A/N: This chapter is much longer than the others (it almost doubles the number of words). I've written this happily because I thought I did well in my exam (but you know how it eventually went, right? ಥ_ಥ) I didn't know why I hit on so many ideas that I could write the whole multichapter story like this. Before I wrote this shit, I've attempted to write multichapter stories (for another OTP of mine - SasuSaku) many times and I always dropped after I've reached chapter 3. Probably because I've used my left brain too much my right brain felt the need to work overtime, yeah. You know, sometimes I was trying to memorize new vocabulary and all that was in my head was Deidara and Kurotsuchi kissing (haha that sounds not good but I've passed the exam anyway (≧∇≦)ノ) And as always, I have to warn you beforehand, this chapter contains extremely silly content.

"Happy birthday granddaughter, and I have this lovely present for you." Onoki placed a gigantic pile of paper onto her unsuspecting arms. Kurotsuchi was shocked to say the least – well, probably 'gigantic' was too kind a word. "Nooo, grandpa you can't be so evil!"
"Of course I can." He turned his back against her and continued with his strenuous way throughout hundred piles of paper. The black-haired pulled her face. "Not only are you hard-headed but you are also uncaring now." The girl pouted. "Come on, it's my birthday. Wouldn't you let me have a small meal out with my friends like I have always done?"
"Well, if you shut up and finish that," He coughed uncomfortably. "I can knock off work early and go to eat with you at home. You could also have a party with your friends later." She opened her eyes wide. "Aaaahhhh!"
"What?"
"Oh gosh my grandfather is starting to remember he has a granddaughter! I'm going to tell my dad about this! Tsuchikage finds the time to spend with his long-forgotten family - what a watershed in my life's history!"
The Third Tsuchikage rubbed his temples. "And go help me with that pile-". "Of course I will!" He sighed as her voice gradually receded. The man had tried to get through mountains of paper with extra speed because he knew that day was a special day. He hadn't tried for the rest of his life so he asked himself whether he should try for the first time, or maybe the only time – he found doing so a gruelling task for such an old man as him.
"Oh, and another thing is that if you fail to tackle those tasks on your own, you really should retire…" He could even see his granddaughter's smirk without turning back to look at her.
x-
"Don't eat too much, you'll have to reserve your stomach for your party with your friends." Kitsuchi patted his daughter on the head with a concerning look. "Don't worry dad, I have to eat a lot because I know they're preparing something that will take a lot of energy." She tried to stuff herself to the gills with her favourite foods. "The youth today never listens to what adults say.", complained a much annoyed Onoki. Why couldn't his grandchild eat more elegantly and politely as adults were obviously present there? As an old and respectable Tsuchikage, leader of the Hidden Stone village, he felt deeply disrespected.
"Aw, that's not important because it's my birthday today!"
"As if you ever listened to what I said when it wasn't your birthday!"
She chuckled, starting to tell her father and grandfather about how she was getting on as a jounin with her mouth full. It was a long time after she had a meal at home with them for the last time – throughout the years they were too busy not to eat out. Kurotsuchi had never bothered to learn how to cook for her family. She simply threw the ingredients together, added some seasoning and used heat to make things more edible. However, much as she believed everything would become organised chaos, only half was achieved – it did become chaos, albeit not really organised. That accounted for why it was without fail that Onoki moaned at the sight of their bills: eating out was expensive.
That day, Kitsuchi had tried to make some simple dishes and her grandfather had taken some takeaways. There wasn't much difference from eating at restaurants, but the atmosphere was much homelier and so was the food. The black-haired could then have longer and friendlier conversations with her family, which she greatly revelled in.
"Wow you've grown, Kurotsuchi." Her father smiled, "although still a bit too garrulous."
"Not 'a bit too' garrulous, son. She's much too garrulous!"
"Is there any problem with being garrulous? I'm just very open and willing to share my stories. And I'm not so bad as to be 'much too' garrulous, grandpa!"
"Whatever you say" He rolled his eyes. She huffed and continued with her happy meal. She knew an even more interesting thing was awaiting her. She had to prepare.
x-
It took Kurotsuchi less than a second to spot her best friend. "Naime! Over here!"
