take them.

He opened his eye to the unfamiliar ceiling. His eye roamed the room, looking for traps, ambush, grimm.

He found none, and his memories came back a moment later.

He sighed and looked at the clock on the wall.

5:35 am.

He went to the bathroom and took a shower. It was a luxury for people like him, so he took his time inside.

And after he finished, he dressed up and went on with his day.

He helped wake up the freshmen, and he got used to helping new recruits adapt to their new environment, so he knew how to wake them up.

At 6:30, all four of them were at the dining table in their shared room.

"Listen up kids, it's time for chores, blonde monkey, laundry, blonde, cleaning, black hair, cooking." Assigning tasks was something normal, and this world self, or his memories, agreed with him, the monkey faunus and the black-hair kid agreed, but the blonde, not so much.

"You know we have names, right? What's mine?" His eyebrows were raised, questioning his superior would result in death, yet a smile came to his face.

"Of course I know your name, your name is blonde, blonde." They started laughing, while the blonde just growled.

His previous team wasn't like that, they couldn't laugh together like this, they all were scared of him, he was a monster after all.

He left the house, going to classes, as he didn't have work or training.

His first lasted 4 hours, mostly a slide show about basic stuff. It wasn't hard, he was a pretty good student, at the top of his class.

After the lecture, he got a free period, which he used as always.

He went to the coffee shop in the university and got a cup of Mistral special coffee mixed with Vacuo beans and his usual strawberry cake.

"Here you go sir, it's the last one." He nodded and took it.

"Noooo." He turned around and saw a short girl with black-hair with red tips screaming in agony.

His immediate thoughts were to check on her to see if she was suffering from something, but when she opened her silver eyes, she eyed his cake.

She gave him a puppy eyes look, trying her best to win his cake over, he sighed.

"The best I can do is share." She cheered up.

They sat down outside in awkward silence. He never actually met her, but she was the team leader of his partner team.

He never bothered to look into her, a human child drafted into this war way too soon and dumped with all the responsibilities of an adult, he pitted her.

"Ahh, so, what do you usually do around here?" She attempted.

"I'm studying medicine, I'm in my 4th year here. I usually come here to relax. "He took a sip of his coffee, and she did the same, she had Frappuccino with cream and chocolate sauce.

He knew that because of how long it took her to order it, there was no doubt that there was enough sugar to kill someone in it too.

"Oh, that's awesome. I'm a first-year, although I skipped some classes because of how awesome I am. By the way, I study mechanical engineering, it's so awesome, I can build machines that can help people." She had a big smile while talking about her field of study.

If this was his other world, he would have scoffed and rolled his eyes.

But here, he smiled while eating his half of the cake. He didn't plan on getting alone with any of his partner friends, but he also wasn't going out of his way to avoid them either.

"You should meet my sister, she is also studying medicine, something with muscles or something."

"You mean myology, it's the study of the muscular system, including the study of the structure, function and diseases of muscle." He explained.

"YES, that. I think it's boring, but we're starting an amazing project to make robotic parts for people who lost theirs. Isn't that cool? Using my Engineering and her knowledge with muscles and stuff, we can help people." Unlike his previous world, which was pushed to it's limit to survive, this world was much calmer, which mean less advance technology.

"I hope you succeed in your project. What do you plan on calling it?" He asked.

"I'm thinking of the Penny project, but Yang, my sister, thinks Project Harbinger as a memento for our dead uncle.".

"They both sound interesting; don't rush it, and see how you'll do financially." He warned her.

"I know, my bestie is majoring in finance, and she won't get off of my back about it." She Whined, and he had this strange feeling that he knew who she was talking about.

They went their own way.

He always thought humans were Bastards, they treated faunus like second class, underpaid, gave dangerous work positions, unfair trails, etc.

Yet, in a world full of equality, he felt strange, this was his goal, his partner's goal, and he finally achieved it.

Yet, it wasn't because of him, it wasn't because of his partner, it wasn't his world.

It felt like a cheap victory, like he didn't earn it, they suffered enough to earn it, but not him, he has done enough to be in the darkest pit of hell, and he'll gladly take it if the result is the same as this.

He walked to his next lecture until he saw Professor Ozpin. He looked his way and smiled.

"I see you going to your next lecture, how's things? I hope the freshmen that are staying with you aren't a bother, thank you for that." The professor shook his hand.

This professor, whom he helped destroy his academy, killed his students, and kept on ruining lives for people who he cared about.

And he's smiling at him like he's the purest person around, he hated it.

