Chapter 1: A Simple Routine

The world wasn't fair, Denki knew this. It was filled with the harsh judgement of people who tried to decipher things they didn't understand. Denki knew that too. These were his first thoughts when Denki had opened his eyes to the bleeding light of the sun. He sighed as the solar beams slapped him in the face.

'Probably seven or eight.' He thinks. Good thing it was the summer before his entrance exam into U.A. After a moment Denki flips over onto his stomach and onto the floor. He began performing record pacing push-ups. He felt the strain was a good warm-up before he went on an hour or so run around the city. His stamina is important to him.

'I have practice at the Dojo today as well.' Denki thinks as he finishes one-hundred push-ups. He figured he could do more, but he still needs to run. The push-ups just now were warming him up and letting his heart beat just a little faster. Denki then stretches his arms and back before deciding to stand and exit his room. He sees his parents in the kitchen, his little brother and sister haven't woken up yet.

"Morning mom, morning dad." Denki says and his parents both smile at him. His mother was beatific. Her black eyes were shiny and her blonde hair was straightened down perfectly. While his dad's hair was perfectly trimmed, giving an old school classic look to his black hair and golden eyes.

"Morning sweetie/champ." Denki heads to the door and both his parents frown when his back turns.

"You running right now? Breakfast is almost finished." His mom says and Denki nods while he puts on his black and white running shoes.

"Yes. I'm fasting when I exercise." Denki explains and his parents look at each other before turning back to him.

"Okay, just be careful out there son." His dad says and Denki nods. The teen pulls out his earbuds and phone, making a gesture to showcase them in his hands.

"If I need you, I'll call." Denki states and before his parents could answer he is out of the door. His parents sigh once he has left.

"I'm really worried about him Denji.. he hasn't been the same since.." His mother trails off and Denki's dad Denji embraces her. The mom clutches her husband tightly, feeling a pain inside of her chest for her son.

"I know Yura.. I know.." They stay like that for a while, only letting go so they could finish cooking their children's breakfast.

On the run with Denki he felt it was simple enough, despite the memories that passed him by while he did so. Running was one of the ways he cleared his mind, using it as a form of meditation. Even if it was strenuous.

He ran his usual route for an hour, then he ran back home for another. However, it was on his way home that something out of the ordinary came to him. He was passing by a cross walk when a group of guys spotted him.

They seemed like normal people, no visible quirk mutations or anything. Albeit that was where Denki was wrong, especially when they spotted him.

"Hey kid, you look familiar. What's your name?" Someone that was most likely double his age asked. A healthy skin-toned hairy man walked up to Denki who had to take his earbuds out to hear him.

"Sorry, what did you say?" Denki asked as he paused, regaining some breath. He was an hour and a half into his run to be fair, and he was becoming quickly tired. The same man then stepped closer, a glare in his face.

"What's. Your. Name?" He asks and Denki frowns.

"Denki." Denki answers as the man's two friends circled around him.

"Do you know of a guy named Kenji?" As soon as the man asked him that Denki widened his eyes and his breath quickened. His heart started beating faster and it was becoming hard to breathe. Denki looked at his hands and they were shaking.

"So you do know him. Well we're his friends and we really don't like what you did." And like a bucket of ice cold water Denki was brought back to the brink. He looks up and around at the men feeling a defiant glare in his eyes.

"You mean knew him right? Because if you know what happened to him, then you should be speaking in the past tense." Denki states and immediately the men around him huffed. The man in front of Denki though, looked outright furious.

"YOU BASTARD KID!" Denki was able to dodge the first punch that was sent his way, but the man to the right side capitalized and landed a clean one to his cheek. Denki stumbled while grabbing the man's outstretched arm and flipping him over. The man landed on the concrete as he dodged another punch sent his way from his left. Denki then had to quickly duck another hook from behind him.

Denki turned to the two men and he frowned. The third guy was still getting up off the ground. Denki figured he should take his chance with the henchmen. Denki dashed and flew in with a high kick. Albeit the leader dodged out of the way of Denki's flying kick while his lackey tried to counter attack. Denki saw through this and ducked under the punch and delivered a solid right uppercut to the man's chin.