The brown-haired folded her arms, "You're late. Late, but prepared. You seem pretty well prepared." She grinned "Yes, sorry, my evil grandpa suddenly decided to be an angel for once and I almost lost track of time quibbling with him while eating at home for the first time in ages. Oh, and you look prepared, too". "I am", smirked the girl. "We've been waiting for you."
Energy flowed to her feet. "I know, so yeah, let's go!"
x-
"I believe wasting time and energy is occasionally justifiable." The boy with glasses Renji exclaimed excitedly, glancing at the dark side of the forest. "Yeah, occasionally." Kurotsuchi inhaled, adrenaline poised to rush in her blood.
"Rumour has it that there exists a herd of exceptionally large wild boars there. I cannot wait to catch some to have some fun! Oh and remember not to use justus too often or you'll miss the entertainment!"
"Sure! It's a perfect activity for birthdays like mine!"
"Absolutely!"
"I can now see one wandering in the North direction! If there's nothing else to say, why shouldn't we start now?"
"Sure!"
The black-haired chased boars to the best of her ability. At times she had to subdue the urge to use Lava Release to stop those annoyingly fast, stubborn creatures and even considered using sharp spikes to kill them on a large scale. However, as her friend Aeko has claimed, using justus made the drama lost. "Are they pigs or are they cheetahs?" The girl gritted her teeth as the tail of a wild boar had just slipped through her fingers. She alongside the group of her friends didn't mind dirtying their clothes and themselves with dirt and sometimes mud - it was genuinely great fun and was such fun they couldn't think of anything else other than reaching the boars.
She wiped her sweats triumphantly as she managed to restrain one with force and in her body, adrenaline had had a field day. "Great, I've caught one!"
"Me too!" Aeko shouted. "Excited aren't you? I've said ninjustus are valueless in this case."
"You guys' skills are too rusty: I've caught three!"
"Shut the fuck up Kaoto or I'll persuade Naime to break up with you!" She made out a movement in the dark and followed it.
"Nothing can separate us, Kurotsuchi. Don't be overconfident!"
"You're overconfident Kaoto. I can leave you at any time so you need to remember to take care of me well!"
"See? Hah!" Triumph filled her stomach as she laid her hands on a boar's head.
"Of course I will! She will never leave me because I take care of her perfectly well."
"While you're still rambling meaningless things that will probably never happen, I've caught another!" She smirked, showing off a large, heavy wild boar which she held with only one hand. "You want to compete? I'll-"
"Shut up Kaoto-kun and help me catch that one" The brown-haired pointed at a wildly large boar and hastily went after it.
"Yes, Naime-chann!"
Kurotsuchi ran and ran. "I think I've been quite skilled in pig catching!" And she heard Naime cry from far away, "I'm not that skilled but I can still find the thrill in it! It's so funny…"
"...so funny it sounds like Kaoto's new hairstyle!" The black-haired mocked. She heard Renji's cackles and didn't need to turn back to see Kaoto's furious expression. "Yeah, it's kinda absurd but funny, real perfect for our eye's entertainment." Aeko agreed.
"Naime-chan, your friends are so cruel…"
"But they're honest. Yeah and to be frank I do think you should change your hairstyle." Cackles roared throughout the place. "Noo, why's everyone making fun of me?" There was a jocular touch of desperation to the boy's voice. "It's 'cause you're inherently ridiculous" She shrugged her shoulders.
x-
They caught yet didn't kill all the pigs – pigs were only made unconscious. When the group gradually became tired, and extremely tired, they chose a suitable place to rest and decided to grill the biggest wild pig – the one caught by Naime and Kaoto. "This is what I've been waiting for all along." Renji exhaled after having used his last drop of energy to catch pigs.
"I feel drained."
"Me, too."
"But I think it's fun."
"Yeah me, too."
"You're so wise you have the sense to bring seasoning, Kurotsuchi."
"Yeah I'm always wise."
Pork had never been her favourite food. Nevertheless, she wondered why it tasted so great when she just ate it there, with her friends and after having chased wild pigs for dear life. At last, she came home with a bunch of gifts in her arms.
x-
"What have you done Kurotsuchi? You've been covered by dirt and mud! Is this the way youngsters celebrate these days? Hey and don't make our floor filthy!" Onoki yelled as she made her first step on the floor. "I'll clean it later grandpa! Just be patient!". "Patient? Your dirtiness would try the patience of a saint!" She chuckled, flying right into her beloved bathroom.
