In the year of 2026, a mysterious interstellar portal called "The Ring" was spotted on the coast of Manila, Philippines. Many diplomatic and trade treaty was signed across the the Ring. 8. The Coming Age

Chapter 7

After four weeks of development from the support of the Philippines and the recently joined United States. The nation of Qua-Toyne Principality and the Kingdom of Quila, begin to prosper from an economic and technological level that took a thousand years of progress to merely a month of advancement.

But before the trade deal is undergone, Congress enacted the Trade Control Act of 2026/1639, a law that limited the kind of trade that is allowed from the other world. This banned the trade of specific products like hazardous materials that can damage the environment of developing countries. The prohibition of wildlife trade that is without the approval from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)due to the struggle to survive in unfamiliar surroundings, and may potentially transport new diseases or parasites to an area in which they did not previously exist. And importantly, the banned on selling military hardware to the other world is due to the recently established diplomatic relation between the three countries. It's still in its infancy and the export of firearms may cause an uprising from the lack of proper firearm regulation in the two countries. The new Trade Control Act control acted has some freedom on what can be traded like education books from elementary to high school books could be exported to the other world.

Even in a short amount of time from the first initial contact to forming diplomatic relations between the two different worlds. It's changed the average person of their perspective on seeing the world. In the Qua-Toyne and Quila countries, they saw the uses of scientific innovation have a hidden huge potential that was considered impossible without the need for magic. While the people from Earth, are not fully accepting the fact that alien civilizations or nearly identical human species exist in different worlds. Plus the fact that the world is more akin to a fantasy world like J.R.R Tolkien's book series. Magic and fantasy-like people from elves, dwarves, and demi-humans create a controversial frenzy in social media. Most people are taken shocked by the existence of the Ring and the other world. While religious organizations are preaching the end of time and presumably the Gates of Hell. Many NEETs in Japan have mass suicides they believe that they could be reincarnated in another world, which worsens the decreasing population of Japan. It's more disturbing that the Furry community is delighted that demi-humans existed on the other side of the Ring, and some are demanding to open the Ring to the public. The Philippine government did not comment on the demand as it was not the main concern from the immediate open access of the Ring to the international community.

As both countries are trading their imports and exports across the Ring. The technological and cultural exchange between both countries flourished and they enjoyed their exchanges.

The Qua-Principality are being pleased with the increased in crop yields and the introduction of more exotic fruits and vegetables being added to the food market.

The textile industry was improved when the Philippine Textile Research Institute (PTRI)conducts applied research and development for the textile industry sector. Provided modern techniques that dodon'tequire modern machinery and imported fabrics to enhance the quality of the clothing. The Philippines exported large amounts of modern clothing to the Principality, and the native populace are delighted with the pleasant comfort of wearing the clothing. The Barong and Filipiniana are popular among the nobility, as it was lightweight and easy to wear even to the elven community. While sturdy clothes and jeans are widely used by the demihumans and dwarves for their durability and elasticity due to the unique features of the species.

The culinary industry is exploded of many recipes being provided to the chefs and cooks for unique dishes being cooked for the masses. With the high quality of the ingredients from the country, farms summed up the rich taste of the dishes. Some of the chefs tried to remake some of the dishes with native ingredients that are only native to their world.

The country's infrastructure is heavily improved from the roads and bridges to alleviate transportation and reduce the travel duration of the journey. Even the implementation of better irrigation to remove waste from the housing to treatment plants is being planned for the later months.

While the Principality enjoyed the improve those people's livelihoods. The Kingdom of Quilia has the most improvement in their country from the proposal.

The crude oil extraction operations from the concentration areas of 'flammable water' and the mining of 'flammable rocks' bring excitement to the Philippine workers as they extract a huge amount of these minerals from the ground. The Quilians only scratched their head at the joyful face of those workers. Some of the government officials have doubts about the deal as they felt it was more beneficial to the Filipinos than the Quilian have thought.

But the service they committed to the development projects in the country has produced significant results for its people. They build on community projects from the establishment of water wells and plumbing for easy access to fresh water.

They implement hygienic and medical programs for people that suffered from mild and serious illnesses from heat stroke to transmitted diseases. An expedition from the request of the Quilian government asked for assistance from the Philippine government by sending healthcare advisors to the rural areas of the country that suffered many plagues from improper healthcare procedures. Many lives were saved as the health program reduce the fatalities from the residents that use alternative medicine or quackery methods that are not as effective as modern medicine or proper medical methods.