Another henchmen to the ground. Denki watched for a moment to make sure the man was floored right before turning around and basically eating a solid left hook to his face.

'That wasn't a normal punch.' Denki thought as he flew a few feet backwards onto the road. Denki tried to breathe through his nose but found it difficult to do so.

'Nose is displaced.' He huffed and stood up onto his feet. He fixed his nose by repositioning it before he spat out blood onto the street. He looked to the leader of the group and frowned at the shiny copper skin.

'A hardening quirk. Great.' Denki shook his head before looking at the three of them. The two men were clearly injured, but the leader might has well have been fresh. This wasn't going to be easy.

"You've got balls kid. But we're going to fuck you up." The leader said and Denki smirked.

"Then what are you waiting for? Get a taste of what Kenji got." Denki then made a come hither motion with his hand and the three men dashed toward him in a rage.

'I need to be more offensive.' Denki dodged a right hook from goon number one on his left before delivering his own haymaker to the back of his head. That guy was knocked out. However as he did that he was tackled by the second goon and soon they were rolling on the ground. Denki somehow managed to get on top of the man before punching his face with his right fist.

'Two down, one to go.' Denki sighs as the knocked out man underneath blacked out from the blow.

'This all would happen when I'm nearly gassed out from my run.' Denki thinks and looks to see the leader in front of him. Attempting to glare holes into Denki's form.

"You little piece of shit!" The man sprints towards Denki who barely manages to stand from his straddled position.

'The leader's been keeping his copper transformation active ever since he punched me. He has to be tiring from it. Even though I just ran three quarters of my route, I know this is going to be a battle of attrition. Body, don't give up on me now!' Denki meets the leader half way and they both trade punches to each other's jaws.

Denki was at a clear disadvantage but his spirit was unwavering. The leader stumbled back in shock, that punch actually hurt!

"C'mere you little shit!" The leader shakes his head before trying to grab Denki. He manages to put his hands on his shoulders but ends up with Denki's knee in between his testicles for the action. The copper man widened his eyes before instinctively grabbing his balls.

"FUCK!" Denki figured it was more of a mental thing as the man screamed and hopped around. The hit shouldn't have hurt that much but Denki knew that being a guy had its own setbacks too. Denki took this opportunity to deck the leader's nose the moment before the man could recover from the blow. Denki is satisfied when he wins, taking some time to breathe. He looks around the area and sighs. Two men were knocked out on the road while the leader was unconscious on the sidewalk.

Denki dragged all of the grown men to the sidewalk and piled them on top of each other. Heavy assholes. Denki feels the adrenaline wearing off and his body hurts. Especially is face. No scratch that, especially his face.

'Damn.. assholes caught me off guard too many times..' Denki wanted to believe that if he hadn't been running for so long then those guys wouldn't have touched him. He shook his head, it was just wishful thinking.

He pulled out his phone, feeling his vision blur. He clicks on his parents' contact name, hearing a familiar ring tone.

"Denki! Are you okay?" His mom asks in a panic and Denki coughs. His vision is darkening, he feels, tired.

"Mom, dad.. my.. location.." Before he could continue his vision fades in a darkness he knew well.

"Denki! DENKI! DEN-"

At least he got to sleep a little, right?

He opened his eyes to the brightest and whitest lights he had ever seen.

'Hospital, no good.' Denki groans as he sits up, his body felt more stiff than sore.

'That's good at least, now where..' Denki frowns as he sees his family all huddled up in chairs and the spare bed in the room. He didn't know much about visiting hours but it was well into the nighttime. Definitely basing this theory off of the stars and purple-black sky outside. His brother and sister seemed to be sleeping, his mom was too. Although Denki saw his dad smiling at him.

"Hello son. How are you feeling?" He whispers and Denki stretches a little.

"A little sore, mostly stiff." He starts to get out of bed,

"Maybe if I move a little-"

"I wouldn't do that son. Stay in bed, rest a little." Denki's frown deepens but he stops and lays back.

