Inkaliber: Hello everyone! I want to quickly apologize for the long wait. I'm having to balance updating this story, college, internship searching, and trying to work on my other stories. Like I said before I have no real update schedule, so please just be patient with me.
Anyway, things are going to be a bit different this time. Today we're taking a break from the main group. As to what end that is, well the title is a little hint. As soon as we get into it though, I think some will know exactly who the focus will be. Let's go ahead and…
Jessie: Hey!
Inkaliber: What? What's going on?
Jessie: How come we can't do our motto anymore!? We've been waiting for more chances to do it! I feel like we're being underappreciated!
Inkaliber: Sorry you feel that way Jess but we can't have the motto every chapter. Plus this isn't a Pokémon story. I feel like I'd be misusing you guys.
Jessie:… Okay. Sigh. I can get your point.
Inkaliber: Tell you what. Let me read the reviews and then I'll let you do the disclaimer.
Jessie: Oh yes! That sounds wonderful!
Inkaliber: Alright then. Review time.
Mace- Some interesting ideas you've got there. I'll have to think about that first one. As for the second one I guess it'll depend on how old Damian would be at this point. After all Dick is a young adult and he's pretty much the oldest of the boys.
LunarCouncillor- Yeah that was supposed to be a chat one but I decided to change it a bit. I will say the previous chapter is not the shortest I've written for this story. Glad you liked it nonetheless.
P96822- Thanks for the compliment! I figure seeing the Titans in action through videos and having the guild around has helped her work on her trust a bit more. No distrust between these two.
I'll have to look into that scene, Deadpool. I… forgot that was a thing as far as the Kwami stuff. For the sake of not rewriting that whole chapter let's just say that they can focus into something to make themselves perceptible. I'll have to think about that last bit.
Candledeep_Archivist- Glad you like it!
The_Keeper_of_Worlds- Oh you'll see. You'll all see.
Jessie: Please do not do the psycho laugh. That would not be a good look on you sir.
Inkaliber:… Spoil my fun, why don't you.
Gideon_phantom- Lol. That's a good one. Yeah it kinda is dead here, but just in this story. I definitely have a lot of stories in the planning stage with the love square in mind. While Adrien is a little sheltered he does not deserve so much crap served on him.
FreelanceroftheTriforceKeyblade- Yeah I love the thought of a dramatic Plagg. I figured it would be best to show you guys that poor Chat is not being left out in the dark on important information. There are definitely no bad secrets allowed in this team.
yellowwinx8- Yeah. She really needs a chill pill.
Ashley Young- Yeah. I did my best to have the group take him seriously. Plagg just wanted to poke fun at him and Chloe played along.
N3ffy- Thanks for all the stars!
Reader- I promise I'm working on Chan in Bellwood. It's just taking longer than I anticipated. Please be patient.
I recommend making an account on FFN. That way you can follow me and get notifications on when I update my stories and it's completely free. No need to write any stories whatsoever.
divinerainbowsparklescat- I would have preferred if you asked me before using the comments to advertise your discord, but it's a little late now. Lol. Also, I recommend commenting on the actual chapter before you ask to do such a thing. I'm being nice about it. Someone else might not be so nice. Just looking out for people.
For anyone on FFN who wants to see what I'm talking about, you can find this in the comments of chapter 8 over on Ao3.
Speedykitten1643- Thanks for the compliments! I'll do my best! Here's the next chapter!
MariWollsch- Thanks for the compliment! I don't know what the x's mean (unless it's kisses or something) but I'll do my best. Here's the next chapter right now.
Inkaliber: That's all the reviews for now! Take it away Jessie!
Jessie: Sir yes sir! Ehem! The author doesn't own Miraculous, Danny Phantom, Marvel, DC, or any other series that show up here. He does, however, own any original characters, concepts, creatures, and places that work their way into the story unless stated otherwise. Button pressing time!
Inkaliber: I didn't say you could…!

Metropolis, USA
Another beautiful day in Metropolis came and went as the night began to set in. Just because the moon was out didn't mean that the streets were less active. All throughout the night businessmen, partygoers, civil workers and all other kinds of people walked the streets. It was almost on par with New York as far as traffic goes. A man could be found ordering two hotdogs from a cart.
"That'll be ten dollars sir." Sighed the worker. The big man pulled some money out of his pocket, placing it down on the cart. He quickly grabbed his food and went on his way.
"Keep the change." Practically laughed the man. The worker looked over the money, quickly realizing that there was no tip. He sighed, barely missing something floating behind him. The big man sat down at a nearby bench, taking in the fresh air of a beautiful night. He moved to take a bite out of one of his hotdogs, only to bite his own hand.
He cried out in pain, waving the offended appendage around. He gasped when he realized that one of his hotdogs was missing. "I've been robbed! Where's my hotdog!?" People ignored the man, seeing that he had a hotdog in his other hand.
In a nearby alley, a little girl with black hair and blue eyes could be seen. She wore a red beanie, a blue hoodie, red shorts, and worn red sneakers. She chuckled as she held the hotdog up to her face.
"One jerk's snack is my next meal." Said the girl. She quickly took a bite of the meal, nearly squealing in delight. "That vendor looked lazy but he actually did a great job on the condiments. Wish I could give him a tip without that fat jerk noticing."
She shrugged as she continued to eat her meal. If the people who knew her saw her doing this then she'd definitely be scolded for stealing. In the end though nothing could be done. She finished the meal and walked back into the city. She disappeared as soon as she rounded the corner.
In another part of the city, a rather large bank stood. It was known as one of the safest banks in Metropolis, the award for such displayed inside the building. Many a customer came and went from this fine establishment, assured that their money was in good hands. The peaceful atmosphere certainly helped with this notion. Said peace was ultimately shattered by the sound of gunshots.
"EVERYONE ON THE GROUND!" roared a masked man. He fired his weapon at a customer, hitting him in the arm. "NOW!" The customers soon were laying on the ground, scared for their lives as armed men walked over them. The woman at one of the booths was about to press a button under her desk, only to have the barrel of a pistol aimed right at her head.
"I wouldn't do that doll." Warned a man in a skull mask and heavy swat armor. "Press that button and everyone dies. We didn't wait for Superman to be busy only for the cops to spoil everything. Now, you're gonna give us access to the vault. The longer it takes, the more of your customers go down."
The woman began to comply, no one noticing as a grunt in the back was pulled out of the building by a wire. As she moved to open the door, a strong gust of wind blew into the building. A gunman had to cover his eyes as some dust got in them. Upon removing his hands from his face he saw something frightening.
"Boss!" cried the man. "Hostages are gone!" The man in the skull mask turned back towards his men, noticing that the floor was void of people. He felt that same strong gust as he turned back towards the teller, only to find that she was gone too. He powered on some hydraulic gauntlets as he watched a goon get zapped by a thrown object.
"Eyes up! We've got bogies!" The shocked man fell over, a strange boomerang lodged in his jacket. One of the goons was about to check on him when a red and blue blur crashed into him, sending him flying into one of his companions. The figure came to a stop, floating midair.
They did not expect to see a young man with black hair and blue eyes. He wore a blue and red full body suit complete with red gloves and red boots, a black leather jacket, and a blue mask that covered his mouth and his ears. What startled them was the symbol of Superman that emblazoned the chest of his suit. This was the newest Superboy, specifically the son of Superman. He cracked his neck as he sent them an eye smile.
"I've heard of hating lines at the bank but this is ridiculous guys." Joked the boy. "How about we all just lay our weapons down huh?" The leader of the villains growled as he began to walk forward.
"And here I thought we were dealing with the Avengers or something. Turns out it's just Superman's brat. Where's your little friend?" He didn't notice a figure slowly lower behind him. The individual touched down on the ground, a wire whirring back into place as he pulled out more of the strange boomerangs.