As both countries are glad about the major improvement in their country's economy and people's livelihoods.

To the Philippines and the rest of the world is a great insurgence of new outcomes that was provided to the other world. The trade of native exotic fruits and vegetables bring more transaction to the open trade market as a wealthy and influential individual want to taste the other world's exotic food on social media. There are some ASMR and Mukbang Challenges in Tiktok, Instagram, Youtube, or any social media platforms that show exotic food on the internet.

They even traded the native clothing from the fantasy design garments making many historian collectors and cosplayers to owned the outfit for research purposes or purely for entertainment.

The art pieces from the Quatoyne and Quilian artisans are having an auction on owning the other world's artworks. For the uniqueness and value that is taken from the other world.

Even if there are problems arising from the agreement they still need the tinkered out. The currency exchange rates are still an issue. The monetary exchange of precious metal coins converted to Pesos or Dollars is still working out the value for the exchange. The was an idea of using the Gold standard for the two countries but was still debated for uncertain on the feasibility.

The next problem is the slow progress of development from the infrastructure, the main reason is the lack of manpower with the expertise of modern engineering. But engineers from abroad are increasingly entering the other world to help with construction development.

And lastly, the docking capacity of the Maihark Port, the problem is the number of ships being docked and the lacking infrastructure and equipment to load and unload the shipment, this was solved where they deployed the '54th Engineer "Sarangay" Brigade' from Zamboanga City. They bring construction equipment and building materials to build a modernized dockyard for the loading of shipments. The time scale for the complete modernization of the port will take about three to five weeks of construction. The construction of the port will hinder the shipment of goods from imported and exported trade goods.

After a month and a half from the initial contact of the Qua-Toyne Principality and the Kingdom of Quila to the international community. The United Nations finally got involved, through the UN General Assembly where they demand an observation of the other world countries from the foreign affairs of the Philippines and the United States government.

Qua-Toyne Government Building

Ambassador Abueva and Greenfield are standing outside the building waiting for the UN representatives to arrive. Prime Minister Kanata and his attendants are waiting with them. The Quilians with Metzal being the ambassador are sent there to represent their nation.

The native representatives are wearing the translation necklace to break the language barrier during the talks.

Kanata and his Council were nervous about meeting the UN representatives because of what they had heard from the Phillippine and American ambassadors. They had heard both good and bad things about the United Nations, some of it contradictory.

"Man, why are they taking so long?" Greenfield whimpered as he is impatient for their guest's arrival.

"It's either that they are sightseeing the land or maybe got lost in the middle of the city," Abueva suggested as the reason for the long wait.

"It's probably the latter," Kanata added. "The city is complex and hard to navigate through, if you are not knowledgeable on the layout, it would take an hour for them to arrive at this place."

"I hope not," Greenfield interjects. "I bet they are taking their sweet time looking at the city."

As Greenfield asserted on the long wait for the UN appearance. A convoy of white and blue boxy cars with the UN logo stamped on them. The vehicles are High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWV) or Humvees for short, from the UN representatives.

"Speak of the devil," Greenfield muttered as the UN representatives arrived in the nick of time.

An old adult man of Indian descent came out of the vehicle, his wearing a green-tan Battle Dress Uniform (BDU), with a blue beret on his head. His escorts are wearing green-tan camouflage BDUs and the difference with a conventional army is that they wear blue best and blue helmets with the UN logo to show their status.

"Well here comes the blue boys in green." Abueva jokingly told as Greenfield snickered, while the rest of the representatives not getting the joke.

As the old adult man comes to the representatives and introduces himself. "Hello dear Prime Minister and the representatives of states, I'm Virat Kohli, Special Envoy of the UN." He introduced himself formally as he give a handshake to the Prime Minister.

"Greetings, Mr. Kohli." Kanata greeted. "I welcome you to Qua-Toyne, the capital of this very country."

"It's an amazing city I would say." He commented on the city landscape. "It reminds me of my trip to Geneva, Switzerland where some of the architecture designs are similar to each other."

This lifted most of the heads of the representatives from the answers.

"It's a wonderful country that has some historical buildings target is similar to yours." He added to clear the thoughts of the other worlders.

"Let's enter the government building." Kanata invited their guest to the government building as they walked to the conference hall.

As they entered the building, the two ambassadors went to a separate room for a quick talk.

Abueva spoke out to Greenfield. "Hey, what do you think the UN will accomplish after this conference."

