It was a beautiful day in Adventure Bay.

Ryder and the pups were outside enjoying the nice day. It wasn't hot nor was it too cold either. It was just right.

Chase was enjoying his time out there, watching Skye as she played tag with Zuma.

He sighed.

She was so perfect to him. There was nothing bad about her.

His ears perked as Ryder's Pup Pad rang.

He lifted his head slightly at the sound.

"Ryder, sir, your Pup Pad is ringing." Chase informed his best friend.

Ryder nods, and ruffles the pups head as he goes over to his Pad.

Ryder picked the Pad up off the table, and answered it.

"Hello?" Ryder questioned as there was nobody there at first.

All of a sudden, the Princess showed up with fear in her gaze.

"Princess?" Ryder questioned with worry in his eyes. "What's wrong?"

"Oh, Ryder it's terrible! It's just terrible!" She ranted with fear. In the background, the Earl was trying to set up some sort of protection on the door.

"What's terrible, Princess? Are you and the kingdom okay?" Ryder asked in concern.

Chase listens as Princess explains herself.

"S-So this morning when Sweetie and I were having our breakfasts, I got a text from some unknown sender. I thought at first it was a lovely text to tell me how good of a leader I am. I usually get those kinds of texts and calls on my Pup Pad, but this letter is different."

"Different?" Ryder questioned as the Princess nodded and continued.

"This letter was not a friendly one. It..."

The Princess paused, tears beginning to well in her eyes and fear showing in her eyes.

She sniffled.

"Oh, Ryder! It scares me so much! They threatened me and Sweetie! They told me they would hang Sweetie and shoot me in the head if I didn't hand over the kingdom to them!" The Princess exclaimed.

"What?!" Both Ryder and Chase exclaimed in shock.

Chase's jaw was dropped.

Why would someone threaten the Princess?

He was in shock.

He thought everyone in Barkingburg, even everyone in Adventure Bay at least tolerated the Princess as a leader unless they were the Duke, but he never thought someone would threaten her at gunpoint for her crown.

It's despicable! He thought with anger.

He also sympathized with Sweetie, but still reminded himself she was evil, and she probably brought this threat onto herself.

"Anyways, can you spare some members of the Paw Patrol? I know this might be just some threats, but Sweetie and I are scared senselessly by them."

Ryder nodded, and the call ended.

"You hear that, Chase?"

"Sounds like another mission, Sir." Chase replied, trying not to express his hatred for the white West Highland Terrier.

Many times was she a nuisance. She caused trouble, and wanted the crown.

Chase was surprised she hasn't been doing such things lately.

Ryder claims she's turned fully good alongside the Ruff Ruff Pack, but Chase didn't believe that shit for one second.

Ryder nods.

"Exactly."

Ryder pressed the home button on his Pup Pad and sent a call through to the members of the Paw Patrol. This of course included Chase.

"Paw Patrol, to the Lookout!" Ryder called out.

Voices could be heard from Skye, Zuma, and Marshall as they all began to run to the elevator.

Skye, Zuma, and Chase all stood in their spots in the elevator.

Chase was waiting for the crash that always happened when Marshall crashed into the elevator.

The three pups waited for Rocky, Rubble, and Marshall to get there.

Rubble and Rocky had been playing farther away from the rest.

Somehow, Rocky and Rubble reached the elevator before Marshall did, talking side by side.

Chase didn't know what they were talking about. They were whispering to each other.

Chase wondered what they were talking about, but it wasn't any of his business.

Marshall flew into the Lookout.

It appears he had been catapulted by something, and now he had wind going past his ears like he was a car.

"Whoa!" He exclaimed as he knocked everyone over.

He shook himself.

"It's a plane to not come into the Lookout in style. Get it?" Marshall joked.

Those jokes are getting old.

Of course, Chase and the other pups still laughed at the pun.

The elevator then closed and they went into the middle of the elevator. They got into their mission suits and the elevator stopped.

They jumped out in order and when they were all out, Chase made sure they were before he barked out to alert Ryder they were there.

"Paw Patrol, ready for action Ryder, Sir!" Chade barked.

"Thanks for coming pups. The Princess just called and informed me of something that you pups might want to hear. She got a text threatening to kill her and Sweetie." Ryder began.

This ensued a bunch of gasps from the pups.

"Who would do something like this?" Rubble asked in a slight whine.

We don't know who would do something like this. That's why I called you all here. I want to keep most of you here, but I want," Ryder continued as he clicks on Chase's symbol and pictures showed up on the screen.

"Chase!"

Chase straightens.

Just great. He thought negatively. I get to help little miss greedy pup...but this is a mission. I suppose I have no choice.

Chase's face didn't betray his thoughts as he listened.

"I want you to be Sweetie's bodyguard. I also want you to research possible people or pups who would want to do this to Sweetie and the Princess." Ryder informed him.

"What?! Why do I have to be her bodyguard?!" Chase exclaimed in anger.

