Onto the next arc: One Moment in Time!
Later on, Izuku's friends would be taking turns around his bed as he slowly began to wake up and drift in and out of consciousness, his memory coming back to him bit by bit as he tries to remember how he ended up in such a condition. The process would be long and painful, and Izuku's friends would find themselves constantly tiptoeing around the event that had got Izuku into a coma in the first place, not entirely sure whether or not they should properly explain what happened to him before he was ready.
But something else would arise during this time. A question on whether or not Izuku would, or even should, be charged with the crimes that Venom committed during their time bonded with each other. Izuku and his friends are, of course, adamantly against this, but then it is revealed that this is a serious grey matter in terms of legality and blame, as whilst Izuku had been under the Symbiote's control, he had willingly surrendered himself to it, and it could be argued that he fuelled its actions and willingly let them happen as well.
The stress of Izuku's friends and family would only be made worse by the fact that the press was continually trying to pressure them into interviews about Izuku and the possibility of him going to prison, eager to get the next big scoop. The most persistent out of all of these people would be one Chitose Kizuki, the same reporter from when Spider-Man was being chased down by the pro heroes for Toga's crimes, and also the one with the most investment in slandering Spider-Man and his allies on her news channel. She would spend much of her time chasing down and harassing Peter and his friends for any information regarding Izuku, and trying to link him to Peter's previous trial, as well as gain information on both F.E.A.S.T. and the Future Foundation, hoping to slander them both for her own purposes.
During this time, Inko would also be lost in her own grief and remorse at Izuku's condition, left with much directionless anger inside of her that she didn't know what to do with. Aunt May would try to comfort her as best as she could, alongside Keemia and the others, but she would still be left lost and without much hope in her, feeling that she failed her son.
And elsewhere, Keemia would be encountering problems of her own, as various heroes, some of them from Overhaul's agency, would start harassing her due to her father's, Sandman's, rampage through the city months before, and would be mocked for being taken over by Swarm, like her father, and treated like a villain for it, all the while those same heroes from Overhaul's agency would be fishing for information themselves.
Also during this time, she would then be approached by a pro hero by the name of Slidin' Go, who would try to show her a pamphlet that he had made, promoting the ideals of Deika City and the thought of joining the community there. However, Keemia would remember how this hero had led the charge against Peter during the fake Spider-Man incident, and would turn him away, despite his pestering.
Then, she would be cornered once more by Chitose Kizuki, who would be insistent about getting an interview from the teenage girl and getting as much information out of her for her big scoop, as she calls it.
However, it is then that Adriana finds them, and proceeds to read Chitose the riot act, telling her to leave or she would have her new channel investigated for unprofessional conduct and possibly breaking several privacy laws by consistently harassing and hounding on people who didn't want to be interviewed.
And when Chitose tries to interview Adriana as well, the latter would simply grab Chitose's microphone, and crush it in her hands.
Chitose and her team would leave, somewhat humbled, but undeterred from their mission. The greater cause of the Meta Liberation Army depended on Spider-Man's downfall, alongside the neutralisation of F.E.A.S.T. and the Future Foundation before they could ever become a threat, and by Destro's name, she wasn't going to fail.
Meanwhile, Adriana would talk with Keemia, promising to protect both Izuku and her should there by any attempts to arrest them both under false pretences. Keemia would, strangely, find it easy to trust Adriana (she failed to notice the strange floral scent in the air), and would thank her as she promised to get Keemia a meeting with her father, who she hadn't been able to contact since he went to one of Japan's prisons.
And then, one day later, Izuku would wake up, and remember everything that happened, including how he had, in his rage and resentment, given himself over to Venom, who had then gone on a rampage across not just U.A., his dream school, and then across Japan itself… and all the people he'd hurt…
He would cry. Cry until his lungs felt heavy and his eyes went red and raw.
Completely unrelated to this chapter, but I've just remembered that Night-Spider (Felicia Hardy as a spider thief) exists out there in the multiverse, and now I need to find a way to incorporate her into this.