He wronged so many innocent people and didn't care, the same way they didn't care about faunus, yet people here keep smiling at him, he felt disgust with himself.

"They are not a bother to me sir, they are a little loud though, and I definitely enjoy their antics." He tried to fake smile to assure him everything was fine, yet, to his surprise, his smile was genuine.

"Glad to hear it. If you have a minute, I am conducting a psychological excrement, would you care to help?"

"Sure, I still have time before my lecture, what do I need to do?"

"Let's go to my office first." They walked in relative silence, other than the occasional students greeting him and thanking him for help.

A tall white-haired girl thanked him for his help with researching cave mines and how they came to be.

A ginger-haired girl thanked him for his tips for running and training.

A silver-haired guy thanked him for his help with his prosthetic legs.

A cat faunus with tattoos thanked him for staying with her through a rough time in her life.

And it only kept going, getting stopped each time for someone to thank him.

He knew them all, not from this life but from his old one.

People he killed, made them suffer, or worked with on hurting people, he could only hide behind his fake, actually genuine smile while cursing himself.

"You are quite popular, aren't you?" the professor teased.

"Please, I only did what I had to do."

"Anyway, let's start, take a seat and relax. The core of my excrement is to find awaking, which is a state of realizing something is wrong while everything is normal.

It was vague, but he trusted his professor, so he nodded.

"Good, now I would like you to tell me what's this." He showed him a picture drawn with black ink, it wasn't supposed to look like something, so he answered with the closest thing he thought.

"It looks like a normal car." He hesitated, but the professor nodded.

"Correct, and what's this?" It looked like Beacon Academy, and he was about to say that, but remember that this is Beacon University, they were similar but not the same.

"It looks like Beacon University. "

"That's correct, and now this." The picture showed spilled ink, it was in the middle of the paper, it didn't look like anything, so he thought to give a random answer, the first thing to come to mind.

"Grimm." The word slipped out of his mouth, his eye widen at the realization, but he relaxed. Grimm didn't exist here, so he shouldn't know it.

But when he looked at the professor, he saw his eyes widening in surprise and recognition.

"Interesting, you're an awakener. "The professor said, clicking a button beside him.

Suddenly, the emergency light went on, and the doors and the windows closed. He panicked, but the professor walked calmly.

"You were a good student Adam, really, you were so violent last time, and now you were just perfect, at last, you're an awakener."

He felt something was wrong, the professor knew about him, but how, why.

He couldn't think more, as something hit him hard in the back of his head, he couldn't activate his aura in time.

A woman with white hair and red eyes stared at him. He always wondered who his accomplice worked for, and how did she command the grimm when they brought Beacon to its knees, and now he worked for the Grimm itself.

"Is that him?" She asked the professor.

"Unfortunately, yes, I really liked how it turned out. We'll need to start again, he left too much of a footnote here."

"Oh my, I liked it here, at last, if we want to create the perfect work, we need to make everything else perfect too." She chuckled.

His vision started to fade; he felt the blood pouring out of him. He focused all of his aura on the wound to heal it fast, it wouldn't work, but it was buying him time.

"How long do we have?"

"A week at best, until then, try and act naturally and take nothing you like here." Professor said.

"What about him?"

"He can stay here, hardly anyone comes those days, and even if he infected someone, it's too late to do anything now." He dismissed it to his relief.

They left him along in the room, struggling for survival, his aura was healing him, but not enough, he kept losing consciousness.

"Hold on, stay with me." He opened his heavy eyes to see the blonde trying to help him.

"You can't save me, even if you get medical attention now, my aura can't keep me alive, it's too weak." He laughed hoarsely.

"I don't think you got to know this, but my semblance is kinda boosts others." His eye snapped open, with the sudden energy flowing through him. He looked at the blonde in confusion, but what he saw shook him to his core.

It was the blonde, with his ruffled hair, weird-looking jaw, and everything.

But his eyes glow purple and white, and they had a rectangular shape inside the pupil.

"W-what are you?" He only smiled.

"I'm Watcher."

Note: This is a small story. I got the idea from a rwby post about what if rwby was in our world, but one character remembered Remnant.

And I ended up with this small thing. I thought I could make an okay-sized one-shot, but it looks like this is the best I can for now, it's short, and I hope it got the message across.

The last bit was added by my friend, he even told me to update Watcher Curse with it too, and not say anything. I decided it was best to be one-shot, and if you like it, it's already canon to the story.

Anyway enjoy/