"Yes sir." Denki says and his dad smiles at him.

"We were really worried you know. You were out for a couple of days." His father informs, a little too casually to Denki's suspicion.

"..I'm sorry." There's not much else Denki could say to his father, it was nerve wracking being caught up in so much action. His father shakes his head, his black hair swaying a little.

"Don't be sorry. It wasn't your fault that those men attacked you." His dad says and Denki glares into his hands.

"But it was-"

"No. It wasn't and that's final." Denki shuts his mouth at his dad's insistence. Denki looks at his hands, remembering the feeling of conflict from before. He then touches his face, not feeling any swelling or well anything.

"My face.. I thought I would have a bruise at least." But his face felt perfect. His dad smiled at that his golden eyes looking at something Denki couldn't see.

"Yeah, they healed you up pretty good. They couldn't do anything to the tears in your muscles though. Especially if you're clocking a guy using a bronze hardening quirk." His dad rambled on in amusement and Denki nodded at that.

"Makes sense. Thank you dad." Denki says and his dad waves him off.

"You're my oldest son, you don't have to worry about silly things like me taking care of you." His dad smiles and Denki smiles back. As soon as the words are said his mom wakes up, and then his siblings too.

"Denki!" His mom, little brother and sister run up to glomp him.

"Oh my god I was so worried!"

"Big brother!"

His mom and his siblings keep hugging him while Denki looks on at his dad. His dad simply just keeps his smile.

It was a few more days before Denki was admitted out of the hospital. Denki had never felt so hungry after waking up before, and now he'll never forget the feeling.

'My family was so worried. I'll make sure to never let them feel that way ever again.' It was a vow for strength, something Denki desperately needed. He had a few ideas on how he would be able to improve his quirk.

But right now he couldn't practice those ideas without official input. He shook his head, right now he was at home cooking dinner for his family. Tonight's dinner if it went according to Denki's plan.. was going to be Oyakodon with dessert being matcha swiss rolls. Denki couldn't say he was a chef by any means but, he was guy who liked taste. And matcha swiss rolls were surprisingly sweet with a hint of the matcha.

He was cooking when both his mom and dad arrived at the same time. Weird, they usually arrive either an hour or so later. He wasn't quite done yet.

"Denki, sweetie we have amazing news!" His mother had a grin that he hadn't seen in a while. Her blonde hair swished as she literally shook with excitement.

"Your mother and I have been promoted!" His dad said and Denki widened his eyes, smiling more than he ever has before.

"Wow! That's amazing! Congrats!" Denki said and both his mother and his father held mirroring grins.

"Your dad became Managing Director and I'm the Executive Director!" His mom yells excitedly and Denki's face couldn't force a more proud expression.

"That's so awesome you guys, wow.." Denki says with awe as he returns to cooking his family dinner.

"Which means we need to have a talk with you and your siblings Denki." All of a sudden his father became serious, like his tone took the wind out of the happy sails of the atmosphere.

"What's going on?" Denki asks worriedly and his father shakes his head.

"Call Denyari and Dentaro." Denki nods feeling anxious about his father's tone.

"Yes sir." Denki instantly speeds off to his siblings' room.

"How do you think they'll take it?" Denki's father asks.

"I don't know Denji.. it's a big move."

"That's why we need each other Yura. We need to find strength in our family." Denji puts his arm around his wife and Yura basks in him.

"Yes.. yes we do."

This one change, will impact their children's lives forever.

Two Weeks Later

Denki's life couldn't more different. He woke up and when he went outside there was no need to worry, no need to overthink, no need to hide away from himself.

Because his parents move him and his siblings to another side of Japan.

Flashback:

"We're moving to another neighborhood." His father states and the children besides Denki yell out in shock.

"B-but why!? All of my friends are here!" His little brother Dentaro outrages.

"Yeah! I won't see Melissa or Maryu every again!" And Denyari follows. Denki frowns before pinching both of their ears.

