Eddie got up from the couch and slowly made her way to the door to her and Jamie's

apartment when she heard a knock. Looking out the lookout hole in the door, she

smiled and then opened up the door.

"Hi Joe. What are you doing here?"

Opening the door further, she let Joe in and closed the door behind him. He gently pulled Eddie into a hug.

"How are you doing Eddie?"

When she pulled away from Joe, she gave a sad sort of smile.

"I'm ok considering everything that's happened over the last few days. If your here to see Jamie, he's in the shower. I'll go see if he's out yet. In the meantime, grab yourself something to drink and have a seat. Make yourself at home."

Joe took a seat on the couch and looked around. Then looked around the apartment. He turned when he heard Jamie's voice.

"What brings you over to our place Joe?"

Becoming serious, Joe gestures towards the couch and at both his brother and Eddie.

"Have a seat you two."

Eddie took a seat next to Jamie and then voiced her concern.

"I'm not sure I'm liking where this conversation is going Joe."

Joe became serious and looked both Jamie and Eddie in the eye.

"I found the woman who has Megan. She didn't look well when I found her. My partner

and I were helping getting some of the homeless into shelters because it was so cold

out last night. I found her wrapping Megan in a blanket. The woman looked like she was

in pain. I offered to call a bus for her, she said she was fine. I gave her my card and then

she bolted. I chased her, but somehow lost her in a very large tourist crowd in Times

Square."

Eddie gave Joe a horrified look.

"What do you mean she got away? She still has our baby!"

Joe did his best to reason with Eddie.

" I know and I'm going back out tonight to try and see if my partner and I can find her."

Jamie looked at Joe and put in his two cents.

"Do you want some help finding her?"

Joe clapped a hand on Jamie's shoulder and pulled him into a hug.

"We could use all the manpower possible. Count yourself in baby brother."

Jamie nodded and let go of his brother.

"Thanks Joe. This means a lot to us. How's Danny taking it?"

Joe smirked and shook his head.

"He's pissed. He's upset because a beat cop has more leads than a detective."

Eddie swiped at her tears and gave her own smirk.

"Now that sounds like your brother. He always has been a little cocky."

Joe pulled Eddie up carefully and into another hug.

"You have my word Eddie that I will find your daughter. She's my niece. She's family."

Eddie nodded and swiped at more tears coming to her eyes as she let go of Joe.

"You and Jamie are so much alike, it's really uncanny."

Joe gave Eddie's hand a squeeze and kept a smile on his face.

"We'll find her. That's a promise."

Eddie nodded and started to leave the room.

"I'm going to start the laundry. Visit with your brother for a bit but."

Jamie reached out and brushed her fingertips with his hand.

"Ed, you don't have to go. You can stay with us and visit too."

Eddie shook her head.

"You need time to process everything just like I do. You and I have a way to process things together, but sometimes siblings need to talk things out. Wish I could do that if my brother were still here."

Eddie left the room and Joe looked Jamie in the eye.

"Spill kid. Your like grandma. You bottle everything up. Let it out."

Jamie nodded quietly and took a breath in letting it out slowly.

"I don't know how to help Eddie. She's not only physically hurting right now, but

mentally too. The first couple of days were rough. She keeps having nightmares about

what happened to her. When Danny left me that voicemail saying she was in the

hospital, my mind immediately went to to the worst thing imaginable. Then when

Danny showed me the surveillance video of what happened to Eddie, and found out

Glen Sarson was a part of all this, I knew I had to find Megan then and there."

Joe looked at Jamie with the same look of understanding that he gave Eddie.

"You have every right to be angry Jamie. Eddie had something terrible happen to her.

No woman should ever have to go through what she did. You and I can find Megan

together. The woman that has her needs medical attention."

Jamie quietly nodded his head.

"Ok, so we know the woman needs medical attention. How was Megan?"

Now it was Joe's turn to take a breath and let it out.

"She seemed like she was in some distress. But it could've been because it was cold.

The woman was wrapping a blanket around her to keep her warm."

Jamie held back his tears.

"That's my daughter out there. You're working a midnight shift tonight?"

