Mineta and the rest of Class 1-A made their way to the central courtyard of the training sectors, seeing their teachers, including All Might.
As Mina and Kaminari saw this, they were the first to speak.
"Are we fighting you guys instead of robots and accumulating points?" The pair asked simultaneously.
Almost in response, Principal Nedzu pops out from Aizawa's capture scarf and climbs down 1-A's homeroom teacher.
"Why, yes. Unfortunately, I will be unable to partake due to my quirk's use in after exam analysis. So, unfortunately for Todoroki-san and Mineta-san, they will have a volunteer chaperone be their opponent." Nedzu explained.
"Due to recent events, we've decided to change things up. You will be put in pairs and will have to either escape through a designated exit or put one of these cuffs on us." The small Chimera explained, pulling out a pair of strange looking handcuffs and showing them to the students.
"Here are the groupings. Yaoyorozu and Hanta are going against Midnight. Kaminari and Ashido are against me. Midoriya and Bakugo against All Might. Iida and Mashirao against Power Loader. Kirishima and Sato against Cementoss. Uraraka and Aoyama against Thirteen. Kyoka and Koji against Present Mic. Hagakure and Mezo against Snipe. And finally, Mineta and Todoroki against E-" "Me, " Aizawa explained before being interrupted by a voice that only Todoroki recognized.
A tall, sturdily-built man with a very muscular physique. He has short crimson hair, which he wears spiked up around his head, and sharp turquoise eyes. His beard and mustache appear to be made of fire. His arms crossed over his chest.
At the sight of the Flame Hero: Endeavor, Midoriya began geeking out as most of the broccli boy's classmates stood in awe, gazing admiringly at the number two hero.
However, only one two stood still, their gazes unflinching. One due to hatred as his gaze was anything but a glare. The other one was in fear.
Mineta's gaze honed in on the flames dancing around Endeavor's head and face. Everything else became muffled as his heart hammered against his ribs. The tree bark around his arms, which began creaking and groaning, and hurting, the sections of bark facing Endeavor began pressing against his muscles and bones firmly enough to be on the verge of pain, while the sections of bark facing away from him trying to pull away from him, feeling like his skin is being peeled off despite the tree bark remaining on his body.
The tree bark skin began fading away, returning to Mineta's normal skin before anyone could notice his discomfort. Endeavor stood giving a mixed glare at Mineta, part scrutinizing, part studying, and part hateful, his eyes scanning the small student as the rest of the class and teachers soon departed into the viewing room to prepare for their matches.
"Boy. I wish to speak with you in private. Now." Endeavor boomed before taking Mineta to an area behind the building.
As soon as Mineta and Endeavor were alone, Endeavor turned to look at the short teen, his eyes burning holes in the teen's skull.
"I have seen and heard what you are capable of, young man. I see potential in you. Don't disappoint me." Endeavor spoke, giving Mineta a firm nod before walking away to the training grounds that Mineta's and Todoroki's end of term physical exam would be taking place.
Training Grounds Zulu
Training Grounds Zulu was, by far, the most labyrinthine and confusing training grounds area in all of U.A., due to it being a forested mountain range. Making it the most difficult to traverse unless with the proper gear or quirk.
Currently, Mineta and Todoroki were walking through a small clearing. Mineta was using his quirk, having his arms as vine tendrils, to scan the environment while Todoroki stood, staring off at a random point in the sky.
"Are you gonna say... something? Anything?" Mineta asked, his vine tendrils still gathering information about their surroundings via feeling around. Todoroki jumped slightly at the sudden question before returning to his still yet ready stance.
"My quirk isn't suited for gathering information. I thought it would be best if you focus on finding the exit while I cover our backs." Todoroki stated in a neutral tone, his hand griping the air.
"I already found the exit; it's northwest from here. I agree that you should cover our backs, but remembering the Sports Festival, I have questions," Mineta took a pause, waiting for Todoroki to give him a nod, "First of all, I saw that you were only using half your quirk. Note that I have no problem with holding back, but why?" Mineta continued, giving Todoroki a curious glance
"I made a vow to never use my left side because of what my father did." Todoroki stated with a hint of hatred in his voice, but Mineta could tell that the hatred wasn't aimed towards him.
"I know that I don't know what you've been through at home with the family, but let me give you some advice. If you ever think that your parents are too hard on you, you never know what they're going through. Your father might be an asshole, but maybe he fears that all is hard work will be for nothing. Seeing he's the number two hero despite having the highest number of cases. He does more work than anyone else yet he isn't recognized enough for it." Mineta said as his vine tendrils carefully yet quickly move trees out of the duo's path towards the exit.
Todoroki only stared at Mineta with wide eyes, silently at awe at the short teen's surprising wisdom. However, before Todoroki could respond, he and Mineta came across a wall of fire.
Mineta began experiencing a similar reaction to the wall of flames to that of Endeavor's flames and while Todoroki began attempting to clear a path, Mineta began panicking for some reason. His mind and body were calm, yet his vine tendrils were in a state of panic and readied to make him flee.
Before Mineta could react, his vine tendrils flung him away, leaving Todoroki to face both the wall of flames, and the dual haired classmate's rapidly approaching father alone.
I am so sorry about the hiatus. I was experiencing major writer's block as well as some personal issues. I will be getting back into the rhythm of things so expect more chapters coming soon.
