She had a lot to think about.

'What was that... and who was that man...' Miko drew a spiral on her palm as she laid on the couch in her family home. She was memorizing the spiral that the man drew on her hand with everything in her heart. The man had killed the spirit that had almost attacked her, and if he said this magic spell could help her, then he couldn't be lying. She did not want to mess up the magic and have it fail on her.

Naruto was big.

He was even taller than her favorite pro wrestler, and though he wasn't as muscular, he just seemed so much stronger as a man to her. He had a prettier face, but it was almost animalistic with those whisker marks he had. He almost looked like he can from Europe or America with his appearance, but his Japanese had been much too fluent for that to be the case.

"I'm going to bed."

"Okaaaaay~" Miko heard her brother calling out to her. Her brother and her mother didn't see the same things that she saw. Her mother yelled at her for breaking her phone's screen, but the phone itself still worked so she wasn't allowed to get a new one until it stopped working. She slid her finger across her cracked phone.

Uzumaki Naruto

She was curious, so she typed in the man's name to see if she could get any results on the internet. She found a few articles about him. She scrolled through them without really clicking on any of them right away.

Man saves child from burning store.
Child detective solves murder case.
Kid finds stolen art.

"Huh?" Miko clicked on the article, and she read more into it. 'The article is from 7 years ago, and he was 12 then... so he's 19... he's not much older than me!' Miko was a little shocked to learn the huge man who saved her was so close to her own age. She would have expected him to be in his earlier 20s, not 19 and just a mere 3 years older than herself. She read through the entire article about him.

Then she backed out and selected a different article.

She backed out again and picked the next article, and soon enough she read through half of the articles on the first page of the google results. It would seem that the man was something of a traveling legend, helping people wherever he went, and then just disappearing, only to reappear and help somebody else.

"Miko, take a shower and go to bed!"

"Okay~ Mom~" Miko sang out as she got up and walked towards the shower room. She stripped out of her clothes when she got to the changing room. She passed the mirror, and she sighed in annoyance when she saw a handprint on the mirror. "... You little brat, stop leaving your handprint on the mirror." Miko grabbed her worn shirt and used it to get her brother's handprint off of the mirror.

Then it was there.

A monster in a suit, with a neck 20 times the length of a normal neck, staring at her in the mirror. She felt a strong urge to cover her naked body, but froze in place.

"Can you see?"

'What do I do, what do I do... I can totally still see it!?' Miko panicked inside. She wanted to cover up, but that would make it obvious to the spirit that she could see it. She froze in place as she thought about her options. The tears gathered at the edges of her eyes, and she looked into the blackened dead eyes of the monster behind her. It didn't know she looked into it's eyes, but it opened it's mouth.

It's breath was horrible.

She drew a spiral on her palm, and she closed her eyes.

She ate the spiral.

"Hey, leave the lady alone."

*Snap*

Miko's eyes snapped open when she looked in the mirror, and she didn't see the monster behind her. She saw Naruto with his hand where the monster had been, and the same golden mist as before. Naruto wasn't looking directly at her, instead he crouched down and picked up her towel that she dropped. He wrapped it around her naked body without looking at her very much.

"Ho-how... where did...?"

"You summoned me to you, didn't you eat the spiral?" Naruto asked her with a raised eyebrow. He looked down at her, and she gripped her towel tighter. She made sure it covered her entire body, and he rubbed the back of his head. "You summoned me in the bathroom?" Naruto looked around.

Her mind was going a mile a minute.

She summoned him.

"You... how did you just appear here... actually... get out!" Miko realized this was not the place to question him. She pushed him out of the bathroom.

-15 Minutes Later-

"Took you long enough."

"You're actually still here... I didn't just imagine..." Miko had hoped a shower would cool her head, but she found Naruto sitting on her bed in her room. She looked out her bedroom door, and heard her mother watching TV in the living room. She realized that for Naruto to leave, he would have to walk through the living room and be seen by her mother. "EEEP!" Miko yelped.

Naruto was holding a spirit baby, an ugly little thing that appeared to be less than 6 months old in size.

"Caught this thing under your bed." Naruto had his hand wrapped around the throat of the demon baby, tight enough it couldn't escape or speak. He glanced over Miko, and saw she was wearing clothes, green pajamas, and nodded his head. He stood up and gripped the baby, and it poofed into a golden dust that fell to the ground, before disappearing like it never even existed.

"I summoned you, does... does that make me magical?" Miko rushed to Naruto and questioned him.

He smiled.

"No, you summoned me because I'm magical... you're just a normal girl Miko. The only reason that spell worked, is because you learned it from me. Feel free to summon me whenever you want, I'm always happy to help." Naruto started to walk out of her room. He said what he wanted to say to her. He stayed long enough to give her the knowledge that she wasn't magical, so she shouldn't get cocky about being able to fight the spirits herself.

She grabbed his wrist.

