"WHAT THE FU-"
I jumped, frantically scanning my surroundings for the source of the voice. "I-is someone there...?!" I stammered, my face drenched in cold sweat.
"DON'T MESS WITH ME! I KNOW HOW TO FIGHT!!" which was a total lie.
I might've sounded a bit ridiculous, but I was scared out of my mind, alright?!
A soft, almost ethereal chuckle filled the air.
"Fear not, dear one, for I am here to aid you. I'm sure you have questions about your current situation, correct?" A voice without a distinct gender uttered.
"W-Who the hell are you? Where are you hiding? Why can't I see you? What's going on?! AND WHY AM I EVEN HERE?!" I blurted out in my panicked state. Fuck this shit, I wanna go home.
The voice chuckled once more, then replied, "You need not know who I am, for I am both everything and nothing simultaneously-"
I deadpanned and muttered, "Is this the author?"
A muffled sound escaped when, all of a sudden:
"Aw, seriously!" it grumbled. "I was hoping for a dramatic entrance and all that jazz. But no, we had to get a smarty here! This is just messed up. And no, I'm definitely not the 'author' or anything like that since I don't control fate."
I let out a baffled sigh at the sass, "Oookay then, who the hell are you?"
It hummed thoughtfully, "No one important. You don't need to know because I won't be meddling after the forthcoming explanation. Refer to me as 'the Messenger' if you want."
'Jesus?' "Okay, hold on a sec. What do you mean by 'I won't interfere,' and why in the world are you here right now?" I asked cautiously. Please don't be some fucked up ROB, please don't be some fucked up ROB...
There was a moment of silence before it began to explain. "You see, Colith, I've been given the job of letting you know about your situation and what you're meant to do here," it replied with an unsettling sweetness.
I paled, realizing it knew about how I ended up here. "Am I... dead?"
"Yea."
A heavy silence hung in the air.
"EXPLAIN, DAMN IT!" I snapped in frustration.
"Jeez, calm down, no need to lose your cool," it responded with a dismissive wave – which only made me more annoyed, because who did this bitch think—"A flower pot fell on your head, killing you instantly, while you were out with your mom," it explained, its tone dripping with boredom.
I paused, momentarily forgetting my anger. "Oh, that... that sucks actually."
"Yu-uh, that was a sad and ridiculous way to die."
I clicked my tongue, "Fuck, you're right." I sighed before asking, "Is Ma okay, though?"
"Huh? Your mom? Yeah, she's fine, don't sweat it. She's safe and sound, well, mourning, but still safe. You wouldn't believe it, but she gave that pot owner a piece of her mind after the accident, literally terrorized a grown ass man to tears. I gotta say, she's a force to be reckoned with! You lucked out with a mom like that!" it cheerfully chimed.
I let out a breath I didn't even realize I was holding, weakly chuckling at my mom's boldness. "Is that so..."
"Come on, don't be down," it said with a tinge of sympathy, which kind of got on my nerves. "Even if you can't go back home, you can still find some great people here!" it suggested.
"Yeah, right, with Isayama in charge, they'll all die." I said with an eye roll. I let out a deep sigh, pinching the bridge of my nose. Reluctantly, I asked, "So... what am I supposed to do here?"
It gave a finger gun, and somehow, I could feel it. Don't ask me how. "Now we're back in business!" it winked. How did I know? It said 'Wink'.
I sighed and decided to give it my full attention.
"So, as you've probably gathered, you're now in the world of Attack on Titan," it began. I nodded in understanding. "After your death, the higher-ups decided to conduct an experiment in this universe because they rarely encounter fan - I mean, situations like these." I could tell where it was going, but I shrugged it off. "The soul was randomly selected with the condition of being well-acquainted with the plot! Voilà!" Did it just throw in some French? "And you, my dear Colith, were the chosen one! It just happened to be perfect timing an-"
"So, they're the ones who caused my death...?" I interrupted abruptly.
"No, no, that was just bad luck," it clarified.
Ah.
"Seriously?" I muttered under my breath, then let out a sigh. "So, if I'm getting this right, I'm here to amuse them, huh?"
"Yup."
I couldn't help but sweatdrop again.
"And how exactly do I go about that...?"
"Oh, just wing it, be yourself! You're the [Mother of all] , after all~" it said in a sing-song tone.
I choked on my saliva. "The mother of... WHAT!?" I AIN'T NOBODY'S MOM.
It giggled before deciding to explain further. "You're now [The Mother of all] , a new deity conjured up by the Higher Ups to help you mess with the storyline!" it chirped. "I mean, isn't that cool? It'll keep you from kicking the bucket!"
I pondered on what it had revealed. 'Mother of all, huh? Well, knowing where I am, that could come in handy, for sure. Maybe I finally have my own plot armor...' I chuckled, a bit defeated. 'Heh, I hope I've got some overpowered abilities.'
"Yup, you've got 'em," it chimed in.
I jumped, startled by the voice. 'It can read my thoughts?!'
"Yup, I sure can! We could've had this chat right in your noggin," it said with a dismissive wave. "Now, let's talk about your powers!" I sensed it pointing at me. "Your imagination is the only limit, which means you can do anything you want! Super strength, flying, control over elements, titans, humans, you name it!"
I blinked and mumbled, "Well, that's pretty convenient..."
It hummed and then applauded. "Looks like you've got the basics down! Any more questions for me?"
I pondered for a moment before asking, "Can you tell me exactly where I am in the timeline? It would help to know what I can do and what to change."
I sensed its nod. "Hmhm! You've landed here one year before the fall of Maria! The higher-ups figured you deserved some time to enjoy before all hell breaks loose."
I nodded slowly and said hesitantly, "Alright. I suppose I should thank you, I guess...?"
"You're welcome, Lith! It's been a pleasure to meet ya-"
"Wait! Who exactly are these Higher-ups?" I asked, still a bit hesitant and a tad suspicious about this whole situation.
There was a pause, and only silence followed, as if it had decided to...
"Eh, just a bunch of nutcases, don't worry about it. ANYWAY, this is our first and last chat here! So, from now on, you're on your own. Good luck, soldier, and please, for the love of all that's holy, find some clothes. You look like a newborn..." And with that, the voice and its presence vanished.
Huh.
Well, that was... something. I glanced over at the spot where my titan form had been, only to find a bunch of plants. "So, dissolving turns into plants, huh? Yeah, totally logical. Gotta get used to this," I muttered.
I looked down.
'Oh yeah, clothes.'
Wish I could show some of my art here ugh—
