Chapter 2: The Third Dimensional Gateway
Team Natsu and their allies came to the underground city. Despite that, some buildings had broken parts and windows, and they were still standing.
"This is the underground city," Rufus stated.
"Question is, where is the gateway?" Yukino asked.
Anna took out a journal. "According to this book, it reads that there is a secret door that leads deep within the city."
Lucy sighed. "Figures this wouldn't be easy."
Primo chuckled amusingly. "Nothing is easy." The blonde comically glared at the cyborg man. "What is so funny about that?"
Joan stepped in. "He means that nothing is easy in real life. If it were, then winning wars or other contests wouldn't be so hard."
Natsu tilts his head in confusion after hearing that. "What do you mean, angel girl?" Joan pretended she didn't hear that nickname. "Think about, if you Fairy Tail worked hard to become the number one guild and you can't deny that you earned that title again wasn't a sole victory."
Erza chuckled in agreement. "You got a point, it took everyone's help to achieve that no matter how much we were mocked. We kept pressing on." Usagi smiled. "Yeah, hope is hard to keep these days, but, as you keep believing in yourself and others, there isn't nothing you can't do."
Gajeel did his trademark laugh. "No joke, but anyway let's search for this secret doorway." Levy nodded her head. "Right, Rufus, I'll need your help with any translating ancient writings we come across."
Anna had an idea. "Yukino, Lucy, you two are with me." She took out a lacrima that looked similar to the other dimensional Lacrimas. "How did you get your hands on that?" Lucy asked surisingly. Anna looked at the Lacrima. "Yajeel found it in Zeref's chamber a while back. Once he and his grandson returned to Alvarez he decided to send it secretly."
Yukino was astonished. "Wow, to think that someone from Alvarez Empire decided to lend us a helping hand." Lucy wasn't too surprised considering how much help Brandish was, though, she had a question. "How is this Dimensional Lacrima going to help us find the third gateway?"
"Well, first off, the lacrima will give off some magic energy the closer we get to the gateway, the more magic energy it'll give off." Lucy put her left hand on it and felt a faint magic energy emitted from it. "Wow, you're right, it's faint but I think we might gotten closer to it." Anna then took out an advanced key. "Also, this is the key to getting the gateway activating."
Gray was intrigued but a little puzzled. "How is this key going to activate it, doesn't the Dimensional Lacrima do that?"
Levy was reading a page from the book and read something important. "Hold on, this key is somewhat of a switch that'll turn on the Gateway like turning on a light. In other words, this key is the first to activate the gateway and..."
"The Dimensional Lacrima is the second key to opening the portal to the third world," Erza concluded.
Rufus had an impressed look on his face. "Make sense, if it got in the enemy's hands, it would only take Dimensional Lacrima to open the gateway's portal, and that way they could invade this third world and do whatever they want."
Lucy felt utterly nervous about that theory. "Yeah, there would be countless conflicts and a lot of innocent people would probably die."
"Not to mention, the wizards trapped in that world would die after using all their magic," Natsu added.
"Anyway, let's search around the buildings, but don't go in any that might be unstable," Anna advised. "If you find anything suspicious, contact us through our portable communication Lacrimas."
Every wizard split into a few groups and searched in different locations. Natsu goes with Erza, Gray, Juvia, Happy, Wendy, and Carla. Lisanna was with Elfman, Mirajane, and Aquapad. Rufus was with Yukino and Levy. Cana was with Gajeel, and Lily. Primo was with Joan, Kovu, and Lahara. Lucy was with Anna.
A half hour passed they began to search through almost every building and back area. So far nothing looked out of the ordinary.
Anna and Lucy went to the center of the city which had a large water fountain with an angel-like statue. "That's quite the interesting statue."
"Is that an angel guy?" Lucy wondered gazing closely at the statue.
"Hmm...very curious." Anna approached the water fountain as she did the Dimensional Lacriman began to give off more magic energy. "What's this...the lacrima is giving off more magic energy than ever."
Soon the other groups arrived at the center. "Anna, nothing is there...what is going on here?" Lahara asked.
"Guess Anna found something," Primo muttered with a faint smile.