Joe nodded and swiped a hand over his forehead.

"Yea. You going to join me?"

Jamie nodded; he was going to do everything in his power to get his baby girl back.

"Hell yes. I want her back safe and sound. I want to be able to hold her in my arms. I

want to watch her grow up. See her first smile, her first laugh, take her first steps. Call

me 'daddy'..."

Joe smiled and remembered his own son named after him called his daddy for the first time.

"I remember when your nephew called me daddy for the first time. I look at him now

and am proud of the man he's become. Youngest police officer to become a detective.

They grow up fast kid. We're going to find Megan. She's my niece. No one comes after

our family and gets away with it."

Officer Merc Fredericson was Jamie's driver for his midnight shift. He'd been out of the academy a couple of years, but still fairly green as far as Jamie was concerned. He still had a lot to learn. Jamie struck up a conversation on with Fredericson.

"So, Marc, how are you liking midnights?"

Marc turned to Jamie as he put the RMP in park. They were canvassing everything

around and up to Times Square.

"I'm liking it so far. Except when my partner and I get a call o a bar to break up a fight.

Sometime that can get a little hairy."

Jamie nodded and got out of the car. He had to focus on finding Megan.

"Ok Marc, let's start asking people questions. If they've seen a woman in need of medical attention traveling with a 5-day old infant."

Fredericson nodded his head and shit the driver's side door of the RMP, locking it.

"Sarge? Can I ask you something?"

Jamie nodded and kept walking, pulling up the grainy picture of the woman in the gray

hoodie holding Megan.

"Sure. What's on your mind Marc?"

Marc looked Jamie in the eye.

"Why did you pick me for this assignment?"

Jamie stopped walking for a minute and looked Marc square in the eye.

"I've heard good things about you Officer Fredericson. Do you have kids?"

March nodded and his demeanor softened.

"Yes, I do. He's a year old. If someone took my son, I'd turn this city upside down to find

him."

Jamie nodded and began walking again.

"Then you understand. That's my daughter out there. Come on. Let's go up to the next

block."

Marc noticed a woman walking towards them and held up his phone.

"Excuse ma'am? Have you seen this woman with this baby? The woman is in need of

medical attention."

The woman stopped and looked at the photo for a moment and then back at

Fredericson and Jamie.

"No. Sorry. That's the photo alert that's up on the Jumbo tron isn't it?"

Jamie nodded gave her a sincere smile.

Thanks for your time, ma'am. Have a good night."

The woman hurriedly walked up the sidewalk past both Jamie and Marc out of sight.

The Sargent and the semi-green rookie continued down the sidewalk, Jamie shoving

his hands in his pockets. It was cold out tonight. Much like last night. He wondered how

Joe was fairing on the other side of the 3rd precinct.

Fredericson and Jamie heard a woman crying in a nearby alleyway. Approaching the

alleyway with caution, Fredericson saw the woman who was slumped up against a

garbage dumpster, with a screaming baby wrapped in damp fabric. Jamie immediately

approached the woman. He then quickly took his coat off and scooped the baby in his

arms, removing the damp fabric from around the baby and wrapping her in it. He then

looked to Fredericson and nodded.

"Fredericson, call for a bus. Tell them to put a rush on it."

Marc nodded his head and pressed the button on the radio at his shoulder.

"Central, this is 2-9 George. We need a bus to the corner of 42nd street. Times Square.

A woman and child in need of medical assistance."

Jamie kept the baby wrapped in his coat and tried his best to keep the cold out. This

baby needed to get to the hospital. Jamie spoke down to the baby hoping she would

calm.

"Hey, it's ok. We're going to get you somewhere where you can get a bath and warmed up. I'll keep you warm for a little while."

Meanwhile, Fredericson was trying to keep the woman slumped Neto the dumpster

alert and talking.

"Ma'am, can you keep your eyes open for me? You can't go to sleep right now. Stay with me."

The woman looked up at Fredericson.

"I'm sorry. I tried to keep her dry. I was going to a shelter. But the one I usually go to was full. I'm sorry."
