The next morning Ace is up early and kisses Graham's sleeping form, she heads out to meet Tegan and Nyssa. She walks right up to their door and gets out her key before knocking. "Coming," a voice Ace knows that voice as belonging to Nyssa. "Ace, why are you here so early?"

"Is Tegan up?"

"You haven't asked her have you?"

"No, and Graham and I talked a little when we got home last night."

"You want to get married soon, don't you?"

"We do, both of us feel something is going to happen. There are certain protections that are allotted to those that are married." Tegan comes up behind Nyssa.

"John and Adric send their love. Ace?"

"Where are they now?"

"Brazil, sightseeing after John's most recent break up with what's her name."

"Tegan."

"What, she cheated on my son and then broke up with him, am I not allowed to be mad?"

"You are." Nyssa knows she shouldn't have said Tegan's name that way."

"Tegan," Ace interrupts them, "let's go have some coffee, there is something I should've asked you months ago."

"I would love to stand up with you."

"How?"

"I am your best friend and the closest thing you have to a sister, come on. I was going to call you, we have appointments today."

"What?"

"For once we both are doing something girly, Nys, do you want to come?"

"No thank you, Neeka is coming by."

Hours later Ace is trying on her tenth dress. "Tegan, I do not want a white or off white dress."

"I was forced to for my first wedding."

"Probably by your mum. Mine isn't here anymore. In fact, she probably wouldn't want to come to my wedding anyway. I invited her to the opening of A Charitable Earth."

"She didn't come?"

"No, but Liam did, and I swear I heard a sound of the TARDIS."

"One of your parents did then?"

"Yeah, or it could've been in my mind."

"Stop that Ace, you always try and talk yourself out of something good when it's happening. Before you asked Graham to move in with you, how many times did you freak out and call me?"

"I don't know. Here I am now, trying to find my dress."

"And as soon as you find it, you will call Graham and tell him that you two can set a date." Tegan hands Ace another dress, "this one isn't white or off white, but."

"I will need help getting in and out of it."

"I know Graham will have fun taking it off that night."

"He did have fun last night, and I had fun the first time he tried on his suit for the first time."

"I don't need to sordid details, still remember I will have a speech ready for you."

"Great, a speech, please don't go into too much detail."

"Like how you talked about your first time with Graham."

"Definitely not that, Ryan is going to be there. If you need to embarrass me that much, throw me something that won't have his grandson or surrogate granddaughter."

"Yaz will be there you know."

"I am sure she doesn't want to hear about mine and Graham's sex life."

"But your best friend does."

"Not that she wants to, but I will tell her the important stuff."

"Please do not tell me about your honeymoon."

"Are you sure, can you help me tie this up?" Tegan walks into the stall tying up the light blue lace dress.

"I'm sure that I don't want to know what you two do that night."

"Or week." Ace faces the mirror, "this is the one." Ace runs her hand over the dress in shock on how it looks on her.

"Ace, like I said, this dress is amazing on you." Both hear a popping noise.

"Ace," a voice Ace knows better than her own says.

"Professor," she turns as Tegan puts her hands on her hips facing the man wearing celery.

"Ace, I may be connected to your brain, but I am also connected to the real Doctor. You look lovely in that dress. I always knew I would see this day would come."

"Professor, this is just going to be my dress."

"I know, this is still a big step. I am happy for you and Graham." Ace looked at her ring then back at the Doctor.

"I am too Professor. Graham makes me happy. As happy as I was traveling with you."

"Good. Now go and order the dress."

"Ok Dad." The Doctor beams at hearing those words from Ace.

"What?"

"Nothing," he goes to boop her nose but can't. "I forget that I can't physically touch anything.

"You wanted to tweak my nose didn't you," she adds with a smile.

"Yeah."

"Graham does that and kisses it a lot."

"I know, I can see it happening. The fact two more of my friends have found love with each other makes both of my hearts sing. Now go off and pop." Ace laughs and calls for Tegan to help take off her dress.

"So you argued with your Doctor?"

"Only a little, what about you?"

"Acted like my father probably would see me in my dress for the first time."

"Some of the stories you told, the Doctor was a lot like a father figure to you. To me, an annoying brother."

"Many of us had a different relationship with the Time Lord. Some I just can't envision seeing them in that way."

"Like how Yaz and from stories Rose Tyler and a few others saw them."

"Yes, I can't ever imagine my Doctor being the someone for anyone. Like Nyssa is your someone and Graham is mine."

"Yeah, come on we still have one more place to go." Ace goes to pay and order the dress.

Days turn into months when the day arrives. "Tegan, stop."

"No, for once someone is making a fuss about you."

"Graham does a lot. Just the other night he drew me a bath and rubbed my shoulders."

"Stop right there, I do not need to hear anymore."

"It was a two part celebration on Paul getting the full sentence without parole and when he gets out he's not allowed anything with internet access."

"Nyssa told me about that, you have one less thing to worry about. You can fully focus on getting married to Graham."

"No matter what, I would've fully focused on him today and for the next two months when we are away together."

"I still can't believe he got you to take two months away from A Charitable Earth."

