Godzilla: The Planet Eater
Both Must Fall: Wrath of the Gods
Even though it was a handful of monsters against one with three heads, it still seemed like one type of battle that humans of the past understood as a free-for-all. And even from a safe distance in the submarine, the spectators could see that the battle royale was as violent as it was intense, with some monsters being thrown aside while others were more enduring.
"Man, look at them tear at each other," Martin uttered as Ghidorah unleashed its gravity beams against Titanosaurus, forcing it to dive into the ocean to avoid getting killed and wait for another opportunity to strike at the three-headed beast.
Yuko watched as Godzilla unleashed his atomic breath at Ghidorah after Rodan flew out of the way, sending the golden dragon back a substantial distance backwards, off the ground and into the air. To her, it was like a god had unleashed a ray of light against a winged demon that tried to stand against them.
Incredible, she thought.
Ghidorah remembered the sting of Godzilla's poisonous flames, the phantom pain etched into its consciousness. But was fortunate that its regenerated body wasn't entirely like the one it lost to Godzilla, just slightly stronger, albeit not as strong as the bulky hide of the false Godzilla that it tore down to rebuild its own husk. Even if they were older or stronger than they were previously in the past, Ghidorah refused to let go of its desire to reclaim this planet that unleashed a series of problems that made it difficult for it to solidify its hold.
Shine! A grand light in the distance caught its attention.
In fact, this grand light had caught everyone's attention, causing them to look in the distance at what it was.
"What is that?" Haruo wondered.
-x-
From the distance on a mountaintop, members of the Houtua, including Maina and Miana, bore witness to the light given off by their grand guardian goddess.
-x-
Even high above the planet in the Aratrum, the light could be seen like a great beacon.
"What is that?" Mori wondered.
-x-
"…That's gotta be Mothra," Yuko expressed, "the Queen of the Monsters."
"Mothra?" Adam spoke. "Titanus Mosura?"
As the light dimmed, the people aboard the submarine could see what looked like some sort of insect with large wings and mantis-like claws, bathed in a glow of bluish-white light.
"Bioluminescence?" Martin questioned. "Incredible. And the size of it…is remarkable."
"Iiiieee!" They heard the screeching chirp Mothra made as she flew overhead.
"Rrrrraarugh!" A different, roar-like screech was then heard, also in the sky.
"What was that?" Haruo asked.
"Rrrraarugh!" It was heard again.
Yuko looked up and saw that flying beside Mothra was some sort of…black Mothra, with a similar design and larger wing structure and pattern; it was as though this creature was a negative twin of Mothra's. But was it evil? Was it here to help the others fight Ghidorah?
"Do we have anything on this creature?" Adam wondered.
"It might be a relative or subspecies related to Mothra. A…Battra…or Battle Mothra, completely suited to combat." Someone else replied.
"This thing's with the other monsters fighting Ghidorah?" Martin questioned.
"Looks like it."
-x-
Ghidorah hadn't seen this creature before. It remembered seeing the other one and killing it, time after time, but this dark one…was completely new to it. There was a similarity between them, but they were completely different organisms. But it was the same as the other creatures: An enemy to its reign that needed to be disposed of.
"Aaaaaurgh!" Its heads shrieked.
Godzilla charged up his atomic breath again and fired at the three-headed serpent.
BLAST! Ghidorah had tried to fly out of the way, but was struck by the blast, leaving a large gash on its chest.
Because there was no blood, all there was for Ghidorah was just discomfort.
Bash! Rodan flew by and grazed Ghidorah on its left head.
-x-
"…It's a battle royale of the highest sort!" Someone on the submarine.
"No kidding," went another person.
And yet, these great beasts are fighting for more than you know, thought Metphies as he suspected that the creature his people had worshipped had yet to show its true strength, despite being outnumbered.
The two Mothras flapped their wings and a strange shower of dust fell from the sky. It fell on everything, but seemed to be affecting only the plant life and Ghidorah, who was smoking around its heads and wings.