"Right here." Stated a young voice. The man turned around, only to step back as a sword was slashed at him. One of the boomerangs stabbed into his suit, beeping rapidly. It unleashed a small explosion, sending its target flying out of the building. The last standing goon looked to his boss's attacker.
The perpetrator was also a young man, sporting black hair and a black domino mask that concealed his eyes. He wore a crimson cloth brigandine with black rivets, a black long-sleeved shirt, dark grey shoulder plates, dark grey armored gauntlets, a hooded cape that was black on the outside and yellow on the inside, a yellow utility belt with large pockets, black pants, and grey heavy duty boots. A big yellow R adorned the top left side of his brigandine. This was the newest and current Robin, the rumored son of Batman. A sword was sheathed in a black scabbard upon his back.
The villain growled as he found himself between two super kids. "Brock Rumlow, aka Crossbones. Former SHIELD agent turned terrorist after Captain Steve Rogers' attack on your Hydra crew. Did you really think you could get away with robbing the Metropolis Bank while Superman was away?" The now identified Crossbones growled as his gauntlets whirred with power.
"I'm about to, and I'm not gonna let some super brats stop me!" Rumlow punched at Robin with hydraulic gauntlets, but the boy quickly leapt back in a flip. He landed just as he pulled more of the birdarangs out of his utility belt. He threw them at the criminal, wedging some of them in his armor. All of the projectiles set off small explosions, damaging the man's armor.
Superboy quickly came in from behind, kicking Crossbones into a nearby kiosk. The villain tried to get a strong hit in with his gauntlets, but the half-Kryptonian grabbed the attack with both hands. He tossed the villain overhead, breaking off his gauntlets in the process. Robin tried to tazze their opponent with small disks, but he showed resilience as he turned to the boy. "I don't work like that anymore!"
Rumlow tried to kick the boy, only to be grabbed from behind by Superboy. Robin got up in his face, removing his mask. The villain looked incredibly burned on one side of his face, his anger clearly visible. Robin quickly sprayed a green mist in the man's face as he let out a rage filled roar. Soon the effects of the mist began to take effect, sending Crossbones into a deep slumber.
"Alright!" cried Superboy. "That's another successful mission! Now all we've gotta do is tie these guys up for the police to take care of. Nice work Robin." The newest Boy Wonder scoffed as he shook his head.
"It was obviously going to go well." Answered the brat. "They weren't equipped to fight Superman or any member of the league. Rumlow may have had a chance against certain league members, but we have the statistical advantage. But yes… it was good work." Superboy rolled his eyes with a smile.
Fairly soon the police arrived to detain the criminals caught by the boys. They answered a few questions before taking off to the nearby rooftops. They traveled along the buildings before touching down in a nearby park. Superboy chuckled as he pulled off his face mask. His grin was clearly visible as he walked backwards.
"I'm telling you Robin, we're on a roll! Nothing can stop the Super Sons!" Robin groaned under his breath as he rubbed his temples.
"Superboy, I already told you we are not calling ourselves that. It feels off." Superboy gasped as he held a hand to his chest, mocking pain. Neither of them seemed to notice as a man in a trench coat began to follow them. He weaved through the crowd, only to find that they'd disappeared. He growled as he clenched his fist, the sound of lightly scraping metal resounding from it.
The boys had moved faster as the crowds began to pop up, not wanting attention at the moment. Once they were outside the park they slowed their pace again. Superboy decided to continue the conversation with a small frown.
"I'm telling you it's a good team name. It's just the two of us and we're both sons of the planet's two greatest heroes. There's not many kids our age that are heroes around right now." Robin rolled his eyes with a sigh. There was no talking his partner out of something when he set his mind to it.
He felt a change in the air, quickly glancing behind him, his eyes widened as he saw a car flying straight towards them. "Maybe we should get some lunch early or…" Robin suddenly tackled Superboy to the ground.
"Look out!" The car soared past them, bouncing off the ground as it flipped to a stop. The boys quickly rose to their feet as the man from earlier landed before them, making a small crater. His trench coat flew into the wind, revealing his metallic body. He appeared to be a humanoid machine of some kind with glowing green eyes and a glowing green core in his chest.
"You brats sure are hard to find." Growled the machine. "I didn't wait for Superman to be busy just so his brat could disappear on me." Superboy growled as he recognized the man, snapping his facemask back on.
"Metallo." Growled the boy. "Looks like Luthor built you a new body. You should have shown up sooner. I've trained with Robin and his team, picking up a few tricks." He punched the machine a few times before sending him flying with a roundhouse kick.
Metallo growled as he found himself scraping his feet across the ground, soon coming to a halt. Superboy grinned as he crossed his arms. "I'm not an easy target to take down. With Robin at my side you have no shot at killing me." Metallo chuckled as he pounded his palm with his fist.
"Good. I don't want to kill you, actually. I just want you to scream as I take you back to Lex. Supes will come looking for you, and that'll be his end." He didn't notice Robin slowly moving his hands towards his utility belt as he stepped forward. "Now… scream for me runt!"
"Not today." Growled the Boy Wonder. He threw a few birdarangs from his belt, the center blinking blue. Metallo picked up a bench as he ran, using it to block the projectiles. He quickly threw it away as the weapons shocked the metal seat. He tried to throw a punch at the bird-themed sidekick, only for Superboy to catch the attack.
Robin leapt back as his friend uppercut Metallo in the chin, sending him into the air slightly. Superboy dropped his jacket in order to have some breathing room as he sent a few punches and kicks into the machine. He followed his opponent as he hovered across the ground, eventually grabbing onto his foot before slamming him into the ground. He leapt back just in time in order to dodge a set of laser beams.
"Laser eyes?" questioned the Kryptonian hybrid. "Dad told me about the time you had those. Guess Lex decided to go for the classics this time." Metallo chuckled as his eyes glowed once again.
"You don't know the half of it, brat." Growled the villain. He punched Superboy when he least expected it, sending him flying backwards. Meanwhile, the girl from before was seen walking down an alleyway towards a crowded street. She figured she'd see the city park as it had some great trees to sleep in. She was about to turn a corner when Superboy crashed into the wall beside her.
"Whoa!" cried the girl. As the dust settled Superboy sat up, rubbing his head in annoyance. "Hey! Are you alright?" The boy was about to answer, only to freeze as his eyes met hers.
His heartbeat grew faster as his vision of her became surrounded in hearts. He was brought out of his imagination as the girl waved a hand in his face. "Earth to Superboy. Are you alright?" Superboy quickly hopped up as he cracked his knuckles.
"Y…yeah." Answered the super kid. "I'm good. Just stay away from the park for now. Metallo is causing trouble and… ROBIN!" He suddenly took off in a burst of speed, causing the girl to huff.
"Yeah right. Like I'm not going to watch a superhero fight." The street kid quickly rushed towards the park, running faster than what her frame would suggest. Back at the park, Robin quickly popped a pill in his mouth. He swallowed it just as Metallo turned towards him.
"Don't think I've forgotten you bat-brat." Sneered the metal man. "I have no qualms about putting you in the dirt so that Superman has no backup." Robin growled as he held up his hands in preparation.
"I'm full of surprises." Began the boy. "You won't be taking Superboy anywhere." Metallo growled as he reared a fist back.
"You think you can stop me? You're just a powerless brat!" He punched at Robin, but the boy caught the attack with surprising strength. "What the…" Robin smirked for the first time today as he held the machine's fist in place.
"How's this for powerless?" He slugged Metallo in the face, sending the villain flying backwards. He jumped forward, performing a flying kick as he approached his opponent. Metallo just landed in time to catch the attack, but it did send him skidding back. The Boy Wonder flipped before landing in a fighting stance, just in time to see his opponent brace himself.