"It's probably not the trade of oil." Greenfield mockery replied.

"You still not getting over on hoarding the mining rights of Quila. You know I put my national interest first." Abueva defended himself.

Greenfield sighed at the reply. "Well after you leave me at the capital. I managed to strike a deal with the Principality for favors on the establishment of a railroad system for ease of transportation of goods.

"Yeah, that's what I heard from the report," Abueva informed him. "Buts what the list of areas of potential US foreign base on the country. I'm very sure that China and Russia didn't have military force on the other world."

"It's for near-peer enemies for the other world." Greenfield retorted back. "You know that a specific rogue state is on bad terms for having different people."

Greenfield is referring to the Kingdom of Louria and its expansion desires to the continent. And their taste of a genocidal campaign to the two countries on Rodenuis.

"Even then we will be asked permission from your country in case the worst has happened. It was for the logistic aid in the country when the country want an aid package." He added the reasoning.

"Abueva darted his eye toward the American face and replied. "Remember Greenfield, the Philippines has every right to dictate what comes in and out on the Ring. You got that." Abueva contended on American activities.

"I swear to you, that it was for the defense of your national security and American investment that is at stake," Greenfield stated the justification.

But before Abueva complained more, the door of the room is knocked. "Mr. Abueva and Mr. Greenfield, the meeting will be commenced."

Abueva let out a big sigh and looked back to Greenfield. "Let's continue this after this meeting."

Greenfield simply nods his head and they both leave the room. They followed the main group with the UN representatives following up.

The group was led to the conference hall, where the UN representatives were introduced to the natives before explaining their presence.

"Our presence here, representatives of Quatoyne and Quilians, is to evaluate if the Philippines and the United States are treating you fairly in dealings. The United Nations have been worried that they have been abusing your trust and have sent me to make sure that it is not the case. Just in case that is true, they will face severe sanctions."

"Sanctions?" Kanata asked as he was stunned by the statement.

"Yes, abusing another nation's trust and manipulating them to become a puppet is an extremely severe crime in our world." He explained thoroughly.

"Well, you need not worry Mr. Kohli," The Prime Minister spoke out, "The Philippines and the United States have been a great help to us."

"Do tell me," He asked politely, "The United Nations wants to know."

"Very well, they have supplied us with considerable economic aid," He stated, "Many of their agricultural experts are working with our scholars to help increase crops for the next harvest. They've also made trade agreements with us."

Mr. Kohli was scribbling down everything in his notepad.

"Any military aid or presence?"

"Maybe, the Philippines send their combat engineers from their army force to the improved port of Maihark for renovation for their merchant metal ships. While they both have their security force on their respective business premise."

It was nothing serious from a military occupation. That's what Kohli thought in his mind.

"Excuse me, Mr. Kohli." The Minister of Foreign Affairs raised a question. "Since you are unbiased in your national interest, but what is the United Nations?"

"I'm more obliged to answer that question." Mr. Kohli responded. "The United Nations is an organization that maintains international peace and security, the United Nationsprotects human rights, delivers humanitarian aid, promotes sustainable development, and upholds international law."

"It's a noble cause that you there, Mr. Kohli," Kanata stated. "It's something respect and support on approvingly."

"Thank you, Mister Prime Minister." Mr. Khohli let out a compliment.

"Then it's the Quilians turned." He added and looked at the Quilians representatives and told them. "Are there any concerns that the Philippines and the Americans do to abuse your sovereignty?"

Metzal being the one who is representing his country stands forward. With him being a dwarf, Mr. Kohli is standing higher than him. Mr. Kohli looked below at the Quilian dwarf and tried to not show a surprised face.

"Well, the Philippines did demand some mining rights to our country. They requested to be the useless flammable water and rock on our mountains and plains." Metzal explained the trade deal that they have with the Philippines government.

"What is this flammable water and rock they speaker of?" The UN ambassador asked strongly while the Philippine ambassador is sweating nervously on the corner.

"They called them crude oil and coal that they named them in your world," Metzal explained the real names of the minerals.

The UN ambassador looked at the Philippine ambassador as there both eyes meet each other. Abueva began to have sweat on his forehead. He grabbed his handkerchief and wipe his sweat off.

Mr. Kohli looked back at Metzals and asked him another question. "So how big of their operation they did to extract your minerals."

It's on a small scale, they use their people and equipment instead of our manpower and resources to extract the useless minerals from our lands.