Joan saw the statue and flew to get a closer look at her. "That angel...he...looks like..." She felt a strange warm feeling and placed her hand on the statue's cheek. "Grandpa..." The statue's eyes glowed blue. "Identifying..." The statue spoke in a robotic voice. This made Joan gasp quietly as she flew back a few inches away. "Confirmed identity...Joan...granddaughter of Boreas." The water fountain began to open like a door and a long set of stairs began to appear that went all the way down in a circle.
"What is going on?" Gray asked.
"So out of the world manly!" Elfman exclaimed with a gaping mouth.
"That doesn't make much sense," Mirajane and Lisanna sweat dropped.
Aquapad was busy figuring out what was going on. "Whatever is happening...it happened when Joan got close to it."
Joan was able to figure this out. "I think now, my grandfather Boreas knew someone with the right intentions would want to use this, so he decided to think of a third key. It was me. This water fountain had a secret stairway leading us to the third gateway."
"But, didn't your ancestors travel to these other worlds too before your grandfather Boreas did?" Yukino asked.
"True, but, after my grandfather's journey with his friends was done, he must've decided to take some precautions, so, he must've had the Tech use their technology to create a third key. One that would be designed to open it and that was me, since the last of my bloodline of my people and being the granddaughter was Boreas."
Lucy was a little confused. "I thought that Boreas was your father."
"Not quite, you see his daughter Kayla who's mother is her father. My mother was traveling in some areas back when Boreas was traveling to other worlds with the other Ancient Ones including Annabelle." Joan said getting Anna's attention. "Sometime after my grandfather returned, my mother returned with me and my father. As you probably know, the dragons started a war against humanity and...you know the rest." Joan almost hesitating to finish her last words.
Primo hated to admit but he was impressed. "So, my ancestors decided to keep the third gateway safe by creating a third key, or rather a way to open by using identification and that was Joan since she's the last of her kind...no...since she's the last of the bloodline to her grandfather Boreas."
Lahara observed the stairway and tapped her foot on the steps. "Looks very stable, so, we should get going." Everyone nodded.
They walked down the circle-like stairs. This set of stairs was just as long as the last ones.
A half-hour later, they got to the bottom and came across two large doors. "These doors are huge," Lucy said.
"Guess, we'll have to push on both sides to open them," Yukino suggested.
Each of the wizards was on the left and right door pushed with their might. Then they fully opened the doors. Inside was a giant chamber, just dirt and scattered rocks.
"Looks like just dirt and rocks," Gajeel said.
Lily had his arms crossed. "Not necessary, this room is massive, so, that means-"
"Over there!" Yukino pointed across the way back area and saw the third-dimensional gateway.
Primo was astonished for once and gazed upon the structure. "Such advanced technology." Anna had to agree. "Yes, I couldn't expect that any less from the Tech Race." She smiled at the Machias Cyborg. "You have quite obeservant." Primo's eyes widened and then turn his head away faintly blushing red.
"Such a manly machine!" Elfman exclaimed.
"Not sure about the "manly" part but, the gateway is quite advanced," Lisanna commented.
"I know this tech isn't our thing, but, I have to admit whoever made it must've had the intelligence." Mirajane thought.
Anna had other thoughts. "Now the question is, how do we activate using this key." She was holding the key and looking at it.
Yukino found a control panel that reached her height. "Hey guys, do you see this? Looks like a control panel or something." Anna began to look at the control panel. "Such amazing structure." She looked for a keyhole and found it. "This is where I put the key." She put it in and turned it then a loud humming sound like an engine. "Stand back everyone!"
The control panel began to blink a few lights. Then more lights began to shine around the gateway's portal entrance. "This is amazing!" Lisanna said with amazement.
Aquapad was so star-struck. "So cool!"
Rufus tilt his hat over. "This shall be a memory to remember."
Anna took out the Dimensional Lacrima. "Now for the second step." She applied her magic to the lacrima which glowed and lifted itself from her hands. It glowed brighter and soon the gateway opened its portal.
"Wow so awesome!" Natsu said excitedly.
"Aye!" Happy beamed.
Gray smirked. "Looks like our next adventure will begin now."
Juvia giggled. "Yeah, anywhere we go, I'll go especially when I'm with Gray."