"How the heck did you get this strong!? You're not a meta!" Robin kept his scowl as he glared down his opponent.
"I don't have to tell you anything. If anything, I've been distracting you." Metallo sounded his confusion at this, only to be sent flying forward as Superboy punched him from behind. The boy quickly grabbed the villain by his foot before he could go flying too far, quickly slamming him into the ground behind him. He was about to go in for a punch when Metallo flipped over, opening the glass of his core.
Suddenly Superboy felt a wave of weakness flood over him, causing him to fall to the ground. "Superboy!" Metallo chuckled as he stood up, the stone in his core glowing radioactive green. It was a glow that was known very well, even outside of Metropolis. Superboy growled as he tried to push himself up.
"K…kryptonite." Groaned the boy. Of course Luthor would use Kryptonite to power Metallo. Said machine stood before the boy, his eyes glowing in power.
"You ruined my little surprise brat." Scolded the villain. "Still, you've grown into a real nuisance to make me bring this out." Robin tried to get the drop on him, but he caught him by the throat midair. "That's not gonna work a second time." He squeezed at the boy's throat, causing him to choke a bit.
Nearby, the girl from before was watching the scene play out. Even she could tell that Metallo wasn't playing fair using kryptonite in this scenario. If someone didn't do something, there's no telling what the metal man would do. Her eyes glowed green as a smirk appeared on her face. It was ghost time.
Metallo reared his leg back, preparing to kick Superboy. "Nighty night, Super-brat!" Before he could hit the boy, however, he was struck in the back by a ghastly green energy. He sounded his surprise as he flew forward, dropping Robin in his flight. He rolled across the ground a bit before scrapping across the ground on his knee.
"And I thought Skulker played dirty." Said a new voice. Superboy looked up, recognizing it as the girl from earlier. What he saw looked drastically different than the pretty street girl. She had glowing white hair and glowing green eyes. Her outfit consisted of a black hairband that held her hair back in a ponytail, a half-black-half-white shirt that showed her midriff, a white glove on her left hand, a black glove on her right hand, black baggy pants with streaks of white down the sides, and white boots.
This was Danielle Fenton, the supposed Phantom fan from Garfield's picture. Of course Superboy was clueless of this, lost in his imagination again as he tried to stave off the kryptonite's effects. The girl lowered herself a bit as she looked at the boy. "I'd sit this one out, Superboy. Let me show you how we do things halfa style."
Superboy just nodded mindlessly, barely registering the halfa comment. Danielle winked at him with a grin, causing him to blush a bit. He was thankful that the mask currently hid this fact as he watched her fly forward, turning to a sitting position to watch the show. The ghost girl came to a stop as Metallo stood up, a confident look on her face. The machine growled as he clenched his fists, closing his core for protective purposes.
"Just how many super-brats are there in this city?" groaned the villain. "Who the heck are you supposed to be? The new Wondergirl?" Danielle rolled her eyes in response, feeling her inner Danny seep through.
"Pfft, I wish. Name's Geist. And you're Metallo: Metropolis's very own angry toaster. Do everyone a favor and just give up before you embarrass yourself." The villain growled as his eyes glowed.
"Shut up you cheeky brat!" He fired eye beams at her, but she went intangible as they sailed right through her. Superboy's eyes widened as he could barely make her out in the air. Robin quickly sat up, looking more winded than he ought to be. His eyes narrowed as the self-proclaimed Geist returned to normal after moving to the side a bit.
"That was your one freebie. My turn." Ellie thrusted her hand forward, firing an ecto-blast at her opponent. Metallo crossed his arms to block the attack, skidding backwards as the beam collided with him. For some reason he seemed to be showing signs of concern in his mannerisms as he leapt backwards to avoid a second blast.
"Watch how you fight." Advised Robin. "He may look like he's all machine but he has a human brain in there." Geist looked back at him, a deadpan expression on her face.
"Uh, no duh! Even I know this guy's sob story. It's called looking it up on the internet." Danielle quickly leaned backwards a bit as she avoided Metallo's laser eyes. "I'm trying to have a conversation here!"
Metallo leapt forward with the intent of punching the girl, but she quickly flew behind him. Her fists glowed in ghostly energy as she brought it down on the big guy, sending him crashing into the ground. Her opponent turned to fire a laser blast at her, surprising her this time as it hit her in the stomach. She was hurtled upwards a bit, but she split in half with a ghostly trail between the two as the lasers continued onwards. "Okay now that's it!"
Metallo stared in shock as the girl pulled herself back together. She flew downwards at high speeds, hitting him square in the side of his robotic head. She picked him up by his head, spinning him around a few times before letting go. He crashed into the ground as she floated above him. He quickly opened up his core as she came to a stop in front of him, hoping to catch her off guard.
"Ha! How do you like kryptonite, brat!?" Danielle sent him a deadpanned look, pointing a finger gun at him as she charged an ecto-blast at the tip.
"I mean it looks pretty. I'm a ghost, not a Kryptonian." Metallo's eyes glowed brighter in shock as the girl fired the attack at his core. The kryptonite broke into pieces, his body beginning to shut down. His body slumped to the ground, his eyes now looking dimmer as his head's individual power source remained active.
"Aww nuts." Danielle smiled as she lowered to the ground. She quickly gathered enough of the kryptonite in a plastic bag as the boys began to stand up. Robin had his hand near his utility belt, ready for anything. He approached the girl as she turned to him.
"Hold it there bird-breath. Can we not do the whole 'hero fight' thing and just get this somewhere safe." She held the bag with kryptonite out to him, making sure it wasn't too close to Superboy. "Please tell me you have a lead pouch or something." Robin glared at her as he took the bag from her.
"Who do you think trained me?" asked the Boy Wonder. He opened the lead pouch he indeed had and deposited the Kryptonite inside it. As soon as he closed the pouch, Superboy ran over to meet the new girl.
"That was awesome!" cried Superboy. "You flew circles around him and freaking split in half! That was incredible!" Geist couldn't help but blush green at the praise she was receiving. This was her first solo act as a hero and she hadn't been complimented by someone her age before, much less a boy.
"Well, it's nice to officially meet you, Superboy. As I said, you can call me Geist." Superboy raised a brown in confusion as he crossed his arms.
"We met a few minutes earlier. You're that girl that was there when I crashed into the building." Danielle jerked as a frightened look appeared on her face. She did not expect him to pick out her identity so soon. She chuckled awkwardly as she held her hands up in denial.
"H…hold on now. You must be mistaken. This is the first time we're meeting." She looked to Robin, the boy clearly not buying the lie as his glare returned. Superboy shook his head in denial with a smile.
"Your voice is exactly the same. Super hearing comes in handy during moments like this. Not to mention we're used to heroes undergoing drastic changes when they use their powers." Danielle tried to find a way to deny the evidence, only to slump in defeat. Soon police sirens were heard in the distance, causing the girl to straighten up.
"Not here. Please?" Superboy frowned as he saw the sad look on her face, instantly not liking it for some reason. He nodded his head before gesturing to a nearby rooftop. He picked up Robin and his jacket as he and Geist flew off from the scene.
Danielle grew nervous the closer they got to the building. She really did not expect to be found out by anyone in this city. She actually would have expected Robin to point her out before the son of Superman ever did. She was so never living this down if Danny found out. The group soon reached the building, Superboy setting Robin down before landing himself.
"There we go." Began Superboy. "No awkward conversations with the police and your secret identity will be safe. So… how did you get your powers?" Robin glared at his partner, a slight growl rumbling in his throat. He bopped him lightly on the back of the head before stepping forward.
"I think the better question to start with would be who are you?" asked the Boy Wonder. "You defeated Metallo as if he were a second rate villain. Forgive me for being wary, but that's a big deal." Danielle harrumphed, not liking how the boy was interrogating her. Superboy glared at Robin, the Boy Wonder's expression being unreadable.
