At Unnamed Village Soar was giving the news, with Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Sticks, Old Monkey, Fastidious Beaver, and Wild Cat watching.
"Breaking news! An epidemic is sweeping across the globe. Beaver Fever!" Soar said and everyone stepped away from Fastidious Beaver. "I'm not talking about an actual disease, of course. I'm colourfully describing the mania surrounding teen singing sensation..." he said and the screen showed a stylized image of Justin Beaver. "Justin Beaver." he said and a series of clips show Justin Beaver on stage, waving to a group of fans and running away from photographers. "Girls everywhere are going gaga over this teen heartthrob. They just can't get enough of him." he said and the screen cut back to himself. "And suddenly, "Dad the Anchorbird" isn't cool anymore. Well, maybe Justin Beaver will foot the bill for private school instead of buying those golf clubs he really wanted!"
"Just what the world needs! Another cookie-cutter pop star force-fed to us by the man." Sticks said.
"You're right. This "Beaver Fever!" thing is clearly just a marketing ploy to sell sub-standard music to gullible teenage girls. Who could possibly fall for it?" Sonic asked with her arms crossed when Amy suddenly ran up, wearing and holding a lot of Justin Beaver merchandise. "Oh Jesus."
"Isn't Justin great?! When I listened to his first song, Girl, I Like You, I wasn't sure if Justin was actually talking about me. But then his next song was titled Yes, I'm Actually Talking About You, and I, like, totally freaked out!" Amy said.
"How can you allow yourself to become a pawn of the corporate fat cats?" Sticks asked.
"Before you judge, just listen to one track. I don't want to overhype it... but he's the greatest entertainer who ever lived!"
Later Team Sonic was at Amy's house listening to one of Justin Beaver's songs and Amy was absolutely giddy while Sonic, Tails and Knuckles weren't impressed.
"Girl, now it's time I told you about my serious condition. I can't stop thinking about you, have to call a physician." Justin sang and Sonic finally reached over and turned the radio off.
"Ugh. That was terrible!" Sonic said.
"I finally have a soundtrack for my nightmares." Knuckles said.
"I... love it!" Sticks said.
"I knew I could rely on Sticks to be the voice of reason!" Amy said.
"We're through the looking glass here, people. White is black, and black is white." Tails said.
"Wait until you hear the rest of the album!" she said still giddy and she and Sticks squealed like fangirls.
"Hey, Sticks. You still on for rock climbing tomorrow?" Sonic asked.
"Uh, sure. Whatever." Sticks said and she and Amy started squealing again.
'Hmmm.' Sonic thought playing with her medallion.
Knuckles looked at her and got closer.
"What is it?" he whispered.
"Something isn't right. I don't know if he's hypnotizing people or something and why it's only girls and not working on me." she whispered and looked at him. "Could it be my medallion maybe?"
"Maybe."
Tails looked at them confused and curious about what they were talking about.
No one knows one thing about Sonic but Knuckles and Eggman. And that is that Sonic is the oldest daughter of Queen Aleena and leader of Sonic Underground.
After the video game problem Sonic had left to keep Robotnik busy while Sonia and Manic took care of Sleet and Dingo.
They hadn't heard from each other in four years but Knuckles would keep them posted now and then.
Then next day they were at Sticks' Burrow.
"Hello? Sticks? You ready to go?" Sonic asked and saw Sticks' Burrow covered with Justin Beaver merchandise.
"What happened in here?" Knuckles asked.
"I turned my burrow into a totes adorbs tribute to Justin!" Sticks said.
"Oh... is that what's going on here?" Sonic asked when Amy cam running in.
"Sticks! Sticks! Sticks! You are not gonna believe it. Justin Beaver is in town, and he's doing a signing at the music shop right now!" Amy said and they squealed again. "And he'll be performing in concert at Village Center this weekend!" she said and they squealed loudly, making Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles cover their ears.
"You really need to stop doing that."
"What should we wear?" Sticks asked.