Cana had a smile. "I can't wait to see what kind of drinks are there to sip."
Gajeel did his trademark laugh. "Yeah, whatever enemies we'll face, we'll kick their asses Fairy Tail." Most of the Fairy Tail wizards minus the Custody Enforcement Unit gave him odd looks. "Stop with the blank stares, would ya!"
Levy giggled with a sweet smile. "It's just nice to hear you say that." Gajeel turned his face away blushing red.
Juvia felt a bit envious. "Juvia is so jealous!"
Lisanna took hold of Aquapad's hand. "You ready, Aquapad?" The Marlin Fishman returned his girlfriend's smile. "You bet, and thanks to Mirajane's teaching about transformation magic, I'll be able to blend in with the humans in this third world."
Usagi chuckled softly. "Yes, I can hardly wait to explore this third world."
Natsu grinned. "Not only that, we'll take these enemies that kidnapped Brandish and the goddess lady and rescue Jimbei's old friends too!"
Lucy nodded with a confident smile. "Right, let's do this!" Yukino and Rufus shared their friend's excitement. "Yes, let's go!"
"This shall be a memory worth remembering."
They soon began to walk toward the gateway's portal and jumped inside within it then they were enveloped in golden lights soaring through the portal's tunnel.
Fairy Tail and their allies reappeared from a portal that opened in the sky. They soon were falling from the sky above countless buildings that were so tall than the ones back in Earthland.
The World of Science and Magic, where advanced technology is made and created to make people's lives better. The city that has the technology is called Academy City, the city has countless people living there poor or rich. There are different places to see and all kinds of things try out. However, the city secretly has a dark side one that causes grief, tragedy, pain, anger, and loss. Those people that were victims of those wrong doings caused them to attack the city. But, two individuals who got caught in these dark events were two teenagers and would protect the city.
First is Mikoto Misaka a middle school girl. She has the Esper power called: Railgun. She has a lot of friends that seemed normal until she came across the dark secrets of Academy City including the clones the scientists created by her blood.
Soon she is involved with another teen named Touma Kamijou. He is the second individual. Touma meets a nun named Index Librorum Prhibitorum, who has over 1,000 grimoires in her mind. He meets two former protectors of Index and learns that they were erasing her memories due to a condition that Index was in due to the after-effect of having so many grimoires implanted in her. Touma was determined to figure out another way to help Index using his ability known as Imagine Breaker but loses his memory afterward. Touma keeps saving helpless people despite his memory loss and keeps moving forward. He also has a few encounters with Mikoto Misaka(Who has feelings for him yet denies it, but knows in her heart that she loves him)and meets new friends on his adventures. After the fight with Fiamma of the Right, Touma puts an urgent stop to the Archangel Gabriel from absorbing the polar ice to regain strength.
He was later found by two strangers, Leivinia Birdway and Mark Space of the Dawn-Colored Sunlight.
Once again peace is brought to the world, or so it has for now.
Academy City
A cloaked hooded figure was walking down the streets watching the broadcast of the results of World War 3. "It seems that the war has stopped for now." An evil chuckle and the stranger put their hand's fingers to their head. "Has our guests been brought?" The mystery was whispering while talking to whoever was using telepathy. "Good, time for the next phase."
Present
In the icy ocean. Touma is unconscious on some broken wood.
"Well, you certainly have good luck despite you calling it "Rotten", isn't that right, Touma Kamijou."
Mark gets a phone call. "What is it?" Leivinia glanced at the black-suited man, who gasped. "What do you mean...there was a loud sonic boom within Academy City." He was quiet as whoever he was talking to explained to him. "I see...so, our little meeting with Touma will have to wait." He sighed before speaking again. "Very well, though, we'll be the ones to escort him back to Academy City."
Leivinia was stunned by what she heard as her partner hung up his cell phone. "Mark...what are you talking about, our orders are to bring back Touma and Accelerator to us!" Mark looked at the short blonde-haired girl. "Something unusually came up, someone detected a strange sonic boom outside of Academy City."
