"You know I think of you that way too. You're my Could Have Been." - Baron Ryan americanbaron on most social media.

And thus he thinks about what could have been.

Looking up to the hotel that would be my temporary home for the next short while I remember a few hectic winter evenings from High School. The people met there while not always in my life seem to rotate in and out of it, a constant flowing stream of new and old faces over and over again. That dream of being a house husband left the moment I entered the workforce as a shadow within a good company, turns out the service club had more use than was given credit for.

Dropping my bags onto one of the few chairs in the room I look around to see a nicely enough made bed with a few complimentary water bottles. It's a space not too big yet not small enough to cash out for another room, it's the perfect size space to let your mind wander.

I feel the ringing of my mobile phone going off in my pocket, it's a weird feeling due to the fact that I'm usually the one who starts a call to reconnect. Answering without looking, I say a quick "Hello" to the person on the other end of the call only to receive a "Hello" back from a voice I hadn't heard in a few short years.

"How are you?" I ask her as a small giggle escapes from her mouth.

"I've been alright. It's been a while." She responds to my question as a small smile finds its way onto my face.

"It has been quite some time hasn't it." I state trying to cut off any heavy topics about the past before we find our way back to reminiscing about those simpler times.

"Indeed. Say where would you be right now?" She questions with a hint of worriedness in her tone.

"I'm staying at a hotel at the moment. A hotel that lets you think about what could have been." I respond back as I try to put some reassurance into my voice, letting her know that I'm alright.

"I wish I could be there then."

"I don't think you'd want that. In this space it allows us to think about different paths we could've taken. How some simple decisions could lead us to such different outcomes."

"You're not reminiscing about the past are you? Letting time sweep you by?"

"No I couldn't."

"Say, do you think we could ever turn back and return to what it used to be?"

"No. I think if we were to do that then we'd lose out on other could-have-beens."

"Am I your could-have-been?"

"Yes. Was I yours?"

"I believe you still are."

"It's nice to hear that we're each other's could-have-beens."

"It is nice that in that way we do end up together. In the same dream."

"Yeah. It's good to talk to you again, Yukino."

"It's good to talk to you, Hachiman."

"So what do we do now?"

"Now we wake up."

A/N - Welcome to "The Never Ending Splitting Roads." Where I take Hikigaya Haciman and cast into scenarios I think would work well for them. Inspired by many sorts of media from books, movies, music to video content like the one you just read. I know this is out of left field but I hope you'll like what is essentially my entry to the drabble category for this fandom. It might not always be true to the characters but I'll try to fit the scenarios to the characters as closely as I can.

Inspiration - This drabble was Inspired by "americanbaron" if the quote at the top couldn't tell ya. His form of expression through both video and written form is what has pushed me to be a better dialog writer. His content is at least in my opinion top notch. I hope you consider looking at his Instagram page and looking through his content.

Afterword- This won't take precedence over my current main fic, but will probably be updated more often due to the short nature of drabbles. I hope to have another chapter of my main fic out before the end of the month. Once again thank you for reading and I hope you look forward to more of these.