"It was my idea, a vacation after everything this past year; I deserve a long vacation with the man I love. It's just a coincidence that it's going to be our honeymoon." Ace adds with a smile.

"Oh, I highly doubt that, I know you Ace. Don't forget how you told me you like when he does this thing."

"TEGAN!" Ace turns and faces her friend.

"What you don't want."

"Shut it, may I remind you that your son is out there and he sees me as his aunt."

"It took you long enough to pull that card. You already pulled the Nyssa card."

"I didn't want to pull that card, you guys are my family."

"So you didn't want him to hear about your amazing sex life."

"Ahh Tegan." Ace wipes her hand over her face.

"I'm kidding, let's get you married."

"Lets." Tegan takes her small bouquet and Ace follows her out, Graham makes eye contact with her and mouths I love you. After the kiss and I do and the walk back down the aisle, Graham takes her to the side.

"I love Dorothy McShane- O'Brien," he says, kissing her again.

"And I love you, Graham Nelson O'Brien." She kisses him as they hear someone clear her throat. "What," she asks, breaking the kiss.

"Well your guests are waiting for you." Tegan says.

"They can wait for a few more minutes, I want to kiss my new husband." Ace takes his hand as people step in front of them. "Reception first, then you can have your wicked way with Graham."

"And wicked will it be, come on husband," she takes his hand and sends him a wink. A little bit later Ace and Graham are laughing with each other as they hear someone hitting metal against some glass.

"As the maid of honor, I feel like I need to tell a few stories." The backyard is filled with some laughter. "I have known Ace for the better part of 20 years. I have seen her through some disastrous relationships. The moment I saw her flirting with Graham; I knew once she embarked on a relationship with him it would be different. If you are wondering how I knew, he looked at her like she was a puzzle, and she looked at him like he was some Nitro-999. I saw her take his phone once we found a place to eat and put her number in. Hours later it was like she was a teenager again talking to me about the boy, well man she met. This one, she could be honest with about everything, because they met because of the Doctor. When she got home late one night, I knew because she wasn't answering my calls or texts, I knew she was out with Graham, and I was waiting for her. She walked straight past my car. I grilled her and she told me that she and Graham had their first kiss."

"And second, and third," Ace says, giving Graham a kiss to make a point.

"Yes, peanut gallery, I asked her if she wanted more. A freak out started. Ace wanted the relationship with Graham to last. Here we are, it's lasting my friend. That wasn't the last freak out. Though the next one wouldn't be for a while, and I would walk in on them making out a few times. I am surprised Ace hasn't taken away my key."

"You would just break-in anyway."

"Shush, she would freak out when she discovered she wanted to live with Graham. Ace hadn't lived with anyone for years, I think before Graham the person she lived the longest with was the Doctor, and we know how that turned out, her father figure found a way for her to get home."

"I didn't get home."

"You eventually did." Tegan faces her friend before facing everyone again.

"A few months later she and Graham started planning something with a friend of ours. That plan was to get Nyssa home. The day that happened, Graham was planning to ask Ace to marry him, but that didn't happen. After a few months, I will not go into detail on why it didn't happen. The day it finally happened, he paid for Ace, Nyssa and I and a day at the spa. When we got home, Ace was surprised at what all he did to surprise her. She should know that she is married to someone who loves everything about her, get ready for many surprises." Tegan sits down then.

"Love, do you want to cut the cake," Graham asks Ace.

"I do."

"I love hearing those two words from you."

"Well, you will be hearing those words everytime we watch the video."

"And maybe more?"

"Yes," she whispers as they get up to cut the cake. As they share their first bite both pretend to smash it in the other's face, but don't. Hours later Ace and Nyssa disappear.

"Are you sure you are okay with me doing this," Nyssa asks her.

"I suggested it, didn't I?"

"Yes, but."

"No buts, Graham said it was ok with him and the two of you have been waiting for decades for this.

"But."

"Nyssa, you want to live the rest of your life with Tegan right?"

"I do," Ace smiles.

"That's the spirit of tonight, now get your ring and get your woman. I have my man." She shoves Nyssa out of the office where Ace hid the ring for Nyssa. "Everyone, I need your attention," Ace bellows out. "Tonight is not just a night for Graham and I, it's a night over 40 years in the making, Nyssa Tegan?"

"Huh," Tegan turns to face Nyssa who is on one knee. "Nyssa?"

"Ace is right, this has been over 40 years in the making. Tegan, I have loved you since you drove that ambulance to distract the police over a newly regenerated Doctor. The months you weren't on the TARDIS, were some of the longest months without you. You don't realize this, but you have a heart of gold that shines brighter than the sun on Traken. When I lost my planet, I didn't expect to find the woman I would spend the rest of my life loving. Yes, I left the TARDIS, but I had too. It was time. I didn't understand what I felt for you; I was just so young. It wasn't until years later when it was pointed out to me that it was you that I would love with my whole heart. My helper in science, in getting into trouble and so much more. We bond like covalent bonds, will you marry me?"

"Yes, I will marry you," Tegan helps Nyssa off the ground and share a quick kiss.

The end.