"So what do they exchange for this operation?"

"They assist us in building our infrastructure and provide our people with healing amenities to help the ill people that plague our country."

Me. Kohli gave a big sighed and told the Quilian representative his concern. "Your country needs to be aware of the Philippines' activities in the mining of natural resources of your nation. They could be committing some Exploitation of Natural Resources of your country's natural resources."

The Quilian representatives were shocked by the UN representative. Metzal then speaks out a question."What are you talking about?"

"They said it's a precious mineral that they trade for assistance for our lands. The useless mineral l from making disturbing smells and hard to remove them." He added.

"Fossil fuels are a precious natural resource in our world. Everything is running our technology and economy. You must be aware of your dealings." Mr. Folhi clarified the rationale.

"The good news is that they are not manipulating your land and the agreement is reasonable for your standard. Just make sure on what activities are suspicious and called a complaint to the UN, you have the freedom of speech so use that." The UN representatives informed them. "Does the United States have any dealings with your government?"

"No, we haven't done a diplomatic mission till a later schedule," Metzal answered.

"I see." Me. Kohli replied. "That's all that I need to hear about. My team will have a tour on land. To make sure that the Philippines and Americans are keeping their promise."

The UN representatives search for signs of occupation of sovereignty and violation of international law. But at the end of the day, they found no signs of them and the UN labeled the observation to be completed.

Philippine Embassy

The two ambassadors are resting on their coach's inconvenience. They are tired from the trip with the UN representatives and the two native representatives show the capital and the famous tourist spots of the city.

To say at least, it was an exhausting endeavor that the representatives are talking about the people and the fantasy settings that exist in this world. The natives are hyped about the other world that is on the other side of the other Ring.

After the UN representatives finished their job. They give a goodbye to the Quatoyne and Quilian representatives as they went back to our world.

"You know, that was the most nerve-wracking experience that ever happened in my job," Abueva asked.

"Don't jinx that idiot!" Greenfield shouted as he stand up and pointed at Abueva.

"Don't be superstitious, I'm not gonna make red flags like a cliche novel," Abueva says ad he makes another red flag.

"Why did Mr. Kohli ask those questions to Quilian representatives? Are they pointing fingers that we can't be trusted with entrance to another world?" Abueva raised a question to Greenfield.

Greenfield straighten himself and looked toward Abueva and told him. "Do you know the first contact of Christopher Columbus with the Native Americans when they discovered America?"

"Not much," Abeva replied. "I think the guy meeting with the Native Americans is like Magellan meeting the first Filipino the Spanish met."

"Let's say they mistreat the natives and scammed the leaving shit of them by trading mirrors and fabric for gold and pearls," Greenfield explained. "You could see why the UN wants to know we aren't going full-on Manifest Destiny."

Abueva chuckled at the joke and added. "Or the Spanish occupation by the Spanish Inquisition."

"No one suspects the Spanish Inquisition." Both of them laughed at the joke and they kicked back the entire day.

Unknown Hideout

A hooded figure entered a room that revealed two more hooded people talking to each other.

"I have news from the Command boss." The first figure revealed a small wooden box and a scroll containing their mission briefing. "It's for our next mission and they ordered us to deliver this to the Filipinos.

The Lourian spies managed to get information on the new players that are having diplomatic talks with the enemy nation. They were found to be called the Republik of the Philippins and they were said to come from another world. The spies think it is rubbish and they theories the fact that other civilizations from the 1st or 2nd are helping their enemies. They don't know their real identity so their higher up has a plan.

"Give me that!" The second person reads the scroll and makes a grinning face. "Seems like the new visitor has the audience to our attention."

The third figure stepped forward and asked their boss. "So we only have to deliver this box.?"

"It's simple but this will reveal themselves and they could back out if they are hiding their real name through a fake name and a bad location of their country." The second person explained to his companions.

"A Ring that transported them to another world." The third figure laughed out loud at his joke. "At least make a background story that is somewhat realistic than some bullshit."

"Be quiet, we have a mission to do and we must follow it." The second figure ordered his workers.

"Yes sir." They both affirm their boss and proceed with their mission.

I'm trying to go outside the box and make the story more in-depth about the characters and how politics happened. Some consequences and decisions are morally gray that go between our perspective of an average person reacting when they experience the existence of an isekai being a real thing.

In my life watching surveys and reactions on our humanity would likely do. This would be the near realistic thing that our world would react to.
