They both tilted their heads as they spied Robin on a ladder - Regina stood with her arms crossed.

"Are you sure this ladder is steady? I think it's older than Roland, Leo, and Ava combined."

Robin laughed. "That may be, but it's quite steady. Besides, I'm nearly finished."

Regina only cocked an eyebrow as she watched her husband screw in a couple more lightbulbs.

Killian then piped up, "I'm quite surprised you took the time to check in at the local bar, Madam Mayor."

Emma elbowed him as Regina turned to glare at him. "Don't you have a job to do?"

Robin then hopped down off the ladder. He ran his hand along his wife's back.

"I'm quite sure Killian was merely joking, weren't you?"

Robin then quirked an eyebrow at the man in question. He nodded and offered a smile.

"Of course, mate. I meant no harm - you know how I love to joke about."

Robin smiled and shook his head. "Indeed."

He then took Regina's hand in his and walked her to the door. "I'll walk you to your car. I'm sure you'll be needed back at the town hall."

"Yes, I will be."

He smiled and squeezed her hand before they headed outside.

Killian then hummed and nodded toward the ladder. "I'm rather surprised Robin didn't put this back."

With crossed arms, Emma pointed out, "He was probably going to before you put your foot in your mouth."

He rolled his eyes. "Just help me, won't you?" She couldn't help but chuckle before she followed him.

He folded the ladder before he picked it up and tucked it under his arm. He then nodded toward the back of the bar.

"Shall we?"

"Aren't you going to carry it with both hands? You're making me nervous."

With another eye roll, he told her, "I'll be fine, Swan. But I'd still be much obliged to your help as it is rather heavy."

She nodded before they headed off to the storage room. The door didn't budge as Emma jiggled the knob.

"Ugh. Why does Robin always lock this thing?"

"Come now, we can't have thieves breaking in, now, can we?"

She chuckled as she took out her keys. "I guess not." She then unlocked the door and pulled it open wide. Killian moved past her and laid the ladder against one of the walls.

He then made his way out, and Emma closed the door behind him. She locked it and placed the keys back on her belt loop.

Killian's hand lingered on her arm. "Let's get the place ready, love."

Her eyes locked on his. She then ducked her head and blushed. She cleared her throat and took a deep breath.

"Yeah, we should probably get a move on - especially since we're the only ones working tonight."

"Really? And why is that?"

"Killian, you've forgotten already? Ruby and Dorothy are on their honeymoon - and Will's sister is pretty sick."

"Ah, that's right. I do remember now." He resisted the urge to scratch behind his ear.

Robin then shuffled back through the door. "Alright, you two. Let's get this place ready for customers."

The pair both took a breath. She then planted her hands on her hips.

"I mean, do you really think it'll be that busy? It is the middle of the week."

Robin offered a smile. "I suppose we'll just have to see."

He then strolled over to the jukebox and turned the radio dial to a classic rock station.

"Some music while we work," he told them as he turned back around. Emma and Killian both smiled and nodded before they went to work.

Robin grabbed a broom and swept while they took down the chairs. Killian jogged over to the bar. He reached underneath and grabbed wash rags and cleaner.

"Here you go, love," he told her as he sidled up next to her. He placed the rag over her shoulder.

She jumped and nearly dropped the chair she held. He held her steady.

"Are you alright, Swan?"

She took a breath before she answered, "Yeah, I'm fine. You just…startled me."

"Sorry about that. I'll be sure not to sneak up on you."

"Uh, yeah, thanks," she told him as she ran her fingers through her blonde hair.

He only hummed before he returned to the tables. She found herself watching him - and smiled when he started to sing.

She hummed along as well as she placed two of the chairs on the floor. She then took the spray cleaner and sprayed down the table before she wiped it down.

Robin maneuvered around the few tables as he finished sweeping the floor. He glanced at his employees - both of whom continued to make eyes at one another - and then smiled and shook his head.

He put away the broom and headed over to the bar. He grabbed the clipboard that hung on the wall and took stock of their inventory. When he finished, he called out, "Killian? Emma? Can you two come here?"

The pair stopped their work and shuffled over.

"What can we do, mate?"

"I need you two to go grab a few bottles of Jack Daniels and Captain Morgan. The truck is coming tomorrow - but we need to get through tonight."

"Sure thing," Emma told him - only to tilt her head. She then crossed her arms over her chest.

"Do both of us need to go?"

