AN: Hello, my beautiful readers. Happy October and Happy Halloween. Well, it isn't technically Halloween yet, at least during the time I am publishing this. Oh well. Go figure.
Now, this story is very special. I mean, you probably got that, considering it's labeled as a special episode. However, it is also based on a request from a fan of mine: Souldatafmab. They sent me an idea that I really like. So, this one is for them. Thank you :)
Anyway, on with the show for like...what, the 66th time? Lol
Chapter 1 Spooky
Lemmy ran down the hall, his stubby legs forgetting that they were stubby in the first place and allowing him to speed past everything. The smile he wore was bigger than the smiles he usually wore, which in all honesty, was a feat that no one had ever thought Lemmy would accomplish. Lemmy didn't even care about how this might look to outsiders, for he was excited. And when someone like Lemmy is excited, the rest of the world falls away as his emotions take full control over him.
There was a reason he was excited, of course. He also had a destination in mind; the front door to the castle. As he ran, he leapt, doing triple jumps and spins. Anything that would make his journey to the front door go faster. Anything that would allow others to see that he was bursting with positive emotions.
Speaking of others, they cleared the way for him. The Koopa troopa servants who he passed gave him smiles, not fully understanding his positive mood but still fully appreciating it. Lemmy's bounces became all the more joyful when he saw the smiling faces of the help.
"It came, everyone! It finally came!"
"What came?" asked a Koopa troopa servant.
"Only the best thing ever! Woohoo!"
Lemmy dashed toward the entrance. He passed through the throne room as he did so, where Bowser was busy getting a foot massage from Kamek. The Koopa King let out a series of happy moans and content groans while the magikoopa advisor kept a clothes pin securely fastened to his snout. The disgust on Kamek's face was palpable, almost tangible.
Nevertheless, Lemmy bounded over to him. "Today's the day, guys! Today is finally the day!"
Bowser lifted his head and clapped. "Yeah! Today is the day!" He paused. "What day are we talking about exactly?"
Lemmy giggled like a gremlin. "My costume! My Halloween costume is finally here!"
Kamek smiled. "Ah. That is great, Lemmy. I can see that it is making you bounce off the walls more than usual."
Lemmy giggled and did a twirl. "I am just so excited! I spent so much money on that costume! I wanted it to be the best, most impressive piece of fabric that I had ever worn!"
Bowser smiled. "I can imagine. This is the Bat Koopa costume, correct?"
Lemmy nodded. "Yep! It comes with a black, fringed cape, a bat cowl, a utility belt; it comes with absolutely everything!" Lemmy jumped in place. "I chose this particular version because it is the type that professional cosplayers wear!"
"Ooh!" said Bowser.
Kamek, however, wasn't as impressed. He raised an eyebrow. "That sounds like it was expensive."
"Oh, it was! I'll be broke for the next month and a half! But it was worth it!"
Bowser chuckled and patted Lemmy on the head. "I'm sure it is, Lems! You and your enthusiasm about Halloween are worth any amount of money that you can waste on costumes!"
Lemmy blinked. "Waste?" He chuckled. "It's not wasting; it's getting my money's worth." He did another twirl. "This year, I'm going to be the best Bat Koopa this side of Sarasaland!"
With that, he bounced away. As he bounded down the halls, he thought about how awesome he would look in a Bat Koopa costume. Bat Koopa, everyone's favorite, gravelly voiced superhero. With his Koopa Mobile, tragic backstory (his parents...forgot to pay off the IRS that one time! Ooh!), and incredible costume, he was the type of hero that everyone wanted to be like. Sure, being Bat Koopa would come with a lot of baggage, but people were often willing to overlook that in their fantasies for some odd reason.
"I am the night, I am the thing that will haunt your nightmares. I...am...BAT KOOPA!" Lemmy said with his best gravelly voice. He giggled. "Man, I really got that voice down pat."
He bounded toward the entrance. When he finally got there, he parked himself in front of the door and tapped his foot at an enviable pace. He was vibrating...LITERALLY vibrating as he waited for the moment, that one moment he had waited for for the past month or so. His heart was vibrating too; it made those on a sugar rush look like they were sleeping, it made hummingbird and mouse heartbeats look normal. He giggled and bounced around just as Ludwig passed by the entrance with his snout in a book. Lemmy smiled at his brother and wrapped him in a hug before he was even fully cogniscent of what was going on.
"LUDWIG!" Lemmy yelled. "I am so happy!"
Ludwig's face turned pale as he tried to suck in a breath. "Crushing… lungs!"
"Oh!" Lemmy let him go. "Sorry about that." He giggled. "I'm just...MMMM! I'm so happy right now! I can barely contain myself!"
"So I see." Ludwig smiled. "Is this because your costume is arriving today?"
"You bet your sweet barbecued Koopa tidbits it is!"
Ludwig raised an eyebrow. "My sweet barbecued Koopa tidbits?" He snickered. "That's a new one."
"Well, yeah! I have to come up with new sayings every once in a while. Otherwise, our conversations would get stale."
"True." Ludwig chuckled. "For what it's worth, you can be really clever when you need to be."
Lemmy beamed as a Koopa troopa servant passed by. "Not as clever as you, you quick witted scamp!"
The Koopa troopa servant gagged. "Get a room, you too."
"Hey!" Lemmy called out. "He's my brother; don't go dissing my brother!" He turned back to Ludwig as the servant marched away. "You excited for Halloween?"
"You know it!" Ludwig sighed. "Horror stories, the various flavors of candy, the costumes, the music…" Ludwig sighed. "It's all very nostalgic for me on some level."
"Yeah! It is! I love it Ludwig! Love it, love it, love it, love it, love it!" Lemmy did a little dance. "It may be three days away, but I am just so amped up about it!"
Knock knock knock!
Lemmy's heart skipped a beat as he gasped. "It's here!" He jumped up and down for the umpteenth time. "It's here, it's here, it's finally here!"
Ludwig chuckled and opened the door. A paratroopa, flittering a few feet off the ground, could be seen on the other side. Best of all was the fact that they had a package with them.
"I have a package for Mr. Lemonade Koopa?"
"Yes! That's me!" Lemmy took the package and hugged the paratroopa. "Thank you so much!"
The paratroopa wheezed just as Lemmy let them out of the hug. "Man," he muttered. "You would think I delivered a package to a bear based on that hug."
With that, the door closed. Lemmy did a happy dance and set his costume box down on the floor. "Let's open it together, Ludwig!"
Ludwig nodded. "Sounds good!" He and Lemmy sat down. Lemmy got a pair of scissors out of his hammerspace and cut right into the box.
Unfortunately, when he and Ludwig saw what was inside, they were met with massive disappointment.