"Let her talk in her own time Robin. She's getting there, and we kind of sprang this on her only minutes after meeting her." Robin still made no change in expression in response to his partner's scolding, though it did put a smile on Danielle's face.
"Thanks for sticking up for me, Supes." Expressed the ghost girl. Finally gathering her nerves, she allowed the white rings to form around her. To Superboy it was like a scene from a movie as he watched the rings scan over her, returning her to her normal form. As her eyes were closed, Robin pressed on the side of his mask. As she opened her eyes, he was shocked to find that whatever system he was using turned up blank.
She took another deep breath as she thought over her explanation a few times. "I'm Ellie, Ellie Fenton. As to how I got my powers, it's a pretty long story. To make it short, I'm a halfa: half dead, half alive." Superboy quickly waved his hands, shock present in his eyes.
"Hold on there! How can someone be half ghost? That's kind of hurting my head trying to think about it." Robin's eyes narrowed, the boy also having doubts about her claim. Ellie held up her hands in defense.
"Don't ask me. I'm not the one who came up with the term. There are only three in existence, one I'm not on good terms with and for good reason too. Let's just say he's a crazy fruit loop with an obsession with a married woman and her son." Even Robin had to wince at that explanation.
"Let's get back on track." Interrupted the son of Batman. "You don't show up in any citizenship search in the US. Only a partial match to one Daniel Fenton. Care to explain why you don't legally exist?" Ellie quickly began to panic as she tried to come up with an excuse.
"The… anti-ecto laws! They consider me dead so I was never given a citizenship, which is kind of a bummer when you want to live a normal life." She could tell that she was pushing the boundaries of her luck as Robin continued to glare at her. He pressed at the side of his mask again, muttering something under his breath. Soon he stopped as he shook his head.
"No such laws are turning up in the database. If such a law were put in place the Bat-computer would have documented it. Want to try again?" Ellie couldn't help the look of confusion on her face. He couldn't be serious.
"You're… joking right? The anti-ecto laws were put in place a few years ago. The GIW, a Ghost hunting branch of the government, operates on their principals." The Super Sons looked at each other, Superboy showing obvious confusion. They turned back to her with the son of Superman shrugging.
"I mean, I heard some crazy government group was trying to get rid of anything supernatural and extraterrestrial." Admitted the boy in blue. "Dad had to deal with them coming after him for being an alien before. The people of Metropolis practically ran them out themselves with media coverage and blocking their way. The Justice League would have been on top of the President and Congress if something like that was passed as some heroes are spiritual in nature." Robin stepped forward as he decided to recover the conversation.
"Either way, you would have been registered the moment you were born. An unknown law does not answer anything." Ellie felt her heart beating anxiously as she tried to think of some answer. Superboy quickly picked up on this due to his super hearing. He quickly placed his hands on her shoulders as he noticed it was beating dangerously fast.
"Calm down Ellie!" cried the son of Superman. "Breathe." Ellie looked into his eyes as he continued to soothe her, causing her to take a few deep breaths. "That's it. Just stay calm."
The ghost girl finally calmed down enough to breathe normally, causing Superboy to sigh in relief. He looked to Robin with a glare. "Maybe tone it down on the aggression D. It's obviously a hard subject for her." Robin frowned at the near identification of himself, so he brought out a communicator.
"Maybe getting in contact with the Fenton family will yield better results. I can call Batman and have him give them a call and…" Ellie began to panic once again as the boy looked ready to type the message. She couldn't let Vlad know where she was, nor could she risk Danny being found out. Thankfully Superboy was on Robin like lightning, folding hid hands over the screen of the communicator.
"Didn't your time with the Titans teach you anything about trusting others? How would you like it if someone found out your identity and tried to leak it to someone you cared about? Someone who wasn't in the know?" Robin paused as he and Superboy glared each other down. Ellie felt a little awkward, at least until Robin sighed and put the device away.
"Keep your emotions in check Kent." Whispered Robin. "Getting emotionally involved could jeopardize your identity. You nearly ousted mine over a foolish crush." Superboy blushed at the mention of his feelings placing a finger up to the other boy's lips in order to silence him. Gosh he was glad he had super hearing, otherwise Ellie would have heard that embarrassing bit of information.
"Not so loud! This is my first crush and it's a superhero girl! Please just give me this!" Robin couldn't help but roll his eyes as a small smirk creeped up. Ellie couldn't help but chuckle at the boys' bickering.
"Look, if it wasn't for things I'm not comfortable with telling people I just met, I'd be with the Fenton family right now. There's just other people's secret identities, the fact that Mr. and Mrs. Fenton hate ghosts, and my traumatizing past that get in the way. I just don't want to be found by the one halfa that hates me, so I don't want to say too much right now. You either earn my trust or you find out on your own, which I'm sure you guys are familiar with." Superboy was the only one to respond as he chuckled with a nod of his head.
"Yeah. Dad never told me he was Superman until my powers started showing up. It's hard to keep a secret like this from people you care about. Of course, Robin was born into this heroic world so he doesn't really have the same issues as you and me." Robin sent another glare at Superboy, though this was met with the sound of raspberries. The sound of a growling stomach filled the air, the boys looking towards Ellie as she sounded her embarrassment.
"I may have forgotten to eat before I met you guys. All I had was a hotdog and living on the streets doesn't exactly scream 'pockets full of money.'" The boys quickly looked at each other, a mental conversation going on between them. Robin was adamant that what Jon was thinking was a bad idea, but even he couldn't deny that Ellie's situation meant the press was a no-go. All it took after this was Superboy sending him the pouty eyes to make him cave in.
"Fine." Groaned the Boy Wonder. "I know a place where we can eat, but you are going to wait for us to change AND disguise ourselves so you don't recognize our identities. Once we get down of course. Understood?" Ellie nodded in response, but Superboy chuckled in response.
"You can be disguised all you want." Argued the son of Superman. "It's not fair that Ellie is the only one that tells us her identity, seeing as I kind of put her on the spot." Robin growled at the response but knew it would be better than to indulge his partner in his childishness. It was like dealing with Nightwing, only Superboy had the excuse of being an actual child. The group quickly landed behind a mall, the destination Robin was talking about.
Ellie stood with her back to a podium as she waited for the boys. They had flown off to an unknown location, leaving her there alone. Were they staying in the same place or something? Her thoughts were cut off as a large gust blew at her side. "We're back Ellie!"
Ellie turned to poke fun at the boys for leaving her alone at the mall, only for her voice to hitch in her throat. It was obvious who was who was who as the boys walked over to her. Robin was obviously the boy wearing a red hoodie, a black t-shirt, gray sunglasses, blue jeans, and brown loafers. She could even tell by his brows that he was giving her the same glare, as if daring her to try and figure out who he is.
Her main focus, however, was on Superboy. She couldn't help but pay attention to the baby-faced look he had without the mask. He wore a light-gray long sleeved shirt with his family's logo, blue jeans, and red sneakers. Much like he did for her, she seemed to imagine a few hearts form around the boy as he sent her a childish grin. "Ready for the best shakes in Metropolis!?"
"Sure." Said Ellie. She smiled as she stood up from her leaning position. "Lead the way… uh what should I call you in public? Don't want Grumpy over there on my case all day for calling you Supes." Robin glared at the girl from behind his sunglasses, Superboy chuckling at the nickname for his friend.
"Well, I'm Jon. With who my Dad is I can't exactly give you my last name." He then gestured back at Robin with his thumb. "As for Robin, just call him D in public. It's the only name he'll let me call him when we're undercover."