Robin couldn't help but grin. "You two are joined at the hip – and are quite distracted when the other isn't around."

Emma blushed while Killian scratched behind his ear. He then cleared his throat.

"So, uh, we'll just pop over to the store, and we'll be back in two shakes."

Robin only hummed and offered a nod before they headed out. Emma then fell against the door.

"We really aren't that bad, are we?"

Killian chuckled. "I think Robin was teasing - but we do make quite the team."

She couldn't help but smile. He then brushed the hair off her shoulder.

"And to that end, we probably should get going."

She nodded before they set off across the street to the convenient store. They waited for the cars to pass before they stepped off the sidewalk. Emma then let out a giggle.

Killian quirked an eyebrow. "What's so funny, Swan?"

"You. You're still humming."

"Which is humorous because?"

She shrugged. "I don't know - I just kind of like it."

A grin spread across his face. "Do you now? Perhaps I should serenade you again - maybe even a dance?"

He pulled her toward him as they stepped onto the sidewalk. He spun her around as he belted out "Summer of '69".

Emma couldn't help but laugh before she wrangled herself free. "You idiot - we're in the middle of the street."

"If people know us, I doubt they'd be surprised."

He then chuckled. "I was just having a bit of fun with my best friend. Is that so bloody terrible?"

She fixated on "friend" as her gaze landed on the ground. She then took a breath.

"It is when we're on an errand for our boss. Now come on."

She headed over a few buildings before she opened the door to the convenient store. Killian waltzed in behind her.

They headed over to the drink coolers and grabbed what they needed. When they reached the counter, the cashier greeted them with a smile.

"Hi, you two! Let me guess - put it on Robin's tab?"

"Aye, love. We'd be most obliged."

She nodded before she punched a few buttons. She then offered a smile.

"Alright, you two are ready to go."

She bagged the bottles before she slid them across the counter. Killian nodded before he grabbed them.

Emma then offered a nod. "Thank you. We will see you next time."

The young woman nodded before she waved the pair off. When they headed back out, Killian nudged her shoulder with his.

"So, Swan, should we crack open a bottle of Captain Morgan when we get back?"

She chuckled. "We should probably make sure everything is ready first."

"And we shall - but then you owe me a drink."

She smiled and shook her head as she opened the door to the bar.

When they stepped inside, Killian spoke, "Alright, mate, I say we have more than enough whiskey and rum to last the night."

"Good," Robin replied with a smile as he took the bag. He then arranged the bottles on the shelf behind the counter.

He then clapped his hands together. "I took the liberty to finish the tables while you were gone. So now, all we must do is wait."

He then offered a grin. "I'll leave you two to your drink."

He stuck his hands in his cargo pants before he headed toward his office.

Killian then slid behind the bar. He reached for the bottle of Captain Morgan and a pair of glasses.

"Unless your tastes have changed since yesterday, I would imagine you still like the rum."

"What do you think?"

He rolled his eyes. "You don't have to be quite so sarcastic all the time, Swan."

Her eyebrows shot up. "You're one to talk."

He tilted his head. "I suppose that is the pot calling the kettle."

She hummed. She then tapped the glass with her finger.

"You gonna pour or not?"

He shook his head. "Bloody hell - I have rubbed off on you."

She only chuckled as he poured her glass and then his own. He returned the bottle to the shelf before he turned back to Emma.

He raised his glass. "Shall we toast?" She shook her head - and then a smile broke through.

She raised her glass. "Sure. To us." "To us." They clinked their glasses together before they sipped on their rum.

Killian placed his glass back on the bar before he reached in his back pocket for his wallet.

"Shall I pay for yours, darling?"

She cocked an eyebrow. "Killian, we've had this conversation - I can buy my own drinks."

"So, you like to remind me."

"That's because you don't listen."

He couldn't help but grin. "Well, love, it is as Robin said - we are rather a distraction for each other."

He then shot her a wink. She took a sip of her drink to hide the blush. She then twirled her hair around her finger.

Killian opened the cash register and placed a few bills in before he grabbed Emma's purse and took money from her wallet.

When he had closed the cash register and replaced her bag, he downed the rest of his drink. Emma tilted her head.

"You wanna take it easy there?"

He shook his head. "It's only one drink - it isn't nearly enough to get me drunk."

She laughed. "That's good to hear - I'd hate to lose my partner."

"Of that, love, there is no danger."

He offered her a smile - one she returned before they clinked their glasses back together.