"Wait... wait... my Mom will see you if you leave that way... can you go out the window instead?" Miko asked, and he just looked at the window. Miko let go of him and grabbed the sides of her head. "... Actually, no wait... what even are those spirit things... and what happens if they realize I can see them... and why is my Dad's spirit here!?" Miko asked Naruto question after question.

Naruto raised an eyebrow.

"Calm down."

"I am calm!"

"Calm down." Naruto repeated with a MUCH more firm tone. Miko froze in place as the desperation left her, and she did feel much calmer than before. Naruto sat back down on the side of her bed. He pat the bed next to him, and she hesitated before sitting down. "... okay... now what do you want me to answer first?" Naruto asked.

She thought about it.

"... My Dad's spirit is in the house... is it really my Dad?" Miko asked.

"Yeah, it's him. He's a peaceful spirit, so I didn't do anything about him. You can talk to him, it's safe... I've been walking around the house and moving on some of the spirits around here." Naruto explained to her. Tears gathered at the edges of her eyes and she nodded her head. "If you ever see a spirit that isn't your Dad in your house, summon me and I'll take care of it." Naruto told her.

"I summoned you... how can I summon you?"

"You believed the spell I taught you would work, so it worked. Your faith summoned me." Naruto explained to her.

"How?" Miko asked as her voice started to raise again. Naruto rubbed his chin in deep thought, and she watched him with stern eyes. She wanted an answer, because even if he was special, humans just didn't teleport. She was patient though, his stern voice telling her to calm down earlier still working.

"Well... consider it like this... There are Humans, there are Humans who can See, there are Psychics... Humans with spirit power who can see. That is the human side." Naruto explained. She narrowed her eyes as she thought about his words. "... and on the spirit side... there are Spirits, Peaceful Spirits, Protector Spirits, Malevolent Spirits, Old gods, Yokai, and Spirits worshiped as gods." Naruto continued.

"What are you... I'm so sorry, that was rude!" Miko covered her mouth.

The question was so rude.

"Half-Human, Half-Yokai... my Father was a Yokai worshiped as a god, and my Mother was a Human Priestess... a very powerful psychic who could touch spirits. Thus, I was born... I have all the powers of both sides of the coin." Naruto took out a 500 yen coin and flipped it around. It wasn't like she wouldn't believe him after seeing what he had done.

"Yokai are real?" Miko was stunned.

"Some are, some are just made up human stories. That summoning charm I gave you, it only summons me as long as you believe the charm will save you. I guess I must have left a pretty strong impression on you." Naruto playfully teased Miko to lighten the mood. She looked down at her own lap and gripped her pants, nodding her head in agreement. "I'm always happy to help... well... I say that, but it isn't like I'm above accepting a tribute now and again." Naruto winked at her.

She became defensive.

"Tribute... a sacrifice... ow."

He flicked her forehead.

"Nothing that serious... here..." Naruto took a piece of candy she had next to her bed, and a plate she had sitting on her desk. Naruto opened her window and placed the plate on the edge, and he placed the piece of candy on it. "... clap your hands together and just thank me for helping you. Do that every once and awhile, and you won't need to feel like you owe me anything." Naruto promised her.

If she summoned him a lot, he knew that she would start to feel like she owed him some great thanks. He didn't want her to feel like she owed him anything reall important.

"Can I learn to do what you do?" Miko asked as she got up and looked at the piece of candy on the plate.

She wanted to lessen his burden, he already helped her twice.

"Nope, you're just a normal girl... you might be able to see them, but you should never get it in your head that you can fight them." Naruto looked around the room, and he saw his jacket was laying on the floor. He picked it up and handed it to Miko. "... Keep it with you. It has my feel on it, so lesser spirits should try and avoid you when you wear it." Naruto gave it to her to keep, and not just to wear home to stop the rain like before.

She clutched it to her chest as soon as he gave it to her.

He started to leave through the window.

She grabbed his arm.

"Please, don't go yet... please stay..."

Naruto stopped, before he smiled.

"If you ever feel scared, you can summon me. If a spirit ever shows up, you can summon me. If you ever need me, I'll be there." Naruto reached out and covered her eyes with his hand.

He was gone.

He vanished as if he had never been there, leaving only his jacket in her arms that she clutched onto. His words rang through her mind, and she smiled. As she went to her bed and laid down, she didn't feel as afraid. His words made her feel comfortable sleeping by herself.

The candy on the plate was gone when she woke up the next morning when she woke up.

Miko felt ready to tackle a new day.

-With Naruto-

"Yuck... way too sugary. Hopefully next time she will lay out some cup ramen." Naruto chewed on the piece of candy as he sat on the roof of Miko's house. He heard the sounds of her getting ready for school and smiled. He had granted her good dreams by being on the roof of her house all night, and not just her.

Everyone in the house below him had been blessed with wonderful dreams.

She did ask him to stay after all.