Robin tsked at the jab at his methods. Ellie just shrugged as she walked side by side with Jon, her hands held behind her back. As they walked through the mall she made small talk with the son of Superman. She couldn't help but smile as he talked about all the things to see in Metropolis. Meanwhile Robin just stuck to the back, sometimes clearing his throat to stop Jon from saying too much, at least that's what she thought he was doing as Jon would try to move past something he was explaining.
They got halfway through the mall as the half-Kryptonian decided to move to funny stories. "So these two guys wanted to take over Dad's date with Mom. He decided to settle it with an arm wrestling match. These guys were some of the strongest where they were from." Ellie smirked as she got an idea of what would happen next.
"Judging by who your dad is, that didn't go over very well. I can just see them buckling under the pressure. Bet that match nearly broke the table." Jon chuckled as he nodded.
"I wasn't born yet so I couldn't tell you for definite. What I do know is that they left disappointed and Dad took Mom home." The young Kent looked ready to continue their conversation, only for D to tap his shoulder.
"We're here." Announced the mysterious Robin. Ellie looked away from Jon to take in the air of the restaurant. It looked to have a similar aesthetic to a barber-shop, only they had root beer floats and burgers visualized on their windows. It looked like it wasn't very busy at the moment as there were a few open tables scattered around the restaurant. Jon grinned as he held a hand on the door handle.
"Ellie, welcome to the greatest teen hangout in Metropolis: The Barber's Burger." The group went inside as Jon held the door open for his crush. He also held it open for Robin, though he was quick to follow behind. "It used to be a barbershop, but when that went out of business the owner's son decided to take up a business venture. You can tell that he made a good call as this is actually a slow day for them."
Ellie had to agree that it looked rather successful. The mirrors on the wall looked newly replaced, some little kids enjoying making faces in them. She walked next to Jon as they approached the line. Said boy unconsciously found himself stealing glances at the ghost girl. She would sometimes look his way, causing him to look away with a slight blush.
Robin couldn't help but roll his eyes as he shook his head. Even a child could tell that these two were being awkward about this whole thing. Still, there weren't many kids their age with shared life experiences. If Jon was determined to have a relationship with this new girl, without even background checking her, then the Boy Wonder was going to have to set him on the right path. Knowing that his brothers would never let him live it down for playing wingman, he looked around before taking a deep breath.
"Ask her what she likes." Whispered the Boy Wonder. Jon glanced back at Robin, looking confused by the statement. "You want to be with her, then start showing an interest in her as a person. Tell anyone I'm helping you and you can forget about the 'Super Sons' ever working together again." Jon winked back at the boy with a silent thank you before turning his attention to Ellie.
"S…so Ellie?" The girl turned her attention to him, causing his nerves to grow a bit more. "Um… what kind of stuff are you into? I'm not looking for anything personal just…" Ellie couldn't help but giggle as she nodded her head.
"You're good." Reassured the young Fenton. "I get what you're saying. I guess an obvious thing is that I like traveling. I've been all over the US, and even went to Canada once. When there's nothing you have to do there's a lot to see." Jon hummed as he nodded his head.
"Sounds cool. Outside of Metropolis I've been to Gotham and Jump City. I usually try to pick up the slack when Dad's busy and Kon, my brother, is out with 'his friends.'" He did his best not to say who his brother's friends were due to being in a public setting. Thankfully Ellie seemed to get it, being a superkid herself.
Jon hummed as he filed that idea away for later. He rubbed his arm as he found that talking with her seemed to calm his prior nerves. "So… what else?" Ellie hummed as she tried to think of something. She snapped her fingers as she got an idea.
"I like learning new languages." This got Robin's attention as he looked at the ghost girl. "A lot of places I went to didn't have English as a native language. I like to take time at the library to make sure I know any language I come across." Jon's eyes lit up as he looked her in the eye.
"Really? What languages do you know?" Ellie counted the fingers on her hand as she tried to think of the languages she knew.
"English (obviously), Spanish, German, Danish (which was fun), French, and I'm currently working on Japanese." Robin hummed at the list, intrigued by it. He decided to put her claim to the test.
"Vous savez donc Français? Répétez la liste en Français." Interrupted the Boy Wonder in French. (1) Jon looked back at him, confused by what he said. Ellie just chuckled as she didn't even look back.
"Anglais (bien sûr), Espagnol, Allemand, Danois (ce qui était amusant), Français et je travaille actuellement sur le Japonais. Êtes-vous satisfait, M. Grumpy Pants?" (2) Robin tsked as he looked away, Jon realizing that his friend just got schooled. Soon the trio reached the cash register, the son of Superman suddenly cursing his luck. The cashier was one of his mother's friends, and she quickly recognized him and Robin.
"Hey there boys!" greeted the woman. "I wasn't expecting you to show up 'til later." The cashier quickly noticed Ellie as she took a closer look. "And who are you young lady?" The ghost girl sounded her nervousness as she rubbed her arm.
"I…I'm Ellie. I recently arrived in town and ran into the guys. They said this was the best place to get shakes in town so I decided to test that claim." The woman hummed as she looked over Ellie once again. She let it slide as she looked to the whole group.
"Well then, guess I'll have to tell Gus to put his A game on. What will it be, kids?" Ellie looked unsure, but Jon smirked as he stepped forwards.
"Thanks Ms. Clarice." Thanked the boy. "I'll take a garlic burger with a medium waffle fry and a chocolate shake. D?" Robin sighed as he looked over the menu. He shrugged as he remained where he was.
"A Caesar-salad with a diet cola." Answered the boy. "I'm not particularly hungry right now." Clarise nodded as she punched in the order so far. She smiled as she looked towards Ellie, patiently awaiting the girl's choice. She was about to say something with a frown when Jon placed a hand on her shoulder.
"Just get what you want Ellie." Reassured the son of Superman. "I'll pay for it." The ghost girl looked at him in shock.
"I… I don't wanna take advantage of you Jon." Denied Ellie. "I can just get something cheap and simple." The boy decided not to take no for an answer as he grinned.
"Don't worry about it! I have a good bit of allowance setup. It's my treat." Robin smirked at the two, Ms. Clarice having a similar look on her face. Ellie blushed a bit as she poked her fingers together.
"In that case, I'll just have what he's having. I can't really decide otherwise." The cashier nodded as she put in Jon's order again.
"In that case, it'll be $23.76." counted Clarice. Damian forked over his amount, as well as a bit of Jon's, while the son of Superman retrieved the rest from his own pocket. "Here's a cup for you, Damian." Robin jerked ever so slightly at his name being dropped, but he regained his composure as he retrieved the cup. He could feel that Ellie was subtly teasing him about hearing his name, but he did his best not to respond.
Clarice quickly scrounged up two small cups and a small triangle with the number 3 on it. "Here is your order number and two free small cups for our shake drinkers. Your order should be ready soon." Jon pumped his fist in excitement as he and Ellie retrieved the items. He passed the number off to Damian before unconsciously taking his crush by the hand.
"Come on Ellie!" urged the young Kent. "Let's find a good seat!" The ghost girl blushed as she was pulled along by the boy, leaving Damian and Clarice behind. The woman quickly took a picture of the two with a knowing smirk on her face. Damian decided to leave her be as he went to get his drink.
"Kent can deal with this on his own." Sighed the son of Batman. Clarice let another employee take over the register as she went on break. She quickly looked through her numbers, finding the right one. She began typing faster than one would expect.
Clarice: OMG! Lois, pick up the phone now! This is big!
Lois: You better have a good explanation Clarice. I'm looking into the Metallo incident from earlier. This has Lexcorp stench all over it.
Clarice sighed as she shook her head. Of course Lois would immediately be on the scene for a fight like that. She resumed typing with a grin on her face.
Clarice: Well I would hope Jon being with a girl would be big enough news for you. Guess I was wrong.
Lois?
Lois: Give me the details. Now.