"This is some real wrath of God-type stuff happening here," Martin expressed.
-x-
The shower of scales beings created by the Mothras was a clear sign to the Houtua that this battle of the deities was not going to be without casualties. If they were fortunate, Mothra and Battra would be able to leave with some time left to put whatever affairs they had in order, but if they weren't, this battle would be the last thing they took involvement in. But what was important to understand that was part of their culture regarding their protectors was that they were immortal, everlasting, connected to the planet and a part of nature, able to transcend the seasons. As winter died to allow for spring, spring moved to enable summer, and summer submitted to autumn…and autumn made it possible for winter to return.
Mothra, thought the Houtua priestesses as they watched Ghidorah crash onto the ground, glowing brightly and looking like sparks of lightning were escaping its body. Battra…you are eternal and will return to life.
-x-
The stinging sensation from the shower of scales these two flying pests gave off affected Ghidorah and forced it to fall to the ground due to losing much lift in its wings. As it couldn't fly right now, it had to deal with the fact that most of the monsters were ganging up on it, so it had to resort to an old tactic it used the first time.
Godzilla recognized the way Ghidorah's regenerated body glowed and roared for the others to get back, but it was too late.
"Rrrraaaaaurgh!" Ghidorah's heads shrieked as it spread its wings and released lightning bolts from its body in all directions, hitting the other monsters in random areas on their bodies and sending them falling backwards with varying injuries and disorientation and momentary blindness due to the intense brightness of the light its gave off.
-x-
In the Aratrum, the crew could see a massive burst of light on the surface of the planet.
"What's happening down there?" Mori questioned, wishing he could see the phenomenon going on down there.
Whatever it was that was happening on Earth, it was a major issue affecting the fate of the people that had to abandon it because of a false ruler deciding that all life on the planet was a threat that needed to be eliminated. A planet where human beings were among the top apex species had been flipped to allow ancient species of various creatures return and reclaim their former positions as the rulers…only to be hunted down by the same abomination that had usurped the mantle of king from a previous creature they had learned just recently was a benevolent monster worshipped by ancient people as a god.
Endurph, on the other hand, like Metphies, had to wonder if the god their people served would manage to finish what it had failed to accomplish so long ago…or would be forced to succumb to another defeat at the hands of one of its greatest rivals that put up a fight.
A false king fallen, he thought as the intense light on the surface of the planet ceased, a true king returned and another king resurrected to reclaim what was taken from him long ago. Only one can rise above the rest. But who?
-x-
It was a powerful move, but Mothra and Battra were still able to fly around, and continued to shed their scales against Ghidorah as its own wings, scorched and full of holes, began to regenerate as it looked around the terrain to survey the creatures that were injured.
"Aaaaurgh-aaaurgh-aaurgh!" Titanosaurus growled as it got up from having its left arm and right leg struck by Ghidorah, frowning as by Ghidorah, frowning as Anguirus and Baragon recovered from their abdominal injuries. "Grrraaurgh!"
"Aaaaaurgh!" Anguirus roared.
Ghidorah couldn't believe that these lowly creatures continued to persist, even after being harmed by it. It was reminded of how it was met with resistance in the past and how these…impudent cretins…continuously defied the fate they were being dealt with and accept their fates. Oh, it just hated how nothing came easy to its desires for control of this world. A painful memory of how it was once suggested that it would fail to obtain a new world to feed upon, serving as a record of failure, forever shaming it until it could rectify the disgrace.
"Grrr!" It heard Godzilla growl.
"Grrrr!" It heard Gorosaurus add in.
No matter how many they were or how persistent they were, the fixing of this error would be inevitable. There would be no trace of any life left on this planet and all would belong to Ghidorah. All would belong to Ghidorah.
To be continued…
A/N: So many chapters to work on, and yet it feels like I never have enough time to do them all. I just finished watching the first episode of the second of Harley Quinn, and I gotta say that Harley Quinn is standing out quite well on her own. Anyway, how are you liking the way this story is progressing? What do you expect to happen now?