Leivinia didn't understand. "I don't get it, what is got to do with us and to interrupt our mission to take Touma with us?" Mark paused for a moment. "Honestly, I'm just as confused, however, considering the mysterious event, I think Touma will need to take part in this investigation. At any rate, we'll be taking the boat and once we're halfway there, Touma will get a ride on a helicopter." Levivania sighed slightly disappointed. "Very well, though, he'll get the chance to apologize to Index, anyway, we should inform Styli about this." Mark nodded as he began to make another phone call.
In a hidden room within Academy City, a certain man with long white hair who is residing in a certain windowless building is floating upside down on his tube filled with red lipids and bubbles floating in it with him. He is currently looking at the screen inside his room. "To think after 100 years ago, the incident that happened with Zeref Dragneel, his creations will make a comeback. This might cause great harm to Academy City." The screen changed and showed a secret lab was Fisher Lily and her crew sleeping in pods. "Fisher Lily...you and your crew...shall awaken...now...and your powers shall come in handy...assist our new friends to fight the new threat that'll come."
"Hello..." A teenage boy wearing sunglasses and dyed blond hair approached the long white-haired man. "Before we move on, I would like to see that our guests are kept somewhere safe...and I think I know someone that can help."

"Very well...make sure you have someone that can handle this well before things get out of hand." Tsuchimikado nodded then turned around took out his cell phone and made a call to a certain teacher. "Ms. Komoe...yeah, this is Motoharu speaking. I have a favor to ask of you." After a few minutes he hung up his phone and looked back at the long white haired man. "That settles that for now."
"But, first, do you plan to reveal this to Touma Kamijou once he returns?" The long haired man asked.
Tsuchimikado chuckled lightly. "Until the time is right, that and I plan to investigate a littler further before I decided to reveal. Though, I'll need help from the Church, so, I'll contact them lately tomorrow."
At Tokiwadai Middle School
There was a chestnut-haired teenage girl, who was depressed due to Touma's disappearance, and she found his gecko key chain. She was sitting on her bed holding the chain her hand and looking at it with tears in her eyes. "That...idiot..." He gripped the key chain tightly. "That...stupid...idiot..."
A certain pigtailed girl was walking outside the hallway. "Sissy...she hasn't said a word since she returned from Russia." She was aware of the war in Russia and that Misaka went to the region to find him.

She heard of Touma's disappearance from Mikoto and was depressed because of it. "Damn...that...primate...makes..." As much as she wanted to blame Touma, the boy she didn't like because of his closeness with her crush for her roommate's state, she couldn't bear to make Misaka feel worse.
"My, is the Railgun still in her room?" There stood a black-haired teen girl with a distinguishing feature and prominent forehead flanked with two fringes wearing the Tokiwadai school outfit.

Kuroko was less excited to see the show-off girl but tolerated it since her attitude did change. "You got that right, sissy hasn't said a word, I tried to get her favorite gecko items, but she didn't get at least excited since she's so fond of that toy." Kougou was quite surprised to hear the Railgun Esper was in a state, but she wasn't too surprised. "Well, can't you blame her, I mean, the boy she has a crush on is missing." Kuroko's concern quickly vanished and was replaced with jealousy. "Crush, you say...no way she would never get involved with a boy!" Kongou just giggled while putting her fan in front of her mouth. "Heheheh...Oh come on, this boy she seems to indebted to must've worked his charm on the Railgun girl." Before Kuroko could blow her top, she got a call on her cellphone. "Kuroko Shirai speaking..." The person responded to her and a small gasp was heard from Kuroko. "What, there was a loud boom outside the city?"
At the artificial riverbank, the Fairy Tail wizards and their allies got up from their landing. "Ugh...that was quite a fall."
"No kidding, we fell over 100 feet or so," Gray groaned rubbing his head.
Wendy rubbed her head. "Yeah, I'm pretty surprised we didn't break any of our bones."
Carla sighed. "Please don't say anything morbid."
Usagi was the first to observe the area. "Looks like we landed next to a riverbank." Erza noticed that too. "Yeah, look over there." She pointed at the nearby city with tall buildings. "If I have to wager a guess, I say that's Academy City."
"Damn...those buildings are huge!" Natsu said admiring the things he was seeing. "You're right Natsu," Lucy agreed with the fire dragon slayer.
"So manly buildings!" Elfman exclaimed astonishingly.