"OW OW OW NIIISAAAN/BIG BROTHEEEERRR" The twins yell out and Denki shakes his head.

"Let's wait for what mom and dad says. Let them explain." Denki says and his little brother and sister pouts. Denji looks to Denki gratefully while Yura smiles fondly.

"The whole family is moving to a neighborhood that's very nice. With more things to do nearby, more parks, arcades, stores, and nice neighbors." Yura explains and the children were immediately sold on it. But Denki was a little skeptical.

"And the crime rate is lowest in the city. That's what we like about it most of all." Denji says and his wife follows up enthusiastically.

"Oh! And we don't have to ride a train to get to work! We can walk there if we wanted!" Yura says with a shine in her eyes. However her joy was interrupted as Denki raised his hand like he was in class.

"Yes son?" Denji asks and Denki frowns.

"Does all of this have anything to do with what happened to me?" Denki asks and both of his parents mirror his frown.

"Listen son-" Denji was interrupted,

"NO! Ahem.. no, no sugarcoating. Tell me, does my.. activities have anything to do with this?" His parents looked at each other, unsure if they should answer or not.

"Look Denki it's not-"

"You know why those guys attacked me right? They were friends of HIM of THAT GUY. And they wanted payback for-"

"It wasn't your fault! It was just, when your quirk manifested-"

"NO! Face the facts! They wanted to hurt me because of their friend! And that's why we have to move.. even if that guy's friends are apprehended that doesn't mean there isn't more people.." Denki trails off while looking down and everyone stayed silent.

"It's okay if it's because of me. It's okay because I can handle the truth. Just believe in me." Denki looked to his parents who were starstruck by his declaration. His father nodded ominously.

"Okay Denki. What happened to you some days ago does have something to do with why we're moving." Denji states and Denki smiles.

"Thank you for being honest. You don't know it, but that's exactly what I need right now." Denki keeps his smile, but turns to walk outside the door.

"Denki-" Yura means to go after him but Denji grabs her arm.

"Let him go honey." By this time Denki is already outside.

"Sometimes a man needs to be alone." Denji says to her and she feels tears coming out of her eyes. She hugs her husband with all of the strength she could muster.

Meanwhile what they don't know, is that Denki is outside doing the exact same thing with himself. Tears stream down his eyes, a silent shedding for the teen that's been strong for too long.

Present:

Denki looks across the street, there was a multi-million dollar mansion right across from their two-story house. Denki knew this was a wealthier community but somehow being across from this place only exemplifies it even more.

Denki sighs, at some point his parents want to introduce themselves to the family, while also taking him and his twin siblings along too.

But right now they were running the business so they wouldn't be around until that night. Which also meant Denki can practice his quirk as long as he wants. With the way his new house was built, there was a practice/ exercise room on the outskirts of their house. Denki usually went through the front and around to their yard to do so. He would go through the back door but, he always had to take a look at the mansion. It was truly exquisite, even the gate and the road leading up to the mansion was crazy.

He entered the warehouse that was connected to the back door and Denki couldn't feel anymore at home than he does now.

'Let's get right to it.' Denki's form fills with electricity, the power consuming him and his body.

'Don't let any leak out, stay inside, stay inside, stay inside!' If Denki wasn't so focused then the innuendo of those words wouldn't have been lost to him. Denki began tp feel his legs overflow with electricity as his body does what he commands it.

'Perfect!' Denki uses this to dash across the warehouse in one second.

'Amazing! This is with only half of my power going into my legs!' Denki had to figure out ways to improve his quirk. When he emits it outside of his body it was uncontrollable like a monster that couldn't be chained.

'If that's only six-hundred-fifty-thousand volts.. then what would one-million-three-hundred-thousand do?' Denki shook his head. Half of his potency makes him feel tunnel vision like a bat with only one eye. And right now he was saving his most powerful moves for the end of training. If he did them now then he would lose an hour of productivity at least.

'Need to go again, less power this time.'

A few hours would ensue while Denki trained his quirk. Before losing his mental capabilities at the very end.