"I was thinking about wearing the one outfit that I own!" Amy said.
"Me too!" Sticks said and they ran out, squealing more.
"I can understand Amy fangirling out, but Sticks? There's something fishy about this "Beaver Fever". We need to investigate." Sonic said.
Later at Unnamed Village a long line of girls were lined up at the music store. Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles were standing a ways away and Dixon was about to introduce him.
"I hope you ladies are ready, because here he is! The boy who'd sweep you off your feet if he didn't have such tiny little arms, your favorite global pop phenomenon... Justin Beaver!" Dixon said and Justin walked out, pointed and winked at the girls as they start screaming.
He's soon seated and signing photographs. First in line was Zooey so he signed a photo and handed it to her.
"You're the only fan I care about." Justin said and Zooey squealed and moved off so he signed another photo and handed it to Perci. "You're the only fan I care about." he said and Perci giggled and walked off and he signed another photo and handed it to Lady Walrus. "You're the only fan I care about."
"Be my baby!" Lady Walrus said and fainted.
"Just step over her." Dixon said. "We're not selling enough merch. Turn up the track!" he said aside to Wild Cat and Wild Cat turned up the Justin Beaver music.
"Yo, yo, my doc warned you are my cholesterol. But baby, I know you're the best of all."
The girls in line were sent into a buying frenzy and Sonic and the others were watching this.
"Whatever's going on, that guy's behind it." Sonic said and they approach, but were cut off by Salty.
"Music industry professionals only." Salty said.
"Don't worry. I got this." Knuckles said, pulled out a trumpet and started playing it, but badly and Salty was unimpressed.
"How are we gonna convince this guy we're in the music biz?" Tails asked.
"I know just what to do…" Sonic said.
'But I might need to call the others for this.' she thought and Knuckles looked at her.
Soon they were at Sonic's Shack.
"We'll form our very own band!" Sonic said.
"Did you really have to bring us all the way down here to finish that sentence?" Tails asked.
"A band?! We'll lose our street cred! What about our machismo?! Mmm, cheese-mo." Knuckles said.
"I know. But if we want to find out what's going on with the girls, we're going to have to man up!" Sonic said.
"And by "man up," you mean rehearse a choreographed dance routine and matching sequined outfits?" Tails asked.
"Exactly! It's gonna take a lot of hard work, so we'd better get started."
Later Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles were running through a dance routine in perfect sync while wearing matching sequined jackets and microphone headsets.
"That was way easier than I rem- thought." Sonic said.
Tails: "Now we just have to pick a name." Tails said and she checked her watch.
"Well, we've still got a little montage time left."
Later Sonic threw away a piece of paper. Knuckles had an idea, but lost it. Sonic threw away another piece of paper into the half-full trash can while Tails worked on a formula on a chalkboard, but erased part of it. Sonic threw another piece of paper into the now-overflowing trash while calendar pages rain down, seemingly showing months pass.
"Knuckles, stop tearing pages off that calendar!" Sonic said and Knuckles turned away, revealing that he's tearing pages of the calendar.
"Okay, fine." Knuckles said.
"We're supposed to be thinking of band names!"
"I was saving this name for if I ever formed a band, but how about... Dude-itude?"
"That's too awesome sounding. It needs to be something soft and inoffensive. Something like-"
"-Dreamboat Express?" Tails said.
"Eww!" they said.
"It's perfect." Sonic said.
Later Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles were at Village Center in their sequined jackets, approaching Salty who held out his hand.
"Music industry professionals only." Salty said.
"We are music industry professionals. We're Justin's opening act." Sonic said and they went through their Dreamboat Express routine but Salty just shook his head.
"I guess this is the end of Dreamboat Express." Knuckles said.
""Dreamboat Express"? With a name like that, you've gotta be professionals!" Salty said. "Come on in." he said and opened the rope gate.
Soon they were Backstage Area peering out from behind a Justin Beaver standee.