Mirajane was almost lost for words. "Wow...such tall buildings, even taller than the ones in Earthland." Lisanna had an additional. "I wonder how many people are in those buildings."
Aquapad was amazed at the sight of the buildings and how tall they were. "Wow, I wish the gang was here to see this."
Rufus chuckled as he gazed upon the buildings. "These buildings will be memorized for life within my mind."
Primo was once again impressed. "The journal said the technology was advanced. More than I'd expected."
Levy was astonished. "Wow, I wonder what kind of books they have."
Cana was intrigued by one thing. "I wonder what the boozes taste like."
Just then Natsu and the other dragon slayer's ears twitched as they heard a sound siren and covered their ears. "What is that sound?"
"Sounds like someone making a blaring sound or something?"
"So loud..."
The sound got closer and closer. Lucy noticed this. "Happy, Carla, Lily, fly above and find that loud noise was coming from?" The three exceed sprouted their wings and flew up in the air. "It's coming from down there!"
"Yeah, strange moving vehicles are coming this way."
"Not only that, there appear to be about four cars and those noises seem to be coming from them!"
"Must be some kind of machine they use to get around places," Levy thought.
"Either way, we can't risk being captured." Anna reminded. "So, we must retreat and get away.
Wendy decided to use her enchantment spell. "I think one of the enchantment spells should help us like increasing our speed."
"No, if we just sped off, it might make us more suspicious," Erza said. "Though, I think we should hide in the water with Juvia's water shell." Juvia nodded and created all water shells for each one. "Alright, also, we should follow the riverbank to the city."
Mest thought that was a good idea. "Good thinking, once we're out of sight, we'll surface!" Aquapad and Usagi knew if their appearance was revealed to any humans it might cause a panic. So they transformed into humans, they had their same clothes, hair, and height too.
Just then a speeding car drove at them with three blue armored trucks behind. Ms. Komoe got out of her driver's seat. "You guys need a hand?" The wizards were left in awe at seeing such a short young girl. "Who are you?"
Wendy didn't know what to think of the small young girl. "That girl...she's so small...she's practically shorter than Master Makarov."
"Excuse me," A woman with black hair in a ponytail got out of the other small car. "I'm with Anti-Skill Tokiwawa Aiho, if you guys want to escape the cops, then come along with us so we talk somewhere private."
The other third vehicle came Aiho's best friend Kikyo Yoshikawa. "I suggest you guys listen to her."
The fourth armored truck's driver door opened and out came Tessou Tsuzuri. "C'mon, we don't have much time."
Team Natsu and their allies didn't know what to think until Erza spoke. "I think we have no choice..." She turned to the others. "Guys, we should trust them because this is our first time in Academy City."
Anna had to agree. "She's right, let's go."
Seeing they had no choice, they quickly entered the girls' vehicles and drove away.
Somewhere on the ocean.
A family of four were riding a boat on the water. A little boy and girl watching the ocean waves. "This is fun daddy!"
"Whee!"
"Kids, be careful, don't fall off the boat."
The mother was driving the boat and saw mist was approaching them. "This can't be good." She stopped the boat and went to her family. "Everyone, there is a thick fog coming our way!"
The son had a camera and recorded the thick fog. "So thick..." He said.
"Daddy, this is scary." The girl whimpered a bit scared. Her father hugged her in comfort. "Don't worry, it's just fog, it won't-" Suddenly a faint shadow was seen in the thick fog and became clear as the shadow got closer. "Daddy..."
The mother took out a pair of binoculars. "Is that a ship..." She saw a flag on the mest and there was a pirate flag. "A pirate flag...oh no..." Before she could get a word out, the son cried. "Mommy...look...someone is on the deck." The boy was pointing at a cloaked hooded figure and then quickly looked at the boy as a respond to his words revealing partly their face. "Mommy...fish monster!" The boy fell backwards landing on his butt.
The cloaked hooded figure quickly fled back in to the ship's cabin and the ship itself sailed away.
The boy was crying out of fright and his family was so busy comforting him that they didn't realize the ship was already out of their sight.