'I can control my quirk to use less volts, I don't need to shock one person with a million if a person gets knocked out by a mere one-hundred and fifty. My big moves are for area of effect. so I need to break through that limit and increase my voltage.' Denki's progress was astounding if he said so himself.

He can use half his power to leap high into the air, dash quicker than a bullet, and make his strikes more powerful. All that was causing him trouble was the amount of tunnel vision his quirk uses when he's moving a far distance.

'Why can't my mind catch up? What am I missing?' Denki ponders as he goes back inside. He trained for almost six hours with his quirk alone. He can take a break before he gets into a routine later.

'I need to make sure I'm good without using my quirk, there's a new dojo around here so I can practice my fighting capability. After all I can fuel my strikes with electricity, a lightning strike indeed..' Denki smiles as he checks in on his siblings, they were playing video games. A first person shooter it looks like.

"Hold it you two, let big brother Denki show you how it's done." He proceeded to show his skills while leaving the twins in awe, the rest of the night would pass by peacefully as well. Just the family all being together while they could

The next day Denki was going to see if he can get official advice on his quirk. There was only so much he can do alone. He knew the difference a second opinion could make shouldn't be underestimated.

So he was going to buy a reservation to a quirk gym. A quirk gym was really what it sounded like. People who were able to buy reservations/passes could go to the gym and train their quirk with Pro supervision without any consequences. However it was insanely expensive, so he was glad his parents were doing so well financially.

One day he would pay them back tenfold for the faith they put in him.

He shook his head of the thought, thinking of the future can hinder him if done in big doses. He'll do it one day, but that pressure will NOT weigh him down. He sighs as he looks to his siblings, then he smiles at them. They were just too adorable.

Dentaro was born with two halves of hair on his head. His left side had blonde and his left side had black. With his right eye being golden like their father's and his left being black like their mother's. His hair was also a trimmed short and spiky in the front.

Meanwhile Denyari was the exact opposite of Dentaro, despite their color scheme being similar. Denyari had her hair straightened out all the way down to her waist. Her right half being blonde and her left half being black. Her eyes were the opposite too, golden on the right, and black on the left. They both had the same skin tone as Denki himself, healthy with a tannish cream.

But what Denki found peculiar was that where they had their blonde hair was a symbol of black hair. Whereas Denki had a black lightning bolt on the side of his blonde head. Denyari had a black plus symbol on her blonde hair and Dentaro had a minus symbol on his blonde hair. Denki thought if they faced each other with Denyari on the left and Dentaro on the right, then they would perfectly represent positive and negative. Especially with their black hair marks.

'Two halves of the same whole. The Positive and Negative Heroes..' Denki's thoughts had him widening his eyes at how CLEVER that sounded. If those two didn't take that name up he would FORCE them to. He then shook his head, before chuckling as the twins bickered among themselves.

"Hey, you two behaving?" He asks and they nodded with matching smiles.

"Yes big brother! This is going to be fun!" Denyari exclaims, a bright enthusiasm coming forth with her words.

"Yeah! I can't wait!" Dentaro pumps up a fist and Denki smiles before ruffling their heads. The twins pout but let him affectionately do so.

It didn't take long for the trio to arrive. When they did the three all felt their jaws drop to the core of the Earth. Their surprise was that great.

If Denki was to describe it, it was like a huge silver dome with a bunch of windows underneath it. A gigantic neon sign was plastered on the front of the dome. The size of the sign was easily as big as the mansion Denki sees everyday.

"Quirks n' the Works." Denki reads and he looks to his siblings. They shrug at him and Denki smiles.

"You two ready?"

"Yes sir!/ Uh huh!" Denyari and Dentaro say simultaneously. They soon enter the entrance of the building, which was a pair of mountain-sized sliding doors.

'This door can fit Mt. Lady if she transformed..' It was THAT big. The trio stop by one of the ten desks that checked people in. It was a lady with cougar mutation quirk. She wore a pair of vintage glasses. The lady looked up at them and held a kind smile.