When she was taking her second shower of the day, Kurotsuchi's mind couldn't help wandering. She thought of a boy who should have been present.
x-
1:50
She was tossing and turning all night. She felt so empty. Something was obviously missing on her birthday. No, in fact she was missing something on her birthday. No, in fact someone. She sighed. She knew who she was missing. Like every normal day she had managed not to think of him but right then it was too difficult not to. Her mind simply went back to the old days when he was still a part of her life – even a big one, despite her resistance. She recalled every second he had been present at her birthdays. Every small gift he had given her. She could and would never say she loved or simply had loved him but it felt just weird the way she was attached to the nukenin. She hated nukenins. But she was attached, way too attached to that very nukenin. And she hated that, too. She likewise hated whatever had happened last Winter Festival's night. 'Dammit! Deidara had really messed with my mind.'
Or at least, that was what she told herself.
x-
"Oh hi, trouble with sleep again, eh?" Still no noise was made when he opened her window.
"What the hell? Why are you here today?" His appearance was invariably her last expectation. She immediately casted her mind back to months ago, "It's no special day with any kind of festival or holiday."
"Why should it be a festival or holiday, yeah? The security of your village is always bad. Like some did discern me but no one could identify exactly what the birdlike UFO over their head was and was too slow to follow my speed, un." He shrugged his shoulders, "But you cannot say it's not a special day. Happy birthday!"
'Impressive,' she thought 'Not wearing the Akatsuki cloak and the crossed forehead protector – smart isn't he?'. "Wait…!" and Kurotsuchi suddenly realised 'Nooo, by doing so he's going to deceive me into… doing a lot of things I'd later regret!"
"Nah, my birthday has passed." The girl frowned "But I'm surprised you remember it and even have the gall to return to the village after what you've done. I thought we ended everything last year?"
"Who said we would end, yeah? I said I'd come back one day and see? I'm here, as I've promised. I thought you would be thrilled to bits to see me again, hmmm!"
"No, actually you're disturbing my sleep."
"You've not actually slept, Kurotsuchi."
"Almost." 'Shit' She silently closed her eyes 'I'm losing my sleep again.'
x-
"Man, wouldn't you unbend a little more when I'm here today than when I did seven months ago, mmm?"
"Why should I?"
"I've said I would not kill you! Nooo, all my efforts that night couldn't go to waste!"
"It does. But what are you going to do now? Tie me up and fly out of the window and wait for me to hold you again? Or kidnap me and get some confidential information out of Tsuchikage's granddaughter? Or kill me for nothing but your own fucking fun with an explosion?"
"No, you don't understand, Kurotsuchi!"
"I find no reason to try to and could never do!"
He rolled his eyes at her silly, stubborn attitude. "I would not do all the things you've imagined, Kurotsuchi."
"So what are you here for?"
"I've brought along a present, yeah. I'll probably leave when I have given you that, mmm."
"So why wouldn't you let me know what it is as soon as possible and fuck off right away?"
"It wouldn't be fun" He inhaled and exhaled with a mischievous grin "I'd like you to close your eyes, open your hands and see your surprise after I count, yeah."
She narrowed her eyes cautiously, "Why do I have to follow your instructions you asshole? What if you suddenly attack me? How could I trust you?"
"Do you need me to kiss you another time to tell you I don't find it in myself to do that, hmmm?"
The black-haired girl did not say a word in reply. She crossed her arms, frowned and flushed furiously. 'What the hell? How come he could just refer to that very event with that deadpan expression?'
"No, but if you do attack me-"
"Nah don't worry, I will not kill you so just close your eyes. I'm going to count. Oh and give me your hands."
Kurotsuchi suspected he would not give her something such as a normal gift. Probably he would give her some of his 'artworks' or something just as destructive - she could imagine no cute stuff like Naime had bought for her today but she expected it to be a weird object. She knew the boy in front of her was then insane. He was erratic so who knew what he was having on his mind? Yet as she was too curious and was grudgingly assured he wouldn't harm her, the black-haired reluctantly held out a hand. The world outside her darken as her eyes closed.
"Good. Now I'll start. Three…"
She breathed in her imagination working overtime. Explosions and clay blurred her mind's eye and what she felt was a pang of anxiety.