Clarice chuckled as she sat down with her lunch. She had a feeling this would be good. She sent over the image she took before typing out a message.
Clarice: Her name is Ellie, at least that's what she tells me. She recently came into town but I can't tell whether she's a homeless kid or not. Damian was with them but the way Jon was asking her about herself and stealing glances in line, it was like he was never even there. Jon had her get whatever she wanted and offered to pay. Then this happened.
Lois: She's definitely homeless in some capacity, but my journalist senses tell me she's a good kid. She's quite a cutie too. Looks like I'm going to have to talk with Jon about this girl.
Clarice: I figured you'd say that. I'm just so excited that the little guy has his first crush! I think she likes him too!
Lois: She better. Otherwise she'll be hearing it from me if he comes home heartbroken one day. Gotta go. Lexcorp security just pulled up and are scanning the area. With how hard they're looking, I'm thinking kryptonite is involved.
Clarice: Ouch. Be safe!
Lois: Since when am I not?
Actually, don't answer that.
Clarice chuckled as she concluded the message. Would she get the stink eye for telling Lois about Jon's crush the next time he came to the shop? Most definitely. Would she regret it at all? Not by a longshot.
John found himself laughing as Ellie told him about what she did to get her hotdog. While he wasn't fond of the idea of her stealing food, the big guy surely did deserve it. Plus it was funny to imagine a guy looking crazy over a missing hotdog when he still had the other in his hand. He could hear the whispers of elderly couples mentioning how he and Ellie looked to be a cute young couple. While it did make him blush at first, he eventually just tuned them out.
Pretty soon Damian came up with his drink and the order number. He looked rather cross with Jon, the reason being rather obvious. Ellie smirked teasingly as she looked to the Boy Wonder.
"Took you long enough, Damian." Teased the ghost girl. "Did they run out of the drink you wanted, Damian." Jon couldn't help but chuckle as the son of Batman glared daggers at the ghost girl. She just blew raspberries in response, making the son of Superman laugh even harder. Damian groaned as he sat at the table, taking off his sunglasses to reveal his blue eyes.
"I blame you for this Jon." Growled the Gothamite. "If you would have held out a little longer Clarise would have been on break." Ellie chuckled as she leaned back in her chair.
"Well if it makes you feel better I have no idea who you are aside from your name. I don't pay attention to anyone famous due to being on the road, unless you're the son of one of my favorite bands." Damian thought over this bit of information, choosing to say nothing. "Well I'm gonna get a Sprite or something. Be right back."
"Okay!" replied Jon. Ellie got up from the table, walking towards the fountain drinks with a pep in her step. The son of Superman sighed as he leaned forward, resting his head in his hands.
"Grow up Kent." Advised Damian. "You're starting to drool." Jon yiped as he sat up, quickly wiping at his face with a napkin. He quickly realized there was no drool, turning to see his friend smirking as he took a sip. The half-Kryptonian frowned as he clenched his fist.
"Very funny. Give me a break alright? I really, really like her. I'm not exactly the most popular kid in school, you know." Damian sighed as he rolled his eyes.
"Confidence would do you good, Jon. I'm still wary of trusting her when we barely know a thing about her." Jon smirked as he sat up.
"Well we barely knew anything about each other. Over time we learned to trust each other and now look at us. The coolest guys in Gotham and in Metropolis. Just give her a chance and she'll surprise you." Damian hummed as he looked down, actually considering the boy's words.
"Hope you aren't picky about your sodas." Interrupted Ellie. The boys looked up as she walked over with a cup of orange soda in her hand. "The Sprite's out so I had to settle with mixing it with orange soda. I don't know how much of that is left either." Jon stood up as he stretched a bit.
"No problem. I'll just get a cola. Be right back D." Jon ran over to the soda fountain, leaving the two spooky kids alone. Damian looked Ellie's way with a frown, the girl sending him one of her own.
"Oh don't give me that look. I know you still don't trust me, seeing as I had to learn your name from the cashier. I know you bat-clan guys, a term I heard from a Batman fan, don't like new people but I'm not leaving because you're getting twitchy." Damian sent a soft glare the girl's way, though it was more in contemplation than in threat. Truth be told he kind of respected how she stood her ground, even if he didn't like it.
"You're an unknown, half-dead metahuman who has no official records." Listed Damian as quietly as he could. "Forgive me if I look out for the safety of my family and Jon. I don't know where you grew up, but in Gotham knowledge can be more dangerous than a loaded gun. If you don't have it when you need it, you're liable to wind up dead one way or another." Ellie sighed as she shook her head.
"I get that, but would it really be that bad to just give me some level of trust? I'm not asking for a lot. You have your secrets and I have mine. If anything from my past becomes important or could hurt you, I promise I'll tell you all I can." Damian leaned back in his chair as he took a sip of his drink.
"We'll see. One thing I will tell you, is that if you hurt Jon in any way I won't hesitate to put you away wherever or however I need to. You're not exactly the best at hiding your romantic interests." Ellie blushed as she looked away, not missing the smirk that formed on his face. Even if he was right, she did not have to dignify him with a response.
"I'm back!" cried Jon as he skidded to a halt. He returned to his seat just as Ellie regained her composure. "It shouldn't take too long for everything to be ready. When Gus is doing his best he gets it out only a few minutes later than usual, and only two of us ordered shakes. He should be done soon." The group was quiet for a moment, at least until Damian sighed.
"Don't everyone get up at once. I'll go wait for it." The Boy Wonder quickly got up from his seat, leaving the two superpowered kids alone. Jon hummed as he tried to think of something to say. He decided to double back as he leaned forward in his chair.
"So… what else are you into Ellie? I bet you've found all kinds of things while traveling so much." Ellie hummed as she leaned back in her seat. She tapped her fingers against the table as she tried to think of a particular subject. She suddenly heard a trombone in the song that was on the restaurant radio, her eyes closing tightly in joy.
"Ooh!" cheered the young Fenton. "Music is a definite. It mainly started as just a way for me to better get into the culture of a place, but after a while I just couldn't help falling in love with certain genres of music. Like the jazz that just started playing." Jon smirked as he sat up a bit.
"Cool! I like a bit of pop and some rock, though I've never been big on exploring other genres. I tried listening to rap for a potential friend but… I'm not really into it." Ellie chuckled as she shook her head.
"I don't hate it but it's not my favorite either. I'm mainly into cultural music, though I do have some favorites. Jazz, classic rock like Elvis, pop, a bit of metal, and some classical when I'm reading. I'm always open to trying new things though." Jon hummed in response, just happy to hear her talk about her interests.
Ellie suddenly hummed as she remembered something. "As you could probably tell I'm also big on culture. Every place is so different and unique. Even cities that are practically the same can have vastly different peoples and practices. I remember my first trip to New Orleans." Jon's eyes widened in response.
"New Orleans? Aren't they big on that voodoo stuff? That could be dangerous for… kids like us to come across." Ellie smirked, honestly happy to hear someone concerned for her. She chuckled as she leaned back.
"Eh! Met some lady named Zatanna there. She helped me keep out of anything too major. I'm not overly fond of working with evil spirits anyways." Jon sighed in relief, happy that a League member was in town when his crush was there.
Ellie hummed as she got an idea. "I've kind of been doing all the sharing. I honestly wanna know more about you. Outside of who your dad is of course." The son of Superman was both scared and excited by the statement. While he liked that she wanted to know him more, he couldn't think of what to say.
"Be cool!" whispered Damian. Jon glanced behind Ellie to see the waiting Gothamite. He was grateful for super-hearing and long range vision as he watched his friend mouth the statement again. He took a deep breath in order to calm himself as he tried to think. He smiled as something finally came to him.
"Well, I like soccer. It's pretty fun to watch and I love the team dynamics." Ellie hummed in interest.