"Hello welcome to Quirks n' the Works. I am Mayuri, how may I help you today?" Mayuri asks with a seemingly sincere smile and Denki looks to his two siblings before responding,

"My brother and sister would like to be at the playground while I train my quirk." Denki says and Mayuri nods.

"Oh good! You made it just in time to reserve the very last spot for quirk training under a Pro Hero! It is unfortunately busy today so you are very lucky to reserve-"

"Wait wait wait!" The four of them heard a voice coming their way. Denki widened his eyes upon seeing her. She was possibly the most beautiful girl he's ever seen in his entire life. And he's never really been around unattractive people either.

'Whoa.' Denki feels his stomach flip and his heart racing out of his chest. The girl held her hair in a black ponytail that matched perfectly with her black eyes. Her skin was a nice healthy shade of cream and her body was second to none. A chest that could bounce up and down from the Bahamas and hips that could put hourglasses to shame.

'She has it all!' Even though Denki took his training and studies more seriously, as in straight A's and B's seriously.. Although he has yet to ever let go his healthy infatuation with women. Hell he was just thinking about bending over a cougar woman!

If there was one thing that Denki was proud of, it was his eye for an attractive woman. And this girl hit every single box Denki was looking for.

"Did you say this was the last reservation?" The girl pants and Mayuri feels a little frown slip from her smile.

"Yes, unfortunately. Today customers from all over the globe came to visit our quirk gym. So it's been insanely busy, and this young gentleman took the last spot for the rest of the day." Mayuri explains in a sincere apology and the girl that ran in sighs.

"My apologies for barging in like that. I'm sorry for the inconven-"

"What if we shared?" Denki asks abruptly. And the question shocks the girl, as well as Mayuri and his little siblings.

"Whoaa big brother! That's so nice of you!" Denyari gives him a knowing look and Denki resists the instinctive urge to roll his eyes.

"Are you sure sir?" Mayuri asks and Denki nods firmly, before looking to the black haired girl.

"I do, if you're okay with that?" Denki says and the girl widens her eyes before smiling like an angel from the high heavens.

"I would be delighted to!" She says enthusiastically and Denki looks to Mayuri with a smile,

"You heard the lady." Denki says and Mayuri smiles back.

"Of course sir, and ma'am." Mayuri then takes out a black and red plastic slip and gives it to Denki.

"This is for the quirk training, you will be in area three-o-five." Mayuri says and Denki nods. He turns to the newest addition to the group.

"I'm Denki Kaminari by the way." He smiles at her and the girl smiles back.

"Momo Yaoyorozu, it's a pleasure to meet you Denki Kaminari." She puts out her hand and Denki shakes it. When he does so, he feels a whole different electricity than the one he's been used to.

'Wow..' Denki feels his ears heat up. Momo looks at him in curiosity before leading the group.

"I can take your siblings.." She trails off and Denki looks to the twins.

"Introduce yourselves you guys." Denki says and Denyari had to pinch Dentaro from drooling over the sight of Momo.

"I'm Denyari and this dum dum is Dentaro." The effect isn't instant as Dentaro is still too stunned to make coherent and full sentences.

"So.. pretty.." Denki rolls his eyes at Dentaro's dreamlike state before pinching his ear.

"Ow ow ow!"

"Stop being weird little bro." Denki says and Momo giggles at the sight.

"You definitely lay down the law don't you Denki!" Momo covers her mouth and Denki shakes his head with amusement.

"You don't know the half of it.. Momo." Denki says and soon Momo leads the group to their expected areas.

"I almost forgot to say thank you.. about letting me train with you." Momo says quietly and Denki waves her off.

"Don't mention it. I don't mind sharing the space with you, especially someone so beautiful." Denki says and Momo blushes profusely.

"D-Denki! Don't just say words like that to someone.." She looks at the ground and Denki smiles at her.

"I couldn't help it, it just slipped out." Denki says and Momo shakes her head before bumping his side with her own.

"Charmer.." She whispers and Denki feels like fireworks were going off in his system.

If there was one thing about his life recently, it was that it wasn't a simple routine anymore.
