Harry's Secret Helper:

Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter nor Monster's Inc. They each belong to JK Rowling and Pixar respectively. Author's note: I have not written fanfiction in a very long time, so please be very patient as I try to get back on my feet. I have been watching Pixar's Monster's Inc. a lot, and I wanted to try my hand at a crossover between that and Harry Potter as Harry Potter is my favorite series to read. I may be a little rusty, so please feel free to let me know if you can help in any way. Thanks, and enjoy this story.

Chapter 1:

The Early Years:

In 1981, a rather kindly but absent-minded old man by the name of Albus Dumbledore made a grave mistake. Although it was true that Vernon and Petunia Dursley were Harry Potter's only living relatives on his mother's side, they would not love him nor care for him. But despite this, Albus decided to leave young Harry at his aunt's house anyway. Fully believing in the blood protection, Albus was unaware of just how vile these people really were. He was also unaware that by placing the toddler at number 4 Privet Dr., that he was powering a city that relied on the screams and laughter of human children for their own electricity.

The monster city was of course unknown to Albus as he was much too old and wise to believe in monsters that came out of a child's closet at night. I suppose he had at one time, but that was of course a very long time ago; some 400 years ago, in fact. By placing the young child with his relatives, Albus Dumbledore had unknowingly created a brand-new door on the scare/laughter floor in the big monster city on the other side of each closet. Nor did he know that this door was going to be tiny and the brightest one of all because of the true need that young Harry would have. It took a few days for the door to appear, but when it did, the 2 lead monsters, James Sullivan and Mike Wazousky were not only concerned that the power would go out from the overload of electricity, but that the power light from this door was so bright that it was hard for them to look at it without sunglasses. However, being the leaders now since Randall had been banished for good and Water News was in jail, both James and Mike knew that at least one of them needed to investigate the door. Yes, it was their job to scare people or make them laugh, but it was also their job to sometimes help children who were in true need, which it looked like was the case judging by how bright the power light was.

The energy that was filling up the canister was also, neither scream nor laughter. It was a dull, pinkish color, which meant only one thing, and it was not good. James and Mike looked at each other in horror. "Sullivan, I have to go in there!" Mike said sadly. "This is a time when a human child neither needs to be scared nor to make laugh. This poor child is making energy for us because he is being abused by the people who are supposed to be taking care of him! You will not fit in the door, so I must go, I will see you back here in a little while." And then without another word, Mike disappeared through the bright door to find himself in a small cupboard that smelled strongly of urine and blood. Mike had to keep himself from growling angrily under his breath because he knew this was not the time to scare a child, a child who desperately needed help. From the look of the child, Mike could see that he was around Boo's age, but that he had none of her playfulness for 2 reasons. One reason was that the baby boy was weak from starvation and the other was because he was badly hurt from what looked like whippings from a belt. Mike also realized that his canister was turning pink from the tears that were leaking from the toddler's eyes along with the blood covering his body.

Mike's own single eye welled with tears at the obvious pain Harry was in. He loved his job, but sometimes it was extremely difficult, especially in times like these, when a child such as this one was in such bad shape. Yes, Mike knew that human children were not toxic as he previously believed, but rather it was the situations that were that way. So, for now, knowing he could only do the bare minimum at this point, Mike gently touched the toddler's cheek to wipe away the tears, and with a whispered, "I'll be back soon," the little monster went back through the door to talk to his colleague about what he could do to help. In the meantime, Mike knew he had paperwork to file, and this time it was going to be a child abuse report. No, it was not a monster child, but even in the monster world, they did not condone child abuse, no matter if it was monster or human.