"Cool." Replied the ghost girl. "I've never been too big on sports, though I do like a bit of baseball just to pass the time. Oh, but if the Packers football team is on, I'll always root for the other team." Jon sent the girl a raised brow in response. That sounded pretty specific.
"Why the Packers particularly? That sounds kinda targeted." Ellie blinked as if she misspoke, only to breathe as she thought of an answer.
"The halfa I'm not on good terms with is obsessed with the Packers. He loves that team to the point where, if he could, he'd buy the team." Jon chuckled awkwardly as he tugged at his shirt collar.
"Sorry. Didn't mean to bring up bad memories." His crush waved him off with a smile.
"No big. You didn't know." Their conversation was cut short as Damian returned with a tray carrying their orders. It was clear by his expression that Ellie's comment bothered him to some degree. He set it down with his salad facing him before he took his seat.
"A recurring problem in our conversations." Groaned the son of Batman. "I would eat quickly. Jon is expected home in about half an hour. His method of travel is fast, but even Superman can be late if he gets distracted." Jon gasped as he began to chow down on his food.
Ellie hummed as she looked at the burger, contemplating it. She shrugged as she took a small bite, only for her eyes to widen in awe. To the boys she looked like a puppy having its first taste of peanut butter. She closed her eyes to savor the flavor before continuing to eat at the meal. She then took a rather large slurp of her shake.
"Ohm my gsh!" She took a moment to get everything down, shivering in excitement. "This stuff is great! This is way better than food at the Nasty Burger in Amity Park!" Damian pointed his fork at her with a glare.
"One, don't talk with your mouth full. This is a restaurant, not a slop house. Two, I question the quality of food that comes from a place called 'the Nasty Burger.'" Ellie decided to stay on Damian's good side as she took time to chew her food. She swallowed before getting another slurp of her shake.
"When there aren't a lot of restaurants in the area you kinda have to make do. Danny took me there one time and while it's not the worst, it definitely doesn't compare to this." Jon hummed as he leaned forward.
"So that Danny guy knows about you?" asked the son of Superman. His crush froze, trying to determine how to handle the situation. The boys were definitely good people, so maybe she could open up a little bit more.
"He, his friends, and two other people that live there know I exist. They're some of the few people out there that I consider my friends, my family. If it wasn't for that fruitloop I have a grudge with, I'd probably be living in the town." The boys looked at each other, seeming to process this new information. The more Jon thought about Ellie's situation, the more he wanted to find this ghost guy that's been bothering her and give him a piece of his mind.
Realizing where the conversation might be going, Ellie let loose a sigh. "How about we talk about this later? Let me finish up, then we can head out." The boys only nodded as they returned to their meals. Hopefully nothing else crazy would happen today.
The police were still in the process of collecting Metallo for imprisonment, arguing with some Lexcorp associates who were trying to reclaim him. Without a power source for his main body all the villain could do was yell and curse about Superboy, Robin, and some unknown individual named Geist. He was too mad at his circumstances so no one could get close enough to conduct a proper interview. One particular reporter found herself focusing more on the area he was found than the villain himself. This reporter was Lois Lane Kent.
She had black hair, fair skin, and blue eyes. She wore a beige overcoat, a white dress shirt, a black leather belt, beige dress pants, black high-heels, a black purse, and a wedding ring with a diamond clearly present on it. She took pictures of the area with her camera before inspecting the place for evidence. More specifically, any Kryptonite she could send to a friend to keep away from Lex Luthor. She may not be able to fight the big battles but as the wife of one Kryptonian and the mother of two half-Kryptonians, she had to do her part somewhere.
Thinking back to a bit of news she heard, she couldn't help but smile at the thought of one child in particular. It was obvious to her this "Ellie" girl Jon and Damian were with was the Geist character Metallo was raging about. It kind of made her happy knowing that her son could find a girl that he didn't have to hide his powers from. Still, she couldn't help but worry about what the girl's situation was. She was brought out of her thinking as she heard footsteps nearby.
"Ms. Kent." Greeted a masculine voice. She turned to see that two of the Lexcorp associates walked up to her. "We're going to have to ask you to hand over anything you've found here. Metallo was in possession of stolen Lexcorp property and we've been sent to collect it." The woman did her best not to roll her eyes, not believing their excuse for a second.
"Well then you'll be happy to know that I haven't found anything." Reassured Lois. It really wasn't a lie. This Geist was thorough in confiscating Metallo's power source. "Your best bet would be to check with the police. Otherwise the heroes must have taken it." One of the men cracked his neck, a clear display of intimidation.
"Mr. Luthor won't take no for an answer. You're coming with us." Lois moved her hand closer to her purse as the man prepared to grab her. She suddenly smiled as she took a step back. This action confused the men, only for a whooshing sound to catch their attention.
"You can tell Luthor he'll be disappointed." Stated a masculine voice. The two goons jerked in fear, slowly turning to the owner of the voice. Floating before them was a man with black hair and blue eyes. He wore a blue leotard with red boots, a red cape, and a massive symbol shaped like an "S" on his chest. The men slowly stepped away from the man, shaking under his frown.
"W…we'll get right on that. H… have a good day. Ms. Kent, Superman." The two men ran back to their colleagues, ready to just call it quits. The Man of Steel touched down with a smile on his face.
"I know I had to cancel date night last night. That meteor turned out to be an invasion force. I'll make it up to you by giving you an exclusive and a gentle massage." Lois couldn't help but smile at her husband's offer. She shook her head as she rolled her eyes.
"If that's your offer, then I'll let it slide this time." Reassured the woman. "How about you get changed and we head home. I've got a scoop you'll be interested in hearing. Might not be alien invasion big, but it's something you'll be shocked to hear." Superman raised his brow in interest.
"What's so big that you think I would be shocked? I've seen a lot in my life. I'm pretty much shock proof at this point." Lois smirked knowingly. She knew without a doubt that her husband's jaw would drop.
"How about Jon liking a girl?"
Back at the mall, the kids decided to just hang out for a bit. Ellie wanted to get a feel for the boys to help her decide on how much to tell them. They went to an arcade where they played a few games, though the ghost girl dominated a lot of them. Damian was always best at the dancing games so there was no doubt Ellie would be no match there. As the time to part grew closer they decided to take a flight across town.
Seeing as they weren't expecting a fight this time, Jon carried Damian through the air in their civilian forms. There were concerns about being seen, but Ellie decided to show off one of her tricks. Apparently she could make others intangible, so they were currently flying through a few buildings as they approached their destination. Ellie would neither confirm nor deny that she just wanted to fly next to Jon the whole time. It allowed her to think about how much she was willing to share with the duo after spending time with them.
"We're here now." Stated Damian. "You can return us to normal so I do not fall half way through the roof." Ellie, quickly returning to reality, nodded as she made everyone tangible again. They touched down on the roof of a quaint little home, the type of building the ghost girl wouldn't mind living in. She returned back to normal as she held her hands together.
"Okay…" began the ghost girl. "I think I'm ready to say more. I'm still gathering my thoughts so give me a moment." Jon smiled as he nodded his head. He was just happy that she was talking at all.
"Take your time." Reassured the young Kent. "Just tell us what you're ready for us to know. We won't force you into anything." He took a quick glance at Damian, a hint of an attempted glare in his eyes. The son of Batman sent him a blank stare, making it unclear what his opinion was. Ellie sighed as she nodded her head.
"So… what if I told you there was another hero out there like me? Not like a doppelganger or twin, but a ghost that looks a lot like me. Looks so similar you'd mistake us for siblings or cousins. Maybe even father and daughter." Jon was a little slow on the processing, but Damian quickly turned his head like lightning.
"So you're saying you're a clone." Stated the newest Robin. Ellie looked down, letting the silence be the answer. Jon's eyes widened in shock, though this was soon followed by a smile.