"There he is. Now to find out his evil scheme." Sonic whispered.
"Your three o'clock got moved to six o'clock, your six o'clock got moved to four o'clock..." Wild Cat said.
"I guess it makes sense that he wouldn't conveniently reveal his evil scheme the exact moment we happen to be listening." Tails whispered.
"Shifting gears completely, how's our evil scheme coming along?" Dixon asked.
"Lookin' good! Justin will debut his new single, which has fifty percent more mind control!" Wild Cat said.
"Perfect! Any female within a five mile radius will be turned into a mindless consumer zombie, and I'll be reaping the profits." Dixon said and laughed evilly.
Then Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles ducked back behind the standee.
"Mind control. That explains it." Sonic said.
'I think I might need the real band together for this.' she thought when two Fennec Garbage Men removed the standee.
"Intruders! Get them!" Dixon said and they were chased off by Dixon and Wild Cat.
Sonic, Tails and Knuckles ran back across the screen, followed by Dixon and Wild Cat. Soon they were chasing Dixon and Wild Cat. Then they were backing in from one side, and Dixon and Wild Cat from the other. When they bumped into each other, both sides ran off.
Later they were at Amy's House.
""Mind control"?! That's preposterous! Justin would never do that! He and I have a special bond." Amy said.
"Us too! He even wrote a song only about me. It's called Every Single Girl I've Ever Met." Sticks said.
"But it's true! Justin's producer conveniently revealed the whole scheme! Right in front of us! Talk about lazy writing." Knuckles said.
"Trust us, guys. We're not under mind control." Amy said. "Let's get to that concert so we can spend our life savings on Justin Beaver Merchandise!" She said to Sticks and they squealed and ran off.
"Damnit." Sonic muttered and sighed playing with her medallion.
"Don't worry. I know just what to do…" Tails said.
"Me too." she said and picked up her phone.
"What is it?" he asked and looked at Knuckles to see him nodding. "Knuckles?"
"Hey guys. I need some help. Musical help. Just have Cyrus track me. He knows where to find me! Sonia, just get here and I'll tell you!" she said and hung up. "Jesus Christ! She's got to learn to relax!"
"Wait, Sonia? As in Princess Sonia?"
"Yeah. Look, we'll explain when they get here but for now tell us the plan."
Later they were at Tails' Workshop.
"...Since the mind control is embedded in Justin's music track, there must be an opposite sound frequency that could counter it. Just need to find it. Thus, the Measure-o-meter!" Tails said working on a device.
"It's fun to bring people a long way to finish a sentence, isn't it?" Sonic asked.
"It really is."
Suddenly there was a van and two people came out running to them.
"Sonic!" they said and gave her a hug.
"Hey guys." Sonic said and hugged them back.
"What am I? Invisible?" Knuckles asked and Sonia looked at him.
"Knuckles!" Sonia said and gave him a hug and he kissed her.
"I knew you still loved her!" Sonic said and looked at Manic. "You owe me 50 bucks!" she said and he groaned, picked up a 50 and gave it to her.
"What?!" Sonia and Knuckles said shocked.
"We made a bet. I said you don't like each other anymore and she said you still love each other." Manic said with his arms crossed.
"Manic! Sonic!" Sonia yelled.
"Enough chit chat." Sonic said smirking. "Guys, this is Tails, Tails these are Sonia and Manic."
"How on earth do you both know the prince and one of the princesses of Mobius?!" Tails asked confused and shocked.
"It's a long story." Knuckles said.
"And we don't have time for this." Sonic said and took out a piece of paper. "Here. Read this and learn your lines. I wrote it earlier." she said and handed Sonia the paper.
Sonia took it and they read it learning the lyrics and notes.
"How are they gonna learn it so quickly?" Tails asked.
"We have practice." Manic said.
"Plenty of practice." Sonia said. "All set. We got it down in our head." she said and gave it back to Sonic.
"Well that was fast." Tails said surprised.