"Two…"
She breathed out. Her hands reached her pouch where there usually were weapons but she was disconcerted to find out she was wearing her blue pyjamas and no weapon was around to help protect her. 'Damn I swear I'll wear my ninja outfit even when I sleep from now on!'
"One…"
She opened her eyes on the spot. Nothing was on her hands. "What the fuck?"
"Well yeah…" He grinned. The blond put his hand on hers, "I'm yours now, un. I'm your present, un. Surprise!"
"What the fuck?" Her ninja instinct came back and she gave him a kick, which he quickly averted. "Sorry I'm just doing that because your disturbed expression looks funny." 'Funny?'
"You're wasting my fucking time and ruined my fucking sleep!"
"But at least you have a present: ME!"
"No one wants you, you bastard!" She chased him around her own bedroom with kunais swiftly taken from under her pillow and with her cheek as red as beetroot. "If you don't want me, why are you chasing me, hmm?" He giggled. "Because I want to kill you!"
x-
"Shit."
Kurotsuchi refused to find out why, but eventually she ended up sitting on his lap with her back leaning against his chest. "I don't think it's a good idea trying to attack me when you've already been tired. Drained of energy and lack of sleep, yeah." He rolled his eyes, smiling in a mocking manner. Ninja didn't often burn up too much energy when they had a party, but she did regret having wasted most of hers to have fun with her friends in that odd game they had devised. Who could believe they had been chasing wild pigs from 19:00 straight to 00:00 without respite? There were thousands of ways calories could be spent on, an ill-advised one of which she had tried yesterday. "Shut up."
"Stop me, will you? Haha, you could alway do something..."
"No, I'm damn exhausted."
She slowly rested her head on his shoulder so she could observe his face from a suitable angle. Their position was already intimate so she guessed there would be no problem if she moved a bit, yes - only a tiny bit, closer. Deidara noticed that small movement. He held her one cheek and turned his head to kiss her.
If she didn't want to take the initiative, then he would.
"Argh, you're so mean, always seizing the opportunity to do that to me." She struggled out of his body after he pulled away.
"You know, you always look as if you like it so I think you like it and I pretty like it, too."
"How can you say all this shit out loud without feeling embarrassed?"
"I'm not lying so I simply say it out loud, un. Also, I have a compliment: you look sexy in your blue pyjamas."
"Shut up, pervert!" She suppressed the urge to fly right to the bathroom door, slam it and change her clothes in one second - it would be outlandish for one to suddenly go and change clothes for no apparent reason when they were in a conversation with another, and she doubted he would obediently sit here and wait.
Kurotsuchi hated the way his grin grew wider and wider as she felt increasingly uncomfortable. "So, what would you like to have for your birthday?"
"I doubt you will buy it."
"Of course not, but couldn't you suss out that I'm trying to prolong the conversation or trying to discover more about you, yeah?"
"I don't think you're so caring at heart, Deidara-nii."
"Okay, forget that, will you answer my question?"
"I would love to have many things except for you, bro."
"Noo, that's bad and that's too general."
"You won't buy anything."
"Sure, but I won't kill you or anything, un. You lose nothing by answering what I ask."
"Yeah, you're right." She raised an eyebrow, "But what if I feel like being stubborn now?"
Deidara frowned. When he wanted something, he'd made sure he soon has it. "Oh fuck, stop! You're… haha… so childish!" The black-haired nearly screamed when he suddenly tickled her stomach. Her pyjamas were too thin for her liking, and she couldn't help but laugh as she distinctly felt his fingers lightly touch her skin. "Oh shit, you bastard…"
"Again, what would you like to have for your birthday?"
"I'd love it if you stop this!"
He finally let go of her, "Oops, sorry I couldn't control my hand, yeah." She glared at the blond. "Well, isn't it time you fucked off?"
"Why are you sounding just as impatient as Sasori, yeah? It's still early"
"You said you'd probably leave after you had given me your damn present!"
"When I said 'probably', I meant probably. I've never said 'certainly'". Oh, and look! Guess who is starting to trust me and believing in my words, yeah! Guess who still did what I suggested desp-"
"Shut up," She pulled his hair. "You're such an asshole!"