"That's one of your big secrets? You're not the first clone I met. Heck, my brother is a clone of Dad." Damian quickly bopped Jon on the arm, but the son of Superman showed no reaction. Ellie looked at him in shock.
"Really?" asked the ghost girl. "So… I'm not the only clone in the world?" Jon quickly nodded his head in response.
"Yeah! It's not exactly common but I know some people." The young Kent suddenly frowned as a thought crossed his mind. "Wait… Is that why..."
"I'm not fond of one of the other halfas? Yeah. His name is Plasmius, also known as the Wisconsin Ghost. He made me to be a clone of the second halfa." Damian crossed his arms as he felt the pieces coming together.
"I looked up Amity Park on the flight. Judging by his presence and the similarities to you, I believe Phantom is the hero you are talking about. Looking through the citizen records, a match was made to one Daniel Fenton. Am I wrong?" Ellie frowned as she rubbed the back of her head, feeling ashamed of herself.
"Y… yeah. I really hoped you wouldn't look that far. I guess I said too much." Jon's eyes glowed brightly as he slowly looked towards Damian, though it looked like he had good control. The boy lifted his communicator, showing that it was powered off.
"I powered off the communicator the moment I realized how deep this goes." This act… genuinely surprised Jon as his eyes stopped glowing. "Don't be mistaken. I will be making a personal file of this, and father will be upset with me for not bringing this to his attention, but the bridge of trust has been laid. I would rather not be the one to burn it." Ellie looked the boy over for any signs of deceit, sighing in relief when she found none.
"That's… honestly a relief. I was worried that I messed up big time. I understand if Batman finds out on his own but please, I'm begging you, keep this a secret between us." Damian nodded, a small smirk on his face. He would not deny that having a secret his father did not know would be a rather entertaining experience, at least for a while.
Ellie decided to push forward as she rubbed her arm. "When I was 'born' I was very unstable. Danny helped me out of a dark place when Plasmius made me believe he cared for me. I think I'm stable now, but I'd rather not find out by being melted by that whackjob." Jon sent the girl a reassuring smile as he rubbed her shoulder.
"We won't tell a soul." Promised the son of Superman. "If we find someone who can help with the destabilization we'll tell them that much. Otherwise, you have my word that not a single word of your secret will come from us. Not unless our families find out on their own." Damian rolled his eyes from his spot.
"And believe me, Father will find out." Interrupted the newest Robin. "Once he hears of your identity as Geist on the news he'll stop at nothing to make sure he knows all about you. It will be entertaining to have the answer right under his nose though. I believe my brothers have rubbed off on me too much." Damian couldn't help but smirk as Jon and Ellie laughed at the shared thought.
The boy went through his pockets and pulled out a small smartphone-esk device. He entered a few commands before presenting it to Ellie. "This is a backup of my communicator. I've reset it to base settings." Ellie's eyes widened as she received the device from the boy.
He decided to continue as she looked it over. "It's set up with the base settings and doubles as a smartphone. You have an app limit, which I recommend adding the Chatty app and getting an account set up. It's my and Jon's main way of communicating between the two of us. Our numbers are in there for when you get everything set up."
Damian then glared as he pointed to the ghost girl. "Don't lose it or sell it. I've added to our bridge of trust. Don't make me regret it." Ellie nodded as she powered on the device, which had a generic background.
"I'll take good care of it." Reassured Ellie. "Thanks, D." Damian made no expression as he remained in place. Ellie got an idea as she turned on the camera function. "Smile boys!"
Jon did his best to complete the action, getting a big help as the girl suddenly draped an arm over his shoulder. Damian did no such thing as he was roughly pulled into the picture. Soon a camera snap went off, Ellie quickly putting the phone away as she remained in place. "Figured it would be nice to have a background photo to mark the occasion." Jon blushed as Ellie made the adjustment with her arm still draped around him.
She stepped away as she put the communicator back in her pocket. She suddenly realized something as she frowned. "Wait… shouldn't you be getting home soon Jon? The sun's going down." The son of Superman quickly regained his composure as he pointed down.
"Oh! This is my house. Damian's staying here for now but he goes back to Gotham tomorrow. Dad should still be in space so most likely no one heard our conversation." Ellie sighed in relief as she held a hand to her chest. She quickly transformed as she raised into the air, turning back towards the boys.
"I think I'll stay in Metropolis a bit longer. I like it here. Great food, nice clean air, and good friends. What more could a ghoul ask for?" Jon couldn't help but chuckle at the pun, ignoring Damian's glare at him.
Ellie did a few more spins in the air before flying back towards the city. "Catch ya later!" She left a green ring of energy behind her as she sped off, though it quickly dissipated. Jon sighed in bliss as he rubbed his arm. Damian groaned as he slid down a nearby flag pole.
"Drooling, Kent." Called the Gothamite. "For real this time." Jon gasped as he rubbed at his cheek, indeed finding a wet spot. He floated down to the ground as he followed his friend around to the back door. They quickly walked into the rather dark house.
"I'm just gonna say it now that she's out of earshot." Declared Jon. "She is the most beautiful girl I've ever seen. There were some cute girls at school, but there's just something about her that feels right. Maybe I should give her a message tonight." Damian rolled his eyes as he went to comment, only to freeze as his eyes widened.
Jon walked into the room with a goofy grin on his face. "What's got you all…" the half-Kryptonian soon came into the room, where the light was suddenly turned on. He went from feeling giddy to paling in the cheeks. Sitting on the couch were his mother and father, both looking directly at him. Superman, aka Clark Kent, smiled as he gestured to the open chair to the side.
"Welcome home, Jon." Greeted Clark. "I heard some interesting news from your mother, before hearing your voices from the roof. So… wanna tell us about this Ellie girl?" Jon felt his confidence shatter like glass as he slumped forward. One day of knowing Ellie's secrets, and he already blew it. One thought quickly entered his mind, which he didn't even bother keeping to himself.
"Darn it Clarice."
Inkaliber: And done! I know it's a long one but I figured it would make up for the wait. Also, I kinda let the story flow so that's another reason for the size of the chapter. Anyway, Danielle has finally made her first full appearance. For personal preference, as you've seen in the story, she'll be going by Ellie as a nickname instead of Dani.
Jessie: I think it's a wonderful idea! The name and the cute little crush she has with this Jon boy are all so cute! I could just pinch their cheeks!
Meowth: Ha! Maybe you should become a motha so you can pinch yer own child's cheeks. You and James 'ave been giving each other goo-goo eyes since we decided to stay here permanently.
Jessie: S…Shut up! You don't have any proof!
Meowth: Aw yeah? Well Kim here's been recording it all for a few days.
Kim: Um… please don't hurt me Ms. Jessie. He promised me he'd pay me so I can get money to finish paying for Alix's replacement skateboard.
Jessie: Oh Kimmie-boy. I won't hurt you. I'll just ask you to delete those videos and I'll make sure he pays you what he promised.
Kim: Deal! Sorry Meowth. You're on your own. I choose life.
Meowth: Wait! Don't leave me!
Inkaliber: Can you guys take it to the battlefield and have a regular match? I need to close the chapter.
Jessie: Of course. Come along Meowth.
Meowth: Save me!
Inkaliber: I better go officiate that to make sure Jessie doesn't do too much damage. Anyway, what did you think of the chapter? Did you like Ellie's first full chapter in the story? How about her mutual crush with Jon? And let's not forget the embarrassment Jon felt at having his parents find out about his crush. Let me know what you think down below and I'll try to get back to you ASAP. This is Inkaliber, signing out.
1: So you know French? Repeat the list in French.
2: English (of course), Spanish, German, Danish (which was fun), French and I'm currently working on Japanese. Are you satisfied, Mr. Grumpy Pants?