"Because you are the best at helping others. Please, Chase. Just do it. You won't be alone in this." Ryder begged him.

Chase looked away.

He had to do this.

If he didn't do it...the Princess might die.

Okay. I'll do it for the Princess. He convinced himself.

He nodded at Ryder.

"Okay. Sorry. I was being unprofessional there for a moment, Ryder. It's just..." Chase began.

He struggled with liking villains. Especially when those villains tricked his friends and could have hurt them.

Ryder only smiled.

"I understand, Chase."

He then continues.

"Tuck and Ella!" He calls out, calling Tuck and Ella. They were in the middle of having fun somewhere in a city nearby called Adventure City.

They were playing in the trash.

"What is it, Ryder?" Tuck asked.

"Is it the Ladybird?" Ella wonders with sparkling eyes.

Ryder shook his head.

"It's this nice Princess I know. She and her royal pup are being threatened by an unknown source, and I was wondering if you two could spare your time from stopping the Ladybird. I think your skills can be useful." Ryder informed.

Both the twins gasp.

"That's terrible!" They chorused before glancing at each other and laughing.

"Of course we can spare some time for this, Ryder! No one deserves to be threatened like that!" Tuck declared, stomping his foot.

Ella nodded in agreement.

"You can count on us, Ryder! Just tell us where it is, and Tuck and I will be there."

After Ryder disclosed the information regarding Barkingburg, Chase set out for the Barkingburg Palace.

"I can't believe I have to watch over that malicious mutt." He mumbled underneath his breath as he put his paw to the pedal.

It didn't take long to get there.

Tuck and Ella were waiting for him when he got there.

"Hi, Chase!" Tuck and Ella exclaimed together as they looked at each other, giggling slightly at their twin link.

Chase greeted them silently with a dip of his head.

"Hello!" He chirped as they all waited near the door to the palace together.

"So, how's the paw patrol? It's been a while." Ella remarked.

Chase shrugged.

"We're okay. A little lax on the missions, but otherwise we're still doing our job." Chase informed them as professional as possible, puffing out his chest in pride.

"So...do we knock?" Tuck wondered.

Ella shrugged.

"I dunno bro. This situation is pretty serious. Plus Ryder told us they were barricading the palace. It's such a sad thing to see. Someone giving in to the evil within them and then targeting innocent people." Ella remarked.

I don't know about that. Princess sure, but Sweetie, he shuddered, she's not so innocent.

The door then opened.

"Oh, it's so good to see you, Chase! It's horrible what that person or pup is doing: threatening me and my precious pooch, Sweetie." Princess told him.

The Princess acknowledged Tuck and Ella.

"I called you and your friends right over to be our bodyguards as you can clearly see. I heard from Ryder they're super pups!" She said with a smile.

Chase smiled back at her, but his smile immediately turned into a frown when Sweetie poked her head from the crack in the door.

"I am the Princess of Barkingburg. It's nice to meet you pups." The Princess introduced with a slight bow.

Tuck and Ella bowed.

"It's nice to meet you too, Princess!" They both exclaimed at the same time. "I'm Tuck!" "I'm Ella!" "It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance!"

Both pups laughed at how they were speaking at the same time.

Their tails were going as the Princess leaned over and pet them.

"The pleasure is all mine. What cute pups!" She squealed.

Sweetie smiled.

"It's nice to meet you two, Tuck, Ella. My name is Sweetie. I am the royal pooch. Thank you so much for coming!" She barked.

Her tail was wagging.

She waved a paw at them.

Chase's nose wrinkled.

Ugh! He thought in disgust.

Why was she pretending to be so nice to them?

She won't fool me! Chase thought determinedly.

"Follow me, Ella, Tuck! I'll show you where you sleep! As for Chase, I would appreciate it if you could hear over Sweetie for a little bit while I'm getting these two cuties comfortable. I promise those days are behind us. She won't bite or bark awfully this time." The Princess informed them.

She lead Tuck and Ella somewhere else, in grace—presumably their rooms.

I'm not buying it! Sweetie will always be the same naughty Sweetie! Chase thought, venom in his thoughts.

Chase walked in along with everyone else.

The door closed, and Sweetie approached him.

Chase wanted to back away in disgust.

Villains never change!

Sweetie had excited expression on her face, her tail wagging even more. Was that even possible?

"It's so good to see you again, Chase!" She greets with a smile on her face.

It was genuine, but Chase couldn't see that past his judgmental facade.

Chase snarled, turning away from the West Terrier in disgust.

"Tch! It's not good to see a villain such as yourself. You disgust me! Leave me alone!" He snarled, baring his fangs.

This scared and upset Sweetie greatly.

She ran off, leaving him alone.

Chase could see some tears roll down her cheeks as she left him alone like he asked.

For a second Chase felt guilty.

Maybe he was too harsh.

Maybe she did change?

He shook it off.

She's just pretending to be like that. She's just trying to manipulate me so she can steal the crown again. I won't let that happen!