He managed to wink at her despite almost grimacing from pain, "You still look beautiful when you're pissed off. But now stop that please." Deidara tried to pull her hair like she did to him but in vain as she had stopped him either way. Naturally, after a few seconds of watching him struggling, the girl let his hair off, and it was in a thoughtless way that she let out a chuckle, "You know what? I find so much fun in pulling your hair whether you've left the village or not."
x-
It dawned on her suddenly that he was getting a bit too close to her, and that time not merely in the physical sense. She immediately distanced herself from the missing-nin and stood up. She had gone on the wrong track – she couldn't afford to let that continue.
"Wait sorry but- No I need not to say sorry. I cannot stand this anymore Big Bro Deidara. You really should leave this place and never come… back."
"What?"
"I'm saying you should go and never come back."
"This sounds so sudden, mmm. Why?"
Kurotsuchi frowned. 'What the hell? There are obviously a thousand reasons for him to pick and choose from and now he asks why?' She clenched her fist.
"Alright, you're a missing-nin. You'll end up dying an ignominious death, probably in an explosion. I doubt I'm anything so important to you but you know I'm weak. I'm fucking weak and you've managed to get a lot of things. I mean I don't even understand what I'm rambling about but I think you'll understand. Like I don't want this to happen. I don't want anything to go on like this but everything is so hard to handle. I fucking love my village and I fail to fathom why everything just happens the way it does. I love my father, I love my grandfather and I don't want-"
"Are you saying you love me too but you don't want to love me?"
She flushed. Why did every assumption he made about her annoyingly seem to be on point? How could he magically make every serious situation she had created sound just silly as hell? "Like because you love Iwagakure more or you feel like you're betraying it or something like that, yeah?". "Of course not, I never would. Hey what the fuck are you thinking? Don't make everything appear like I love you or something like that! You are so clueless!"
"Well so I don't understand it, too." Deidara smiled, "Yeah I'm always clueless when it comes to you." He also stood up.
"Okay, that could be another reason. Now you can fuck off and leave me alone."
"No, Kurotsuchi, you're so cruel," He whined, "Is this how you thank others for giving you nice presents?"
"I give my thanks to others in different ways and you present is not nice at all. And hey why the hell I have to say thank you? I'm telling you to leave!"
"Kurotsuchi…"
Right when she least expected him to, he stepped up, closer to her and kissed her cheek. Actually, she was never the one to expect criminals to behave like he did. Kurotsuchi hated the feeling of being helpless, but she was now prostrated with an overpowering feeling of bafflement. She didn't know how to respond. "This is my revenge for you pulling my beautiful hair. But this is to reciprocate, too." He went on to kiss her again on the lips. "And this, is for you to reciprocate the next time I come" The blond murmured. He pressed his lips lightly against hers, his hands placed firmly on her waist so that she couldn't escape. The black-haired opened her eyes wide.
'Shit,' Deidara was damn clever - he knew how to handle and reverse the situation. Basically, all she had to do was to resist and break away from his grip, but the black-haired closed her eyes and thought to herself she might only go against her precepts for this one more time. His predominant presence before her eyes was overwhelming - she found it impossible to think clearly. Initially, she stood rooted to the spot, but then she placed her hands on his shoulders, allowing him to get closer and closer and almost kissed him back. Kurotsuchi was dismayed that in one way or another, she had fell prey to her own beating heart. Fell prey to feelings she was unwilling to name. Fell prey to something she was too scared to admit that it started with an 'L'.
He was the one to start, and she was the one to pull away. "I feel ecstatic our goodbyes always come with a lot of kisses!" She groaned, "I hate you, and you've accomplished what you want. But I haven't – you've yet to fuck off! Why wouldn't you do that now? It's pretty late."
"You say it's too late to leave you alone? You want me to stay, eh?"
"Nooo, I mean 2:45 is late so you should fuck off, and OH WHAT THE HELL take your damn hands off my waist!"
"Oops, sorry. You should count yourself lucky the mouths on my hands didn't open all long. hmmm. But I'll try the next time-"
"Damn you!"
"Alright, now I'll leave." He jumped on the window "But don't curse too much. It doesn't sound feminine at all, yeah."
"Shut the fuck up."
"Okay, sorry. Goodbye!"
x-
She watched him leaving with red cheeks as her mind proceeded to roll back to the events of that night.
'Damn my stupid self!'
You know what? When I read a fan fiction about my OTP, the first thing I expect is seeing them kissing at least one time. That may account for what will happen in this fan fiction also...
