Oneshot 3 title: Phone call confessions

Oneshot 3 summary: 'It's raining on the morning she finally works up the courage to pick up the phone and call him.'

POV: Third person.

Chapter count: 1

It's raining on the morning she finally works up the courage to pick up the phone and call him. She should have called the day he was released from hospital but she didn't want to cause him anymore stress so she left him alone with his sisters and mother who had flown in from Baltimore to take care of him. She had stayed the entire time he was in the coma and left the day after he woke up. He only thought she had been there the day he woke up, but he should've known better. He should have known that she would've stayed with him until she was ordered away.

She puts her coffee cup down on the table in front of her and grabs her cellphone, pressing the first number on her speed dial. The dial rings in her ear three times before she hears his voice.

"Alicia, are you okay?" He asks. It brings a smile to her face: even though he's recovering from three gunshot wounds and his hatred and betrayal of her, the first thing he asks is whether or not she's okay.

Yeah I'm fine, I was just calling to check in on you." She tells him, she hears him sigh.

"Leesh, I'm fine. Look I appreciate you calling but why are you calling me now and not when I first got shot? It would have meant more to me then, when I needed you the most instead of six months ago. Where were you then? Where were you when I was bleeding out, afraid I was going to die? Where were you when I woke up from my coma? Where were you when I was asking for you? Oh that's right, you weren't there!" He asks as his voice ends in a shout, she tries to quell the tears that are rising in her eyes as she hears his anger.

"I was there!" She snaps, ignoring Will's scoff. "I was there from the time Kalinda called me to say you were shot until the day after you woke up, I stayed with you every night, I held your hand the entire time, Diane had to force me to leave your side to get something to eat and change my clothes. I was there when you crashed during the night, I was there when they revived you, I was terrified that you'd die in front of me, and yet I still stayed. The day you woke up, you were so hopped up on painkillers that you didn't know I was there! So don't you dare tell me that I wasn't there, because I was there for you. I was there everyday and every night. I was there for you, William Paul Gardner, and I'll always be there for you even if you don't want me to be, even if you hate me, I'll be there for you, day or night because I love you, and I'll love you forever. It was you I should've chosen you at Georgetown, not Peter and I don't care if we would've lasted a week because we would've found our way back to each other like we always do!" Her 'speech' is met with silence then applause from Will's end of the line, she frowns.

"Will, where are you?" She asks hesitantly, Will chuckles.

"Lockhart/Gardner, we were in a meeting when you called. Everyone heard because I have my phone on the intercom thing." He answers.

"Shit!" She swears before she quickly hangs up, throwing her phone down and burying her head in her hands: she should've known that even a near death experience couldn't keep him from the office.

"Go to him, Mom." A voice says, her head pops up from her hands and she looks over shoulder and sees her children standing in the doorway, smirking.

"Guys, I didn't mean to say that." Alicia says, standing up. Grace rolls her eyes. "Mom, you and dad are over, you've been over for a long time. You've tried to make it work but couldn't. It's okay, we're okay. We just want you to be happy and if Will makes you happy, go to him. Before uncle Owen gets him." Grace says, Alicia smiles as she walks over to her two babies who aren't babies anymore, and hugs them to her, kissing their foreheads. "Okay." She says, pulling her rings off, Zach holds up his car keys. "Great, I'll drive." Is all her son says with a smile.

Alicia exits the elevator on the 28th floor, Zach and Grace at either side of her. She ignores the looks she receives as she walks into the conference room where all the partners are meeting, they all smile when she and the kids enter but she ignores them as her eyes zero in on Will who is standing.

As their eyes meet, she throws all caution to the wind and runs towards him, her arms going around his neck gently and kisses him deeply. He kisses her back. She kisses him so deep that he walks back into the table and lifts her into his arms, her legs hooking around his hips.

Cheers and claps surround them but they ignore it until a piercing whistle cuts through them. They pull away and look at who whistled. It was Zach. Grace looks like she's about to explode with happiness.

"Okay, okay, Mom, we're thrilled you're happy, but please keep the kissing to a PG thirteen, my little sister doesn't need to see you and Will like that." Her son says with a smile.

"Hey! I'm not little!" Grace protests. Zach snorts. "A: you'll always be my little sister even when you graduate college, and B: I know you still sleep with your Piglet teddy!" Grace gasps and narrows her eyes. "How do you know that?!" She asks her brother who rolls his eyes. "I check up on you before I go to bed, and I take pictures." Grace lets out a horrified squeak. Zach pulls out his phone to show her.

"I'm going to kill you!" Zach runs out of the conference room, Grace on his tail. "You better run, Zach. I'm going to tell Nisa about Squirrel!" Alicia is placed on the floor, and Will wraps an arm around her waist. She laughs as she leans into Will's side.

"I love you too, Alicia." Will whispers just as they hear a "MOMMY" being screamed by Grace. She laughs and leaves the conference room, with Will by her side.
