It's been over a week since Katherine finally left Mystic Falls and went back to New York. Katherine finally realized that Damon was never going to go back to her, no matter how hard she tried to get him back. She finally accepted the fact that the only woman Damon wants in his life, the only woman he ever desired was Bonnie Bennett. The last time Damon and Bonnie saw Katherine, was when she showed up at the grill last week. Bonnie and Damon were having lunch and she told them that she was going back to New York and she was going to sign the divorce papers. She even promised that she would make sure that Damon's lawyer got them as soon as possible. This made Bonnie very happy.
Bonnie was in the middle of making dinner for Damon when he got back from New York. The other night while they were lying in bed together, Damon had mentioned that his father Ginuespe had called him to tell him that he was needed in the office. When Bonnie asked if he were to run into Katherine as she feared that he might, he reassured her that he's only going to be in New York on business and he would be back soon.
Hearing a knock on the front door, Bonnie sighed softly as she set the wooden spoon down and turned off the burner. Wiping her hands on a hand towel, she walked out of the kitchen and towards the door. As she opened the door, Bonnie gasped in shock at the very last person to ever stand outside her door.
"Anna, what are you doing here?" Bonnie asked, confused as to why Jeremy's fiancée would be knocking at her door. The last time Bonnie saw Anna was during dinner at Jenna and Alaric's, when Anna announced their engagement, which had been a few months ago. Since then, Bonnie has been avoiding both Jeremy and Anna at all costs.
Anna looked at Bonnie, who was feeling a little nervous all of a sudden. "I um... I wanted to come over and apologize for what Jeremy and I put you through."
Bonnie snorts a laugh as she shook her head as she crossed her arms over her chest." You want to apologize to me? Little late don't you think? I mean this whole time, you never once bothered to apologize before, and now you want to. Why?"
Anna sighed softly as she opened her purse, took out an envelope with an invitation to her and Jeremy's wedding, and handed it to Bonnie. "I'd love for you to come to our wedding."
Bonnie looked at Anna's hand, which was holding the invitation, and raised her eyebrows in question. "You... who had an affair with my ex-boyfriend? Got pregnant by him and is about to marry him? You seriously want me to watch you marry him?" Bonnie asked, thinking that Anna had lost her mind.
Anna dropped her hand as she sighed deeply." Bonnie, I am sorry for what Jeremy and I did to you. I never thought I would get pregnant and yeah maybe I should have ended the affair before it got too far, but I didn't and I'm sorry for that. I'm also sorry for announcing our engagement the way we did. That wasn't fair to you."
Bonnie sighed deeply as she closed her eyes and shook her head." You're right, it wasn't fair. None of this was fair. Because what you and Jeremy did was wrong and you both know that. But I can't live in the past anymore. I've moved on and I'm actually happy. Lot happier than I have been for a long time."
Anna nods her head in understanding." Damon seems like a great guy."
"He's a great guy, and I love him." Bonnie sighs softly."Thank you for apologizing, and I do accept it. But I can't watch you marry Jeremy."
"Yeah, I knew you'd say that." Anna said as she nodded her head. "Thank you for accepting my apology. I'll see you around, Bonnie." She said once again before turning around and getting back into her car and driving off.
Bonnie scoffs a little as she shakes her head and walks back inside to finish preparing dinner before Damon comes home, which should be soon.
Later that night, after dinner, while Bonnie was curled up in Damon's arms, they were both lying on the couch watching the fire. Bonnie sighed softly.
"So, Anna had stopped by earlier."
" Oh, really? What did she want?" Damon asked, raising his brows for a moment.
"She wanted to apologize for basically taking Jeremy away from me, and she wanted to invite me to the wedding. Like that's ever going to happen." Bonnie answered with a snort.
"Maybe we should go to the wedding." Damon said, shrugging his shoulders a little.
Bonnie looked at him questioningly as she raised her eyebrows. "Please tell me, are you joking?" Bonnie hoped he wasn't serious about going to the wedding.
" Yeah, why not? I think it would be good for you, if you went."
Bonnie scoffs in disbelief as she moves away from Damon and quickly gets up from the couch. "Unbelievable." She mutters to herself as she heads straight towards the kitchen and starts cleaning up before going to bed.
Damon sighed heavily as he got up from the couch and followed Bonnie into the kitchen. He walked up behind her as he wrapped his arms around her waist. "I'm sorry." He said softly as he leaned down and kissed her cheek.
Bonnie sighed softly as she nodded her head. "I know, and I'm still not going to the wedding." She said as she moved out of Damon's arms and finished cleaning the kitchen.
Damon nods his head as he started to help Bonnie clean up." I know, I just thought maybe you would want to go. I mean Elena is going to be there."
Bonnie snorted a laugh as she shook her head." Of course Elena is going to be there. Jeremy is her brother, and just because she's going to be there, that doesn't mean I have to be there. Besides, I'd rather not watch Anna marry my ex-boyfriend."
" Okay, I see your point. We don't have to go to the wedding."
"Thank you." Bonnie said with a smile, pleased that Damon wouldn't push the issue any further.
Damon reached out to Bonnie by her waist and pulled her closer to him." Hey, why don't we get out of town for a few days. Just get away from Mystic Falls for a little bit. What do you say?" He asked with a smirk.
"Sure, I think I can get away for a few days. Where are we going?" Bonnie asked as she wrapped her arms around his neck.
"New York, I sorta gotta get back to the office and my mom wants me to bring you over for dinner." Damon answered with a sigh as he tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. Before Damon came back to Mystic Falls, Lily had invited Damon to dinner the next time he was in New York and she asked him to bring Bonnie so she could meet his new girlfriend.
Bonnie took a deep breath as she nodded her head." Okay, I will meet your parents. I mean it's only fair since you're meeting mine soon." She said with a smile.
Damon chuckled softly as he leaned down and kissed her lips deeply and passionately, wrapping his arms around her waist and pulling her even closer to him. "Now, why don't we head upstairs and finish this in the morning?" He whispered against her lips.
Bonnie bites her bottom lip for a moment as she looks around the kitchen. Even though Bonnie hates leaving the kitchen the way it is, Damon is right. They can finish cleaning up the kitchen in the morning." Come on." She said softly as she grabbed Damon's hand and walked out of the kitchen, heading upstairs as she pulled Damon along with her.