"Like we said, practice." she said smiling and he nodded.
Later on Stage.
"And now, here he is. The nocturnal, semi-aquatic rodent of your dreams, Justin Beaver!" the announcer said.
As Justin ran onto the stage in front of the screaming crowd of girls, Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Sonia and Manic dressed in their Dreamboat Express jackets, headed for the backstage area.
"In order for me to calibrate the Measure-o-meter, we need to get on that stage without being seen." Tails said.
"Hey! You there!" Salty said.
"Huh?!" Sonic, Tails and Knuckles said.
"The show's starting! The opening act needs to be up on that stage!" he said and they walked backstage, whistling innocently. "Man! I'm good at my job. What would they do without me?"
A few seconds later they were onstage.
"Has your Measure-o-meter discovered the counter-frequency?" Sonic asked.
"Not yet. We have to stall Justin!" Tails said.
"OK. Me, Tails and Knuckles will take care of this but after, Sonic Underground is back." she said to Sonia and Manic smirking together and they ran on stage.
"Who are you?" Justin asked.
"Dreamboat Express!" Sonic said. "I hate that name." she said and groaned quietly. "And we challenge you... to a sing-off!" she said in her normal voice.
"What are they doing here?!" Dixon asked.
"You should expect the expected, and nothing more 'cause you've all heard this song and dance before! Our moves are stale, our harmony's bland, 'cause we're just another "Woohoo!" generic boy band." Sonic, Tails and Knuckles sang.
"Wow, they're pretty good!" Amy said.
"I'd love to meet those guys someday." Sticks said and Justin stepped up, waving Dreamboat Express aside.
"I've got a bold confession, and I think it's time you knew. I'm into you specifically, girl and no other girl will do." Justin sang and Sonia and Manic winced at the tune.
"That dude is awful." Manic said and Sonia nodded.
"He's talking about me!" Amy and Sticks said. "In your face!" they said to each other.
Then Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles came back on stage.
"Yo, yo, yo! We're bringing it weak, and we're bringing it lame... Whatever we can do to keep it all the same! We're focus-tested, and radio-friendly!" they sang together.
"The only thing that matters is that we stay trendy!" Tails sang.
"You're unique, you're complex and interesting, girl, and I'm not being hyperbolic. Let's carve our name into a tree. It's vandalism... but it's symbolic!" Justin sang.
Then Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles jumped back on stage again.
"You should expect the expected, and nothing more 'cause you've all heard this song and dance before! Our phony-baloney image is bland 'cause we're just another - Huh! - generic boy band." they sang.
"Won't you please be my special girl? We'll do the things you want to do. And take a trip to the place you like, and be home before" Justin sang and extended note. "curfew!" he sang and Sonia and Manic winced while Tails' Measure-o-meter picked up the counter-frequency from his extended note.
"The counter-frequency! Of course! I should have known all along!" Tails said.
Sonic looked at Sonia and Manic and nodded so they came in and took out their instruments.
Sonic on guitar, Sonia on keyboard, and Manic on drums and Sonic played a tune on her guitar.
"Drop that generic phat beat!" she said and the crowd cheered.
"Not rock and roll!" Dixon said.
"Ladies and... uh... ladies. Prepare for the musical stylings of... Sonic Underground!" Knuckles said and Tails gasped.
"You thought we'd never beat the Fever. But now we're here to make you believers! Sonic and Crew, rockin' with the chemistry! Crummy boy band music. Is. The. Enemy!" Sonic sang, turned, her guitar firing a sound wave that knocked over Justin Beaver and snapped the audience out of the boy band trance.
"What happened? Where are we?!" Amy asked.
"I don't know! But listen to that sweet guitar solo." Sticks said and Sonic Underground kept playing, as the crowd started throwing away their Justin Beaver merchandise while Justin got up.
"Your power rock ballad has freed me from the evil spell of mind control! Now I can move into an industry where I won't be exploited by unscrupulous producers. Hello, humiliating reality TV series!" Justin said.