4 hours later, inside a high-end apartment
"Damn, after that war, I'm still exhausted." A girl with a tall and slender figure was seen on a couch resting. She had soft tea-colored hair. Due to the aftermath of World War 3, her face was artificially treated with cosmetics, and her missing eye and arm were replaced.

Despite, making blunt comment about her and Hamazura, she just gave her usual bored expression. "Other than that, why were we called back to the apartment?"
Mugino sighed annoyingly. "Well, I don't know much, but, apparently things didn't settle down after the war. I heard from headquarters that something else was happening just as the people in the world were settling down and going back to their shitty selves."
"Perhaps a little TV will ease our boredom..." Takitusubo took the remote and pressed the on button and the TV's screen showed the news channel.
"There have been strange activities from the war events in Russia. Also, on the ocean, there was a strange pirate ship that was just spotted. The witnesses were a family that saw the pirate ship sailing past. One of a family members, a boy spotted someone on the deck and saw stranger's face that looked like fish."
"A stranger with a face of a fish..." Mugino raised her eyebrow in confusion.
Takitusubo still had her bored yet tired expression but was seemingly interested in the news' details. "A stranger with a fish face...what does that mean?"
"Not sure if the boy were just imagining the people were aliens or just merely mistaken the person wearing a mask." Takitsubo pressed the mute button. "How interesting is that?"
Mugino scoffed. "Can you look like it's interesting to you?" Then it occurred to her. "Wait, does this have anything to do with why we're called back? If so, what the hell is going on now?"
Riding on the road of Academy City was a beautiful young adult female with blonde hair and blue eyes. She wore a gypsy skirt and a small tube top used to cover her chest leaving her cleavage revealed. "To think more racket is happening after World War 3. No doubt, Kamijou is returning to help investigate this new event."
Oriana Thomson

She stopped her vehicle at a stop light. "Talk about a hassle to stop at a time like this." She glanced at some young teens. "Did you see those lights that crashed outside Academy City?"
"Yeah, must've been a meteor or something?"
"The cops are investigating it unless Anti-Skill steps in."
"A meteor...that's what the hassle's about?" Oriana questioned in thought. "No, something else is going on, otherwise the police wouldn't be rushing toward the crash site." She had a weird feeling that something was going on. "I wonder if this has any connection to that sighting on the ocean." She then looked a little thrilled. "Perhaps things will get interesting."
On another street.
A stranger in a hoody was walking hearing nearby teenage citizens chatting to each other at a restaurant table. The person looked to be at the height of a high school student.
"Strange events are happening again."
"After that incident in Russia was sorted out, I figured things were supposed to settle down."
"What about that family that saw a strange pirate ship on the ocean?"
The strange halted their walking though the person didn't look at the teens. "Yeah, the family's kids said they saw the pirates' faces that looked fish or shark-like."
"C'mon, that sounds so farfetched."
"Yeah, perhaps the kids saw too many monster movies."
The stranger-hooded figure continued walking. "So, looks like they had awakened for all these years." The person clenched their hands tightly. "Looks like your work has paid off..." The person lift their head slightly revealing their lower face which was that of a female and she was gritting her teeth. "Professor Derek Kamijou...your family shall pay for your betrayal..."
On the ocean there was ship sailing.
A pirate ship with flames around its neck. The cabin was in the middle and the ship's frontal resembled a Tiger shark with wooden shark-like teeth. The pirate ship had five sails and had a Jolly Roger with a skull with Fisher Tiger's hair.
In the cabin was a Fishman pirate crew.

At the city, Ms. Komoe and her friends were taking the Earthland Wizards in their vehicles to an unknown area to have a private conversation.
Erza had thoughts about this. "This city is more amazing up close." She knew she had to focus on the mission, but, she knew that the mission was going to be an easy one than she and her friends imagined. "Not sure why these ladies would show up out of the blue. Perhaps, they knew we were coming or something. Well, either way, as much as I want to start questioning, we have to focus."
Team Natsu and their friends finally arrive in Academy City which takes place after the World War 3 incident. Touma is instantly brought back to the city by the two people who found him. Fairy Tail's landing has caused some unwanted attention though they are being escorted through Academy City by Komoe and her friends. Who was the stranger walking on the streets and does that person hold a bad grudge against the Kamijou? Only time will tell.