"I'm ruined... I'm ruined!" Dixon said.
"We're here!" Sonic sang.
"We're Sonic Underground!" Sonic, Sonia and Manic sang.
"And though you may find us crude and rude, we have to conclude you'll come unglued now that you've heard us…"
"Sonic Underground!"
"Now, let's hear some real music!" she said and started.

Everyone cheered when they finished and Tails was shocked while Knuckles smiled.
"Sonic Underground everyone!" Knuckles said, grabbed Sonia and kissed her.
Sonic and Manic smirked while everyone else was shocked and confused.
When he let go they looked at each other.
"I love you. I've loved you since you came to me for that Chaos Emerald fiasco years ago." Knuckles said.
"I love you to." Sonia said.
"Will you be my girlfriend?"
"Yes."
"HUH!" Sonic said. "Now you owe me a hundred more!" she said and Manic groaned and tossed her the cash.
"How do you do it?" Manic asked and she smirked.
"When you're a Freedom Fighter from the age of four to fifteen, create Team Sonic years after we split up, practice."
"How do you know prince Manic and princess Sonia?" Tails asked looking at Sonic and then Knuckles.
Sonic and Knuckles looked at each other and nodded.
"I'm their sister and we went to Angel Island back when it was called the Floating Island. A few months later we went back and he helped us with a Chaos Emerald problem." Sonic said.
"WHAT?!" everyone said.
"I'm not really an idiot either. I hid it. Eggman is really Robotnik and the three of us made a truce to keep this quiet until Sonic was ready." Knuckles said.
"Sonia and Manic have been taking care of Sleet and Dingo while I take down Eggman." Sonic said and looked at Sonia and Manic. "What happened to them anyway?"
"Robotocized." Manic said. "So we've been looking for mom."
"And?"
"At the castle now." Sonia said smiling. "We found her a month after Sleet and Dingo were gone." she said and Sonic smiled.
"Awesome!"
"Does this mean you're coming home?" Manic asked.
"I can't. Buttnik is still here." she said and they sighed. "One day I'll be back." she said and they nodded.
"I'll look after her guys." Knuckles said. "I'm the strongest one of the team, Tails is the brains, Amy is the organization and Sticks is, uh, something." he said and Sonic snickered.
"He's right, I'll be fine." she said and they nodded.
"We've been treating a princess bad?" someone said and Sonia and Manic looked at Sonic in shock.
"What?!" they said.
"Nothing. I just don't get treated that great but I'm used to it." Sonic said and everyone twitched.
"Come home and you'll be treated great." Sonia said gently. "Mom said you're the oldest and next in line." she said and Sonic froze.
"WHAT?!" she and Knuckles said.
"Sonic is fifteen minutes older than me and five minutes older than Sonia." Manic said. "So, when we get old enough or something happens to mom, you take the throne."
Sonic stood there quietly for a minute then nodded.
"OK then." she said and looked at them both. "I can't leave them. They need me." she said and they nodded.
"We'll tell mom and let her know you're doing alright and have a team to help you." Sonia said and gave her a hug.
"Keep an eye on her OK Knuckles?"
"I will." Knuckles said nodding.
They nodded back and all left the stand.
Later they were at Sonic's Shack.
"Use your medallion now that they know who and what you are." Sonia said and Sonic nodded.
"Fine." Sonic said and they hugged each other.
"Later Echidna dude." Manic said and gave Knuckles a high five.
"Be careful." Sonia said and gave him a kiss.
"We'll be fine." Knuckles said. "I'll keep an eye on her." he said and they nodded.
Then Sonia and Manic got in the van and drove away.
"Why didn't you tell us you were related to princess Sonia and prince Manic?!" Amy asked and Sonic and Knuckles winced.
"I don't want special treatment." Sonic said and heard something they all know. "Now, let's go kick Eggman's ass!" she said smirking and unleashed her medallion.
"Let's do it!" they all set and got to work.
